Nickelodeon USA Wins October 2014 With Kids

Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids and families, has announced the exciting Nickelodeon Ratings News in the following press release, from TVByTheNumbers.com, that Nick USA closed the month of October 2014 as the top basic cable network in total day with Kids 2-11 (2.0/617K), driven by solid performances from its hit animation and live-action rosters!


The net's top animated series for the month with Kids 2-11 was "SpongeBob SquarePants" (3.6/1.1M), followed by "Sanjay and Craig" which averaged a 3.3/1.0M. Also, "Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn" (4.1/790K) and "Henry Danger" (4.0/755K) were Nickelodeon's top performing live-action series with Kids 6-11 in October 2014.

With Kids 2-5, Nickelodeon's "PAW Patrol" (4.2/508K), "Blaze and the Monster Machines" (4.0/480K) and "Team Umizoomi" (3.9/469K) were the network's top preschool shows, respectively.

Additionally, Nickelodeon capped off the month of October 2014 with a weekly win (Monday 20th to Sunday 26th October 2014), securing the number-one spot on basic cable in total day with Kids 2-11 (2.0/628K). "SpongeBob SquarePants" was the week's top-ranked animated kids program with total viewers across cable TV, scoring 2.2M P2+. Also, "PAW Patrol" landed as the top preschool series with Kids 2-5, averaging a 6.0/719K.

Hulu Expands Agreement With Viacom To Add More Content From Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, TVLand, Spike, BET and Logo

Craig Erwich, the Senior Vice President (SVP) and head of content of Hulu, has today, Tuesday 28th October 2014, announced the very exciting Nickelodeon News in a post on Hulu's official blog that the company has expanded its agreement with Viacom to continue bringing users thousands of episodes from some of Viacom's most popular series, including classic and current programming from Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids and families!


As part of their extended agreement, which begun in 2011, Hulu will be adding top titles from Nickelodeon to their Hulu Kids offering over the next few weeks, allowing viewers to be able to stream episodes of classic Nickelodeon series such as "Invader Zim", "The Ren & Stimpy Show", "Drake & Josh", "Hey Arnold!", and many more.

Additionally, to all of the great English-language programming that will be available, Hulu will also be expanding their offering of Latino programming for kids by adding a handful of family-friendly Nickelodeon titles such as "SpongeBob SquarePants" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" in Spanish to Hulu:

When we launched our first major agreement with Viacom in 2011, shows like The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report quickly became top shows on Hulu. Three years later, these shows – as well as many more from the Viacom family of networks – still remain among the most popular series on Hulu. Therefore, it was a natural choice for us to extend that relationship with Viacom to bring fan-favorite kids titles, comedy series and reality series from networks including Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, TVLand, Spike, BET and Logo to Hulu.

Today, I am excited to share the news that we are extending our partnership with Viacom –to continue bringing thousands of episodes from some of Viacom's most popular series and a selection of kids content to Hulu. We will be adding top titles from Nickelodeon to our Hulu Kids offering that have never before been made available to stream on Hulu. That means that, soon, viewers will be able to stream episodes of classic series such as Invader Zim, The Ren & Stimpy Show, Drake & Josh, Hey Arnold!, and many more.

Over the coming weeks, Hulu and Viacom will also be refreshing a library of past seasons from some of the funniest shows airing on television today. The great selection of in-season programming from across the networks that we've had on Hulu for the past several years will remain. New episodes of MTV's scripted series Awkward, Happyland, and many more will also continue to be available to stream.

Viacom Expands Program Offerings To Hulu

Today’s announcement doesn’t say how much Viacom will get as it expands the amount of programming it offers on Hulu. But the deal likely will contribute to the debate over whether the entertainment company’s streaming arrangements weaken its appeal to cable and satellite companies.

The update to the alliance which began in 2011 will add lots of Nickelodeon titles on Hulu. “That means that, soon, viewers will be able to stream episodes of classic series such as Invader Zim, The Ren & Stimpy Show, Drake & Josh, Hey Arnold!, and many more,” Hulu Head of Content Craig Erwich says in a blog post about the deal. Nickelodeon also will provide Spanish-language versions of series including SpongeBob SquarePants and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The terms also add library episodes of shows from Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, BET, Logo, Spike, and TVLand. That will include full seasons of Key & Peele, Drunk History, Ridiculousness, Tosh.0, Kroll Show, Inside Amy Schumer, Catfish, Ink Master, 16 & Pregnant, Teen Mom 2, Snooki & JWoww, The Hills, The Jersey Shore, Basketball Wives, Love & Hip Hop, and Mob Wives. “We are also adding select scripted series including Comedy Central’s Workaholics, MTV’s Faking It, and TVLand’s Hot In Cleveland,” Erwich says.

He adds that Hulu “will continue to be a go-to destination to stream The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” and The Colbert Report. MTV’s Awkward and Happyland will be available in their current seasons but on a 21-day delay — not, as Hulu initially said, the day after new episodes air.

Viacom’s new deal follows the announcement that it will support Sony’s planned streaming service. Several small cable companies cited the easy availability of the company’s shows as one reason why they decided to do without its channels.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and Honeywell Team Up With Tia Mowry-Hardrict To Launch Innovative Abduction Prevention Program

Halloween is a fun-filled time for kids and parents alike, but it is also a holiday that requires a mindset of being safe. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and Honeywell Inc. have announced in the following press release, from PRNewswire, that they are teaming up with Nickelodeon Star Tia Mowry-Hardrict ("Instant Mom") to launch KidSmartz, a brand-new program that aims to keep kids safe on Halloween and all year-round!


According to the FBI, police received more than 400,000 reports of missing children last year in the United States. KidSmartz is a personal safety program that educates parents, teachers and other trusted adults and law enforcement about preventing abduction. The program empowers kids in grades K-5 to practice safer behaviors in ways that are fun, innovative and easy-to-implement.

Through the use of videos and engaging animations, KidSmartz helps teach critical safety information to children. The foundation of the KidSmartz curriculum focuses on the four rules of personal safety:

1. Check First
2. Take a Friend
3. Say "No" and Find Help
4. Tell a Trusted Adult

Parents, educators and other trusted adults can find instructional resources such as free classroom lesson plans, take-home printable materials for families, safety checklists and engaging and animated videos to empower kids to practice safer behaviors and reinforce the four rules of personal safety.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and Honeywell Launch Innovative Abduction Prevention Program

Today, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and Honeywell Inc. (NYSE: HON) are teaming up with Nickelodeon actress, Tia Mowry, to launch KidSmartz, a new program that aims to keep kids safe on Halloween and all year-round.

According to the FBI, police received more than 400,000 reports of missing children last year in the United States. KidSmartz is a personal safety program that educates parents, teachers and other trusted adults and law enforcement about preventing abduction. The program empowers kids in grades K-5 to practice safer behaviors in ways that are fun, innovative and easy-to-implement.

"We have been analyzing attempted abductions for almost a decade and have learned a lot about the risks kids face and the strategies they can use to stay safe," said John Ryan, president and CEO of NCMEC. According to Digiguide, Nick UK & Eire/HD will premiere each all-new episode of "Sam & Cat" at 5:00pm and air each brand-new episode of "The Thundermans" at 5:30pm (repeated at 6:00pm and 6:30pm on Nickelodeon+1).


Following the debut of each all-new episode of "Sam & Cat" and "The Thundermans" every Friday, Nick UK & Eire/HD will encore both brand-new episodes the following Monday at 5pm and 5:30pm, respectively (repeated at 6pm and 6:30pm on Nick +1).

Although currently unconfirmed, it is expected that the latest new episodes of "Sam & Cat" will lead up to the British and Irish premiere of the series finale episode of "Sam & Cat", "#GettinWiggy".


Below is a list of currently announced new "The Thundermans" episodes set to debut on Nickelodeon UK in November 2014, with episode descriptions:

Friday 7th November 2014 - Paging Dr. Thunderman: Max and Phoebe take Billy to the hospital when he hurts his thumb. After Max faints, they must stop the doctors seeing his brain scan which could expose their powers!

Friday 14th November 2014 - Breaking Dad: Hank becomes Max and Phoebe's new science teacher. When he accidentally eats special turkey sandwiches that make him fall asleep at school, the twins must help him out.

Friday 21st November 2014 - Four Supes and a Baby: Phoebe drags Billy and Nora to the park to meet her crush and his baby brother, but when Max takes the younger kids home, they accidentally grab the wrong one!

The entertainment industry news magazine The Wrap is reporting that Nickelodeon has today, Monday 3rd November 2014, promoted Cathy Galeota to the position of Senior Vice President (SVP) of Preschool Current Series.

The veteran television executive will now oversee the production of all current Nickelodeon preschool series, including original shows and co-productions. She'll continue reporting to Teri Weiss, the network's Executive Vice President (EVP) of Preschool Original Programming.

Galeota, who has worked at Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids and families, for 18 years, remains executive in charge of the networks newly launched animated series "Dora and Friends: Into the City!", as well as "Dora the Explorer", "PAW Patrol" and the upcoming "Shimmer and Shine".

She began her career with the network in 1997 as part of Nickelodeon's production management group. She went on to become a producer on "Dora the Explorer" and "Go, Diego, Go!".

Prior to joining Nickelodeon, Galeota worked for two other youth-skewing networks — The Disney Channel and the WB. The University of Colorado-Boulder graduate was a production manager and worked in on-air creative branding for the networks:

Nickelodeon promoted Cathy Galeota to senior vice president of Preschool Current Series on Monday.

The veteran television executive will now oversee the production of all current Nickelodeon preschool series, including original shows and co-productions. She'll continue reporting to Teri Weiss, the network's executive vice president of Preschool Original Programming.

"Cathy is an incredible champion of creativity, with a great ability to effectively lead large teams," Weiss said in a statement obtained by TheWrap. "Her production expertise and collaborative spirit have fueled the incredible success of some of the network's recent preschool hits and I look forward to her continued leadership and vision."

Galeota, who has worked at Nickelodeon for 18 years, remains executive in charge of the newly launched “Dora and Friends: Into the City!,” as well as “Dora the Explorer,” “PAW Patrol” and the upcoming “Shimmer and Shine.”

Nickelodeon USA will be adding two new shows, "Hammer Down" and "Nickelodeon's Sports Theater With Shaquille O'Neal", to their Nicktoons USA's recently launched NickSports programming block from Wednesday 5th November 2014!


Nick USA has announced in a Tweet (post) on their official Twitter profile page, @NickelodeonTV, that NickSports will start to premiere and show NASCAR's brand-new series "Hammer Down" from Wednesday 5th November 2014:

Each episode of "NASCAR Hammer Down" profiles the next generation of National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) drivers.

As part of Nickelodeon UK's popular preschool channels' name change, Nick UK has rebranded the channels on-air presentation to feature the logo of the channels new name, "Nick Jr. Too":
