BURBANK, Calif.--September 01, 2020--Ramsey Naito has been named President of Nickelodeon Animation, it was announced today by ViacomCBS Kids & Family President Brian Robbins, to whom Naito will continue to report. In this position, Naito oversees the network’s animation content across all formats and platforms--spanning linear, digital, TV movies, theatrical motion pictures and SVOD. Formerly Executive Vice President of Animation Production and Development for the Nickelodeon Group, Oscar®-nominated producer Naito joined Nickelodeon in 2018 and has since overseen a renaissance at the studio of animation content and production in scale and creativity.

“Ramsey has led the transformation of our Animation Studio through the combination of impeccable creative vision and on-point business instincts, and her appointment to President reflects the scope of talent and soul she brings to our organization,” said Robbins. “In very short order, she has re-energized and rebuilt our animation teams while bringing in a string of new talent, storytellers, artists, production teams and voice actors to elevate Nick’s overall animation output and leadership position even further.”

Naito has been a driving force in bringing new projects, top talent and key partnerships to Nickelodeon Animation, to further bolster its content pipeline across preschool, kids, theatrical and its studio business. Notable projects include: the highly anticipated Star Trek: Prodigy from Nickelodeon and CBS Television Studios; best-selling book adaptations Real Pigeons Fight Crime, produced by James Corden and Ben Winston, and the critically acclaimed Big Nate; Tiny Chef in partnership with Imagine Kids+Family; Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theatrical motion picture in partnership with Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver, helmed by Jeff Rowe, and PAW Patrol: The Movie targeting a 2021 release; and the first-ever SpongeBob SquarePants spinoff Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years.

Simultaneously, Naito manages the day-to-day operations of Nickelodeon’s current series and development slate, overseeing the network’s key franchises including: SpongeBob SquarePants, The Casagrandes, The Loud House, Baby Shark, Blue’s Clues & You!, Santiago of the Seas, the upcoming Rugrats reboot and the recently announced original series Middlemost Post.

To continue growing Nickelodeon’s animation business beyond linear, in 2019, Naito oversaw the network’s multi-year output deal with Netflix to produce original animated feature films and television series, based both on the Nickelodeon library of characters as well as all-new IP for kids and families globally. This deal marked an expansion of the existing relationship between the companies, which has already brought several popular titles to Netflix, including animated specials Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling and Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus, and specials based on The Loud House and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Building an inclusive and diverse culture at the animation studio and developing emerging and homegrown talent has been a strong point in Naito’s mission throughout her time at Nickelodeon. Naito has brought in more than 500 new employees across dozens of animation productions, and since employees began working remotely in March, over 150 new positions have been filled with studio productions operating virtually at 100%. Nickelodeon currently has over 40 animated shows in production across series, its studio business and movies, and is pacing to nearly double its production slate by end of 2020. Under Naito’s leadership, Nickelodeon also held its first-ever virtual job fair this year, garnering nearly 6000 attendees globally, exemplifying a commitment to hire inclusively and to reflect authenticity and diversity in storytelling.

Prior to Nickelodeon, Naito oversaw production on Paramount Pictures’ upcoming theatrical Sponge on the Run, slated to debut on CBS All Access early 2021. Naito produced DreamWorks Animation’s Oscar®-nominated feature, The Boss Baby, while also earning her a PGA nomination for Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures. Prior to DreamWorks Animation, Ramsey worked as a producer for Blue Sky Studios, at Cartoon Network as Head of Movies and at Nickelodeon Movies as Vice President of Development & Production. Her executive and producer credits include: Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins (2009), Barnyard (2006), The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004), The Wild Thornberrys Movie (2002), Hey Arnold! The Movie (2002), the Oscar®-nominated Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius (2001), Rugrats in Paris: The Movie (2000), and South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (1999).

Naito is a member of Women in Animation, the Producers Guild of America and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Maryland Institute College of Art and her Master of Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts. Paramount Home Entertainment and Nickelodeon Home Entertainment will release The SpongeBob Musical: Live On Stage!, which reunites members of the original award-winning Broadway company on DVD on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 for the suggested retail price of $10.99. Joining the cast is veteran SpongeBob SquarePants voice actor Tom Kenny as “Patchy the Pirate,” performing the original Sara Bareilles song “Poor Pirates.” Following a critically lauded run on Broadway, The SpongeBob Musical: Live On Stage! was filmed for television in front of a live audience at the Theatre Royal Plymouth in the U.K., capturing all-new depths of theatrical innovation, where the power of optimism really can save the world.

The The SpongeBob Musical: Live On Stage! DVD includes an exclusive extended sing-along version of the musical, as well as a bonus photo gallery.


The stakes are higher than ever in the staged production, as SpongeBob and all of Bikini Bottom face the total annihilation of their undersea world. Chaos erupts. Lives hang in the balance. And just when all hope seems lost, a most unexpected hero rises up and takes center stage.

The SpongeBob Musical: Live On Stage! made its TV debut on Nickelodeon USA on Saturday, Dec. 7, and has since rolled onto Nickelodeon channels internationally.

“I’ve had a blast portraying live-action suburban buccaneer and President of the SpongeBob SquarePants Fan Club, ‘Patchy the Pirate,’ since the character’s first appearance in season two of SpongeBob SquarePants way back in 2000,” said Kenny. “I loved The SpongeBob Musical, and I was thrilled to be included in it both in pre-recorded (‘French Narrator’) and songwriter (‘Best Day Ever’) forms! The SpongeBob Musical: Live On Stage! cast includes Ethan Slater as SpongeBob SquarePants, Gavin Lee as Squidward Q. Tentacles, Danny Skinner as Patrick Star, Brian Ray Norris as Eugene Krabs, Wesley Taylor as Sheldon Plankton, Christina Sajous as Sandy Cheeks and Tom Kenny as ‘Patchy the Pirate’. The ensemble includes Kyle Hamilton, Katie Lee Hill, Curtis Holbrook, Jesse JP Johnson, L’ogan J’ones, Jai’len Josey, Kelvin Moon Loh, Lauralyn McClelland, Vasthy Mompoint, Bryonha Marie Parham, Oneika Phillips, Jon Rua, JC Schuster, Abby C. Nickelodeon Latin America (Latinoamérica) has announced the first-round of nominees for Kids' Choice Awards México 2020!


Kids' Choice Awards is the world's largest children's and teen awards, and celebrates kids’ favourites from the worlds of entertainment, music, sports and more.

Not much is currently known about Kids' Choice Awards México 2020, the 11th annual local edition of Nick's Kids' Choice Awards slimefest tentpole, however, due to the on-going COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, it's expected that KCA México 2020 will look a little different than previous years by foregoing its annual on-the-ground event, and instead be hosted from a studio or an "at home" setting, following in the footsteps of Nickelodeon Germany (Deutschland), Switzerland (Schweiz) and Austria (Österreich), and Nickelodeon USA, who held their editions of Kids' Choice Awards in a virtual setting, as well as Nickelodeon Brazil (Brasil), who is hosting Meus Prêmios Nick 2020 in a studio setting. If this is the case, fans can still expect lots of stars, orange blimps and, of course, slime!


NICKELODEON KIDS´CHOICE AWARDS MÉXICO 2020: PRENOMINADOS
Fans across México are now able to vote for their favourites from the worlds of entertainment and social media across 22 voting categories online at https://www.kcamexico.com and on Twitter using the hashtags below. Fans can vote as many times as they wish to support their favourites from the worlds of entertainment, music, sports and more!

Voting will happen in two stages. In stage one, each category has eight nominees and is open until Sunday 20th September 2020. The four nominees with the most votes in each category will then move onto the final stage of voting.

Each voting Tweet must feature both the unique hashtag and #KCAMEXICO in it for the vote to be counted:

For example, if you want to see It's Pony win the orange blimp for "Nick Show Favorito", your Tweet should look similar to:

Nickelodeon Latinoamérica confirmó hoy la onceava entrega de los Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards México 2020 (#KCAMexico) y reveló la lista de los pre nominados de este año.

Kids’ Choice Awards México 2020

Las votaciones se podrán hacer a través de los sitios web de kcamexico.com, nickelodeon.la y desde Twitter e Instagram incluyendo el hashtag oficial del evento #KCAMexico más el de su pre nominado favorito.

Los fans serán los únicos en decidir con su voto quiénes serán los nominados finalistas de cada una de las 22 categorías.

¡Es tiempo de elegir! Está abierta la votación de los Kids’ Choice Awards México 2020

Los prestigiosos premios de Nickelodeon llegan a México otra vez y podrás escoger a tus artistas favoritos. ¿Quiénes son los candidatos y cómo hacer para votar?

¿Quiénes serán los sucesores de Emilio Osorio y Karol Sevilla? Como cada año desde 2010, los Kids’ Choice Awards volverán en su versión mexicana y buscarán a los mejores artistas según la opinión del público. Si bien esta vez no será en el Auditorio Nacional, Nickelodeon prepara un gran fiesta y ya está lista la votación para elegir a los finalistas.

Mediante el sitio oficial del evento se podrá elegir entre ocho pre-candidatos de 22 categorías, de los cuales quedará la mitad para ir por un premio. La compulsa está disponible desde este 24 de agosto y finalizará el 20 de septiembre, día en que se publicarán los elegidos y comenzará la votación final para otorgar los reconocimientos.

Si bien aún no hay fecha para la ceremonia, se ajustará a una versión virtual al igual que Kids’ Choice Awards 2020 celebrados en abril y con la conducción de Victoria Justice. Será la primera vez desde 2015 que no se hace en el Auditorio Nacional. Anteriormente también se realizó en el World Trade Center Ciudad de México y el Teatro Chino de Six Flags México.

Entre las ternas más importantes se destaca la de mejor actriz: Macarena García, Loreto Peralta, Azul Guaita, Evaluna Montaner, Pilar Pascual, Paulina Goto, Isabela Souza y Michelle Olvera irán por el galardón. En tanto, entre los actores están Vadhir Derbez, José Gimenez Zapiola (El Purre), Joaquín Bondoni, Sebastián Silva, Julio Peña, Riccardo Frascari, Emilio Osorio y Luis De La Rosa.

Además, los programas de Nickelodeon que pueden llevarse el destacado es Loud House

A huge congratulations to Emma Roberts and Garrett Hedlund, who have just announced that they're expecting their first child!

The happy news was revealed on Us Weekly's Hot Hollywood news podcast.


Emma Roberts’ mom, Kelly Cunningham, confirmed her pregnancy hours after the news broke, when fans rushed to the comments section of Cunningham’s most recent Instagram post on Thursday, June 25, to inquire about the 29-year-old actor. “Is Emma pregnant?????” one person asked, to which she replied: “Yes!!”

The couple have yet to comment on their baby news.

The couple were first linked in March 2019 when they were spotted holding hands in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. “Garrett and Emma have been friends, but this is new, casual, and just a couple of weeks old,” a source told Us at the time.

The insider added that the Nickelodeon alun, 29, and the actor, 35, are “having fun and enjoying each other.”

This came after Us confirmed that the actress had ended her engagement to on-again, off-again fiancé Evan Peters.

“Emma and Evan were heading for a split and now are just friends,” a source revealed in March 2019. “Evan has moved out. It wasn’t a bad breakup.”

The former couple started dating in 2012 after filming Adult World and went on to share the screen for four American Horror Stories seasons.

Roberts starred in the Nickelodeon sitcom Unfabulous, which followed the the lives of music-loving teenager Addie Singer (Roberts) and her friends. The series ran for 41 episodes over three seasons from 2004 to Dec. 16, 2007.

The Scream Queens alum spoke of her split in May 2019, telling Cosmopolitan: “I think that no matter who you are or what you do or wherever in the world you are, anything ending is hard. Losing something is hard. And the only thing I can say for that is … I’m realizing that life is highs and lows. I’m trying to ride them out and live somewhere in the middle.”

“It’s hard enough to be with someone by yourself, let alone with an audience,” she admitted to Cosmopolitan in June 2019.

The New York native went on to explain, “When you’re low, you think it’s never going to end. When you’re high, you’re so scared of it ending. And I’ve lived in both of those places for too long.”

As for Hedlund, the Tron: Legacy star previously dated Kirsten Dunst from 2011 to 2016.

As of January, Roberts and Hedlund were not planning on making their romance official. The twosome were “having fun and enjoying each other” but “not talking an engagement or marriage at the moment,” a source told Us.

Update (9/1) - Emma Roberts has confirmed on social media that she is pregnant with her first child with boyfriend Garrett Hedlund! The 29-year-old shared pictures showing her baby bump and revealed the gender of her child as well. "Me...and my two favorite guys," Emma Roberts had captioned the now viral picture.

Nickelodeon Brazil (Brasil) has announced the finalists of Meus Prêmios Nick 2020, Nickelodeon's Brasil's 21st annual local version of the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards!


Meus Prêmios Nick is Brazil's largest children's and teen awards, and celebrates kids’ favourites from the worlds of entertainment, music, sports and more.

This year's MPN will be a little different than previous years. Due to the on-going COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, Nickelodeon Brasil will be foregoing their annual on-the-ground Meus Prêmios Nick event, and instead will be hosting the event from a studio setting, following in the footsteps of Nickelodeon Germany (Deutschland), Switzerland (Schweiz) and Austria (Österreich), and Nickelodeon USA, who held their editions of Kids' Choice Awards in a virtual setting. However, Nick is still promising fans lots of stars, orange blimps and, of course, slime! For the first time ever, Meus Prêmios Nick will be produced and aired live across Nickelodeon's linear and digital channels.

Over the past month, NickHeads in Brazil cast more than 75 million votes for their favourites to become finalists in each category, with the top four (out of eight) most voted for nominees in each of the voting categories going onto the final stage of voting.

Kids across Brazil can now vote for who they want to see win a coveted Nickelodeon Blimp Award across 24 award categories by voting online at meuspremiosnick.com.br, on selected posts on Instagram and on Twitter using the hashtags below. Fans can vote as many times as they wish to support their favourites from the worlds of entertainment, music, sports and more!

Voting will happen in two stages. In stage one, each category has eight nominees and is open until Thursday 13th August 2020. The four nominees with the most votes in each category will then move onto the final stage of voting.

Each voting Tweet must feature both the unique hashtag and #MPN in it for the vote to be counted:

This years Meus Prêmios Nick will feature the "Melhore Seu Mundo" award, in which fans can vote for the celebrity who they think has had a positive impact on the world in which we live.

Nickelodeon will reveal the winners of Meus Prêmios Nick 2020 on Sunday 27th September 2020 at 19h!

This year, Meus Prêmios Nick will feature the MPN Squad, a team of fan-favourite influencers! In addition to being responsible for presenting the awards, they will also produce exclusive content about MPN on social networks. Nickelodeon will reveal the MPN Squad in the coming weeks on Instagram, @NickelodeonBr and @TrendyByNickBr! The first members of the MPN Squad to be announced are Bibi Tatto, Klara Castanho and Raissa Chaddad. Bibi will host the digital categories.

A Nickelodeon anunciou as marcas Acrilex, Batavo Kids, Netflix, Playstation, Riachuelo e Samsung como patrocinadores da 21ª edição do Meus Prêmios Nick.

Neste ano, a premiação foi adaptada à nova realidade e terá, pela primeira vez, entradas ao vivo na TV e redes sociais, simultaneamente.

De acordo com Ari Martire, diretor sênior de Ad Sales e brand solutions da ViacomCBS Brasil, as marcas parceiras estão 100% inseridas na construção da narrativa do evento para que a integração seja fluída e dinâmica. “Enaltecendo esse novo formato, a premiação mantém a essência de sempre, incluindo todo o engajamento e ecossistema que se cria ao longo de meses. Entendemos que para o nosso público importa muito o sentimento de compartilhar uma experiência ao vivo, mesmo que à distância. O show em si é a coroação do projeto como um todo, pois são meses de conteúdo e entretenimento para milhares de pessoas,” diz.

A data do Meus Prêmios Nick foi revelada pelo canal Nickelodeon nesta terça-feira, 1º. Voltada para o público jovem a premiação ocorrerá no dia 27 de setembro, um domingo, às 19h.

Pela primeira vez em suas 21 edições, o Meus Prêmios Nick será ao vivo e contará com entradas simultâneas na televisão e nas redes sociais da Nickelodeon. Serão entregues prêmios em 24 categorias, incluindo sete que foram introduzidas em 2020. Entre elas estão TikToker do Ano e Live do Ano.

A cantora Malu Gavassi e a atriz Maisa Silva são os dois nomes com mais indicações, seis cada uma. Os prêmios são distribuídos por votação popular, que pode ser feita por um site ou pelas redes sociais. Confira todos os indicados e veja como votar nos Meus Prêmios Nick clicando aqui.

Outra novidade é a premiação do 'zeppy prateado', que tem o objetivo de homenagear uma pessoa por “ações que impactam positivamente o mundo” e cujo vencedor será escolhido pelo canal Nickelodeon.

A cerimônia ocorrerá em um estúdio, que deve seguir as regras de segurança de entidades da saúde, sem a presença de plateia ou de convidados. As apresentações musicais devem ser anunciadas em breve.

Preschoolers are set for more heart-warming adventures with their favourite coat-clad bear, as Paddington returns to screens in the brand-new CG-animated series The Adventures of Paddington!

Premiering on Nickelodeon Latin America (Latinoamérica) and Nickelodeon Brazil (Brasil) on Monday 7th September 2020 at 16:00 (Méx), The Adventures of Paddington centres on a younger Paddington as he writes letters to Aunt Lucy celebrating the new things he has discovered through the day’s exciting activities. The series is a Heyday Films and STUDIOCANAL production in association with Copyrights. Locally titled Las aventuras del oso Paddington in Latin America and As aventuras de Paddington in Brazil, The Adventures of Paddington will air weekdays at 16:00 (Méx) on Nickelodeon.

In the English dub of The Adventures of Paddington, actor Ben Whishaw (Paddington 1 & 2) reprises his role as the voice of the title character, alongside new cast members Morwenna Banks, Bobby Beynon, Sheena Bhattessa, Darren Boyd, Noel Clarke, Phyllis Logan, Monica Lopera, Sabrina Newton-Fisher, David Schofield, Reece Shearsmith (The League of Gentlemen, Inside No. 9), Liz Sutherland-Lim and Jeremiah Waysome.

The Adventures of Paddington also features a brand-new theme song “Paddington Bear” written and performed by one of Britain’s most successful musicians, Gary Barlow (Take That).

The Adventures of Paddington (52 X 11’) is directed by Adam Shaw and Chris Drew of Blue Zoo (Go Jetters, Digby Dragon, Miffy, Q Pootle 5), and developed for television and written by Jon Foster and James Lamont (The Amazing World of Gumball, Cuckoo, Paddington 1 & 2).

The series is executive produced by multi-award winner David Heyman (producer of all eight of the Harry Potter films, Paddington 1 & 2) and Rosie Alison (Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Paddington 1 & 2). The Adventures of Paddington made its world premiere on Nickelodeon in the U.S. on Monday, Jan. 20, at 12:30 p.m. (ET/PT), following a special preview on Friday, Dec. 20, at 12:30 p.m. (ET/PT). Following its U.S. launch, The Adventures of Paddington will roll out on the net’s international channels and branded blocks beginning March 2020.

In the series premiere, "Paddington Finds a Pigeon," Paddington nurses an injured bird back to health and discovers a new friend in Pigeonton! Then, in "Paddington and the Chores List," Mr. Brown creates a list of chores for Paddington, who accidentally picks up the wrong list!

El Oso Paddington vivirá grandes aventuras por Nickelodeon

Ollie, his two best friends, and an otherworldly backpack, embark on monstrous adventures in Nickelodeon’s new original action-comedy series, Ollie’s Pack, premiering on Nickelodeon Australia and New Zealand on Monday, September 21, at 4pm (AEST).

Produced by Nelvana, the 26-episode, 2D-animated series follows the adventures of Ollie, who is faced with the struggles of tween life and the responsibility of controlling an entire dimension of monsters when he discovers his backpack is a powerful portal to Monsterverse.

Together with Cleo and Bernie, the three friends must protect the earth from the horrifying monsters that have escaped, while calling on the more helpful monsters to help them with their everyday kid problems, including sneaking into movies and winning their school’s Battle of the Bands contest.

In the first episode, “The Chosen One…Stinks,” Ollie’s stinky sweat is a hot commodity in the Monsterverse so he exchanges it with a monster who offers to do his laundry.

Then in “Not Another Superhero Movie,” Ollie and his friends utilise a monster’s powers to make an epic superhero movie for their film club.

The series stars James Hartnett (Cupcake & Dino) as Ollie, an ordinary, impulsive, and creative kid who has been given the status of ‘Chosen One’ and ‘Keeper of the Pack’, Ana Sani (Mysticons) as Cleo, the brave and adventurous comic relief, and David Berni (Rocket Monkeys) as Bernie, the nervy and logical voice of reason.


Along the way, audiences will be introduced to some larger than life monsters including Andre and Bev, a bounty hunting double act, Major Snooch, a high ranking official in the Ministry of Chosen One Affairs, and Rance, a weaselly petty thief in utter denial about his boldfaced stealing.

Ollie’s Pack made its world premiere on Nickelodeon in the U.S. in April 2020, and is slated to debut internationally later this year, reaching over 170 countries and territories.

The series originated from “Monster Pack,” an original short made for Nickelodeon’s 2013 Animated Shorts Program. Creators Pedro Eboli (Cupcake & Dino) and Graham Peterson (Rick & Morty) met at the Vancouver Film School and have now been friends for over 10 years. Pedro is a creator, producer, director and animator from Rio de Janeiro, while Graham is an animation supervisor and instructor at local and overseas studios.

Tainy & J Balvin Top Latin Airplay Chart With 'Agua': 'We Have That Chemistry'

The SpongeBob-featured tune rises 2-1.

Tainy and J Balvin’s “Agua” top s Billboard's Latin Airplay chart, rising 2-1 on the Sept. 5 survey. Balvin accumulates 25 No. 1s, moving closer to Enrique Iglesias’ record 31. Tainy, meanwhile, ups his career count to two leaders.

The tune is from the forthcoming soundtrack to The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run. The song arrived in July, while the film is set to premiere at a date to be announced.

"It's a career highlight," Tainy tells Billboard. "This one is special because it was fun. Working with Balvin is always amazing. We have that chemistry, we are friends and it showed with the final product. We mostly had fun while creating. Adds Balvin, "Que siga el party bajo el agua!" (with the phrase translating to "let the party follow underwater").

Lex Borrero, NEON16 president and Tainy's manager, muses, "It's not every day that you can collaborate with such a huge brand like the SpongeBob franchise. To have the opportunity and to see the song have success means the world to us. Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon have been great partners in this process and we are excited to share the rest of the soundtrack for this incredible feel-good film."

"Agua" tops Latin Airplay with 11.2 million audience impressions, up 12%, in the week ending Aug. 30, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

The song accompanies Tainy and Balvin's fellow chart hit "Un Día (One Day)," with Dua Lipa and Bad Bunny. The collab rises 10-7 on Latin Airplay, up 13% to 6.9 million in reach.

"Agua" concurrently crowns the Latin Pop Airplay chart, where Tainy earns his first leader and Balvin collects his 14th, tying Mana for the third-most No. 1s, after Iglesias (24) and Shakira (19).

On Hot Latin Songs, which blends airplay, streaming and sales data, "Agua" ascends 6-5. Along with its airplay, it drew 3.8 million U.S. streams in the week ending Aug. 27.

Avatar: The Last Airbender has been on the minds of many these days thanks to its recent move to Netflix. The show is on one of the biggest platforms there is, and Avatar has kept consistent traffic coming to Netflix. Of course, this renewed interest prompted some fans to dig up old talk about a fourth season, but the show's original creators say there was never any discussion of altering Avatar's three-season structure.


The information comes from Byran Konietzko and Michael DiMartino. The pair were interviewed by Polygon recently, and it was there they discussed the season four rumors from last year. The pair bluntly debunked such chatter by saying there was never going to be an Avatar season four from them or Nickelodeon.

"There was never going to be a season 4, not from us and not from Nickelodeon. Mike and I planned ATLA to be a three-season arc as far back as our initial pitch in 2002, and in 2008 we finished the story we set out to tell," Konietzko said.

Chiming in, DiMartino said the only reason Avatar saw its story expand after season three was because of a Dark Horse pitch. The publisher wanted to do new stories as graphic novels, and the pitch felt right to the two creators. "We finished the show exactly as we had intended. We hadn’t considered continuing Aang’s story until Dark Horse Comics approached us with the idea of returning to ATLA in graphic novel form. And at that point we worked with writer Gene Luen Yang to expand the story beyond the animated series," he said.

Of course, this reveal does conflict with some info shared by Aaron Ehasz, a head writer on Avatar. The scribe said he came up with several stories for a fourth season after being asked to imagine what one might look like.

"The story I wanted to tell with Aang was about him struggling with taking some of that inside and probably a considerable amount of anger and guilt and big feelings. By the way, guess who would be the best person to have a mini vacation with? It’s Zuko! Someone who’s processed a lot of anger on his own," Ehasz told Den of Geek.

Now, it seems all talk of a fourth season has shuttered. The only new projects Avatar has in store are novels and a live-action adaptation from Netflix. But after DiMartino and Konietzko publicly exited the show on bad terms, fans have been worried about the Netflix original series.

On This Day in 1998: Cousin Skeeter Premiered on Nickelodeon


Never met a cousin like Skeeter!

Cousin Skeeter starred Robert Ri'chard as Bobby, a young boy whose life changed when his strange cousin Skeeter came to live with his family. With Skeeter's help, Bobby learns life lessons and tackles the ups and downs of growing up. The show also included Meagan Good as Bobby's friend Nina, Rondell Sheridan as Bobby's father Andre, and Angela Means as Bobby's mother Vanessa. Skeeter is portrayed by a hand puppet with Bill Bellamy providing his voice,[1] and Drew Massey performing the puppetry, assisted by Alice Dinnean. Within the show, Skeeter is treated like a regular human and no mention of him being a puppet is made. Although the series was shot in a single-camera format, the show used a laugh track. The series ran for 52 episodes over three seasons between September 1, 1998 – May 19, 2001. The show's theme song is an alternate version of 702's 1996 hit "Steelo", written by Missy Elliott.

Nicktoons Facts:The Wild Thornberrys was created by Gabor Csupo and Arlene Klasky with Steve Pepoon, David Silverman and Stephen Sustarsic, the third Klasky Csupo collaboration for Nickelodeon. It premiered on September 1, 1998 and ran for 92 episodes over 5 seasons, plus two feature films (The Wild Thornberrys Movie and Rugrats Go Wild) and a TV movie (The Wild Thornberrys: The Origin of Donnie). The voice cast of The Wild Thornberrys included Lacey Chabert (Meg Griffin in the first season of Family Guy) as Eliza Thornberry, Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers as Donnie and Tim Curry (The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Stephen King's It) as Nigel Thornberry.

Citing audiences’ growing appetite for international content, ViacomCBS’ Nickelodeon International is teaming with an Indian joint venture to co-produce new animated series The Twisted Timeline of Sammy & Raj.

Nickelodeon India, part of the Viacom18 venture between ViacomCBS and India’s Network18, will be the partner on the 20-episode 30 minute 2D series. The companies said it marks “the first collaboration between the top kids’ entertainment brand and the leading Indian kids’ category brand from India’s fastest growing entertainment network.”

"The popularity of international content is on the rise, and Nickelodeon is focused on meeting the rising demand for diverse, creative stories for a global audience," said Jules Borkent, Executive Vice President (EVP), kids & family, ViacomCBS Networks International (VCNI). "This groundbreaking partnership with Viacom18 goes beyond kids’ content as we look to embrace greater diversity both on-screen and behind the camera."

The show will roll out across Nickelodeon International channels in 2021 and could also land on Nickelodeon in the U.S. "With a mysterious time-altering app at their fingertips, the series follows the reality-bending adventures of a pair of cousin-brothers, as they pause, rewind, fast-forward and slow-motion their way into a whole host of rowdy laugh-out-loud exploits," according to a show description.

Work on the series is underway, with animation and storyboards being developed in India, while scripting is in progress in the U.S. and U.K., and casting has been initiated in the U.S.

The head writer of the series is Jordan Gershowitz (The Tom and Jerry Show). Chris Rose, Vice President (VP), animation, Nickelodeon International and Anu Sikka, head creative, content & research, kids TV network at Viacom18, are overseeing the project.

“In the creative world, geographic borders have diminished, as more content is drawn by the hands of global artists from every corner of the world,” said Nina Hahn, Senior Vice President (SVP), international production & development at Nickelodeon International. “The idea for this series was developed in collaboration with the team in India as we sought a way to fuse western and eastern storytelling elements. Indian culture is very much a part of this series’ DNA, and we are eager to share those elements with our global audience.”

Nina Elavia Jaipuria, head of Hindi mass entertainment & kids TV network at Viacom18 said: “Over the years, Nickelodeon India has created successful local IPs and characters that kids love. This partnership with Nickelodeon International has gone beyond the border lines of creativity and stands testimony to the success of Nick India and Nick International in creating groundbreaking content. It further reinforces the capability of the Indian Animation Industry. We are happy to partner with Nickelodeon International for this show and look forward to working together in creating this series for kids across the world.”

Anu Sikka, Head Creative, Content & Research, Kids TV Network at Viacom18 said: “Kids imaginations and aspirations are universal and it’s this learning that has brought this show to life. The series will be showcasing stories that kids around the world will find relatable and engaging, hopefully, opening up more opportunities for future collaboration. Our efforts are to make sure that kids get to experience the best of animation and that this show will stir their imagination and transport them into a new world of adventure.”

The Indian animation and VFX sector is valued at $351 million and is projected to grow 18% annually to reach $463 million by 2022, according to a recent EY Indian media industry report.
