Nickelodeon USA To Premiere New Competition Series 'Keep It Spotless' On Monday 26th March 2018 [Updated]

Nickelodeon USA will premiere the networks brand-new competition series, Keep It Spotless, where teams of kids go head-to-head in messy battles with one goal - to stay clean, on Monday 26th March 2018 at 7:30 P.M. (ET/PT)! Executive produced by WWE Superstar John Cena, the host of the 2018 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards for the second year in the row, the series, which gives a whole new meaning to staying clean, will air weekdays at 7:30 P.M. Update: Nickelodeon has digitally premiered a episode of Keep It Spotless on nick.com and on the Nick App! In the episode, "Use Your Head" (Season 1, Episode 4), two teams play the ultimate game of paint wars. Aim is key as they fly high to finish a challenge and then use their heads to complete another one.


Keep It Spotless features kids competing in a variety of physical and paint-filled challenges designed with one goal in mind--to stay as clean as possible. After each game, a 360 degree scanner will measure each teams’ mess to determine just how spotless they really are. The winning team will face The Gauntlet, a multiple-challenge obstacle course, where they can turn their cleanliness into cold hard cash. Keep It Spotless is produced by ITV Entertainment and Hard Nocks South Productions, based on a UK format from Possessed.

"From Executive Producer, John Cena, comes Keep It Spotless – a brand new Nickelodeon game show where kids compete to stay clean throughout a series of very messy challenges! In each episode, teams of kids wearing ultra-white morph suits, compete in a series of physical games where they have one goal — to stay spotless! But it won’t be easy, as each round presents them with increasingly challenging paint-filled obstacles. At the end of each game, a 360-degree scanner will measure their mess and determine just how clean they really are. The team who can stay the cleanest will have the opportunity to run an exciting final course where they can win big!"

Nickelodeon released the following statement from the WWE star:

"I'm so excited to bring my own mania to Nickelodeon with Keep It Spotless," said John Cena. "It's truly been an honor to step behind the camera and create a hilarious game show with kids for kids. So get ready to see the most epic, funniest, cleanest show on television starting March 26!"

The series premiere of Keep It Spotless will be titled "I'm Not a Worm" (#102).

In addition to being behind the camera on Keep It Spotless, Cena will be in front of the camera as host 2018 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards for the second year running, airing live from the “Fabulous” Forum in Inglewood, California on Nickelodeon USA and YTV in Canada from 8:00 P.M. (ET/PT) on Saturday 24th March 2018, and on Nickelodeon channels around the world within hours of the live show. Cena will also be lending his voice to an original villain named Baron Draxum in the brand-new 2D animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, premiering late 2018.

Nickelodeon ‘Blue’s Clues’ Revival: Steve Burns Wants Old Post, Willing Fight John Cena For It

Former Blue's Clues host Steve Burns is ready to take on 16-time WWE champ John Cena for his old post when the beloved Nickelodeon show is rebooted later this year.


Steve, who hosted Blue's Clues for 7 years expressed his interest to take back his job, telling TMZ that part of the magic of the show was that there was an average Joe in the driver's seat. So far, Nickelodeon hasn't announced who's gonna be the new host, and Steve's still in the running, but production is strongly considering a female stepping in to fill Steve's old, green-striped polo.



“It seems to me that Blue’s Clues is returning now because somehow, all of the kids that I befriended way back when have kids,” Burns, who hosted the popular children’s show from 1996-2002, told TMZ. “From everything we understand about it, the millennial generation is extra super-duper nostalgic, and to think that they have such warm, fond memories of Blue’s Clues— and of me — is truly super cool and wonderful and warm and fuzzy.”

“I like the idea that the host of Blue’s Clues could be a regular-looking guy,” he said. “You know, I didn’t look like Justin Bieber or anything like that. I was just kind of a normal, weird dude. And I like the idea that the host of that show really could be your friend, really could be someone who you might meet — and who isn’t like a super buff, amazing professional wrestler.”


“I think if John Cena is serious about hosting Blue’s Clues, he and I should wrestle for it,” he quipped. “I’m calling you out, John Cena!”

Cena did a impromptu audition for the hosting gig wearing the green-striped polo at Nickelodeon Upfront 2018, where Nick first revealed plans to revive the network's iconic problem-solving interactive preschool series for a new generation of preschoolers, It's unclear if it was for real or not, but Steve seems up for the fight regardless. Cena has a partnership with Nickelodeon: The WWE superstar will be returning to host Nickelodeon’s 2018 Kids’ Choice Awards, airing live on Nickelodeon on March 24, from 8-9:30 p.m. (ET/PT); will be voicing a new original villain named Baron Draxum in Nickelodeon's upcoming 2D animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, premiering late 2018; and is executive producing Nickelodeon's Keep It Spotless, the network's brand-new competition series, premiering Monday 26th March 2018 at 7:30 P.M. (ET/PT).


In 2002, Steve handed over the reigns of the show to his 'younger brother Joe', played by Donovan Patton, who appeared in 50 episodes total.

To help find the new host of Blue's Clues, Nickelodeon will host open call in Southern California on Saturday, April 14, 2018. Unfortunately, all the time slots of the open audition are now filled, however, if you are 18 years old or older and would still like to be considered, you can submit a video audition. (Nickelodeon is seeking women and men of any ethnicity who can play 18-25 years old. Auditionees must be aged 18 or over.)

It's currently unknown whether the UK version of the rebooted Blue's Clues will have a localised host. In the original series, the show was presented Kevin Duala.

Picked up for 20 episodes, the new Blue’s Clues will have a refreshed signature look. Casting for the new host will begin this month, and production on Blue’s Clues will commence this summer.

The new Blue’s Clues series centers on the energetic girl puppy Blue who invites viewers into her animated world to help solve the day’s puzzles with the help of a live-action host. Preschoolers are encouraged to interact with the action on-screen by answering questions, pointing out clues, jumping on their feet and playing along.

The original Blue’s Clues series launched in September 1996 to critical praise from educators, parents and preschoolers and ran for six groundbreaking seasons. Created by Traci Paige Johnson, Todd Kessler and Angela C. Santomero, Blue’s Clues drew acclaim and high ratings for its unique interactivity that helped change the way kids watch television and has remained one of the most popular preschool shows of all time. The landmark series also raised the bar in preschool television by exploring advanced subject matter such as sign language, geography, physics, emotions and anatomy.

The classic Blue’s Clues library is currently available on NOGGIN, Nickelodeon’s video subscription service for preschoolers, and short-form content can be found on the Nick Jr. App and NickJr.com.

CAKE Adds Nickelodeon Latin America's 'Kally's MashUp' to Catalog

CAKE has picked up the distribution rights for Nickelodeon Latin America's (Latinoamérica) hit musical teen comedy Kally’s MashUp in certain territories!


CAKE will oversee the exclusive broadcast rights in the U.K. and Ireland, Northern and Eastern Europe, Asia, Oceania, the Middle East and Africa. The 75×60-minute show debuted on Nickelodeon in Latin America in October 2017.

Kally's MashUp has since been seen by more than 5 million viewers across the Latin American region, achieving the No. 1 position in Mexico among girls aged 7 to 14 years. Following its success, Nickelodeon Latinoamérica recently ordered more new episodes. A new line of consumer products inspired by the popular series will also be released in May 2018. "Kally's MashUp: La música: banda sonora original de la serie de TV", a album featuring 18 songs from the hit TV show, was released on Friday 9th March 2018 by Deep Well Records, under exclusive license to Sony Music Entertainment US Latin LLC. The album can be downloaded now at kallysmashupofficial.com.

Created by Anders and Anthony Falcon, Kally's MashUp is inspired by the real life and musical trajectory of Adam Anders. The story follows the adventures of Kally, a 13-year-old music prodigy who tries to balance her life as a piano virtuoso with that of a regular teenager, after moving from a small town to the most prominent music university in the country. Although everyone thinks she was born to be a classical piano player, her true dream and passion is to be a pop star. It is co-produced by Nick LatAm, Anders Media and 360 Powwow, with Anders and Powwow CEO Daniel Gutman executive producing.


The music series features original songs composed by Anders, his wife, Nikki Anders, and his longtime collaborator, Peer Astrom. Anders also oversees all the music featured in the series.

Ed Galton, the Chief Content Officer (CCO) and Managing Director (MD) at CAKE, commented: “We were deeply impressed with the level of quality Adam and Daniel were able to achieve in this musical series. Kally’s MashUp has already achieved some impressive figures and its original musical score with songs shot in English gives this unique format huge global potential.”

Viacom, Movio Launch Targeted Movie Studio Trailers

Viacom is partnering with data analytics firm Movio on a new marketing offering that it claims will help movie studios goose ticket sales.

Companies that are hoping to convince TV watchers and streamers to head out to the multiplexes can now better target their ad campaigns, the partners claim. Viacom has started to use Movio’s information on moviegoer’s habits to augment Vantage, its in-house data-driven tool. Since launching in 2015, Vantage has provided consumer targeting that’s analogous to what digital platforms offer advertisers, enabling them to have a deeper understanding of which types of content will perform best for specific client initiatives across Viacom brands such as MTV, Comedy Central, VH1, and Nickelodeon.

Viacom is the only media company to connect Movio’s extensive consumer data to set-top box viewing data, providing film studios with the ability to deliver marketing campaigns with more precision. The service is open to any movie studio, not just Viacom’s Paramount Pictures. In an interview, Bryson Gordon, EVP of advanced advertising at Viacom, said that the data is so refined that it allows studios to ensure that their trailers are being seen by people who bought tickets to a specific cluster of films.

“It’s ensuring that you’re getting your ad in front of the audience that can turn your major motion picture into a blockbuster,” said Gordon.

The companies joined forces after Viacom became aware that very little data exists on the consumer behavior of moviegoers. Studios have long leaned on big national television campaigns out of necessity, believing that reaches the broadest audience possible with their trailers and posters is the only way to attract the group of people most interested in seeing a film on the big screen.

“The mantra of having the right ad at the right time in the right place is very hard to accomplish in the studio category,” said Gordon.

However, as Viacom’s team struggled with that issue they stumbled across Movio, a New Zealand-based company that maintains a data set of information on more than 100 million moviegoers across different ages and demographic groups in 36 countries. It includes consumer ticketing information on more than 5,000 film titles.

“Studios tend to rely on broad assumptions about who is going to turn up to see competitive titles,” said Craig Jones, Movio’s chief commercial officer. “Because of the data we’ve been collecting over time, we have unrivaled insight into the behavior of U.S. moviegoers.”

Will Palmer, Movio’s CEO and founder, said his company hopes to partner with other media companies and integrate their data into other platforms.

“We’re really challenging ourselves to think about who the audience for a film is and how to engage them at the right time so they turn up and buy a ticket,” said Palmer.

Nickelodeon Animation are continuing their celebration of Women’s History Month with these storyboards by Monica Tomova from the 2000 Nickelodeon show As Told By Ginger, created by Emily Kapnek, who sums up her inspiration for the show: “Why has no one done an animated show that really looks at all of the angst of being that junior high school age [when] you’re so awkward and want to fit in but also want to stand out [and] not knowing how to do both. That was the whole motivation. Plus, just a healthy dose of reality. I didn’t feel there were a lot of cartoons that were really honest and dealt with real issues that kids were dealing with. The plan was to have Ginger clearly grappling with a lot of the milestone stuff that kids deal with, [like] the pressure to fit in, the pressure to look a certain way, shave her legs, etc.”
