BURBANK, Calif.--May 12, 2020--The voice cast of SpongeBob SquarePants will come together for a virtual table read to recreate the most memorable moments from Nickelodeon’s longest-running animated series. Premiering Fri., June 5, on Nickelodeon, The Stars of SpongeBob Fan Favorites Special sees Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs) and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton) join in a half-hour virtually produced special to bring to life classic SpongeBob SquarePants scenes, as voted on by fans.

The Stars of SpongeBob Fan Favorites Special will feature animation from the original episodes alongside the voice cast’s re-creation of beloved scenes. Voting on a selection of scenes is now open on NickPlay.com, where fans can pick from classic moments, including “Band Rehearsal,” “Alaskan Bull Worm,” “I’m Dirty Dan,” and more. The special will also include the best one-liners, iconic quotes and a performance of a brand-new rendition of the “F.U.N. Song.”

Dobrick is set to host Nickelodeon’s “SpongeBob” table read special, “The Stars of SpongeBob Fan Favorites Special.”

Nickelodeon Receives 12 Nominations in the 47th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) has announced the fantastic news that Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids, has received 12 nominations in the 47th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards!


The Daytime Emmy® Awards recognize outstanding achievement in daytime television programming. The awards are presented to individuals and programs broadcast between 2:00 am and 6:00 pm in the U.S., as well as certain categories of digital and syndicated programming of similar content.

This year’s awards honor content from more than 2,700 submissions that originally premiered in calendar-year 2019. The submissions were judged by a pool of 1,000 peer professionals from across the television industry whose confidential ballots were then tabulated by the independent accounting firm of Lutz & Carr, LLP.

The winners of Daytime Emmy Awards 2020 will be announced during a two-hour special on Friday, June 26 (8:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. The special will feature award recipients and other special guests appearing from home in light of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

The June 26 telecast will mark the 14th time CBS has broadcast the Daytime Emmys®, more than any other network. The special will be produced by the National Academy and Associated Television International (ATI), which previously produced Daytime Emmy® ceremonies on The CW in 2009 and on CBS in 2010 and 2011.

“In these challenging times, daytime has been a primary influence in staying connected with its audience, entertaining them, and keeping them informed,” said 47th Annual Daytime Emmys® executive producer and director David McKenzie of Associated Television International. “We are honored to be a part of it. We are also excited for the challenge of introducing a new format that will celebrate the contributions of daytime television.”

Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? and Double Dare have each received a nomination in the "Outstanding Game Show" category.

Blue's Clues & You! has been nominated for "Outstanding Interactive Media For A Daytime Program" category, and Nick Jr Paw Patrol Ready, Race, Rescue: Trailer, Nickelodeon's trailer for their the PAW Patrol special "Ready, Race, Rescue", has received a nomination in the "Outstanding Daytime Promotional Announcement -Topical" category.

SpongeBob SquarePants has been nominated in the "Outstanding Sound Mixing For An Animated Program" category, and voice actor Tom Kenny has been nominated for the "Outstanding Performer In An Animated Program" award for his role as the titular sponge.

Finally, Pinky Malinky, a animated series produced by Nickelodeon and airs on Netflix, has been nominated in the "Outstanding Editing For An Animated Program" category.

Nickelodeon Acquires 'Tinpo' for Noggin in Latin America and Brazil

Latin America sales specialist Spiral International has secured a pan-regional deal with Nickelodeon Latin America for the CG-animated series, Tinpo, with the series debuting this August in Spanish and Portuguese on Nick Jr. Latin America’s premium edutainment app, Noggin.


Originally ordered by the U.K.’s Cbeebies, the 78 x 7’ preschool show is a partnership between Cloudco Entertainment, Dentsu Inc. and OLM, Inc., and is produced in association with Sprite Entertainment, Inc. (dba Sprite Animation Studios/OLM Digital, Inc.).

Zasha Robles, Managing Director at Spiral International stated: “We are delighted to bring these fun and clever stories that encourage kids to deploy their creativity in order to go the extra mile. Both children and parents will fall in love with Tinpo’s characters, its production design and its imaginative approach to story-telling.”

Combining themes of construction and unconventional problem-solving, the main character of Tinpo and his team resolve problems in their unique world in ways that are never the most practical but always the most fun, innovative and marvelously unexpected. And just as importantly “team Tinpo” always gets the job done. Whether the characters turn a house upside down to put a dance floor on the ceiling, or reroute storm clouds to preserve a sunny holiday, Tinpo and his compatriots always come up with a solution that solves the problem at hand and brings lots of new fun into their world while doing so.

Noggin has recently been ramping up content available on the recently revamped service in Latin America and Brazil, including acquring the rights to are Care Bears: Unlock the Magic, partnering with the Ecuadorian chapter of the prestigious Swiss academy, “The Bénédict International Language School” for Garden Academy, partnering with Mobius.LAB Kids for a new live-action and mixed-media, and most recently, launching a microsite featuring educational online activities to provide to help keep preschoolers entertained during the global COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

La distribuidora Spiral International anunció este jueves un acuerdo panregional con Nickelodeon Latin America para la serie de animación CGI Tinpo, que debutará en agosto a través de Noggin, tanto en español como en portugués.

Last year, more than 1,000 local organisations helped more than 100,000 children around the country to play outside. This 13th edition promises to be an historic day due to the current global COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic,

This year, according to the guidelines set by RIVM (Rijksinstituut voor Volksgezondheid en Milieu / Netherlands' National Institute for Public Health and the Environment) and the Dutch government, no major play events are able take place. However, Nickelodeon and Jantje Beton will be providing kids and families with lots of tips on how children can play outdoors safely via buitenspeeldag.nl (think of a chalk-drawn race tracks on pavements, skipping, ball games, and much more!). In addition, children and local organizations can also download this year's cool poster on the Buitenspeeldag website so that the whole country can see that it's time to play outside again!

In this way, both Nickelodeon and Jantje Beton will offer a helping hand in their own way in creating games, playgrounds and organising play activities. In the coming weeks Nickelodeon and Jantje Beton will campaign to get as many children as possible to play outside. Like previous years, the Nickelodeon TV channel will "go dark" for a few hours to encourage kids to go outside and play.

During this special edition of Buitenspeeldag, Nickelodeon and Jantje Beton will play together with the Johan Cruyff Foundation and the Krajicek Foundation. Both organisations have been committed to teaching the importance of regular outdoor play and sports for years and support Nickelodeon and Jantje Beton's message wholeheartedly. Jaarlijks doen ruim 350.000 kinderen mee aan de activiteiten en projecten van Jantje Beton. Kinderen en jongeren in kwetsbare (speel)posities krijgen hierbij extra aandacht. Wij willen bereiken dat álle kinderen en jongeren in Nederland dagelijks kunnen spelen en bewegen. Op die manier kunnen kinderen alsnog veilig buiten spelen. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan een racebaan krijten op de stoep. Of touwtjespringen, balspelletjes en nog veel meer. Campagne

Kids’ Choice Awards 2020: i vincitori del mondo della musica

Kids’ Choice Awards 2020: tutti i vincitori dei premi del mondo della musica organizzati dal canale Nickelodeon.

Si sono svolti regolarmente (più o meno) nonostante l’emergenza Coronavirus i Kids’ Choice Award 2020. La manifestazione organizzata dal canale americano Nickelodeon, tra i più amati di quelli che si rivolgono al pubblico di giovanissimi, è stata condotta da Victoria Justice al posto di Chance the Rapper.

Tanti i collegamenti video da casa, mentre lo studio è rimasto vuoto. Ecco tutti i vincitori di questa edizione per quanto riguarda il mondo della musica. Ricordiamo che lo show andrà in onda in Italia sul canale 605 di Sky il 22 maggio alle 11.30 e alle 20. Quindi se non vuoi spoiler, non proseguire!

L’artista femminile preferita del pubblico di Nickelodeon è stata quest’anno Ariana Grande, riconoscimento già vinto nel 2016 e nel 2019. Per quanto riguarda gli uomini, il preferito è invece stato Shawn Mendes, per il quarto anno consecutivo.

Il gruppo preferito dei giovani spettatori di Nickelodeon sono invece stati i sudcoreani BTS. Per quanto riguarda la canzone dell’anno, non c’è stato alcun dubbio: ha vinto Billie Eilish con la sua bad guy.

La miglior collaborazione dell’anno è invece stata quella tra Shawn Mendes e Camila Cabello, che hanno duettato sulle note di Senorita. E il miglior emergente? A vincere in questa categoria è stato Lil Nas X, il rapper di Old Town Road.

Infine, il premio per la global music star è statoa vinto da Taylor Swift.

Kids' Choice Awards 2020, i vincitori (di un'edizione casalinga)

I Kids' Choice Awards 2020 di Nickelodeon si sono tenuti "a distanza", con la conduttrice Victoria Justice che ha annunciato i vincitori da casa sua e contributi video di numerosi ospiti

Quest'anno niente bombe di slime, nessuna folla di ragazzini entusiasti davanti ai loro idoli, nessuna festa di musica ed esibizioni. I Kids' Choice Awards 2020, così come tutte le altre manifestazioni previste in questi mesi, ha dovuto reinventarsi: i premi assegnati ogni anno dai giovani telespettatori di Nickelodeon si sarebbero dovuti tenere il 22 marzo scorso, in piena emergenza sanitaria, al The Forum ad Inglewood, in California.

Impossibile pensare di tenere un evento del genere, ma Nickelodeon non ha neanche deciso di annullarlo del tutto: così, i Kids' Choice Awards 2020 si sono tenuti lo stesso, con il sottotitolo "Celebrate Together" ed una cerimonia tutta casalinga, che in Italia andrà in onda su Nickelodeon (canale 605 di Sky) il 22 maggio, alle 11:30 ed alle 20:00.

La conduzione di Chance the Rapper è saltata: al suo posto, Victoria Justice, uno dei volti più noti di Nickelodeon. A lei il compito di presentare i vincitori direttamente da casa sua, addobbata con palloncini arancioni (colore che caratterizza il logo del network). Non è mancata neanche un'esibizione musicale, di Asher Angel -sul palco si sarebbe dovuto esibire Justin Bieber-: il tutto, per cercare di trasmettere un po' di normalità ai giovani telespettatori e, soprattutto, rimarcare l'importanza del rispetto delle regole per superare questa emergenza.

Passando ai vincitori, anche questa insolita edizione dei Kids' Choice Awards ha premiato film, serie tv e star della musica, consegnando ai più votati online dal pubblico il celebre dirigibile arancione, simbolo della manifestazione. ViacomCBS Appoints Dan Cohen as President, ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group; Marco Nobili as SVP of Strategy and Emerging Business, Americas

Dan Cohen will lead global distribution, while former Netflix and Amazon Prime director Marco Nobili takes on a newly created strategy role.


ViacomCBS is shaking up its corporate level executives with a couple of new appointments. On the distribution side, it has appointed Dan Cohen (pictured, left) as the president of the ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group, replacing longtime exec of 20 years Armando Núñez.

Cohen will take on the role in June, and in his new position he will be the top global distribution exec for the company. He will be responsible for monetizing ViacomCBS’s portfolio of original content, as well as the programming from all of its studios and brands, including Nickelodeon.

Cohen has served as the president of global content licensing for the company since the merger in December 2019, and was then in charge of all licensing for ViacomCBS-owned programming to third-party platforms. He also led the licensing teams in growing distribution opportunities.

Prior to joining the company, Cohen served as the president of worldwide home entertainment and TV distribution for Paramount Pictures. He joined Paramount in 2017 as the president of worldwide TV licensing. Prior to working at Paramount, Cohen spent 20 years at Disney as the EVP of pay TV and digital sales for home and entertainment and TV distribution, for the Walt Disney Studios. While there he distributed Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm properties worldwide. He was also behind Disney’s exclusive, multi-year deals and licensing agreements with Netflix and Starz.

Núñez meanwhile, is transitioning into an advisory role at the company. He worked at CBS for 21 years, and in that time he helped build the CSI, NCIS and new Star Trek TV franchises. He also led CBS’ acquisition of Network 10 in Australia and oversaw CBS TV Distribution. He joined CBS in 1999, and worked in a number of senior exec roles while there. Before joining CBS, he held leadership oles at Universal International Television, and Viacom.

On the network side, ViacomCBS Networks Americas has tapped former Netflix director Marco Nobili (pictured, right) for the newly created SVP of strategy and emerging business role. Nobili will lead the company’s developing strategy for products as well as its OTT business, including Pluto TV, Noggin and Paramount+, in the region. He will also manage business intelligence operations across North and South America, including researching and analytical functions for programming, streaming and data.

Based in Mexico City, he will report to JC Acosta, the president of ViacomCBS Networks Americas. Previously, Nobili was the director of product innovation and original launch strategy for Netflix in Spain and Latin America. He worked there for several months, identifying long-term opportunities and overseeing content launches. Before that he worked at Amazon for four years in various roles, most recently as the country manager for Amazon Prime Video on the business and marketing side for Mexico and Spanish-speaking Latin America. While there, he launched Amazon Prime Video in the region and managed marketing, customer growth, content and distribution.

In other ViacomCBS news, the company has teamed up with Idris Elba (Zootopia, The Jungle Book) to launch a virtual benefit concert to raise funds for food and health assistance in Africa. Hosted by Elba, ViacomCBS Networks Africa will launch the “Africa Day Benefit Concert at Home” via the MTV Base Africa YouTube channel on May 25, before airing it on the network’s channels in the country.

Musicians and celebrities from across Africa will make appearances, alongside performers including rapper Ludacris, and actor Trevor Noah (The Daily Show). All funds raised from the concert will be donated to UNICEF and the UN World Food Programme to support their work helping COVID-19 affected communities in Africa.

Armando Nuñez To Step Down As ViacomCBS Global Distribution Chief, Dan Cohen To Take Over Role

Armando Nuñez is stepping down as boss of ViacomCBS’ Global Distribution division with Dan Cohen taking over the top international sales position.

This comes after the integration of CBS’ and Paramount’s global distribution teams, overseen by Nuñez, following the merger.

Nuñez has been a key figure in the international TV business for over 25 years and will transition into an advisory role at the company. He will pass the baton to Cohen, who came from the Paramount side and was President, Global Content Licensing for ViacomCBS following the merger.

Cohen, who starts in the role next month, will oversee the international sales of titles from CBS, The CW, CBS All Access and Showtime as well as programming from its Paramount Pictures, Paramount Television, Paramount Players, Paramount Animation, CBS Television Studios and CBS News brands.

Nuñez has been Chairman, Global Distribution Group, and Chief Content Licensing Officer for ViacomCBS since the close of the merger in December 2019. Before that, he was President and Chief Executive Officer for the CBS Global Distribution Group and Chief Content Licensing Officer for CBS Corporation.

In a memo to colleagues, Nuñez said that the integration was accomplished “much faster than any of us expected” and now means that it has 24 offices worldwide with a library of nearly 4,000 films and 140,000 episodes of television.

“Thanks to Armando’s exceptional leadership, the critical work to unify our global licensing and distribution operations is complete, and the team is moving forward with a comprehensive strategy for the future,” said ViacomCBS President and CEO Bob Bakish. “In fact, we are already making material progress growing this key business, driven by our combined strength in studio production and our unrivaled library of hit franchises and titles across TV and film. With a smooth transition between outstanding leaders, and with Dan at the helm, we continue to be in the best position to thrive.”

In addition to overseeing the sale of the company’s shows to international broadcasters, Nuñez was credited with playing a key role in CBS’ acquisition of Australian broadcaster Network Ten and bolstering CBS’ international growth, including key deals with broadcasters like Sky in the UK. He is synonymous to international buyers for the LA Screenings, where he is often chatting up global networks as they enjoy In ‘N’ Out burgers and Pink’s Hot Dogs on the lot.

He also directed CBS Television Distribution, which produces and distributes syndicated hits including Entertainment Tonight, Dr. Phil, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy! and Judge Judy.

Nuñez joined CBS as President of what was then CBS Broadcast International in July 1999 and assumed the additional title of Executive Vice President, CBS Enterprises in January 2000. In 2004, Nuñez was named head of CBS Paramount International when CBS and Paramount merged later becoming CBS Studios International. Prior to joining CBS, Nuñez served as President, Universal International Television. From 1994 to 1997, he was President, New World International Television Distribution. From 1992 to 1994, Nuñez was Executive Vice President, International Sales at Viacom Entertainment.

“When Bob asked me to lead this group post-merger, part of the plan was that I would transition from day-to-day leadership to an advisory role once the two teams were integrated and a future strategy was set,” said Nuñez. “Working side by side with Dan, that process has gone faster than expected and is now complete. We are well-positioned wherever this rapidly evolving media landscape takes us, and I can’t think of anyone better to lead us forward than Dan.”

ViacomCBS Networks Americas has appointed Netflix exec Marco Nobili to the newly created role of SVP of strategy and emerging business.

Nobili will oversee ViacomCBS strategy for the Americas across its products and platforms, as well as leading the OTT strategy for streamers such as Pluto TV, Noggin and Paramount+.

He will work with ViacomCBS Networks International on the strategy and also oversee departments including business intelligence, reporting to JC Acosta, president of ViacomCBS Networks Americas.

Nobili, who will be based in Mexico City, was most recently director of product innovation & originals launch strategy for Netflix in Spain and Latin America. His role involved identifying long-term opportunities and overseeing new content launches.

Earlier this month, ViacomCBS CEO Bob Bakish outlined plans to launch an international pay TV streaming product in multiple markets within the next year, as part of an expansion of its efforts designed to “create a meaningful brand presence in streaming video in key markets around the world.”

ViacomCBS Networks taps Netflix’s Nobili

ViacomCBS Networks Americas has appointed an executive from Netflix to the newly created role of senior VP of strategy and emerging business.

Marco Nobili will be responsible for driving ViacomCBS Networks’ emerging strategy for the Americas across its products, platforms and commercial lines of business.

In addition, Nobili will lead the OTT strategy and execution of ViacomCBS Network America’s key streaming properties in the free and paid space, Pluto TV, Noggin and Paramount+, in line with the global ViacomCBS Networks International strategy.

He will also oversee the business intelligence areas, including research and analytical functions for all entertainment programming, streaming and data operations. Nobili will report to JC Acosta, president of ViacomCBS Networks Americas, and will be based in Mexico City, Mexico.

Nobili joins ViacomCBS from Netflix, where he was director of product innovation and originals launch strategy in Spain and Latin America, where he identified long-term opportunities and oversaw the launch strategy for new content.

Prior to joining Netflix, Nobili held several positions at Amazon, including regional manager for Amazon Prime Video, where he launched and oversaw the market strategy for Prime Video in Mexico and Spanish-speaking Latin America.

“Marco is a senior strategic executive with the proven ability and expertise in the OTT space and is key to driving our streaming strategy forward in the Americas,” said Acosta.

“ViacomCBS is a powerhouse of content creation and is now uniquely positioned to be a strong player in the VoD space with a potential to become one of the strongest industry leaders in the region,” added Nobili.

In related news, ViacomCBS has promoted veteran execs Trevor Rose and Justin Rosenblatt to senior roles in its entertainment and youth group division.

Rose has been upped to executive VP, talent and content development and head of talent, entertainment and youth.

Rosenblatt, meanwhile, has been promoted to senior VP, alternative and comedy content for ViacomCBS’s entertainment and youth group.

Rose previously served as senior VP, talent and series development for MTV Studios, VH1, CMT and Logo.

Most recently, Rosenblatt oversaw cult hit comedy Schitt’s Creek over its six seasons at ViacomCBS-owned Pop TV.

In his previous role heading alternative programming at The CW, Rosenblatt was responsible for the Whose Line Is It Anyway? reboot, the relaunch of MadTV and Penn & Teller: Fool Us and Masters of Illusion.

ViacomCBS’s entertainment and youth group is run by Chris McCarthy under Nina L Diaz, president of content and chief creative officer for the entire group.

The promotions come after it was announced that Sarah Babineau, head of Comedy Central content and creative enterprises, will be leaving the company at the end of the year.

'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Animators Sneak In Nickelodeon Logo Easter Egg

Eagle-eyed viewers of Avatar: The Last Airbender have noticed a blink-and-you-miss-it Easter Egg featured in an episode of Nickelodeon's beloved animated series!


In episode four of Avatar: The Last Airbender"Book Three: Fire", "Sokka's Master", after the rest of Team Avatar saves a town from destruction by a meteorite, Sokka feels left out as he is the only person in the group unable to bend. He finds a swords master named Piandao to help further his skills as a warrior, forging his own sword out of the meteorite. Sokka gives Toph a remaining piece of the meteorite, calling it "space earth". Happy with the gift, Toph bends the meteoric iron into various shapes between her hands, such as a sphere, a spiral, a star, and a iconic Nickelodeon splat logo!:

How to Watch 'Avatar' Sequel 'The Legend of Korra' on Amazon Prime, YouTube and Google Play

In just a short week, Avatar: The Last Airbender became the most watched bit of content in Netflix’s entire digital library. The highly binge-able animated series, which first aired on Nickelodeon in the mid-2000s, is sure to leave viewers hungry for more – but what to do about that hunger?


Fortunately, series creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko followed up their masterpiece with an equally impressive sequel. Unfortunately, however, that sequel – aptly titled The Legend of Korra– is not available on Netflix at the moment.

While fans strongly suspect that the streamer will distribute the show ahead of releasing its planned reboot of the original story, those who feel that they can’t wait will be glad to know that Korra’s adventure awaits on other streaming platforms.

Long story short, The Legend of Korra is currently available on CBS All Access, Amazon Prime, YouTube and Google Play. On Amazon, The Legend of Korra is available to watch via the NickHits SVOD channel, and Prime subscribers can watch the show for free, while non-members must pay a small fee fixed at about $10 per season, or $2 per episode.

Meanwhile, on YouTube and Google Play, you can purchase the complete show for £39.99 or individual episodes for £1.99 with Google Play offering each season for £16.49 individually.

In case you’ve recently been introduced to Avatar for the first time, Legend of Korra follows Korra, the next reincarnation of the Avatar, a messianic figure endowed with the ability to control all four elements – fire, water, earth, air – at once, as she battles against spiritual and political unrest in a changing world.

While this means that Aang, the previous Avatar, and protagonist of The Last Airbender, has died by the time The Legend of Korra story begins. However, he, along with many of his companions, still play an important part in the story. The series ran for 52 episodes over four seasons (or "Books").

The Legend of Korra is a worthy successor which perfectly balances the obligation to pay homage to its frontrunner with the need to explore new themes and reinvent itself, and therefore is certainly worth the watch.

The series received widespread praise, winning the IGN Best TV Animated Series award in 2012, the Annie award for Storyboarding in an Animated Production in 2014 and the Gracie Allen award for Outstanding Animated Programming-Production in 2015.

The Legend of Korra is also famous for featuring one of kids' TV's first same-sex relationships! Korrasami 4 eva!
