Avatar: The Last Airbender - 'The Complete Series' Blu-ray Box Set is Confirmed for Spring 2018 [Updated With PR]

Update (2/23):IGN has confirmed that Nickelodeon will release the complete series of the networks hit animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender on Blu-ray this summer, and has unveiled a fantastic first look at the Blu-ray box set art, along with a list of all the special features fans can look forward to when Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Complete Series hits stores!

"Go back to the beginning to experience the epic saga of Avatar: The Last Airbender again with this complete collection! From the discovery of Avatar Aang in the frozen iceberg to the mastery of all four elements, from the battle at Ba Sing Se to the final showdown with the Fire Nation, your destiny awaits as you relive all the powerful bending that will blow you away once more!"

Avatar: The Last Airbender left our screens in July 2008, but by the time the finale's 10th anniversary rolls around, fans will finally have the complete series on Blu-ray to let them revisit Aang and the gang.

The Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Complete Series Blu-ray box set will be available exclusively at Best Buy from Tuesday 1st May 2018, before becoming available nationally in the US on Tuesday 5th June 2018 at a suggested retail price (SRP) of $44.99 (USD).

It's a good week for information about the Blu-ray of this show to come to light! Two days ago was the 13th Anniversary of the broadcast debut of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Nickelodeon had three seasons (or "books") for it, each subtitled "Water,""Earth," and "Fire," respectively. Each season had 20 or 21 episodes, and the voice cast included Zach Tyler, Mae Whitman, Jack DeSena, Dante Basco, Mako, Jessie Flower, and Dee Bradley Baker. The show inspired a theatrical film and a spinoff sequel, The Legend of Korra. Internationally, Avatar: The Last Airbender was titled Avatar: The Legend of Aang.

Below is an early look, courtesy of IGN, of the package art for Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Complete Series on Blu-ray Disc. The first image is the actual package, and the bottom image is the slipcover the package slides into (that's what you'll see on store shelves). IGN says to expect a 9-disc set.

Original post:

There has been no official announcement yet from Nickelodeon or their distributors at Paramount Home Media Distribution, but Best Buy's website over this past weekend was found to be listing a Blu-ray Disc release for Nickelodeon's iconic series, Avatar: The Last Airbender. There are no details listed there, nor box art. As you can see from the screen capture below, it simply says "BD-AVATAR:THE LAST AIRBENDER CS (Blu-ray Disc)"...with a release date of Tuesday 1st May 2018 and a cost of $49.99 USD (it's currently unknown if that's an SRP, or if that's Best Buy's discounted pricing; it's not labeled as one or the other).

It isn't currently known whether "CS" is supposed to stand for "complete series" or maybe something else, like "collector set" or anything different. TVShowsOnDVD.com has looked rather extensively at websites for other sellers, in both the USA and for Canada, and they haven't been able to find any other listing for A:TLA on Blu-ray. There's also no listing on wholesaler sites, and their home video retail industry contacts don't have any info about it.

I should caution you that it's currently known how accurate this info is without formal word from Nick/Paramount to confirm the title, format and date.



The news follows one recent Blu-ray title listed at BestBuy.com, where the listing went up with a March date, was taken down, went back up, came back down, went up again but with an October date, then very quickly came back down and hasn't yet returned. So its wise to be cautious at this stage. But as so many fans of the show are talking about this item, let's hope that a official Blu-ray release for this beloved show is announced soon. Nickelodeon and Paramount previously released Avatar: The Last Airbender on DVD in 2015, and spin-off series The Legend of Korra on Blu-ray in 2016.

So consider this a "heads-up," and stay tuned as NickALive! will update you as further developments occur.

Each set features every episode of the beloved animated Nickelodeon series.

Each release are "SD on Blu-ray" editions, so offer DVD quality playback, but uses the storage capacity of the Blu-ray perfectly and thus offers the complete series on just two discs. Each set is Region B/2, so will only be playable in Europe, Greenland, French territories, Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand. HOWEVER, they are currently purchase on Amazon.com in the US! Each set is also available on Amazon.co.uk!

You Will Need:
4 Cups Of Marshmallows
5 Cups Of Rice Cereal
1/2 Cup Of Butter
2 Tsp of Vanilla
2 Cups of Candy Eggs

Step 1: With the help of an adult, melt the marshmallows in the microwave for 25-30 seconds.

Step 2: Add the vanilla extract and melted butter to the melted marshmallows and stir well.

Step 3: Add all the rice cereal, one cup at a time, and mix.

Step 4: Scoop the mixture into a prepared muffin tray and press them into a tart shape.

Step 5: Place in the fridge for 2 hours to set.

Step 6: Once they've cooled and set, take them out of the muffin tray and place candy eggs on them.

Step 1: Stick the cookies onto the popsicle stick.

Step 4: Make a paw print with the pink icing on the 2 white chocolate wafers.

Step 1: Fill your pretzel with the yellow melted chocolate.

Step 2: Add an eye with the black icing, on the top centre of the pretzel.

Li'l Gil always seeks attention and is full of energy & strange ideas. Her silent sidekick and magical partner in crime, Lazybones, lives in her bag and comes to life when summoned. He can help by transforming into a ladder, car, etc.

Nickelodeon USA To Premiere New 44-Minute 'PAW Patrol' Special "The Mighty Pups" During Fall 2018

Spin Master has announced the PAWsome news during the leading global children's entertainment company's Q4 2017 Earnings Conference Call that Nickelodeon USA will premiere a brand-new 44-minute PAW Patrol titled "The Mighty Pups" during Fall 2018, and that Spin Master will be releasing the "Ultimate Rescue" theme for the top-rated CG-animated preschool series and a toy line later this year!


Additionally, Spin Master has revealed that Nickelodeon is slated to debut the networks brand-new animated preschool series Abby Hatcher, Fuzzly Catcher during late 2018 - early 2019!

This adventure comedy series will resonate with all kids, especially with the key demographic of girls aged two to five. The show introduces Abby Hatcher, a seven year old with a giant heart and obsession with her favourite creatures, the Fuzzlies. Her dream comes true when she moves into a hotel filled with the Fuzzlies.

Abby loves playing with the Fuzzlies, so in each episode when a Fuzzly accidentally lands in trouble, Abby heroically saves the day. At its core, Abby Hatcher Fuzzly Catcher models the power of a little girl to bring a whole community together with her eternal optimism and her acceptance of everyone, no matter how different they are.

GUND, the oldest soft toy brand in the United States, which Spin Master recently acquired, will help Spin Master design and develop some incredible plush inspired by the new Fuzzlies in Abby Hatcher.

Viacom Networks Go Off-Air For 17 Minutes In Solidarity With Students Taking Part In National School Walkout Day

North America - Viacom cable networks today, Wednesday, March 14, suspended regular programming in support of a national student walkout over gun violence.

Viacom's networks, including Nickelodeon, MTV, BET and Comedy Central, suspended regular programming by going dark for 17 minutes at 10 a.m. in every time zone in support of National School Walkout day, a month to the day that 17 students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, were murdered by a gunman with a semiautomatic rifle.

Today’s nationwide walk-out kicked off with students in Eastern time zones leaving their classrooms at 10 a.m., and the wave of walk-outs followed the sun as 10 a.m. hit an estimated 3,000 schools across the nation. In Colorado, Columbine High School students staged their walk-out and observed 30 seconds of silence – one second for each of the dead at Parkland and their own school – sometime around mid-day.

In Washington D.C., thousands had gathered outside the White House and on Capitol Hill by late morning, with MSNBC cameras capturing moments like students swarming Bernie Sanders as he spoke through a bullhorn. Elizabeth Warren visited earlier, and other politicians will no doubt drop by as the day goes on.

“Viacom stands with all students as they participate in the national school walkout against gun violence,” read the stark, white-letters-on-black-background message that took the place of regular programming on Comedy Central, VH-1, MTV, BET, Logo, TV Land and other Viacom channels.

As Nickelodeon caters for a younger audience, the network displayed a more kid-friendly message: "In support of kids leading the way today, Nickelodeon will be off the air until 17 minutes past the hour."

On a Viacom company blog, the company posted an explanation for its 17-minute black-out – one minute for each of the slain Parkland students – that reads, in part:

Viacom’s efforts also include a $500,000 donation from Shari Redstone, Vice Chair of Viacom’s Board, to the March For Our Lives movement. Viacom also plans to devote extensive on-air and digital coverage of the March 24 March For Our Lives demonstration in Washington, D.C., like having MTV and Comedy Central change the color of their logos to orange (for gun violence awareness) for the 10 days prior to the march, which organizers say they are expecting more than 500,000 attendees. BET (Black Entertainment Television) will be offering grants for youth activists who have “innovative ideas about addressing gun violence and mental health issues," while CMT plans to work with the country music industry to fight for gun safety.

Programs and Viacom channels planning special or continued coverage leading up to the march include The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, The Opposition w/ Jordan Klepper, Paramount Network and Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards, which airs March 24 and is expected to acknowledge the march in some way. Viacom also says The Daily Show with Trevor Noah"plans to continue its ongoing coverage of the growing anti-gun violence movement in the country."

Students are also taking over MTV’s social media accounts, including Twitter and Facebook, during the walkout.

“This generation continues to be the driving force for change,” said Marva Smalls, Viacom's Executive Vice President (EVP) of Global Inclusion. “With more than 17 young people dying from gun violence every single day, unfortunately, no community is safe.

"We believe it’s critical to support the inspiring efforts of our youth, who are literally fighting for their lives," Smalls continued. "Viacom also has a responsibility to our audiences to do everything we can to elevate the many brave and bold activists to help them extend the reach and impact of their voices in this important movement.”


Though some school districts reportedly have pledged disciplinary action against walking students, thousands of students participated in the protest with official blessing, including many students interviewed by MSNBC reporters as they walked. (Fox News Channel wasn’t covering, at least on a continuous or extensive basis; CNN had stopped covering non-stop by 11:30 a.m. ET).

In the weeks since a gunman claimed 17 lives at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, courageous young people have marched and raised their voices to demand action on gun violence in the United States.

Viacom and its brands have a long history of supporting young people’s movements around the world, and today the company is extending that tradition by leveraging its substantial multi-platform footprint to support these extraordinary individuals and amplify the reach and impact of their activism.

This series of efforts across MTV, BET, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Comedy Central, TV Land, CMT and other properties will include partnerships with a coalition of organizations and students that are working to make America’s schools safer and reduce gun violence.

In addition, Shari Redstone, Vice Chair of Viacom’s Board, is personally championing the work of the student activists, contributing time and resources, including a $500,000 donation, to the March For Our Lives movement.

Here’s a sampling of the initiatives that Viacom brands have planned for the weeks ahead:

A pause to remember the victims

At 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, all Viacom networks and platforms will suspend regularly scheduled programming for 17 minutes. This pause will coincide with the National School Walkout, a tribute to the 17 lives lost in the Parkland shooting, and to all young victims of gun violence. Students across the country will take over MTV’s social media accounts during the walkout.

The power of Viacom’s united brands support a march on Washington

Viacom’s brands will drive awareness of March For Our Lives through extensive on-air and digital coverage, as well as on-the-ground initiatives, leading up to the March For Our Lives demonstration in Washington, D.C. on March 24. MTV and Comedy Central will change the color of their logos to orange – in support of gun violence awareness – for the 10 days leading up to the event. The Daily Show with Trevor Noah plans to continue its ongoing coverage of the growing anti-gun violence movement in the country. So will The Opposition w/ Jordan Klepper, which will build on its recent interviews with students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School as well as educators and former military officials on arming teachers, and the 2017 special he produced, Jordan Klepper Solves Guns. Paramount Network will capture powerful first-person accounts for its pro-social initiative. Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards, which airs that night, will acknowledge the march for its audience of millions.


Supporting efforts to reduce gun violence

Viacom networks have begun an array of ongoing initiatives aimed at curbing gun violence over the long term. For example, MTV has set up a website where people can learn how to take further action, BET will award DISARM pop-up grants to youth activists with innovative ideas about addressing gun violence and mental health issues, and CMT will work with the country music industry on its efforts to support gun safety.

Joining gun safety leaders to drive change

Viacom is partnering with organizations across the spectrum to develop gun safety-related projects for Viacommunity Day, Viacom’s annual day of community service, on April 20.

Get Schooled expands its curriculum

Get Schooled, an organization founded through a partnership between Viacom and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, will expand its efforts to educate young people on the actions they can take to participate in the national discussion.

Nickelodeon Confirms That John Cena Won't Be Hosting It's 'Blue's Clues' Revival

His 'audition' at last week’s upfront went viral, but it was just a joke for buyers

During Nickelodeon's 2018 upfront event last Tuesday, Nickelodeon Group president Cyma Zarghami emceed most of the proceedings, but John Cena spent almost as much time in front of the audience of advertisers, buyers and Viacom staffers. The WWE superstar and actor made several trips onstage at New York’s Palace Theatre, the home of the new hit SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical, to talk about all of the projects he has in the works for the company.

But none of his appearances was more amusing than when Cena strode onstage after Pam Kaufman, Nickelodeon’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and President of consumer products, announced that the network would be reviving one of its most popular shows, Blue’s Clues, for a new generation of preschoolers. The series—which ended its original run in 2006—will feature a new, live-action host and CG animation.

Cena donned the show's iconic green-striped rugby shirt worn by previous hosts Steve Burns and Donovan Patton, and jokingly said he was auditioning for the role, since he was already doing so many Nickelodeon shows.

As part of my upfront coverage, AdWeek reporter Jason Lynch tweeted a picture of Cena onstage in his Blue’s Clues garb:


That tweet went viral, sparking a wave of stories speculating that the audition was real, and that Cena indeed was in consideration for the hosting job. The wrestler contributed to the speculation himself by Instagramming a caption-less Blue’s Clues photo.

The story received new life on Tuesday, when original Blue’s Clues host Steve Burns spoke to TMZ, and said that if Cena was indeed interested in the gig, “he and I should wrestle for it. I’m calling you out, Cena!”

Nickelodeon then tried to play peacemaker on its Twitter feed:


But as all the buyers and advertisers in the Palace Theatre audience were well aware, Cena was never actually auditioning for the role. It was all just an upfront bit, one of many involving talent, network execs and buyers that upfront audiences will undoubtedly see at many of this year’s events. During last year’s NBCUniversal upfront, the company played a clever video in which Ice-T, in character as his Law & Order: SVU alter ego, interrogated buyers who were strapped to a lie detector machine.

After Cena exited the stage following his faux-audition, Zarghami told the audience, “John truly is the definition of a good sport. But he is not the host, just to be clear.”

And to erase any lingering doubts, Nickelodeon confirmed once again today to Adweek that Cena won’t be the next Blue’s Clues host. The network is holding a casting call next month to search for the revival’s host, on April 14 in Burbank, Calif. Unfortunately, all the time slots of the open audition are now filled, however, if you are 18 years old or older and would still like to be considered, you can submit a video audition. (Nickelodeon is seeking women and men of any ethnicity who can play 18-25 years old. Auditionees must be aged 18 or over.)

While he won’t be a part of the revival, Cena is working with Nickelodeon on three other projects for 2018: hosting the Nickelodeon 2018 Kids’ Choice Awards on March 24, for the second consecutive year; voicing a new original villain named Baron Draxum in Nickelodeon's upcoming 2D animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, premiering late 2018; and is executive producing Nickelodeon's Keep It Spotless, the network's brand-new game show, premiering Monday 26th March 2018 at 7:30 P.M. (ET/PT).

Daniella Perkins Has Something to Say — And You'll Want to Listen

The sword-wielding star of Knight Squad is about to make it big.

Daniella Perkins is a totally typical teen off-screen: She loves hanging out with her friends, goofing off with her sister, and creating #content for social media — but on Nickelodeon's latest comedy Knight Squad, she plays a not-so-typical princess. The show premiered February 24, just in time for her to attend Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards this year (where she’ll be doing her very best to get slimed).

We chatted with Dani about her killer new role, what it means to her to be a mixed-race actress, and how she handled intense sword fighting training sessions. Read on for Dani’s awesome advice, and keep an eye out for her on the Orange Carpet on Saturday, March 24.


Nickelodeon

How did you get your start in acting?
I’ve always been very interested in acting. When I was little, I’d be in plays and memorize everyone's lines. I was so infatuated with everything that was going on. But I didn’t know I wanted to act [professionally] until I was about 13 or 14. I asked my mom if I could pursue it, and she was like, "okay!" So I got homeschooled, and I’d look up agencies all the time. I was very determined; the most determined 14 year old ever.

What's it been like to play Ciara, a princess who’s also training to be a knight.
It’s honestly a dream come true. I have all these amazing gowns that the costume and wardrobe people design for me to wear, and I get to be a mixed-race princess — that’s something that you hardly ever see [on TV]. It’s a lot of responsibility, but I feel so grateful for it.

That's so empowering for young girls to see. How does that feel?
Growing up, I saw very few people who looked like me on TV, so with this role, I get to be a person that young people — especially if they’re black or mixed — look up to. That, and the fact that I get to be a knight and a princess, shows girls that they can do anything. It’s just great to see a girl in charge and have power.


Is there any specific training you have to do to play Ciara?
We train every single week; some weeks are more intense than others, depending on the episode. We all do sword fighting, so we can all handle a sword pretty well! Ciara's specialty is a bow and arrow, so we also get trained separately with our trademark weapons.

You post a lot of #ootd pics and style-related content on Instagram. Is fashion something you’re interested in pursuing professionally at some point?

Fashion is definitely a route I’d like to take at some point. I love clothes. For me, how I dress can help my personality shine, and I love being able to express myself through fashion. I design clothes, too — casual clothes that teenagers would wear, mostly. If I think of an idea I like in my head, I’ll draw it out.

Say you’re introducing yourself to someone who’s never met you. What would you want them to know about you?
I’m very goofy. I’ll do things that people find weird, and it’s just sort of something you’ll have to learn to live with! Expect the unexpected from me.

What kinds of things do you love to do when you’re not acting?
Some people in the Knight Squad cast are my best friends, so I’ll hang out with them, or my sister Devenity. I like to stay active, too — I’ll go on a hike, or go to the beach.

How do you balance school and your personal life with your acting career?
We do school on set, so we’ll do an hour in the morning and then rehearse, and then go back to school after. We have to have a minimum of three hours of school per day, and if you don’t have good grades, you can’t act. At first, I thought it would be really hard [to juggle everything], but everybody’s very helpful, and they make sure we get it done.


You’re going to be attending your first Kids’ Choice Awards later this month. What are you looking forward to most?
I am so excited for the Kids’ Choice Awards! It’s a dream. If I could get slimed there, I would be the happiest girl ever. We had slime on set and I was literally rolling in it. I’m also excited to see everyone from Nickelodeon and, of course, to meet new people. Especially John Cena, who’s hosting. I’m so short, so I want to get a picture next to him!

What do you hope to be doing in five years?
Acting. I love it, it’s my passion, and I’m so glad I found it at a young age. I’d love to do action films. With all the training I’m doing for Knight Squad right now, an action film would be perfect! Like, I can hold a sword the correct way — hire me!
