Nickelodeon will premiere Side Hustle, a brand-new live-action buddy comedy starring social media sensations and real-life best friends, Annie LeBlanc and Jayden Bartels on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 8:30 p.m. (ET/PT)!

Side Hustle follows best friends, smart and sarcastic Lex (LeBlanc) and confident and tough Presley (Bartels), as they devise a plan to make money when fireworks accidentally destroy a boat belonging to the dad of their quirky friend and neighbor, Munchy (Isaiah Crews). Created and executive produced by Dave Malkoff (Henry Danger, Sam & Cat, Victorious) and shot in front of a live studio audience, Side Hustle season one (13 half-hour episodes) was shot in Los Angeles.


Forced to come up with creative ways to earn money to pay for the damages, Lex, Presley and Munchy enlist the help of Presley’s tech-savvy younger brother, Fisher (Mitchell Berg), who creates an app to connect with people looking for help with small jobs, and Munchy’s bossy older brother Jaget (Jacques Chevelle), who makes sure they keep up with the payments.

“Annie and Jayden are two massively talented stars who kids adore, and we think our audience is going to love seeing them in their own show on Nick,” said Shauna Phelan, Senior Vice President, Live-Action Scripted Content. “Side Hustle is a new take on the classic buddy comedy, full of wild and hilarious adventures for our unique cast of characters.”

In the premiere episode, “Start Hustling” (#101), the kids get into a jam after accidentally setting a boat on fire. Needing money, they get a job as living mannequins at a fancy store. The kids are excited until they discover they’ll be modeling itchy wool outfits. After spending hours itching and posing, they hatch a plan to close the store early.

LeBlanc is an actress and singer who first came to social prominence in her family’s YouTube channel, “Bratayley.” She has since amassed over 27 million followers across her own social media platforms, and can be seen starring in Brat’s hit YouTube series Chicken Girls and A Girl Named Jo, and the YouTube Red Originals series We Are Savvy. As a singer LeBlanc’s had six songs in the Top Ten iTunes Pop charts, and two Top 50 Billboard Chart hits. She recently won “Choice Music Web Star” at the 2019 Teen Choice Awards, “Muser of the Year” at the 2018 Shorty Awards, and is currently nominated for “Favorite Female Social Star” at the 2020 Kids’ Choice Awards. In 2019, LeBlanc joined the Nickelodeon family starring in Annie vs. Hayley, a digital competition show with her younger sister Hayley, and co-hosted Camp Nick alongside Bartels.

Bartels is a singer, actress and dancer who has made a name for herself both on camera and on the stage. Having written and arranged every song she’s released, she debuted her first EP titled “What Really Matters?” last year and released her most recent single “Gameboy” earlier this month. She’s currently on tour opening for pop rock band Echosmith across the U.S., and she went out on a European tour with English singing duo Max & Harvey in 2019. She has a following of almost 12 million across her social media platforms, as well as over 1.6 billion likes on TikTok. On screen, Bartels has played a recurring role Disney Channel’s Coop & Cami Ask the World and lead in the films To The Beat! and its’ upcoming sequel, To The Beat! Back 2 School. She can also be seen in episodes of Nickelodeon’s Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn, Showtime’s Kidding and CBS’s Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.

LeBlanc and Bartels co-hosted Nickelodeon's virtually-produced Group Chat this summer, which ranked as the number-one unscripted live-action show on cable with kids 6-11 in the second quarter of 2020. Bartels teamed up with social media star Brent Rivera for season two, which is currently airing on Nickelodeon.

John Beck & Ron Hart (Knight SquadFuller House, Liv and Maddie) serve as executive producers and showrunners. Production of Side Hustle for Nickelodeon is overseen by Shauna Phelan, Senior Vice President, Live-Action Scripted Content. Omar Camacho serves as Nickelodeon’s Executive in Charge of Production for the series.

ECC Ediciones to Distibute 'TMNT' Comics in Spain

ECC Ediciones has announced the Turtley Awesome news that it has acquired the license to localised and distribute Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics and graphic novels in Spain! The titles will range from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Original Series Vol. 1 (of 6), featuring Mirage Studios' original black-and-white TMNT comics, to graphic novels inspired by Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The first title will be published in December, with plans to roll out more throughout 2021.

ECC Ediciones da la bienvenida a Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello y Leonardo. ¡Las Tortugas Ninja! Los héroes de medio caparazón que cautivan al mundo desde los años ochenta han protagonizado sonadas apariciones en películas de imagen real, series de animación, videojuegos y merchandising variado. Pero el origen de este fenómeno de la cultura popular fruto de la imaginación de Kevin Eastman y Peter Laird se remonta al mundo del cómic, medio en el que se han narrado sus aventuras a través de diferentes cabeceras orientadas a todo tipo de lectores.

En diciembre publicaremos nuestros dos primeros lanzamientos de esta esperada licencia. Y ambos títulos son representativos de la variedad y la riqueza de una franquicia con casi cuatro décadas de historia a sus espaldas.


En primer lugar, Las Tortugas Ninja: La serie original vol. 1 (de 6) dará inicio a una edición con la que recopilaremos la etapa inicial de los personajes –publicada en blanco y negro por Mirage Studios–, en la que Eastman y Laird sentaron las bases de su rica mitología. Cada volumen en tapa dura incluirá comentarios de los autores revelando anécdotas y detalles sobre el proceso creativo de las entregas recopiladas, y contendrá una sección final a todo color con las portadas originales.

En segundo lugar, Las Tortugas Ninja vol. 1, primera entrega de la actual colección, que, iniciada en 2011 por IDW y recibida con entusiasmo por la crítica y los lectores, sumerge a los cuatro protagonistas en una sucesión de aventuras trepidantes narradas a través de un enfoque más contemporáneo. Liderada por el propio Eastman –quien hace las veces de guionista y asesor–, esta serie también cuenta en su equipo creativo con el talento de Tom Waltz o Sophie Campbell, autores habituales del mercado independiente estadounidense, y con dibujantes de la talla de Dan Duncan, Andy Khun, Freddie E. Williams II o Mateus Santolouco.


Pero nuestras novedades van más allá de ambos títulos. Kodomo, nuestra línea destinada a lectores infantiles, también albergará diferentes lanzamientos. Así, en enero comenzaremos a publicar Las nuevas aventuras de las Tortugas Ninja en formato grapa: una colección firmada por Kenny Byerly y Darío Brizuela que permitirá a nuestros lectores más jóvenes disfrutar con periodicidad mensual de las aventuras de sus personajes preferidos. Y en abril iniciaremos la publicación de El ascenso de las Tortugas Ninja, serie de novelas gráficas obra de Matthew K. Manning y Chad Thomas.

Estos lanzamientos son la punta de lanza de un ambicioso plan editorial que tendrá continuidad en 2021, y cuyas primeras novedades desvelamos en un completo dossier que podéis descargar a través del siguiente enlace. ECC Ediciones prepara el lanzamiento de la Tortugas Ninja

ECC Ediciones da la bienvenida a las Tortugas Ninja y empezará las publicaciones del popular grupo de héroes este diciembre.

Las Tortugas Ninja aparecieron por primera vez en los años 80 y son sin duda uno de los grupos héroes más peculiares y populares. La idea de Kevin Eastman y Peter Laird pronto dejo de ser una ocurrencia divertida para dar paso a un éxito de masas. Desde series de animación pasando por varias películas de acción real y todo tipo de merchandising el cuarteto arrasa por donde pasa. Pero el origen de Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello y Leonardo se remonta al cómic.

Ahora ECC Ediciones planea el lanzamiento de algunos de los títulos más populares de las Tortugas Ninja. Después de hacerse con la licencia del cuarteto de Nueva York, ECC ha anunciado los primero títulos que publicaran de la franquicia. Afirman que se trata de cabeceras diversas y que a su vez representan la variedad y riqueza de las Tortugas Ninja en sus casi cuatro décadas de aventuras. Los cómics empezarán a publicarse en diciembre y continuaran los lanzamientos periódicos en 2021.

El primer título anunciado es Las Tortugas Ninja: La serie original vol.1 (de 6). Esta publicación se trata de una recopilación en la que se recogen los primeros años de los hermanos. Originalmente publicado en blanco y negro por Mirage Studios, se presentan las bases de la mitología clave para entender al cuarteto. Se trata de volúmenes de tapa dura  en el que se incluyen cometarios de los autores con todo tipo de información sobre el proceso creativo. Además de las portadas originales a color. Este título contará con seis entregas y se publicarán de forma cuatrimestral.

En segundo lugar, anuncian Las Tortugas Ninja vol.1, la primera entrega de la colección empezada en 2011. Esta colección actual ha recibido una buena acogida por parte de la crítica y de los más fanáticos. En esta se transporta a Raphael, Michelangelo Donatello y Leonardo a un contexto más actual pero igualmente cargado de aventuras. La serie está encabezada por Eastman y va de la mano de un amplio equipo creativo. Entre ellos Tom Waltz o Sophie Campbell, autores habituales del mercado independiente estadounidense. Además de dibujantes de la talla de Dan Duncan, Andy Khun, Freddie E. Williams II o Mateus Santolouco. Esta serie contará con una periodicidad trimestral.

ECC Editoriales propone un catalogo variado tanto para los seguidores de las Tortugas Ninja que quieren revisitar algunas de sus aventuras más populares como para los nuevos lectores. Una mezcla entre lo clásico y lo contemporáneo. Además adelantan novedades. Para traer al grupo de heroes a los más jóvenes, la línea Komodo empezará a publicar en enero Las nuevas aventuras de las Tortugas Ninja de forma mensual. Una colección en formato grapa de la mano de Kenny Byverly y Darío Brizuela perfecta para los más pequeños.

Como último adelanto, se confirma que traerán las novelas gráficas de El ascenso de las Tortugas Ninja de Matthew K. Manning y Chad Thomas. Esta serie está basada en a última animación emitida en Nickelodeon y llegará en abril. Con estas cuatro cabeceras de ECC Cómics hay Tortugas Ninja para rato y esperan anunciar más títulos a partir de 2021.

Kel Mitchell and Asia Lee Welcome Second Child, Wisdom

Party of six! Kel Mitchell’s fourth child arrived on Friday, October 23, his second with his wife, Asia Lee!


“It’s my Honor to introduce you to our new baby boy HONOR MITCHELL,” the All That alum, 42, wrote via Instagram on Monday, November 2. “That’s right my beautiful and amazing Wife gave birth to him on October 23rd. The Mitchell squad loves this new addition to our family! God is awesome! This is answered prayer and such a precious gift! I have been smiling ear to ear. So much joy in my heart and household!”

Asia posted the same photo on her Instagram, saying: "Please meet our New addition HONOR JOHARI-RICE MITCHELL ❤️❤️❤️ My little baby boy was born on Friday 10/23/2020. @iamkelmitchell and I are blessed & overjoyed! He is the sweetest little guy and Wisdom is sooooo proud to be a Big sister. Thank you Lord for expanding our family 🙏🏽 HONOR, I am honored and excited to be your mommy! Among the people congratulating Kel on Instagram were his fellow All That alum Danny Tamberelli (The Adventures of Pete & Pete), who said: "Congrats my dude!!! Much love to you and the fam!! What a little stinkin’ cutie!!!"

Mitchell announced in May that the rapper, 41, was pregnant by putting a spin on the viral “Wipe It Down” TikTok challenge. When the actor wiped down their bathroom mirror, he revealed Lee’s baby bump.

The sunglasses designer wore a shirt reading, “Mom is going to be a mommy again,” while Mitchell’s read, “This dad is going to be a daddy again.” The couple’s 2-year-old daughter, Wisdom, made an appearance in a “big sister” tee. The pair went on to reveal that they had a baby boy on the way.

The Good Burger and Kenan & Kel alum, who also shares son Lyric and daughter Allure with his ex-wife, Tyisha Hampton, welcomed Wisdom in July 2017.

“My love @therealasialee gave birth to our baby girl Wisdom on Saturday afternoon,” the Nickelodeon star wrote via Instagram at the time. “She was 7 pounds 11 ounces with a head full of hair and full of happiness! Im so grateful and happy! My baby girl is here! So much joy in my heart. She is so adorable!”

The baby news came four months after Lee’s pregnancy reveal. In February 2017, she and her husband wore matching Good Burger hats and hugged with her budding belly on display.

“We have a bun in the oven!” the Chicago native gushed at the time. “Thank you @therealasialee for being the best Wife to me the best Friend to me and now the best Mom to our blessed baby!! I love you so much!”

The Dancing With the Stars alum and the “Swag Like Me” rapper tied the knot in January 2012. “My wedding day on Sunday was everything I dreamed of!” the groom tweeted following their nupitals. “My wife is so beautiful! God is so good! I thank him for blessing me with her! I can’t stop smiling.”

The comedian was previously married to Hampton, 42, for six years. The former couple welcomed Lyric and Allure in 1999 and 2002, respectively.

The Astronauts Marks the First Production From Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Kids+Family Division

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.--Oct. 9, 2020--Nickelodeon enters orbit for an epic hour-long premiere event of The Astronauts, the network’s first co-production with Imagine Kids+Family.  The brand-new live-action series follows a group of kids who embark on the adventure of a lifetime when they are mistakenly launched into space.  The Astronauts is executive produced by Imagine Entertainment Executive Chairmen Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, and Imagine Kids+Family President Stephanie Sperber.  The series is created by Daniel Knauf (Carnivàle, The Blacklist), who also serves as writer and executive producer.  The first two episodes of The Astronauts premiere back-to-back on Friday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.

In the hour-long premiere of The Astronauts, the spacecraft Odyssey II is set to launch on a mission to retrieve a foreign object that could potentially save mankind.  The plan quickly goes awry when five untrained kids use their parents’ security clearances to sneak onto the empty ship.  Soon after they board, the onboard AI system triggers the launch sequence.  Unable to stop the ship from blasting off, the kids must assume their new role as astronauts and brave harrowing tasks, as their parents rush to find a way to take control of the situation.


The group traveling together through space are: Samantha “Samy” Sawyer-Wei, played by Miya Cech (Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Always Be My Maybe); Elliott Combs, played by Bryce Gheisar (Wonder, A Dog’s Purpose); Martin Taylor, played by Keith L. Williams (Good Boys, The Last Man on Earth); Doria Taylor, played by Kayden Grace Swan (A Black Lady Sketch Show); and Will Rivers, played by Ben Daon (Child’s Play).  Matilda, the ship’s onboard AI system, is voiced by Paige Howard (The Employer, Adventureland).

The premiere episodes of The Astronauts are directed by DGA Award nominee Dean Israelite (Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Power Rangers movie, Project Almanac), who also serves as executive producer. The series is also directed by Jonathan Frakes (Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, The Orville), and Marcus Stokes (Criminal Minds, The Flash, 911). Will Davis served as creative executive for Imagine Kids+Family.


Production of The Astronauts for Nickelodeon is overseen by Shauna Phelan, Senior Vice President, Live Action Scripted Content; and Zack Olin, Senior Vice President, Live Action.  Brian Banks serves as Nickelodeon’s Executive in Charge of Production for the series.


The Astronauts is the first production to hail from Imagine Kids+Family.  Imagine has a rich history telling stories rooted in space adventure, including the multiple Academy Award-winning film Apollo 13 (celebrating its 25th anniversary this year), the hybrid docuseries Mars for NatGeo, and the Emmy Award-winning series From The Earth To The Moon for HBO.

Plano Native Bryce Gheisar Stars in Nickelodeon’s “The Astronauts”


Launching his father’s spaceship, the Odyssey 2, was an accident. Elliot Combs, the sensitive and proud son of the Odyssey’s billionaire owner, had convinced his four friends to sneak on board with him. He called it “a once in a lifetime deal.”

Then the countdown to launch began. 

Now, Elliot has to prove that he is the leader that he knows he can be and learn how to work together with his friends, not only to show his worth to his dad and to himself but also to bring them safely home to their parents, who are watching from Earth. 

But they are not alone in space. 

“The Astronauts” is a new Nickelodeon series starring Plano native Bryce Gheisar, Keith L. Williams, Kayden Grace Swan, and Ben Daon. Dean Israelite directs and serves as executive producer along with Marcus Stokes, Jonathan Frakes, and Daniel Knauf who is also the creator, writer, and showrunner. It premiers at 7 p.m. Nov. 13. 

“Elliot comes across as confident and rude but is actually more sensitive,” says Bryce, who is 15. “The cool thing about it is that I was actually auditioning for Will, but looked older than the other kids. [So I auditioned] for Elliot and it fit better, more in tune with what they wanted.” 

Born in 2004 in Plano, Bryce was a rising star in competitive gymnastics when he first discovered his love for acting. At 8 years old, he didn’t know that you could become an actor. “At first it was very different than I was used to,” he says. “Gymnastics were very sporty and required like practice three hours every day. Very tough. Acting felt like less of a hassle and something fun. Then after a certain amount of time, I realized it could be a career path.”   

Bryce enrolled at Cathryn Sullivan’s Acting for Film school in Lewisville. Cathryn “Cathy” Sullivan has been teaching actors and actresses for decades in the Dallas area. Her older son Chad had starred in several films, including 1994’s Frank & Jesse, 1995’s Past the Bleachers, and 1998’s Still Holding On: The Legend of Cadillac Jack, before his untimely death in 2011. Her younger son Cody Linley played Jack Ryan on Miley Cyrus’s Hannah Montana show. 

Cathy offers a variety of acting classes for kids, teens, and adults such as Acting for Camera for 6 to 9-year-old kids and film classes for 10-year-old and up, even until they hit college. Sullivan’s Hall of Fame includes a variety of successful artists, including Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, and Thomas Mann.

As Devin Way from “Grey’s Anatomy” wrote in a testimonial included on Cathy’s website for her acting school: “The beautiful thing about my experience at Cathryn’s was as much as I knew she cared about my acting, she cared about me more. She cares about her students. Authentically. Then from a place of love and trust, reaches in and transforms their acting ability from the inside out. Once you’re one of Cathy’s kids, you’re hers for life.”

Cathy’s school transformed Bryce, who was originally interested in the comedic side of acting. He loves comedies, but as he grew older, he fell in love with the dramatic side of acting. “And that was one of the things that Cathy helped me discover how to do the emotional state in different scenes,” he says.

For about five years, Bryce took classes from Cathy, reaching the master level before leaving at the age of 13 or 14. In his early days of acting, like many beginning actors, he shot quite a few commercials. In 2015, he landed a short role as Elijah Gutnick in The Bus Stop. A year later, he appeared as Herman in Walk the Prank, and then transitioned into film. 

His first feature was A Dog’s Purpose in 2017, starring Dennis Quad, Josh Grad, and several other well known actors. Directed by Lasse Hallstrom, it was based on the 2010 novel by W. Bruce Cameron and told the story of a devoted dog searching for a rightful purpose. Bryce played Ethan Montogermy, a kind-hearted boy who adopts the dog. 

From there, he appeared in Wonder with Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson, and Clint Eastwood’s The 15:17 to Paris, starring Spencer Stone, Anthony Sadler, and Alek Skarlatos. Bryce played a young Alek in the biographical film, based on the autobiography The 15:17 to Paris: The True Story of a Terrorist, a Train, and Three American Heroes.

“It was really surreal being on set [with Clint Eastwood],” Bryce says. “He is kind of like a guy who sits and instead of calling action says, ‘Go ahead.’ He’s very quiet and [wants it] calm on set.”

Bryce offers this piece of advice for aspiring actors, though it could also apply to other artists such as musicians and writers:

“You have to love it because there is a lot of rejection. I do hundreds of auditions and don’t hear back on almost all of them. You really have to focus and if you don’t, it’s very hard, and don’t take things personally. Just keep at it.”

Pluto TV Secures Exclusive Rights to Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS& Branded Yu-Gi-Oh! AVOD Channel


LOS ANGELES--NOVEMBER 3, 2020--Cinedigm (NASDAQ: CIDM) announced that the leading free streaming television service, Pluto TV, has secured exclusive rights in multiple territories to Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS, the sixth anime series in the fan-favorite global franchise based on the Yu-Gi-Oh! collectible trading card game. In a nod to the shifting streaming landscape, Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS will bypass broadcast and other windows in the U.S., Latin America, and beyond to make its debut on Pluto TV. The deal is part of a larger initiative to launch an exclusive Yu-Gi-Oh! branded channel on Pluto TV, which the service will bring to the U.S. later this month with LATAM to follow.

A long-running success on television around the world, the Yu-Gi-Oh! series have aired in more than 90 countries over the past two decades, including Nickelodeon's Nicktoons channels in the U.K. and U.S., with recent successes on digital platforms like Apple and Amazon Prime Video, in addition to Pluto TV. Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS will be the first series in the franchise’s history to skip both U.S. broadcast and the traditional digital release windows, a move that Cinedigm’s Yolanda Macias, EVP Acquisitions and Digital Sales, said “reflects the company’s ability to pivot easily with marketplace changes and disruptions to meet viewers’ needs.”

In Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS, a duelist named Playmaker must team up with a trash-talking AI to thwart a nefarious group of hackers bent on destroying the cyber world. Ranked 6th in Best 100 TV Anime at the 2019 Tokyo Anime Award Festival, the series merges virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and high-speed dueling into a fighting extravaganza. Pluto TV’s dubs will feature all original music and effects scored for the Western market.

Upon its launch, Pluto TV’s Yu-Gi-Oh! channel will feature over 650 episodes across five series, including Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS, Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL, Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, and Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters. The international scope of the deal will allow for content to be released in multiple language dubs, facilitating wider viewership around the world.

Original Competition Series Joins Santa in Search of Who Will Be Top Elf

Nickelodeon is celebrating the holidays with season two of the network's hit festive competition series, Top Elf, premiering Thursday, November 19, at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT). Across five episodes, seven kid “Elf-testants” with extraordinary building and design skills compete in festive challenges to become Santa’s ‘Top Elf’ and have their wish lists granted—not for themselves, but for good causes in their hometowns.


In Top Elf season one, which aired on Nickelodeon USA and YTV in Canada during the festive season, Santa (Tommy Snider) and Ms. Jingles (Samantha Turret) invited seven civilian “Elf-testants” to the North Pole to test their skills in a series of holiday-themed challenges, from designing their own life-sized gingerbread clubhouses, to reimagining Santa’s sleigh, to creating giant 3-D holiday cards. And of course, building new toys!

Each “Elf-testant" was paired with one of Santa’s elves who help bring their visions to life. The elves were: Chip Snuggles (Rudy Martinez), Nog Shimmerhorn (David Magidoff), Ginger O’Tingleton (Jenna Wright), Merry Sparkleberry (Nataliz Jimenez), Tinsel Turtledove (Ashley August), Zippy Twinkles (Davied Morales) and Stretch McDancerpants (Eric Stretch).


The seven skillful “Elf-testants” competing this season were: Aiko from New York; Allison from Walnut, Calif.; Briana from Los Angeles; Cameron from Georgetown, Ky.; Hopper from Highland Park, Texas; Hud from Oxford, Miss.; and Justice from Jamaica, N.Y.

At the end of each episode, “Elf-testants” were judged by Santa, Ms. Jingles and a celebrity guest to decide who is on the “nice” or “naughty" list and one step closer to being named Top Elf. Celebrity guest judges helping Santa and Ms. Jingles find the Top Elf were: Frankie Grande (Henry Danger/Danger Force), Amirah Kassem, Peyton List, Alex Wassabi and Pete Wentz.

At the end of the season, Cameron Fulton from Georgetown, Kentucky was named "Top Elf". As part of Cameron's prize for winning Top Elf, he received a three night stay at Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana and $25,000 to donate to his chosen charity, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, a charity close to his heart, in honor in of his mom and grandfather.


Top Elf’s original concept was created by Mike Duffy and Tim Duffy of Ugly Brother Studios, who executive produce the series along with Jimmy Fox of Main Event Media, an All3Media America company. Bob Schermerhorn (Project Runway All Stars, America’s Next Top Model) and Lisa Fletcher (The Titan Games) are executive producers, with Fletcher also serving as the showrunner. Nickelodeon’s Vice Presidents of Unscripted Content Paul J Medford and Mandel Ilagan also serve as executive producers. The series is directed by Michael Pearlman (Chopped, Project Runway All Stars). Production of Top Elf for Nickelodeon is overseen by Rob Bagshaw, Executive Vice President, Unscripted Content.

'The Astronauts' Cast & Crew Celebrates Launch with Special Drive-in Screening on the Universal Backlot

On Friday, October 30th the cast of Nickelodeon and Imagine Kids + Family’s new live action series The Astronauts, celebrated its premiere with a special drive-in screening on the Universal Backlot.

The Astronauts series follows a group of kids who embark on the adventure of a lifetime when they are mistakenly launched into space.

Chance Perez Is ‘Honoured’ to Join ‘Power Rangers’ Franchise, Talks Writing Possible Music for New 'Dino Fury' Series

The 22-year-old, who is best known for his affiliation with the boy band In Real Life, is heading to the small screen to play the black ranger in the upcoming Power Rangers series, Power Rangers Dino Fury, which will air on Nickelodeon in 2021!

“This opportunity came around and I wasn’t sure if I was going to audition, but then I thought to myself, ‘Why not? Just give it a shot,’ and then I was in New Zealand not too long after, so it all happened really quickly. It feels so surreal to me because I really haven’t done much acting in my life, and to say that I’m a Power Ranger on their TV series is a dream come true,” Perez told ET Canada in his first interview since booking the role.

“I’ve been watching [the franchise] since I was a little kid,” he added. “’Power Rangers’ helped instil a lot of morals into me such as wanting to do better, try harder and be a good person. And I know that the franchise has done that for thousands of kids across the globe, so to be a part of this franchise, it’s a real honour.”

Perez hopes to pass those lessons down to his daughter, Brooklyn, who is “so excited” to be in New Zealand watching her dad on set.

“She was so excited to see the rangers in their costumes with their helmets on,” Perez said. “She was so nervous to even wave to them because she was so awe-struck. She was a fan of Power Rangers before I even got the audition, so this experience means a lot to her. I just hope that she sees me working hard, and she wants to do that in her life as well and keep pushing forward. Life is never easy, and this surely isn’t easy, but I’m working hard and I hope that she takes from that and incorporates it into her childhood.”

Perez has had a little bit of time to take Brooklyn sightseeing in their new temporary home, but when he’s not seeing the Waitomo Glowworm Caves, tree walks and Hobbiton, he’s bringing his childhood boxing training to a whole new level.

“We get to work with this Japanese stunt team and they are incredible,” Perez said. “They’re relentless in their training, and they go above and beyond. There’s a specific type of fighting style that the black ranger is learning right now to incorporate into these fight scenes and I’m really excited for it. They’re very inspiring.”

And In Real Life fans who are missing the sound of Perez’s sweet voice, can tune in closely to the series to hear a familiar voice.

“I’ve been talking to them about possibly helping compose the music by writing a little bit of it or offering some of my own songs that fit the storylines, so we’ll see how that goes, but it’s in the talks,” Perez said.

'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Producer is Trying to Develop a Sequel to Original '90s Movie

In the thirty years since the first live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, there has not been a follow-up that captured the audience's imagination in the same way as the first. Like Superman: The Movie, the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film from director Steve Barron is considered a watershed moment. In the days before fully-realized CG characters was a realistic possibility, Jim Henson and his Creature Shop helped bring Raphael, Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Donatello to life onscreen in a way that thrilled kids and surprised everybody by looking...well, pretty good. Years later, producer Kim Dawson and writer Bobby Herbeck say they would love to bring back the old-school Heroes in a Half-Shell as much as anybody else.


In fact, according to Herbeck, those are conversations he has had with Barron, Brian Henson (who has run the Creature Shop since his father passed away in 1990), and whoever will listen. It came up when ComicBook.com asked whether one of those Halloween or Bill & Ted-style "20 years later" sequels would have any appeal for them.

"Yes. The answer is yes," Herbeck said emphatically before CB could even finish the question. "We're trying to make that happen. We want to do a reboot. We got our fans come to us on Instagram, they're, 'Why don't you guys do a reboot of the first movie?' We'd love to do it."

He said that one of the big appeals of potentially trying to return to this look, and this continuity, for the Turtles is imagining what Jim Henson's Creature Shop could do with the Turtles thirty years on, and using the kind of mind-blowing technology that makes a show like Earth to Ned possible.

"The truth is, this property, it's established now after 30 years as a part of our modern pop culture, it's not going away," Herbeck added. "It's only going to continue to grow. I do wish that we could go back. I mean, we've talked to Steve Barron about this, and Brian Henson, and if there were an opportunity, if one of the studios saw fit, I think we could go back and reboot it like it was....Imagine if Brian Henson had access to the technology he does today to make these costumes and all that. I think it would be amazing. A reboot like that I think would really get people's juices flowing."

This Thursday through Saturday (November 6-8), Fathom Events and Warner Bros. are bringing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles back to select theaters. You can get more details on the event at the Fathom Events website.

Nickelodeon currently has two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies in the pipeline: Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, based on the network's current TMNT series, set to premiere on Netflix in 2021; and a CG-animated movie from Seth Rogen's Point Grey Pictures.

How a Nickelodeon Casting Director’s Advice Helped ‘Ozark’ Star Julia Garner After a Bad Audition

Julia Garner has revealed that she once auditioned for a Nickelodeon show! However, it didn't quite go as planned.


Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor, who has gone two-for-two in the Emmy’s for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Ruth Langmore on Ozark, impressing many viewers with her portrayal of her popular character, reflected on a failed audition early in her career that led her to more meaningful work as an actor and explains why she aims to forget how she performed in each take of a scene she does.

Garner recalls her audition for a Nickelodeon program when she was a teenager that appeared to have gone poorly. She remembers, “The casting director stopped me in the middle. She was like, ‘Honey, you’re great, but you shouldn’t be here.’ I’ve never been stopped in the middle. I was like, ‘Excuse me?'”

In all actuality, the remark wasn’t meant to be offensive — it was supposed to be positive reinforcement. Garner continues, “[The casting director] is like, ‘You should do independent films.’ I was too natural maybe in terms of acting. I was just too weird-looking. When you think about teen actors, you think of them having this gorgeous, luscious hair and being so pretty that you’re like, ‘You would never be the shy girl in high school.’ I was definitely not [the luscious hair girl]. My style, it’s still the same. It’s been the same since I was 6 years old, which is a black turtleneck.”

The advice paid off — Garner appeared in films like Martha Marcy May Marlene, We Are What We Are, Grandma, and The Assistant while appearing in TV series like The Americans and Waco before being cast in Ozark. All that prestige work has given Garner the ability to lose herself in her performances, which is something that she strives for in each role. She shares, “I never like the feeling of remembering a scene, because that means that I wasn’t present. If you’re hearing yourself talk, you’re not listening. It’s the same thing when you’re acting. If I remember what I did on a take, I ask to do it again.”
