The second season of “Rebooting the Entertainment Industry,” sponsored by PwC and Ad Council, will begin its five-episode run on Sept. 15. “Rebooting the Entertainment Industry” is a weekly series in the Variety Streaming Room exploring how the entertainment industry is refocusing and redefining business during significant COVID-19 disruptions.

The first episode will air at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET and will feature Syrinthia Studer, EVP Nickelodeon and Awesomeness Films; Mark Gill, Producer (“Unhinged,” “Olympus Has Fallen”) and CEO, Solstice Studios; Allison Page, President, Magnolia Network — a joint venture between Chip and Joanna Gaines and Discovery, Inc — Sandra Dewey, President of Productions and Business Operations, WarnerMedia Entertainment; and Greg Boyer, Partner and US Media & Entertainment Consulting Leader, PwC. Panelists will discuss the biggest areas of momentum today and what strategies continue to resonate with audiences. Future Season 2 episodes will focus on marketing, production, workplace diversity and sports.

'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Has Lots More Stories to Explore, Says Creators

When it comes to Avatar: The Last Airbender, fans of the hit Nickelodeon series still have so many questions. Not even two animated series and a slew of graphic novels have sated their curiosity. Of course, it is hard to blame their questions after seeing how fleshed out the Avatar World is, and the show's creators agree there is plenty more to explore in the franchise.


The confession comes after the co-creators of Avatar did an interview with Polygon about their tenure with Aang. Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino said they still have unanswered questions about the Avatar Universe... but there is no promise they'll ever be answered in a public forum.

"Even after 18 years, I still find the Avatarverse to be a wellspring of creativity and storytelling. Mike and I built this fantasy world out of things we love, and we simply set out to make shows that we would want to watch ourselves," Konietzko said.

"Thankfully that has kept it fresh for me after all this time. While it doesn’t encompass everything I want to say and do as an artist, it a really wonderful place to come back to and create within."

Continuing, DiMartino said the pair sought to create a fantasy world so intricate that stories would bloom wherever planted. Avatar did a fantastic job of seeding those questions, and the universe's rich history has given those seeds a perfect place to blossom.

"There are many seeds we planted through both series and in the graphic novels that could be expanded on and explored. The Avatar universe is a big place and has a long history so there’s a lot of potential for new stories," DiMartino explained.

Of course, there is no word on whether the Avatar World will make it back to fans in the form of a show. The Legend of Korra stands as the only follow-up show to Avatar: The Last Airbender, and there are a slew of novels and comics set in the universe. As of late, Kyoshi has been the focus of several Avatar novels, and fans are hoping other intriguing characters will be explored in new texts before too long.

Milkshake! Goes Green with New Show 'Go Green with the Grimwades'

ViacomCBS-owned UK terrestrial Channel 5 has commissioned a factual entertainment series with an environmental theme for its Milkshake! kids’ strand.


Go Green with the Grimwades has been commissioned for the preschool block with support from the government-backed Young Audiences Content Fund (YACF), through the British Film Institute (BFI).

Produced by Doc Hearts, the 10×10’ series aims to raise children’s awareness of their impact on the environment and what they can do at home to make small positive changes.

Along the way, they will have the help of famous YouTube family the Grimwades (pictured above), consisting of mum, dad and their six home-schooled children, who have more than 24 million channel views and 228,000 subscribers.

Each episode will follow the family as they accept challenges to cut waste and protect the planet, inspired by five key themes – Reduce Recycle, Repair, Reuse and Refuse.

Louise Bucknole, Vice President (VP) of programming for kids at ViacomCBS Networks UK, said: “Go Green with the Grimwades is the perfect new addition to our growing pipeline of content, complementing our wide and varied slate, which now also includes drama and live-action entertainment formats.

“The series will help our viewers learn to be more environmentally conscious, starting from within their own homes, with fun ideas they can easily adopt. As a family who are already adored by so many people on YouTube, the Grimwades are very relatable and accessible role models for our young preschool audience, and we’re delighted to welcome them to Milkshake!.”

The news comes follows Milkshake! greenlighting four new series with support from the BFI Young Audiences Production Content Fund earlier this year: Circle Square, a 40 x seven-minute show produced by Wyndley Animation; Winnie & Wilbur (52 x 11.5 minutes) from Winduna; Milo (52 x 11 minutes) from first-timer Fourth Wall Creative; and The World According to Grandpa, a 25 x 11-minute live-action series from Grandpa Productions.

Milkshake! has also ordered new seasons of in-house productions Milkshake! Monkey’s Amazing Adventures and Milkshake! Bop-Box, and has picked up season 12 of Fireman Sam, as well as the first season of Brave Bunnies, a 52×7’ series coproduced by Glowberry and Anima Kitchent and distributed by Aardman. Brave Bunnies follows bunny siblings Bop and Boo as they set off on a family road trip during which they encounter new animal friends, play games and make exciting discoveries. The series will air on Milkshake! next year. All four series will air on Channel 5's preschool programming block from 2021.

'Made by Maddie' Producers Deny Copying ‘Hair Love’ Family (and Cat) for New Nick Jr. Show

The production company behind Nick Jr.’s upcoming series Made by Maddie has issued a statement denying that the preschool series is copying Matthew A. Cherry’s Hair Love, following criticisms made by social media users who called out the similarities between the preschool cartoon and the 2019 Oscar-winning short film.


Made by Maddie is a preschool show about an 8-year-old girl who uses her fashion sense and design ingenuity to solve problems,” Silvergate Media CEO Waheed Alli said in a statement provided to TheWrap on Wednesday, which was accompanied by date-stamped images of Made by Maddie that were created between 2017-2018, before Hair Love was released in August 2019.

“Silvergate Media has been working on the series for the last five years and throughout the production has taken steps to ensure a diverse production team and an appropriate voice cast lending their expertise and talent. As creators ourselves, we have the utmost respect and admiration for Matthew A. Cherry and Hair Love, and our hope is that when people watch our show, they will see it is its own story with its own adventures.”

Hair Love, which was created and directed by Cherry, a Black man, centers on seven-year-old Zuri and her father Stephen as they attempt to style the little girl’s hair by following an instructional video narrated by her mother (voiced by Issa Rae). Cherry funded the film in part via a Kickstarter campaign that raised $300,000. In July, HBO Max ordered an animated series from Cherry inspired by Hair Love.

Created by Paula Rosenthal, a white woman, Made by Maddie, is set to premiere Sept. 13 on Nick Jr. Here is the official description for the show:

"Made by Maddie centers on Maddie (Alyssa Cheatham), a quick-thinking little girl with a big personality and a huge heart, who has a passion for fashion. Maddie finds design inspiration around every corner and her big ideas couldn’t become a reality without the love and support of her aspirational and talented fashion designer mom Dee (Patina Miller), and her super cool and upbeat musician dad, Rashad (James Monroe Iglehart), along with the assistance of friends and neighbors, including kind, animal-loving best friend, Jada (Sophia Torres), and the twins–rule-following Harper (Amanda Dressel) and fearless Hudson (Ames McNamara)–who are always up for adventure. Maddie’s creative thinking and dazzling designs are a reflection of the bustling, colorful city of New York and its residents. Maddie confidently embraces her own unique style, celebrates individuality, treats everyone with kindness, and encourages others to take risks and be themselves."

Early this week, several Twitter users began tweeting side-by-side screenshots of Made by Maddie and Hair Love, and listing off similarities they saw between the two, including the physical appearances of the animated families (and their gray cats).

Cherry himself joined the conversation by retweeting and commenting on some of those comparisons, including this one, in which he added an inquisitive-looking emoji (see below).


In response to one Twitter user, who wrote, “@MatthewACherry, PLEASE tell me you’re going to do something about this. I legitimately thought Hair Love was getting an animated series. That alone should tell you enough,” Cherry said, “We are getting a series and this wasn’t it.”

A representative for Cherry declined to comment to TheWrap Wednesday and Hair Love studios Sony Pictures Animation and Lion Forge Animation did not immediately respond to the request.

Earlier today, Nickelodeon removed the network's Made by Maddie page from NickJr.com. It's currently unknown whether Nick Jr. is still planing to premiere the show on Sept. 13.

East Rutherford, NJ, Sept. 03, 2020 -- Following Governor Murphy’s recent announcement, American Dream will begin welcoming guests again with the opening of retail and reopening of its acclaimed indoor entertainment experiences on Thursday, October 1.

Retailers including H&M, Primark, and ZARA will open their American Dream locations for the first time and DreamWorks Water Park, Nickelodeon Universe, Out of This World Blacklight Mini Golf, and The Rink will reopen Thursday, October 1. Big SNOW American Dream opened Tuesday, September 1st and announcements about additional openings and new experiences will be released soon. To ensure the safety of our guests, reduced attendance levels and extensive health and safety protocols will be observed by all attractions and retailers at American Dream.

“We’d like to thank Governor Murphy, his administration, the New Jersey Department of Health, our legislative delegation, County Executive Jim Tedesco and his team, and the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority for their collective efforts throughout this process to get to a safe reopening,” said Don Ghermezian, Co-CEO at American Dream.

“We also want to thank our guests and team members for their patience and loyalty while we were closed,” said Mark Ghermezian, Co-CEO at American Dream. “We know that our community has been waiting to return, but it was important to us that we took the proper time and precautions needed to welcome guests back in the safest possible manner. The last several months have been difficult for everyone, and even though we are still adjusting to the new normal, we are confident that we can provide guests a safer environment to make dreams come true for everyone, everywhere, as well as create much needed job opportunities in New Jersey.”  

The health and safety of our community is, and will continue to be, our top priority at American Dream. Over the last several months, we have enlisted experts across health, safety, and government to develop in-depth health and safety plans for the property and each of our attractions and retailers. Our COVID-19 Health & Safety plan follows guidelines from State and Local government agencies, as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and was built in partnership with Hackensack Meridian Health, our primary health care partner. Additional details around this partnership will be announced soon.


A few things guests can expect upon their return to American Dream include, but are not limited to:  

  • Face coverings required for entry into American Dream
  • Reduced capacities throughout American Dream and within each of our open attractions
  • Increased sanitizing and disinfecting throughout American Dream common areas and attractions
  • Hand sanitizer stations and hygiene reminders installed throughout American Dream and within our attractions
  • Physical distancing guidance, including ground markings, plexiglass barriers, touchless programming and more

As each of our attractions will be operating at reduced capacities, we strongly encourage and advise guests to book their experiences in advance of their visit at www.americandream.com - tickets are available for purchase today.

Nickelodeon Germany Unwraps September and October 2020 Highlights

"Back to School" is the motto for many kids and teenagers at the moment, and the new school year is about to begin for Nickelodeon in Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well: With exciting, funny and engaging new shows, fan-favourite characters and a brand new special stunt in which Nickelodeon celebrates the true heroes: the students themselves! Hour of Heroes - New Stunt

Nickelodeon will launch Hour of Heroes (Stunde der Helden), a brand new stunt in which Nick will meet extraordinary children on Monday 31st August 2020! The real-life heroes include 9-year-old Makenzie, who has written and published a book; 11-year-old friends Elena and Olivia, who design robots together as a team called "Miss Einstein"; and 12-year-old Kumaka, who won't let himself be deterred from skating - even while sitting in a wheelchair! These heroes from German-speaking countries also tell Nickelodeon how they use their special situations or extraordinary talents to show themselves, their families and other kids and teenagers a very special message: We can do anything!

Fans can also tune in to Hour of Heroes to catch special episodes of fan-favourite Nick shows Henry Danger and The Thundermans!

Hour of Heroes airs weekdays from 19:00 Uhr on Nickelodeon Deutschland, Österreich and Schweiz, and online at nick.de from Monday 31st August 2020.

Dorg Van Dango - New Show


A brand new 2D-animated comedy for six to 11-year-olds, Dorg Van Dango (52 x 11') follows the adventures of Dorg, a regular teenager growing up in the town of Normill. But life takes a wild turn when four magical beings - THE MAGICALS - escape from Area 52 and crash-land in his back yard! Dorg takes them under his wing and disguises them as normal teenagers—but his new gang of best friends are anything but normal. Jet the cool unicorn, RD the goofy alien, Yooki the spooky ghost, and Patronella the weird witch all try to help Dorg navigate teenage life. Whenever he has a problem or chore, they’re always quick to offer a magical shortcut, but it’s not long before their magic gets out of control and things escalate in unexpected and hilarious ways. When the gang try to use their powers to undo the chaos, they only make more magical mayhem, leaving it up to Dorg to figure out a solution and save the day - often learning a thing or two about life and friendship along the way.

Dorg Van Dango is based on an original idea by German animator Fabian Erlinghäuser (Song of the Sea, Moone Boy) and Irish director Nora Twomey (The Secret of Kells), both of whom worked on the highly acclaimed animated drama The Breadwinner, which was nominated for an Oscar® in the category "Best Animation Film" in 2018!

The Italian animated series Atchoo! invites boys and girls to follow the adventures of Teodor Green (aka Teo), a nice 9 year old boy who has a very particular way to express his emotions: Beastly Sneezes! Gesundheit! Since he was born, when feeling a strong emotion, he sneezes and turns into an animal! He can't control the sneezes and can't predict what kind of animal he'll turn into, but with the help of his friends he’ll always get out of it.

Atchoo is not just a comedy-based series, the stories transmit an important message: difficulties, fears and diversity are not necessarily all bad, but can engender endurance and originality.

Atchoo! airs weekdays at 15:25 Uhr on Nickelodeon Deutschland and 16:10 Uhr on Nickelodeon Österreich and Schweiz starting Monday 7th September 2020. Viewers can also watch the series online at nick.de.

Spotlight fans, mark your calendars! Season 5 of Spotlight, Nickelodeon's popular German-language Nickelodeon series about the students of the Berlin School of Arts will premiere on Sunday 4th October 2020!

Rocco (Malcom Meckert), Greta (Chiara Tews), Mads (Mike Leon Lichtenberg) and (Jesina Amweg) will be joined this new school year by new classmates: Lasse (Esmael Agostinho) and Pepe (Tim Francis), as well as his dog, Sparky.

The actors of Spotlight sweeten the waiting time for their fans with content created especially for them on social media - here they reveal, among many other things, how they spent their summer holidays. NooBees


In season two of the Latin American e-sports Nickelodeon show, Noobees, the main characters Silvia and David enjoy their life as a couple - unaware that an artificial intelligence called "Game Over" wants to kill them and take control of all the players. To do so, she sends two avatars brought to life into the real world and lets them mingle with the humans. The NooBees not only have to recognize the wrong friends, but for the first time they also have to compete against an unknown, intelligent power.

In addition to the popular original cast, including Michelle Olvera and Andres de la Mora as Silvia and David, the second season will also see the Colombian influencer Daniela Perez "La Pereztroica" for the first time, who has 1.6 million followers on Instagram.

August 2020 - „Back to School“ heißt es derzeit für viele Kids und Teenager, und auch bei Nick wird das neue Schuljahr eingeläutet: Mit spannenden, lustigen und mitreißenden neuen Shows, den Lieblingscharakteren der Zuschauerinnen und Zuschauern und einem besonderen Format, in dem Nickelodeon die wahren Heldinnen und Helden feiert: Die Schülerinnen und Schüler selbst.

Stunde der Helden

Am 31. August startet ein neues, limitiertes Kurzformat bei Nick, in dem wir außergewöhnliche Kinder kennenlernen - als Teil der „Stunde der Helden“, einem Programmspecial mit besonderen Folgen von Henry Danger und Die Thundermans.

Die Heldinnen und Helden aus dem echten Leben sind zum Beispiel die 9-jährige Makenzie, die ein Buch geschrieben und veröffentlicht hat, die 11-jährigen Freundinnen Elena und Olivia, die gemeinsam als Team „Miss Einstein“ Roboter entwerfen sowie der 12-jährige Kumaka, der sich selbst im Rollstuhl sitzend nicht vom Skaten abhalten lässt.

Auch drei Protagonistinnen und Protagonisten aus dem deutschsprachigen Raum erzählen Nickelodeon, wie sie ihre besondere Situation oder außergewöhnlichen Talente nutzen, um sich, ihren Familien und anderen Kids und Teenagern zu zeigen: Wir können alles schaffen!

Dorg van Dango

Dorg ist ein ganz normaler Teenager – bis er plötzlich auf vier ganz außergewöhnliche Wesen trifft, die sein Leben gehörig auf den Kopf stellen. THE MAGICALS nennen sie sich und flehen Dorg an, ihnen zu helfen – sie sind nämlich aus der berühmt-berüchtigten Area 51 geflohen und möchten so schnell nicht wieder zurück. Um sie zu verstecken, gibt Dorg sie als etwas ungelenke Teenager aus – was sich bei einem Einhorn, einem Alien, einem Geist und einer Hexe als ziemlich turbulent herausstellt.

Die Serie basiert auf der Idee des deutschen Animators Fabian Erlingshäuser und der irischen Regisseurin Nora Twomey, beide haben zuletzt am vielbeachteten Animationsdrama Der Brotverdiener gearbeitet (2018 nominiert für einen Oscar® in der Kategorie „Bester Animationsfilm“).

Tierischer Spaß bei Nick: In der italienischen Animationsserie Atchoo geht es um den 9-jährigen Teo, der in besonders aufregenden Situationen niesen muss. Gesundheit!

Soweit nichts Besonderes – wäre da nicht der leidige Nebeneffekt, dass Teo sich beim Niesen immer wieder in ein anderes Tier verwandelt. Auf kreative Art und Weise können seine Freunde ihm dabei helfen, sich wieder in Teo zurückzuverwandeln.

Den 4. Oktober dürften sich die Fans von Spotlight nun fett im Kalender anstreichen, denn dann startet endlich die fünfte Staffel der beliebten deutschsprachigen Nickelodeon-Serie rund um die Schülerinnen und Schüler der Berlin School of Arts.
Zu Rocco, Greta, Mads, Lotte und den anderen bekannten Gesichtern gesellen sich in diesem Schuljahr auch neue Klassenkameraden dazu: Pepe und Lasse sorgen für einigen Wirbel im Schulalltag.

Dafür schickt sie zwei zum Leben erweckte Avatare in die echte Welt und lässt sie sich unter die Menschen mischen. Die NooBees müssen nicht nur die falschen Freunde erkennen, sondern erstmals auch gegen eine unbekannte, intelligente Macht antreten.

Ollie, his two best friends and an otherworldly backpack embark on monstrous adventures in Nickelodeon’s original action-comedy series, Ollie’s Pack, premiering on Nickelodeon in Germany (Deutschland), Austria (Österreich) and Switzerland (Schweiz) on Monday 7th September 2020. Locally titled Ollies Rucksack, the series will air daily at 16:15 Uhr on Nickelodeon Deutschland and at 17:45 Uhr on Nick Österreich and Nickelodeon Schweiz.

Produced by Nelvana, the 26-episode, 2D-animated series combines the struggles of tween life with the responsibility of controlling an entire dimension of monsters.

Ollie’s Pack is filled with excitement, humor, and heart, and we are thrilled to welcome Ollie and his friends to Nickelodeon’s incredible family of original characters,” said Nina Hahn, Senior Vice President of Development and Production, Nickelodeon.

Chris Rose, Vice President of Animation Production and Development, Nickelodeon, adds, “I can’t wait to introduce a new generation to the timeless tale of a boy growing up and finding his place, while simultaneously trying to save the world.”

Ollie’s Pack follows Ollie and his backpack, which doubles as a powerful portal allowing an array of monsters to travel from the Monsterverse into Ollie’s world on Earth. Throughout the series, Ollie and his two best friends must protect the earth from the horrifying monsters that have escaped, while often utilizing the helpful monsters who assist with their everyday tween problems, like sneaking into a movie or winning their school’s Battle of the Bands contest. No matter the circumstances, Ollie’s thirst for adventure undoubtedly gets him into trouble that only he and his friends can resolve.

In the first episode, “New Kid on Campus,” Ollie takes Captain Wowski to school in the pack. CW loves it so much he poses as the new kid the next day. Then, in

Ollie’s stinky sweat is a hot commodity in the Monsterverse so he exchanges it with a monster who offers to do his laundry. Then, in "The Chosen One(s), a former Chosen One unexpectedly shows up. Her presence creates a rift between Ollie and his pals.

The US-English dub of the series stars James Hartnett (Cupcake & Dino) as Ollie, an ordinary, impulsive, and creative kid who has been given the status of Chosen One and Keeper of the Pack; Ana Sani (Mysticons) as Cleo, the brave and adventurous comic relief; and David Berni (Rocket Monkeys) as Bernie, the nervy and logical voice of reason.

Along the way, audiences will be introduced to some larger than life monsters including Andre and Bev, a bounty hunting double act; Major Snooch, a high ranking official in the Ministry of Chosen One Affairs; and Rance, a weaselly petty thief in utter denial about his boldfaced stealing.

The series originated from “Monster Pack,” an original short made for Nickelodeon’s 2013 Animated Shorts Program. Creators Pedro Eboli (Cupcake & Dino) and Graham Peterson (Rick & Morty) met at the Vancouver Film School and have now been friends for over 10 years. Pedro is a creator, producer, director and animator from Rio de Janeiro, while Graham is an animation supervisor and instructor at local and overseas studios.

Nickelodeon's hit prank show The Substitute is coming to Nickelodeon in Spain and Portugal!


From the producers of Undercover Boss, the series sees celebrities, including Jace Norman, JoJo Siwa, Ne-Yo, Lilly Singh and John Cena transformed by a team of special effects artists to go undercover as substitute teachers, surprising classes of unsuspecting students.

The Substitute will premiere on Nickelodeon Iberia on Saturday 5th September 2020, airing weekends at 18:20 on Nickelodeon Portugal and at 19:20h on Nickelodeon Spain (España).

The Substitute is locally titled El Sustituto in Spain and O Substituto in Portugal.

В пятницу 11 сентября покажем две новые серии: одна за одной сразу после школы в 16:05 МСК. Через неделю, 18 сентября, в то же время ещё две серии: специальный эпизод с воспоминаниями Генри обо всех его приключениях (тут мы потихоньку начинаем плакать) и обычная новая серия. А совсем уж грустить, но и радоваться одновременно, будем 25 сентября. Ведь в этот день мы покажем сразу ТРИ ФИНАЛЬНЫЕ СЕРИИ подряд, тоже в 16:05 МСК. Да, для тех, кто учится после обеда, мы всё это повторим: по пятницам в 22:30 МСК и в выходные — в 16:30, 22:05 МСК.

Сюрприз: зрители финала 25 сентября смогут попасть ещё и на предпоказ нового шоу — «Опасный отряд». Познакомимся с героями и наконец узнаем, что же будет дальше!

Новые серии: «Nickelodeon: Учитель на замену»

Планы на сентябрьские выходные тоже готовы, будем наблюдать за одним беспокойным парком развлечений из мира LEGO. В ближайшее воскресенье покажем 10 серию первого сезона, там снова чудит Дэнни — решает напоить динозавров ЭНЕРГЕТИКОМ. Мало того, что это вредно, в случае с динозаврами это ещё и супер-опасно… Но мы верим, что Оуэн и Клэр не подведут и на этот раз. Новые серии «Мир Юрского периода: Легенда острова Нублар» смотрим по воскресеньям в 17:45 МСК.

Новые серии: «Мой шумный дом»

Целых две недели новых серий! Линкольна и его сестёр ждут всяческие приключения. Лола, например, будет покорять новые вершины шоу бизнеса, Луан освоится в кулинарном кружке, а Лана исполнит мечту и примет участие в гонках!

Смотреть мультик будем по будням после школы — в 17:45 МСК, с 7 по 18 сентября.

Премьера: «Рюкзак Олли»

Этой осенью у нас появятся новые друзья! Олли — обычный подросток, но с невероятной тягой к приключениям и с очень ответственной миссией. Всё дело в том, что в рюкзаке Олли прячется портал в мир монстров! И они, конечно же, не сидят там спокойно, а то и дело пытаются вырваться в мир обычных людей. Теперь Олли и его друзьям предстоит то и дело спасать Землю, совмещая эту непростую миссию с жизнью «обычного подростка».

Да-да, мы видели все просьбы показать продолжение! С 14 сентября в эфире второй сезон «Колдовской истории». У ребят тоже начинается новый учебный год, но в этой школе всё непросто, ведь там полно волшебников и, кажется, появился ещё один новенький… Это шоу тоже смотрим после уроков — по будням в 15:45 и 22:05 МСК.

Марафоны

Насколько хорошо ты знаешь всех сестёр Линкольна? Если вдруг ты не помнишь, чем увлекается Лиза и на чём играет Луна, советуем посмотреть наш марафон «Шумные сёстры»! С 7 по 18 сентября по будням, прямо перед новыми сериями, в 17:20 МСК.

А выходные мы проводим с Губкой Бобом: марафоны по субботам и воскресеньям в 12:30 МСК с разными сериями!

Burbank, Calif. – 14 de julio de 2020 – Los niños en edad preescolar emprenderán fantásticas aventuras en altamar en la nueva serie animada de NickelodeonSantiago of the Seas, que se estrenará el viernes 9 de octubre a las 12:30 p.m. (hora del este y hora del Pacífico). Con contenido en idioma español y relacionado con la cultura latina y caribeña, la serie de acción y aventuras (20 episodios) es protagonizada por Santiago “Santi” Montes, un valiente pirata de 8 años con buen corazón que organiza arriesgados rescates, busca tesoros y custodia la seguridad de los mares en un mundo del Caribe de fantasía. Luego de su estreno en EE.UU., Santiago of the Seas se lanzará en los canales Nickelodeon y Nick Jr. a nivel internacional.

En la serie, la fiel tripulación de Santiago (Kevin Chacon) está compuesta por Tomás (Justice Quiroz), su torpe y enérgico primo cuya guitarra mágica puede usarse para conjurar al viento; y Lorelai (Alyssa Cheatham), una sabia sirena que puede hablar con las criaturas marinas y transformarse en una niña humana. Desarrollando una Serie Animada Original


Como parte de las conferencias impartidas en el Festival Pixelatl 2020, en esta ocasión te traemos la información acerca del desarrollo de una serie animada original. Para esto se contó con la presencia de Niki López, una artista que relata su experiencia como creadora a la hora de idear un proyecto, presentarlo ante los ejecutivos del estudio y finalmente dirigir el proceso de desarrollo.

A su vez se tuvo la colaboración de Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, quien es la productora ejecutiva de “Santiago of the Seas”. Al ser también la directora ejecutiva de series animadas en Nickelodeon, Dana trabajó de cerca con Niki para poder desarrollar y producir esta serie animada original.

Iniciando en la Industria Animada

Niki, quien es originaria de Puerto Rico, cuenta que su pasión por contar historias vino a través de la región donde creció así como de jugar videojuegos cuando era pequeña. Lo que más le llamaba la atención en ambos casos era una mitología extensa así como su profunda historia.

Al pasar cada vez más tiempo dibujando, Niki se dio cuenta de que quería ser una artista durante toda su vida. Posteriormente asistió al Colegio de Arte y Diseño en Florida, donde aprendió acerca de storyboarding, diseño de personajes y modelado en 3D con Autodesk Maya. No obstante, terminó por enfocar su carrera en el campo de la ilustración.

Lamentablemente al regresar a Puerto Rico y ver que no había empleos en estudios de animación, Niki comenzó trabajando para una agencia de publicidad. A pesar de no ser su trabajo ideal, aprendió sobre la importancia de hacer una buena presentación y saber vender ideas. Esto es algo que después le sirvió para mejorar sus pitches una vez que entró en la industria de animación.

A su vez, comenta que en ese tiempo se enfocó a mejorar su portafolio de arte y habilidades de dibujo para poder estar al nivel de los profesionales. Por esta razón, Niki comenta que aún si no logras obtener el empleo que deseas, no debes desanimarte. Por el contrario, sigue esforzándote y continúa paso a paso hasta llegar a la meta.

Finalmente, Niki decidió arriesgarse al tomar todos sus ahorros y viajar a Burbank, California, en Estados Unidos. Su intención era formar parte de una expo creativa donde estarían presentes distintas empresas de animación. Por esta razón, Niki insiste en la importancia de hacer networking y crear lazos con otros artistas en la industria. De esta manera, en 2010 fue capaz de entrar a un programa de internado en Nickelodeon, trabajando en Kung Fu Panda: La Leyenda de Po.

Desarrollando la Idea para una Serie Animada Original

En el caso de Niki, admite que la idea detrás de Santiago of the Seas surgió tras todos los pitches de otras ideas que habían sido rechazadas. Afirma que a pesar de que fueran rechazados, le fue útil realizar varios pitches para así adquirir la experiencia necesaria que llevó al pitch de Santiago of the Seas ser un éxito.

En aquel entonces, Niki había escuchado que Nick Jr buscaba producir una serie con temática de piratas. Por esta razón, decidió inspirarse por la cultura puertorriqueña e idear a un personaje latinoamericano y caribeño. Esta idea fue del agrado de Mary Harrington, ejecutiva de producción y desarrollo en Nickelodeon, quien le pidió que desarrollara más su idea.

De esta manera, Niki regresó a Puerto Rico durante un mes para investigar más acerca de su cultura e historia. Posteriormente viajó a Nueva Orleans, para continuar su investigación. Admite que fue un poco complicado hallar la manera de adaptar la época de los piratas para una serie infantil. No obstante, pudo armar su nueva biblia de animación con todas las ideas para su historia, personajes y escenarios y la envió a Nickelodeon para revisión. Nuevamente, fue Mary Harrington quien le dio su aprobación, anunciándole que su proyecto entraría en desarrollo.


Acerca de este proceso, Niki entiende que puede ser frustrante para muchos artistas y es normal ponerse nervioso. No obstante, recomienda que mejor te enfoques en ordenar tus ideas y en presentar aquello que tanto te apasiona. De esta manera, el resto fluirá de manera natural y podrás hacer un mejor pitch.

Al ser su primera serie en desarrollo, Niki recibió el apoyo de otros artistas veteranos en Nickelodeon. Durante el primer mes se reunieron para concebir ideas que permitieran desarrollar el proyecto y adaptarse a la marca de Nick Jr. Sin embargo, este periodo fue particularmente difícil para Niki: ya que debía seguir haciendo su trabajo en la serie de Glitch Techs a la par que desarrollaba su propia serie de Santiago of the Seas.

Finalmente tras varios meses de trabajo en desarrollo, Nickelodeon decidió pasar a la siguiente etapa y comenzar producción formalmente de Santiago of the Seas. Afortunadamente, Niki tenía algo de experiencia en este aspecto. Durante su tiempo como parte del programa de internado en Nickelodeon trabajo como asistente de producción.


De toda esta experiencia, Niki concluye que es realmente importante investigar el tema sobre el cual quieres basar tu serie animada. También debes conocer el contenido actual que se produce y cómo puedes ofrecer una idea nueva e innovadora. Debes asegurarte que tu proyecto vaya de acuerdo al contenido del estudio o cadena televisora donde vayas a hacer tu pitch.

Y por supuesto, es fundamental crear lazos con otros artistas y ejecutivos de la industria, ya que esto puede ser de gran ayuda no solo para obtener un trabajo sino para que tu idea entre a desarrollo. Por último, aprende de todas tus experiencias y no te desanimes. Incluso si no consigues que tu idea sea aprobada en tu primer pitch, no dejes de intentarlo. Si es algo que realmente te apasiona, sigue adelante y mantén una visión del proyecto que deseas llevar a la luz.

Nickelodeon Australia has announced the spongeriffic news that Nickelodeon's beloved animated series SpongeBob SquarePants will have its own pop-up TV channel on Foxtel channel 700 for the September school holidays!


The announcement:

To celebrate the September school holidays, SpongeBob SquarePants will be popping-up on Foxtel with his very own dedicated channel from Thursday, 17 September to Tuesday, October 6.

Kids and big kids at heart are invited to hang out with SpongeBob and his friends from Bikini Bottom, absorbing all the nautical nonsense from the laugh-out-loud, globally-acclaimed series as part of a 20-day mega marathon featuring 480 hours of nautical nonsense. Are ya’ ready?!

Sharing is caring, which is why SpongeBob has opted to sharing his screen time with two talented young Aussies, Ash Magic, an 18-year-old magician from Sydney, and Morgan Hipworth, a 19-year-old culinary mastermind from Melbourne.

While Ash dazzles with his magic tricks that will see everyone’s favourite yellow sponge ‘pop-up’ in some unusual places, Morgan will tantalise tastebuds with his delicious SpongeBob inspired dishes sure to delight young and old.

SpongeBob SquarePants will pop-up on Foxtel (#700) from Thursday, 17 September to Tuesday, 6 October.

Viral TikTok Videos Give 'Avatar The Last Airbender' a 'Hamilton' Makeover

Hamilton has long been one of the most popular Broadway shows, recently arriving on Disney+ with a movie that taped one of the performances, and one fan has been able to cleverly combine one of the most famous songs from the stage play with the beloved animated series of Avatar: The Last Airbender. With the stage play following the life of Alexander Hamilton and the birth of the nation that is the United States of America, this particular song is belted out by King George in the show while the TikTok video places the Fire Lord Ozai into the king's shoes!


Avatar: The Last Airbender might have a live action adaptation in the books with the feature length film that was received to a very critical reception, but Netflix is once again attempting to mine the idea by creating a live action television series. While there hasn't been an official musical created revolving around the adventures of Aang and his gang of friends, one of the funniest episodes of the series revolved around the Ember Island Players, who attempts to capture the series of Avatar into a stage play that hilariously got a number of events wrong.

Tik Tok Creator Lauren Hiilani shared this amazing fusion between Avatar: The Last Airbender and Hamilton that is able to take the events from the series focusing on Aang and the gang and perfectly matching them with the catchy tune belted out by King George in Hamilton:

The Fire Lord Ozai was easily one of the most evil characters in Avatar: The Last Airbender, shoving his people and his country toward a path of world domination in which the Fire Nation wasn't afraid to destroy anyone that got in their path. Of course, the Fire Nation's rampage came to a head during the finale of the Nickelodeon produced animated series when Aang decided to face Ozai head on. With the previous Avatars telling Aang that he needed to kill Ozai in order to save the world, the current Avatar decided to take a different route and instead stole Ozai's ability to bend.

This is the second fan-made Avatar: The Last Airbender musical.

In case you missed it, Hamilton star once performed the Blaze and the Monster Machines theme song for his son, Sebastian!

Nickelodeon Latin America and Brazil to Premiere 'The Substitute' in September 2020

Nickelodeon's hit prank show The Substitute is coming to Nickelodeon in Latin America and Brazil!


From the producers of Undercover Boss, the series sees celebrities, including Jace Norman, JoJo Siwa, Ne-Yo, Lilly Singh and John Cena transformed by a team of special effects artists to go undercover as substitute teachers, surprising classes of unsuspecting students.

The Substitute will premiere on Nickelodeon Latin America (Latinoamérica) and Nickelodeon Brazil (Brasil) on Friday 11th September 2020 at 20:00 (Br.) 21:00 (Col.).

The Substitute is locally titled El Suplente in Latin America and O Substituto in Brazil.


The premiere episode guest stars Jace Norman (Henry Danger) as he goes undercover at Luther Burbank Middle School to prank students in a variety of subjects ranging from gym to science.

Using full prosthetics and a fool-proof costume, a team of special effects artists transform Norman into a completely unrecognisable substitute teacher who is ready to give his students an unforgettable surprise. During the reveal, a $25,000 donation is made to the school.


The Substitute is produced by Industrial Media’s The Intellectual Property Corporation, and Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman (Undercover Boss), with Mike Harney serving as showrunner. Production of The Substitute for Nickelodeon is overseen by Rob Bagshaw, Executive Vice President, Unscripted Content.
