'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Gets Incredible Fan-Made Anime Opening

Avatar: The Last Airbender has gotten the incredible anime opening theme sequence it truly deserves!

Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of the most popular animated series of all time, and it continues to get bigger even years after it initially premiered (and ended) on Nickelodeon since it's become available on streaming services like Paramount+ and Netflix. Due to its strong anime influences, fans have debated over whether or not it's actually identifiable as an anime series because of where it was produced. But there are a number of fans who defend its spot in the anime world.


Now there's an even better argument for Avatar: The Last Airbender being an anime series now as it's gotten the anime opening it deserves! Artist atenahena has proved that the series is not only a great inspiration for an anime opening with their take on it (using Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic's first opening as a base), but still continues to have some of the most iconic characters in the animated world! Avatar: The Last Airbender is such a hot ticket franchise that while its animated run is over following The Legend of Korra sequel series, the series is still inspiring new projects such as tabletop games and more. One of the most curious is a new live-action series being produced for Netflix. Following original creators' Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko's public exit from the new adaptation last year, the series has reportedly hired a new showrunner.

While we have yet to get concrete details for Netflix's new live-action project just yet, rumors and early reports from the production suggest that the central ages of the series' characters like Katara and Sokka would be changed for the new series. Fans have not responded particularly kind to this idea, but at least fans can keep the original spirit of the series alive with fun new takes on it like this.

On This Day in 2005: Avatar: The Last Airbender Premiered on Nickelodeon


Water, Earth, Fire, Air.. on this day 16 years ago, a legacy began when Avatar: The Last Airbender premiered on Nickelodeon!

Created by Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko and airing between 2005 and 2008, Avatar: The Last Airbender, is set in world people can manipulate the elements of Earth, Water, Fire, and Air, and they lived peacefully in different regions until one of the nations started a world war. One master who can manipulate all four elements, dubbed the "Avatar," had been able to prevent this war, but disappeared soon after. 100 years later, a new Avatar named Aang awakens and sets out on a journey to master all the elements in order to bring peace to the land once more by defeating Fire Lord Ozai and ending the destructive war with the Fire Nation.

The series managed to be such a hit with fans by combining amazing animated action set pieces with three dimensional interesting characters set in this magical fantasy world.

The animated series originally aired for 61 episodes over three seasons ("Books") originally on Nickelodeon, where it began in February 2005 and concluded in July 2008. The series was nominated for—and won—Annie Awards, Genesis Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and a Peabody Award.

Konietzko and DiMartino also created a follow-up series, The Legend of Korra, that returned to the world of Avatar years after Aang’s death to follow Korra, his successor as Avatar. That series ran between 2012-2014.

The stories of both Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra have continued on in graphic novel series.

A live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender adaptation is currently in the works at Netflix.

TeenNick Israel to premiere Sky, a new adventure tween drama series by the creator of Greenhouse Academy


TeenNick Israel (בטין ניק יִשְׂרָאֵל) will premiere Sky (סקיי) a brand new adventure drama series from the creator and producers of Nickelodeon Israel's The Greenhouse (החממה/HaKhamama) and Netflix's Greenhouse Academy – Giora Chamizer and Nutz Productions – together with writer Noa Pnini,

Sky (2 seasons, 20x22’) tells the story of a smart and assertive alien girl with the same name, whose spaceship accidentally crashes in a small town on earth. While waiting to be rescued, she hides by transforming herself into the body of the most popular girl in high school. With only three goofy friends to help her out, Sky must survive two weeks on earth without being discovered. Alongside the suspenseful dramatic plot, the general air of the show is whimsical and funny.

The series was announced in January 2020.

Giora Chamizer is responsible for some of the most successful young-adult TV Dramas in Israel. He has created and written several hit teen dramas, among them the popular show Hahamama (The Greenhouse). The series, produced by Nutz Productions and aired on Nickelodeon Israel, was voted best teen show by the Israeli Academy of Film and Television. Netflix later remade it under the title The Greenhouse Academy, with Chamizer acting as the series' showrunner and Nutz Productions producing all seasons in Israel. The American adaptation was launched successfully in over 190 countries, and a third season aired in October this year. Season 4 is set to launch in 2020. Chamizer is also responsible for The Hood, which debuted on Nickelodeon in Israel and has also been sold to the Portuguese RTP2 channel, which premiered the series in 2016 under the title O Bairro.

Noa Pnini is a screenwriter and actor. In recent years Pnini has collaborated with Giora Chamizter on various TV projects, among them The Hood, The Greenhouse, House Arrest and Foxes.

Nutz Productions is the subsidiary production arm of Ananey Communications Group. Following acquiring a minority stake in the company in December 2016, ViacomCBS Networks International (VCNI) fully acquired the content producer and pay-TV provider in April 2020.

Ananey also manages and operates under license local versions of VCNI’s flagship pay-TV brands, including Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., TeenNick, MTV, and Comedy Central, as well as representing an additional seven VCNI channels for affiliate sales in Israel.

A zöld trutyi idén sem kíméli a legnagyobb kedvenceket: a Nickelodeon magyar idő szerint március 13-ról 14-re virradóan ismét megrendezi a Kids’ Choice Awards díjátadót.

Az esemény rendhagyó módon, virtuális formában költözik a képernyőre, de így is látványos show-műsort, számos meglepetést és sok-sok világsztárt ígér. Ráadásul ezúttal is megválasztják a magyarok kedvencét: a díjért Dallos Bogi és Vanek Andor énekesek, Szomjas Jennifer TikTok-sztár, valamint Bóna Bianka vlogger vannak versenyben.

A Kids’ Choice Awards díjra esélyes világsztárok és produkciók közül az idei rekorder Justin Bieber, aki öt jelöléssel büszkélkedhet, de a Stranger Things sikersorozat is négy elismerésre pályázik.

Három jelölésével Ariana Grande is díjesőre számíthat, de a Wonder Woman 1984, a Lelki ismeretek és a Trollok a világ körül című szuperprodukciók is tarolhatnak. Az est házigazdája a Saturday Night Live szkeccsműsorának veteránja, Kenan Thompson lesz.

Március 14-ére virradóan, az online műsor során az is kiderül, hogy a gyerekek szerint a Dallos Bogi, Bóna Bianka, Szomjas Jennifer és Vanek Andor kvartettből ki hazánk legnépszerűbb sztárja.

„Meglepődtem, amikor megtudtam, hogy az egyik nagy kedvencem, Justin Bieber mellett – persze, más kategóriában –, engem is jelöltek a Kids’ Choice Awards díjra. Az elmúlt években is követtem az eseményt, illetve nagyon szórakoztatónak és viccesnek találtam a Nickelodeonon a V, mint Viktória című sorozatot” – árulta el Bóna Bianka, akihez hasonlóan Dallos Bogi is örül a jelölésnek.

„Viszkok Fruzsi barátnőm járt már ezen a nemzetközi díjátadón, mesélt nekem róla, illetve láttam én is a korábbi években az adásokat. Az idei jelöltek közül Justin Bieber nekem is nagy kedvencem, a Nickelodeon-karakterek közül pedig Spongyabobért vagyok oda, mert nagyon vicces, szórakoztató és tetszik a főcímdala is” – tette hozzá az énekesnő.

Szomjas Jennifert, a TikTok hazai népszerű alakját valósággal ledöbbentette a jelölés, természetesen a jó értelemben: „Még a lélegzetem is elállt, amikor megtudtam, hogy én is jelölt vagyok. A Nickelodeon adásain nőttem fel, és minden évben néztem a KCA-t, ám gondolni sem mertem arra, hogy egyszer rám is lehet szavazni.”

Vanek Andor énekes is a Nickelodeonnal kapcsolatos emlékeit idézte fel. „Óriási Spongyabob-fan voltam, Tunyacsáp volt a kedvencem, valamint a Madagaszkár Pingvinjeiért is rajongok a mai napig. Ikonikus mindkettő!” – mondta Andor.

A Nickleodeon a nézők számára is meglepetésekkel készül a díjátadóra. A szerencsések megjelenhetnek a gála interaktív képernyőin, egy család pedig abban a megtiszteltetésben részül, hogy elismerést is adhat át. A díjazottak zöld trutyival való leöntése természetesen nem maradhat el, de a virtuális technológiának köszönhetően a KCA elkalauzolja nézőit kedvenc hírességeik otthonába is.

Nickelodeon Germany, Austria and Switzerland Announces Kids’ Choice Awards 2021 Host, Local Nominees

Hosted by actor, comedian and Saturday Night Live legend Kenan Thompson (All That, Kenan & Kel, Good Burger, Kenan), Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2021 will air live in the U.S. on Saturday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT), simulcast across Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons and the Nick Jr. channel. Following it's U.S. debut, the special will roll out onto Nickelodeon channels internationally, including on Nickelodeon channels in Deutschland, Austria (Österreich) and Switzerland (Schweiz) on Monday 15th March 2021 at 19:00 Uhr!

Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2021: Voting gestartet

Berlin, 3. Februar 2021 – Es wird wieder schleimig bei Nickelodeon – am 13. März 2021 steigt die große Party rund um die amerikanischen Kids’ Choice Awards (KCA). Dieses Jahr wird Schauspieler, Comedian, Saturday Night Live-Legende und Kids’ Choice Award-Träger Kenan Thompson als Gastgeber die Zuschauer*innen mit auf eine wilde Slime-Reise nehmen.

Die Nickelodeon Kids‘ Choice Awards 2021 werden hierzulande am 15. März ab 19:00 Uhr bei Nick zu sehen sein.

Auch in diesem Jahr können die Kids neben den internationalen Stars wieder für ihre größten Lieblinge aus dem deutschsprachigen Raum voten. Zu den Nominierten aus TV, Film, Musik und weiteren Kategorien zählen unter anderen Lena, Zoe Wees, Mark Forster, Toni Kroos und Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim.

Ab sofort können Fans ihre Stimme auf der offiziellen Kids‘ Choice Awards-Website https://kca.nick.de/ für die internationalen und deutschsprachigen Stars abgeben.

Die Show

Erstmals in der Geschichte der KCAs werden Kinder und Familien aus der ganzen Welt buchstäblich Teil der Show sein und gemeinsam ihre Lieblinge aus Kategorien wie Film, Fernsehen, Musik, Sport und mehr feiern. Dafür verlässt der bekannte Orange Blimp das KCA-Gelände in Los Angeles und nimmt die Fans mit auf eine wilde Fahrt rund um die Welt und darüber hinaus. Gefüllt mit Slime und chaotischen Stunts werden die Zuschauer*innen mit Hilfe der XR-Technologie ins Weltall, nach Bikini Bottom und direkt in die Häuser der prominenten Gäste reisen. Die diesjährige Show wird interaktive Screenwalls bieten, die Prominente und Familien zu Hause auf die Hauptbühne bringen. Zudem findet am Showtag ein Second-Screen-Live-Voting statt, bei dem die Fans die Show mitbestimmen können. Des Weiteren gibt es einen besonderen KCA-Award, der von einer glücklichen Familie, die während der Show gewählt wird, überreicht wird. Die musikalischen Live-Performances der Show werden in Kürze angekündigt.

Nun steht fest, welche internationalen und deutschsprachigen Stars für die diesjährigen Kids‘ Choice Awards nominiert wurden. 'Planeta Marcia' Trailer/Pilot | Nickelodeon Latin America

It's been nearly two years since ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS) Americas first announced plans to produce Planeta Marcia, a brand-new live-action space-themed fictional series for children, for Nickelodeon, however, Handle Like Eggs Productions recently released a trailer for the news!


Originally announced in May 2019, Planeta Marcia (Planet Marcia) is a scripted Nickelodeon series for teens, in which Marcia achieves her dream to enter Space Camp to train as an astronaut, but before she can take part in a mission to Mars she must solve the mystery of where she is from and reveal a secret that will change humanity. ViacomCBS is set to produce alongside Paradiso Pictures (I Am Frankie, Yo Soy Franky). 

Not much more is known about Planeta Marcia, including whether the series moved passed its pilot episode phase.

Around the same time as when Planeta Marcia, Nickelodeon USA announced that they were partnering with Imagine Kids+Family to develop a original live-action series, which eventually became The Astronauts. Both shows share similar themes, so it may be that Nickelodeon decided that they only wanted one space-themed series. Whilst the fate of Planeta Marcia is currently unknown, Nickelodeon Latin America (Latinoamérica) is set to premiere The Astronauts in 2021. It could even be that Planeta Marcia served as the basis for The Astronauts.

The pilot episode of Planeta Marcia was filmed in May 2019 in Birmingham, Alabama, and featured Audrey Fafard as Brenda and Morgan Monroe as a high school student.

On Planeta Marcia, Zach Carpenter serves as Swing; Theodore Eftimiades will serve as a Production Assistant; Luke Enzor served as a Art Department Assistant (pilot episode); Sherita Leslie serves as Hair/Makeup Combo; David R. Mitchell served as Best Boy Grip (Pilot); Mark Palermo served as Production Assistant (Pilot); Steven Vargo served as Best Boy Electric (Pilot); George Wehmeyer serves as Camera Production Assistant; Martin White serves as Sound Mixer; and Josh Brady serves as Production Coordinator (Pilot).

'Star Trek: Prodigy' Character Breakdowns Reportedly Reveal 5 New Cast Members

'Star Trek: Prodigy' Character Breakdowns Reportedly Reveal 5 New Cast Members


Details about Nickelodeon's upcoming CG-animated Star Trek series, Star Trek: Prodigy have been sparse. From what we know so far:

- Kevin and Dan Hageman are Showrunning;

- The animation is targeting a look similar to the Netflix series, Love, Death & Robots and Ninjago/Trollhunters;

- Kate Mulgrew will be reprising her iconic role of Janeway (presumably Admiral Janeway now);

- Billy Campbell will be reprising his role of the Outrageous Thadiun Okona for an appearance;

- The series focuses on a group of lawless teenagers who use an abandoned starship to search for adventure;

- The series will premiere exclusively on Nickelodeon in 2021.

- And that there are at least two seasons planned.

Now, according to a report Janeway and Thadiun won't be the only adults joining the kids on the out-of-this-world adventure!

The Illuminerdi recently unveiled new info on the casting for Star Trek: Prodigy. These descriptions give us a look at the adults we’ll be meeting in the show, but not the teens who the show is focusing on. Before venturing forth, I must warn you that these breakdowns give away some story details and could definitely be considered spoilers.

STAR TREK: PRODIGY CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS AND SPECULATION

**If you want to avoid Star Trek: Prodigy spoilers all together, you should stop reading now, otherwise, you may engage.**

A quick word about the names, casting breakdowns often don’t use the actual character names in the descriptions, while sometimes they do, for new properties, it’s not always apparent. The names you find below may or may not be the same as the names you hear when Prodigy airs.

First up is Doctor Torgo. She’s described as an eccentric alien geneticist in her 50s. She chooses to operate outside the Federation to avoid having to follow their rules. She strives to push the boundaries of scientific discovery and make the body a patient dreams of a reality, regardless of the risks.

There’s no species listed for Doctor Torgo, so it’s probably safe to assume she’s human considering the rest of the breakdowns specify a species. It's currently unknown how she fits into the overall storyline, and whether Torgo will be a one-off or  recurring character. If she’s not a one-off, they could be opening the door for a potential return of Julian Bashir. Given his heritage and work to help assimilate others who were genetically modified into regular society, it’s not a far leap to imagine we’ll at least get a reference.

Next we have Barniss Frex, a male Denobulan in his 40s. Barniss spent years alone maintaining a Federation comms relay station and as a result of Denobulans not being fans of solitude, he’s thirsty for friends. He’s a “rambling, portly fellow” who’s very welcoming, at least until his visitors become suspect.

Outside of Phlox on Star Trek: Enterprise fans really don’t have a lot of experience with Denobulans. His breakdown doesn’t really give us any insight into where he might fit into the Prodigy storyline, but it's speculated that he’ll have information or a connection to information the teens are looking for.

Our 3rd character is Nandi. This is an interesting one. Nandi is a female Ferengi in her 50s. Like many other Ferengis we’ve met, she’s a flamboyant, toothy privateer. Also, much like other Ferengi, she’s able to convince people into thinking she’s a trusted ally, but has her own agenda and isn’t afraid of betraying the people around her.

Like Denobulans, we don’t have a whole lot of experience with female Ferengi. The only two of note are Pel and Ishka (Moogie), both from DS9. Pel hid the fact she was a female so she could work and earn profit and Ishka, Quark and Rom’s mother, ushered in a new era of women’s lib, workers rights, and environmental concern within the Ferengi government.

It will be quite fascinating to see how these ideals have come to affect the Ferengi culture. While it probably won't be a focus of the overall Prodigy storyline, it could definitely be a topic that’s visited when learning about Nandi’s past.

Doctor Noum, a Tellarite in his 30s. Tellarites enjoy arguments and Noum is no different. He’s dedicated to keeping his crew healthy and though his bedside manner is brusque, his medical expertise is infallible.

Our last character is Vezria. It's hard to know what to make of her. The standard part of her description states that she’s in her 30s and hunting for the missing ship by pretending to be an Ensign in Starfleet. She’s very intelligent and is skilled at manipulating people. She’s determined to get revenge for her people and destroy the Federation.

That’s all fairly straight forward, right? However, here's what may trip Trekkies up. In order to pose as an Ensign, she’s “disguising her true Vau N’Akat form”. It's hard to find a reference to a species with that name. So, there’s one of two or three things happening here.

“Vau N’Akat” could be a fake name. “Vau N’Akat” could potentially be the Founders or the Devidians, or since since the show is animated, maybe they could be bringing back the Vendorians? Another possibility is Species 8472. We don’t know what happened with them after Voyager, maybe something happened that they blamed Starfleet for or at least that Vezria blames Starfleet for. We only know of them by their Borg designation, “Vau K’Akat” could be their actual name, and with Janeway coming back, it’s not unreasonable to think they could revive some Voyager plotlines.

That’s all we know for now. Vezria, Nandi, Doctor Torgo, Barniss Frex, and Doctor Noum. Do you think these are going to be regulars, recurring characters, or just one-offs that we never see again after their first episode of Prodigy? Vezria definitely sounds like she’s going to be a recurring character and possibly the “Big Bad” at the end.

The Outrageous Thadiun Okona is heading back to the final frontier in Star Trek: Prodigy. Daily Star Trek News reports.

Billy Campbell as Thadiun Okona in Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “The Outrageous Okona”.

Actor Billy Campbell made the announcement in a recent episode of the Comic Book Central podcast , along with a few more details about the upcoming series, and a story about how he nearly landed a much bigger role in the Star Trek franchise.

“The Outrageous Okona” was an episode in the second season of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Campbell played the title character, Thadiun Okona, a lovable rogue who charmed the female crew and ended up helping broker peace between two warring houses on twin planets in the Omega Sagitta system. And now he’ll have his chance to get up to more shenanigans in the new CG-animated series for Nickelodeon.

After host Joe Stuber asked Campbell a question about sci-fi and superheroes, he mentioned Star Trek: Prodigy (which he referred to as a “comedy” animated series) and said, “they're bringing back some characters from the Star Trek universe that are like [...] legacy characters. So my guy is coming back.” Host Stuber then asked him to confirm that he meant “The Outrageous Okona”, to which Campbell replied, “Yes! And it’s hilarious.”

Later on, Campbell gave some more details about his part, saying that in it, the show’s female lead “goes over the moon” for him, much to the chagrin of the male lead. At the time the podcast episode was recorded, Campbell said his recording was imminent.

Campbell says he wishes he could remember more about the script but offered some details about his return:

"It’s super funny. I come on basically to—and I’m kind of schleppy and roguish, but just kind of disgusting in a way. And whoever the female character is just sort of goes over the moon for me. Much to the chagrin of the lead male character."

Redeeming Okona

Something else surprising that came from the discussion with Comic Book Central: While Campbell seemed thrilled about reprising his role, he did also mention that he wishes he could take back his original performance, and sees this return to the character as a bit of a second chance.

"I’m super excited about that, too. Because… the thing I have to admit about “The Outrageous Okona” is: if I could eradicate that performance, I would. I was so uncomfortable. The dialogue was so bad. It really was bad dialogue. And, to be honest, I was not experienced enough to make bad dialogue good. I was a bad actor and I’m terribly self-conscious the whole time. And Patrick [Stewart] tried to help– bless him – but I think I was beyond redemption…"

According to Campbell, Stewart gave him some great advice that included how to laugh in a scene convincingly, then made sure he was doing well from that point on and even got directors to give him extra takes. Billy went on to say Prodigy will be a do-over for him:

"I can’t watch it… I am so thrilled now that I can redeem myself just with this little Nickelodeon cartoon."

Bombing Riker

Later in the podcast, Campbell gave a detailed oral history of how he almost was cast as Riker that included his fateful final audition and how that all led up to him getting that one guest spot:

"My pal [casting director] Junie Lowry – who has cast me in more things than anyone else in town over the years – and she called me up and said, 'Do you like Star Trek?' And I said, “I love Star Trek!” She said, 'You are Riker!' And I was like, 'What?' And I read the thing, and I’m like, ‘Oh, my gosh, I could be on Star Trek!’… And we got along in the process, and I have to tell you, I so badly got the jitters. And we went into this final meeting. It was me, and it was Jonathan [Frakes]. We were the only two actors. There were like 15 studio executives in the room, and the director and, and the writers and Junie sitting in the back.

"Jonathan went in first and I sat out in the lobby and I was just getting so nervous. And I realized that the thing that was really, really making me nervous was that I was going to do the very thing that I had successfully not done since I got to town which was not get stuck in one place. And it just filled me with this kind of dread. And Jonathan came out and, ever the gentlemen, shook my hand and said, 'Good luck in there.' I walked in and I turned into a block of wood. I was paralyzed, and I was only a few lines into the first scene and happen to look at Junie and she was looking at me like her face was like a bowl of curdled milk. She just was so – she couldn’t believe it! And I and I felt horrible because it was like, ‘Oh my god, I am making her look so bad.’ Because I hadn’t done any reading, really, before then. And I was like, ‘Oh my god, oh my god.’ I just bombed. I bombed I, bombed I, bombed.

"It was horrible. I walked out of the room and that was that. The best man got the job… And I was so torn. I didn’t want to get stuck on something. And if you’re going to get stuck on something and known for something, my God, what more iconic thing could you get known for then Star Trek… And I so much loved Star Trek, and I so much love science fiction. Sometime later… a year or so, I called up Junie. I said I wanted to apologize. And she’s the sweetest person in the world. She’s got this wonderful Southern accent. And she said, 'Oh, honey, honey, everything is fine. Everything turned out wonderfully. Jonathan is terrific, much better than I even dreamed he would be. And everybody’s so happy.' And I said, 'So you’re not mad at me?' And she said, 'No.' And I said, 'Does that mean I could maybe do a guest spot?' [laughs] I said, 'I so badly want to be in Star Trek.' And she said, “I’ll call you back.” And sure enough, then she came back with the “Okona”

And the rest is Star Trek history… with more history to come.

The news follows Nickelodeon announcing that Kate Mulgrew will be reprising her Star Trek: Voyager role of Captain Kathryn Janeway for Star Trek: Prodigy.

Developed by Emmy® Award winners Kevin and Dan Hageman (Trollhunters and Ninjago) and overseen for Nickelodeon by Naito, Star Trek: Prodigy follows a group of lawless teens who discover a derelict Starfleet ship and use it to search for adventure, meaning and salvation. The CG-animated series will debut exclusively on Nickelodeon in 2021 for a new generation of fans.

Star Trek: Prodigy is from CBS’ Eye Animation Productions, CBS Studios’ new animation arm; Secret Hideout; and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Katie Krentz, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth will serve as executive producers alongside co-showrunners Kevin and Dan Hageman. Ben Hibon will direct, co-executive produce and serve as the creative lead of the all-new animated series. Aaron Baiers will also serve as co-executive producer with Mac Middleton as a producer. Production of Star Trek: Prodigy is overseen for Nickelodeon by Claudia Spinelli, Senior Vice President, Animation Development and Kelley Gardner, Vice President, Current Series Animation.

Star Trek: Prodigy joins the expanding “Star Trek” franchise for ViacomCBS as the first Star Trek series aimed at younger audiences for Nickelodeon. The Star Trek Universe on CBS All Access currently includes hit original series Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and the development of a Section 31-based series with Michelle Yeoh.

The title for the Trek series targeting a new generation of fans was revealed during virtual Comic-Con@Home last summer, which also confirmed a 2021 release for the first season. Mulgrew’s inclusion on the show was revealed last October during the virtual NYCC.

Mulgrew said, “I have invested every scintilla of my being in Captain Janeway, and I can’t wait to endow her with nuance that I never did before in Star Trek: Prodigy. How thrilling to be able to introduce to these young minds an idea that has elevated the world for decades. To be at the helm again is going to be deeply gratifying in a new way for me.”

Executive Producer Alex Kurtzman said, “Captain Janeway was held to a different standard than her predecessors. She was asked to embody an inhuman level of perfection in order to be accepted as ‘good enough’ by the doubters, but showed them all what it means to be truly outstanding. We can think of no better captain to inspire the next generation of dreamers on Nickelodeon, than she.”

“Kate’s portrayal of Captain Janeway is truly iconic, and has resonated with a global audience for many years,” said Ramsey Naito, President, Nickelodeon Animation. “We can’t wait to see her bring this character to life in a whole new way, while continuing to be an inspiration for both new and loyal fans.”

Nickelodeon UK to Premiere 'Goldie’s Oldies' Very Soon | First Look | Nickelodeon UK

Nickelodeon UK & Ireland will premiere Goldie’s Oldies, a brand new live action comedy series very soon! Check out Nick's first cast photo for the new show below!


Announced in October 2019, Goldie’s Oldies is a brand new live action comedy series, and the first original commission made exclusively for Nickelodeon International’s channels and platforms in more than 170 territories outside the U.S.

Goldie’s Oldies, a 20 x 22 minute live action situation comedy to be filmed in studio and on location, is produced by Viacom’s in-house BAFTA-winning production arm, ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS) UK, marking the studio’s first move into scripted comedy, first commission for Nickelodeon and a significant step into children’s TV production, following previous work for Channel 5’s multiplatform preschool brand, Milkshake!.

Goldie’s Oldies focuses on the life of teenager Goldie, whose life is turned upside down when her family moves in with their Grandpa Maury and his three ‘70 something’ room mates. The series, which has an eleven strong global writing team, begun filming in January 2020 and is set to air across Nickelodeon’s international channels in 2021.

VIS UK produced the series out of Manchester, expanding upon the launch of VIS UK’s first regional office at Salford’s dock10 MediaCity UK earlier this year. Goldie’s Oldies will tap into a number of local filming resources, including local on- and off-screen talent, studios, equipment and locations. Filming took place in 2020, briefly taking a break due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

Goldie’s Oldies was created by Evan Thaler Hickey (Top Wing, Go Away , Unicorn!, The Magic School Bus Rides Again) and the head writer is Mark Oswin (Hunter Street, So Awkward). It will be executive produced for VIS UK by Trevor Klein.

Nickelodeon Issues Message of Solidarity with the Asian American & Pacific Islander Community Following Rise in Hate Crimes

With the recent rise of hate crimes committed against the Asian American and Pacific Islander community, Nickelodeon has issued the following statement across their social media channels:


"We stand united against racism, hatred, violence, and the recent rise of attacks against the Asian American & Pacific Islander community. #StopAAPIHate #StopAsianHate," reads Nickelodeon's message.

Each social media post is accompanied with a link to the Stop AAPI Hate initiative, to where readers can find more resources, report a hate crime and learn how they can help stem the rise of these cruel hate attacks.
