The original Blue’s Clues series launched in September 1996 to critical praise from educators, parents, and preschoolers and ran for six groundbreaking seasons. Created by Traci Paige Johnson, Todd Kessler, and Angela C. Santomero, Blue’s Clues drew acclaim and high ratings for its unique interactivity that helped change the way kids watch television and has remained one of the most popular preschool shows of all time. The landmark series also raised the bar in preschool television by exploring advanced subject matter such as sign language, geography, physics, emotions, and anatomy. The original series debuted on Treehouse in Canada in 1998.

The Adventures of Paddington London Premiere

To celebrate the upcoming debut of The Adventures of Paddington, Nick Jr. UK hosted a PAWsome Orange Carpet premiere event at the Ham Yard Hotel in London's Soho on Sunday 9th February 2020! Among the many attendees were show stars Paddington and Morwenna Banks, Take That's Gary Barlow, who composed the show's theme song, and celebrities including Vanessa Feltz, Ferne McCann and her two-year-old daughter, Phyllis Logan, and former JLS star JB Gill with wife Chloe Tangney and their two children, Ace, five, and Chiara, 17-months! Check out a selection of photos of the event below!:

From Metro:

Gary Barlow joins forces with Paddington Bear for mega British new series

Paddington Bear and Gary Barlow fans – you’re in luck. The pair have joined forces for a new series and it’s just adorable. The Take That star has written and performed an adorable song for the opening credits, with the sequence taking us and everyone’s favourite bear around London. And it’s an absolute bop. The sweet bear is seen snacking on marmalade sandwiches as he waits for a train in the clip, as well as dancing through the parks of London, and floating away past Big Ben for the new Nick Jr series, The Adventures of Paddington Bear.

Basically, he’s loving life in the big city and we’re very here for it.

Ben Whishaw is reprising his role as the adorable bear, with Peppa Pig’s Morwenna Banks, Spy’s Darren Boyd, Dr Who’s Noel Clarke, Downton Abbey’s Phyllis Logan, and The League Of Gentlemen’s Reece Shearsmith also featuring in the series. Bobby Beynon and Sheena Bhattessa are also joining the cast, alongside Monica Lopera, Sabrina Newton-Fisher, David Schofield, Liz Sutherland-Lim and Jeremiah Waysome. Fans have got a little while to wait before the series airs, with it being released in March 2020, but it’s sure to be worth it.

It’s a good thing fans are getting their Paddington fix as a third animated movie could be a while away yet. After uncertainty from Ben, it was revealed that a third installment is in the works after the success of the first two – but director Paul King won’t be on board.

‘Paul is involved in it, I wanted him to be involved in it because I think he’s such a significant voice, but I don’t think he’ll direct it,’ producer David Heyman told Collider. ‘He worked on the idea… he comes up with the idea with Simon Farnaby and Mark Burton and then they develop it and come back for more, back and forth, and then it’ll get written and Paul will come in and stir it up a little bit. But he’s an incredible collaborator, Paul. Very positive, very supportive.’

Hey, we’re never going to say no to more Paddington. The Adventures of Paddington Bear will be released in March 2020 on Nick Jr.

Paddington property ready for bumper 2020

New TV series and dedicated products, plus appearance in special trail among plans for classic brand.

The Copyrights Group has outlined a plethora of plans for the Paddington brand in 2020.

New developments for the popular franchise begin with the launch of The Adventures of Paddington TV series in the UK this spring. Starring the voice talent of Ben Whishaw as Paddington and with a theme tune by Take That’s Gary Barlow, the preschool series is aiming to introduce the character to a new audience.

Following the launch of the TV series, a range of dedicated products will launch including new books from HarperCollins in the spring.

This will be followed in the autumn by new products from Rainbow Designs (plush and toys), Ravensburger (puzzles) and Trends UK (electronic learning).

Additional tie-in products are due from spring 2021.

Meanwhile, from February, fans in London will be able to sit on one of the benches in Leicester Square and have lunch beside Paddington as part of Scenes in the Square. This is a dynamic trail of eight interactive bronze statues inspired by Britain’s love of film and a century of cinema from the 1920s to 2020s.

The ongoing partnership with Butlin’s will continue with Paddington at the Seaside, with the live stage show performed in all three UK resorts.

In addition, a third Paddington film is currently in development.

From Mirror:

Downton Abbey's Mrs Hughes plays housekeeper again in the world of Paddington bear

EXCLUSIVE: Downton Abbey’s Phyllis Logan plays Mrs Bird in a new animated series about the adventures of Paddington bear. The seven part series also stars Ben Whishaw as Paddington.

Phyllis Logan as Mrs Bird in Nickelodeon Jr's Adventures of Paddington (Image: Nickelodeon)

Downton Abbey’s Phyllis Logan is keeping house once more – but for a bear rather than aristocrats.

The star has swapped playing stern Mrs Hughes in the magnificent country house for being Mrs Bird in the chaotic and charming world of Paddington.

Following the huge success of the two recent Paddington films there is a new animated series about the beloved bear’s adventures.

Bond star Ben Whishaw is the voice of Paddington and Morwenna Banks brings Mrs Brown to life in the seven-parter starting tomorrow.

Phyllis, 64, said: “It’s a wonderful thing to be involved with. It’s close to all our hearts.”

Most would agree with her that the Paddington books, written by Michael Bond from 1958 to 2017, the year he died, are national treasures. Phyllis said: “The movies have reintroduced the story to a whole new generation of children and adults.”

All the actors voiced their parts separately. At one point it sounds like Phyllis is performing with Gary Barlow, even though she never met the Take That star, who sings the series’ theme tune.

Phyllis, who won a Bafta for the 1983 war drama Another Time, Another Place, said: “We all sing together in the chorus so I sound like I’m singing with him. I think it’s great and hope it becomes a No1 hit.

“Mrs Bird is a larger than life character – everything is at ten rather than a five or six. Our voice director is brilliant – always suggesting new things or telling me to give it a bit more oomf!”

Phyllis, known for playing Lady Jane in TV’s Lovejoy, said she appreciates her work more as she gets older: “Life goes faster the older you get. Grab the moment.”

She based Mrs Hughes in Downton, on figures from her own childhood in Renfrewshire. Phyllis recalled: “I was brought up knowing women like Mrs Hughes – grandparents, neighbours, that sort of woman. I could bring real life experience to the part.

“Those women might seem fearsome or hard bitten in some ways but underneath it all they had a good heart and were decent and could be very funny.”

Downton is such a hit in the US that the cast are treated like royalty there.

Phyllis said: “The American fans are very enthusiastic. If they like you, they will let you know in no uncertain terms.”

Phyllis still makes an effort to get together with her Downton cast mates. She said: “Some of us see each other whenever we can.”

And if rumours of a sequel to last year’s hit Downton Abbey film prove to be true they may spend even more time together.

Watch The Adventures of Paddington start tomorrow at 4.30pm on Nick Jr.

Nickelodeon International Talks Expanding Global Production Activities, Eyeing More International Partnerships

Nickelodeon International is expanding its global production activities and eyeing more international partnerships, reports Gün Akyuz for C21 Media.

ViacomCBS-owned global kids’ brand Nickelodeon is busy diversifying its global activities and ramping up its studio production under president Brian Robbins.

Although Nickelodeon’s U.S. studio remains the production engine for the lion’s share of its originals worldwide, outside the U.S. the network deploys a ‘studio without walls’ model, says London-based Nina Hahn, Senior Vice President (SVP) of production and development at Nickelodeon International. Hahn, who oversees the group’s global content slate outside the U.S., says Nickelodeon International will pair up with external studios on any continent.

Stateside, Nickelodeon’s expanding studio strategy has already led to interesting bedfellows, such its recent content production partnership with Netflix.

“Being at the centre of what kids want, and with Brian Robbins at the helm of Nickelodeon globally, there’s a real push to rejoice in the kid experts that we have always been and figure out what that looks like today,” says Hahn.

“One of the great things that Nickelodeon International brings to the table is the unique boutique of so many different cultures, with so much different talent both in front of and behind the camera.”

Nickelodeon has its work cut out, with linear viewing fragmenting as its main streaming competitor, Disney+, is now forecast to pick up big subscriber numbers as it continues to roll out globally, following its strong U.S. launch last November.

A sanguine Hahn responds: “There has always been competition and this is no different. In some ways, the competition has been a good thing because it’s forced all of us on the linear side – and not just Nickelodeon – to figure out how to take the best of what we are, the experts that we are and mature into a landscape that is ever-changing.”

Upcoming toon It’s Pony involves input from three countries

The Nickelodeon brand is currently available to 400-plus million households in more than 170 countries, through 100 locally programmed linear channels and branded blocks, spanning Nickelodeon and preschool service Nick Jr. There is also the Nick Play and Nick Jr. Play apps featuring shows and games and, on its YouTube Nick Jr channel, attracts about 11 million subscribers.

Now bolstered by an expanding studio model, along with the recent ViacomCBS and CBS All Access streaming developments, which allows it “skin in the game,” Hahn says: “It’s quite exciting because it reminds you to remain nimble, reminds you to figure out how you can take what you do so well but add another arm to it for our group.”

Everyone’s challenge, Hahn continues, will be “fantastic product at the beginning of the food chain. We spend a lot of time making sure, through research and all of these partnerships, figuring out what’s culturally relevant to kids and what’s happening now, how we can see the landscape change to our benefit.”

Current programming, original production, children’s

A core mission for Hahn is ensuring that Nickelodeon continues to reflect the reality for kids in an ever-shifting landscape.

Hahn says Nickelodeon’s route is to create content that feels relevant to today’s culturally agnostic kids, kids who are used to hearing different accents and understanding different ways of looking at things.

Diversity is a notable feature in Nickelodeon’s shows. “We have a lot of shows on the docket that speak to a lot of the diversity, authenticity and inclusion aspects of what is second nature to kids today,” says Hahn.

Examples of such diversity include Emmy-winning animated series The Loud House, featuring same-gender parents; its spin-off The Casasgrandes, following a Latina family, including a character with Down’s syndrome and was renewed for a second season in February following its launch in the U.S. last fall; hit preschool show Nella the Princess Knight, preschool’s first mixed-race female knight; and live-action series Hunter Street, now in season 4, which centres on a family of foster kids.

Such programmes are “really trying to show the new definition of what it means to be a family, what it means to be a tribe or what it means to belong to something, across both the domestic and the international side,” says Hahn.

Hunter Street focuses on a family with foster kids

Behind the scenes, Nick’s production models are becoming increasingly diverse too. Hunter Street is based on one set of scripts, one crew and a shared cast but with a local Dutch version (De Ludwigs) and a global version for everybody else – the first time a Nickelodeon show has been made that way, says Hahn.

“It’s a really interesting way of producing, looking at scripts and figuring out how to appeal to everybody culturally, not just one small group.”

Launching soon is It’s Pony (20×11’), from Nickelodeon International’s UK team and production company Blue Zoo. Developed by British creator Ant Blades and Hahn, the series was written by two New York-based writers, voice cast in LA and overseen by a French art director and so on, in what Hahn dubs Nick’s “UN production model.” She explains: “We’re pulling together the best of the best from wherever they may be in order to make what we feel is a hit show that’s going to be relevant to kids everywhere.”

The show will also be the first time Nickelodeon has produced an animated series outside the U.S. that will launch worldwide. The series, which debuted successfully stateside in January, begins rolling out to the rest of the world in April, starting with the UK. “We’ve done it across preschool, across live-action and across TV movies, but we’re yet to do it across Big Nick animation,” she says.

“It’s quite a feather in our cap and quite an exciting moment for the international industry, because it’s the first time this has really ever been done.”

Another newcomer is Ollie’s Pack!, Nickelodeon’s Canadian co-production with Corus Entertainment-owned Nelvana. Chris Rose, Vice President (VP) of animation for Nickelodeon International calls the production a “no-brainer,” following the pair’s success with Corn & Peg. The project, which launches in the U.S. in April before rolling out internationally, came out of the Nickelodeon Animation Shorts Program and “ticks all the boxes when it comes to fun, relatable characters, dynamic and highly imaginative storylines,” says Rose.

Based in London, Hahn’s team is the anchor and source of support for production and development in all regions, but the way it works with local countries is evolving into a more symbiotic relationship, she says.

Asia has been a top region for Nickelodeon production over the past two years, with activity exploding in China and Singapore in particular, says Hahn.

Canadian copro Ollie’s Pack! launches in the US in April

Now in production and with season two in the pipeline is CG animated preschool show Deer Squad (formally Deer Run), a copro with Chinese streamer iQiyi. The show, which spent 18 months in development in China, was boarded and produced in China and written in the UK.

The collaboration is a milestone for Nickelodeon International, comments Lynsey O’Callaghan, director of current preschool series and acquisitions at the company, and a “testament to our commitment and belief that high-quality, original animation content can come from any part of the world.”

Season one, which launches internationally this year, also marks “the first time Nick Asia is taking a Chinese original from the conception phase before airing on our networks internationally,” says O’Callaghan.

Last autumn, Nickelodeon also forged a copro venture with Alibaba-owned Chinese giant Youku as part of a wider content deal with its parent, Viacom. Under the venture, the two companies will develop and produce an original animated series with the working title Little Luban.

Nickelodeon underpins everything it does with globally conducted research. In the preschool space, for instance, more local nuances are required to satisfy a parent that a show ‘is made for my child in my region,’ or is meaningful to a young child. In Deer Squad, for instance, the balance of physical comedy and visual jokes and emotion-led stories is somewhat different to what a Western audience would be used to, says Hahn.

“Figuring out how to connect the dots between what works and is relevant to the Chinese kid and what works and is relevant to the Western kid has been part of our process of upcycling development and how we make things for a more global audience,” she explains.

“It’s really been a blast to try to figure that out, and there’s definitely an answer. It’s just a matter of doing it from the very early stages, with a very clearly representative team of all of these areas – it’s like the UN of production.”

Nickelodeon is now expanding its Asian production with two as-yet undisclosed animated projects now in the works in both South Korea and India, targeting the 10-year-old sweet spot.

“Nickelodeon’s Western-produced content doesn’t do well on Nick India, and more generally, lots of the Western content doesn’t work because kids in India have a different taste to many other kids,” explains Hahn.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to figure out how we could find something that could be made once and used both in the East and West. The answer was to come up with the idea together and build it from scratch together all the way through every single element of design, scripting, boarding, rough cuts and the rest.”

All these projects are helping to inform the kind of models for further collaborations in the region, with another two or three relationships now in the early stages. “These first models will allow us to continue producing, using the lessons of the production models that we’ve deployed in a lot of these areas,” says Hahn.

CG preschool show Deer Squad is a copro with iQiyi

In Europe, UK-produced live-action series Goldie’s Oldies (20×22’) is being prepared for launch later this year.

Produced in-house by Viacom International Studios (VIS) UK and filmed in Manchester, it is VIS’s first original commission for Nickelodeon’s channels and platforms outside the U.S., says Charly Valentine, VP of live-action production and development at Nickelodeon International.

The project used a global writing room to bring in different comedic and cultural perspectives, along with its universal themes, including the importance of family and multigenerational relationships, says the exec.

As part of its core kids mission, Hahn says Nickelodeon’s vision is about “growing the studio business and growing the kid expertise that we have to be able to make content for everyone. You’re starting to see it, obviously with some of these relationships, such as with Netflix and other deals that have already been announced.

“The idea is to be a studio as well as a broadcaster, such that we can make great content for kids everywhere, whether it’s for our own networks or for third parties. Figuring out those third-party relationships has been something I’m really excited about,” says Hahn.

Coming out of the Nickelodeon International group soon will be an as-yet undisclosed new partnership that marks the first stage of that trajectory, and others will follow, Hahn reveals.

“We’re always open to new partnerships, we’re always open to reinventing a deal and figuring out another way to work at it and remain nimble,” she says.

Here’s How to Be a Contestant on Quibi’s ‘Legends of the Hidden Temple’ Series

$

Calling all Legends of the Hidden Temple fans! This afternoon, Quibi announced that it will be opening up casting for its adult-sized Legends of the Hidden Temple revival series. To qualify, simply order some elbow pads on Amazon, find a partner, and enter your email on Quibi.com to ensure that you’re at the top of the list when special casting information is released.

From Tuesday, March 10 to Friday, March 13, Hidden Temple die-hards will be able to enter their email for a chance to compete in Quibi’s new, adult-oriented reboot of the '90s Nickelodeon game show. Those who enter their email will be the first to hear casting information about the forthcoming series, which will once again pit the Blue Barracudas and the Silver Snakes against one another in a battle of physical and mental ability.

According to Quibi, there are four easy steps to ensuring that you’re first to get casting information for Legends of the Hidden Temple:

1 - Get your knee and elbow pads ready

2 - Identify your teammate – you’re in this together

3 - Head to Quibi.com and enter your email address to get the latest news from Quibi

4 - Keep an eye on your email for special casting details

Legends of the Hidden Temple originally aired from 1993 to 1995 on Nickelodeon (with re-runs throughout the rest of the '90s and through to the mid-noughties on Nick and Nick GAS). Hosted by Kirk Fogg, with Dee Bradley Baker (SpongeBob SquarePants, American Dad) providing the voice of the all-knowing Olmec, each episode saw six teams of two compete in a series of physical and mental challenges with the goal of retrieving as many “ancient artifacts” from a fictitious Mayan temple as possible. At the end, the winning team received a prize, but nothing quite compares to the glory of successfully rebuilding the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. Fogg and Baker returned and reprised their roles for Nickelodeon's Legends of the Hidden Temple movie in 2016. It film also featured popular elements from the show, like the Steps of Knowledge, and featured cameos from animals who lend their names to the competition teams. No word on Fogg or Baker's involvement in the new series.

Quibi’s Legends of the Hidden Temple reboot will include many elements of the original game show, including the Moat Crossing challenge, narrator (and stone head) Olmec, and the final Temple Run. But while Nick’s series was targeted towards kids, Quibi’s reboot will be geared towards adults, and the challenges and prizes will be “scaled up” to accommodate the “grown up” tone. Each episode of Quibi’s series is expected to be around 10-minutes long.

Legends of the Hidden Temple is produced by Nickelodeon and Stone & Company Entertainment (Paradise Run, A Season With, The Mole). The series is executive produced by Scott A. Stone, one of the original creators of the beloved hit. Based on the game show Legends of the Hidden Temple by David G. Stanley, Scott A. Stone and Stephen R. Brown.

Hurry up, Legends of the Hidden Temple-rs! Olmec is waiting.

From Observatório da TV:

From Notícias da TV:

"Ninguém do elenco é gamer. No máximo, alguns meninos jogam Fifa.

From La Opinión:

From Jornal Diário do Grande ABC:

From Notícias da TV:

The PAW Patrol movie is the first of a number of feature films in the works by Spin Master's Entertainment division.

It is also the most recent in a raft of Nickelodeon properties to get the Paramount treatment, following in the footsteps of 2016′s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, 2019′s Dora and the Lost City of Gold, and this year’s The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run.

For years PAW Patrol has been a driving force behind sales for the company’s preschool and girls segment (up 7% to US$493 million in fiscal 2017 and up 5% to US$517.5 million in fiscal 2018). The brand recently stumbled as declines contributed to the segment dipping 23.3% to US$63.3 million in Q1 2019, though it bounced back in Q2 2019 (up 10% to US$96.4 million).

From License Global:

Spin Master: An Epic Toy Story

Learn why mastering kids' entertainment for decades is no child's play.

A Hollywood scriptwriter couldn’t dream up a more inspiring tale than the real-life story behind global children’s entertainment powerhouse Spin Master. In just roughly three decades since its inception, Spin Master is firmly poised to conquer the toy industry throne as one of the top seeds among kids’ entertainment mainstays that have dominated the space for decades.

If the past is any indication of the future, Spin Master is on pace to expand exponentially, outpacing the growth of legacy toy-industry giants and even surpassing purely-entertainment-focused companies. With a bevy of world-renowned flagship properties, nine television series, countless award-winning toy products, a behemoth licensing roster, key business acquisitions and an elite team of executives leading a host of offices across the globe – Spin Master is a study of entrepreneurship and business acumen.

Of course, the Toronto, Canada-headquartered billion-dollar public company is where it is today thanks to a series of pivotal licensing wins that any company, serving any product category, could benefit to learn from. The phenomenal story behind the company that introduced brands like “PAW Patrol,” Bakugan and Hatchimals, to name just a few, began humbly in 1994.

Planting the Seeds for Success

Soon after graduating from The University of Western Ontario, childhood friends Ronnen Harary and Anton Rabie founded Spin Master. With their own investment of $10,000, Harary and Rabie launched Spin Master’s very first product: Earth Buddy, a nylon stocking-covered head of sawdust coated with grass seeds that sprouted to emulate hair (à la Chia Pet). The duo sold the item on the street and eventually got product into specialty retailers, garnering enough success to expand their operation into a small facility in Downtown Toronto.

The next big win came in 1998, when Spin Master launched its popular Air Hogs brand, a technologically advanced, affordable product with a miniature engine and remote-control operation. The success of the product propelled Spin Master to expand into other regions.

Between 2002-2007, Spin Master grew its international footprint and opened offices in Western Europe as well as an innovation hub in Los Angeles, Calif. The growth continued as Spin Master made its first pivotal purchase– acquiring X-Concepts, the maker of Tech Deck.

And then came the birth of one of its superstar properties.

Capturing the Spotlight

In 2007, Spin Master created its most successful product up to that point – Bakugan. Beginning as a sketch of a ball that would open to reveal a character inside, Bakugan exploded into popularity, quickly becoming a hit brand among boys ages 5-10 and went on to be the subject of a global animated television series, marking Spin Master’s foray into content production. With the boys segment locked in and bringing the. company even further financial growth, Spin Master then astutely focused eff orts to target girls, creating a new property, Zoobles.

“Innovation, not only innovation in our products, entertainment and brands but also in our business approach, makes Spin Master unique,” says Juli Boylan, vice president, franchise development and outbound licensing, Spin Master. “We are constantly scouring for new and unique opportunities. We have an entrepreneurial spirit, so we are relentlessly thinking outside of the box.”

By taking the Bakugan brand from a germ of an idea to a hit product and then to a popular animated series, Spin Master became the toy company to watch.

“What started as an inventor’s sketch on a napkin led to a worldwide success, validating Spin Master’s tenets of partnership, integrity and entrepreneurial spirit,” says Jennifer Dodge, senior vice president, entertainment, Spin Master. “From the original idea to the team of partners assembled to bring the show to life, it epitomized Spin Master’s long-held commitment to innovation. Spin Master grew exponentially during the during the four-to-five years that Bakugan was at its prime.”

Acquiring New Heights

Perched on the back of Bakugan’s immense success, Spin Master was able to make a series of key acquisitions that elevated the company to another level.

“Strategic acquisitions have propelled Spin Master’s innovation into new categories, strengthening existing business and creating new opportunities for growth,” says Boylan. “These acquisitions have further reinforced Spin Master’s position as licensor and licensee.”

The acquisition of Spy Gear expanded Spin Master’s portfolio of boys’ action and outdoor toys. Acquiring Meccano brought Spin Master into the building sets category. Buying Cardinal Games made Spin Master a leading manufacturer in the games and puzzles category in North America. Other key acquisitions include GUND, Etch A Sketch, Toca Boca/Sago Mini, Swimways, Marbles, Aerobie and Perplexus.

“The acquisition of Toca Boca and Sago Mini, with their strong brand presence, allowed Spin Master to develop a leadership position in the mobile app space for kids, rounding out our ability to entertain kids in both the physical and digital world,” adds Boylan.

Stealing the Show

Spin Master launched its entertainment division in 2008 in an effort to create cross-platform children’s content that would complement its expansive toy offering. Since then, the division has produced more than 200 half-hours of kids’ programming for television, film and the web – including one wildly popular series about a group of special dogs.

In 2014, Spin Master launched “PAW Patrol,” its first fully in-house developed multi-platform property. The CGI-animated series, airing on Nickelodeon, and its accompanying toy line, is arguably one of Spin Master’s biggest wins. Led by 10-year-old Ryder, a group of heroic pups – Chase, Marshall, Rocky, Rubble, Skye, Everest, Zuma and Tracker – embark on various brave missions to help those in need.

“Storytelling and characters are at the heart of everything that we do, whether it’s entertainment or toy,” says Dodge. “Spin Master’s deep understanding of play gives a unique perspective and insight that helps to create story worlds and toys that resonate with children and elicit that ‘wow’ moment. We are known for our innovation and commitment to high quality with meticulous attention to detail that results in experiences that capture the hearts and minds of global audiences, whether on screen or through physical play.”

Since their debut, the “PAW Patrol” pups have gone on to capture the hearts of kids across the globe. “‘PAW Patrol’ is now an evergreen global franchise that airs in more than 160 countries, consistently ranking as one of, if not the No. 1-rated preschool series,” adds Dodge. The runaway success of “PAW Patrol” was pivotal to Spin Master’s remarkable journey, adding handsomely to the company’s expansion and, ultimately, its ability to go public in July 2015.

Securing the Throne

Serving as the backbone, pulse and heartbeat that pumps life into Spin Master’s continual growth is its award-winning licensing program. Spin Master is both a licensor and a licensee with a track record of securing best-in-class partnerships that consistently win at retail.

“In addition to valuable owned IP, Spin Master continues to attract a highly sought-after portfolio of licensed products, most recently a 10-year partnership with Feld Entertainment for Monster Jam (worldwide master toy partner), a three-year license partnership with DC (boys’ action category) and securing the master toy rights for DreamWorks Animation’s new preschool series ‘Gabby’s Dollhouse,’” says Boylan.

Spin Master’s impressive and dynamic licensing program kicked off with Hatchimals.

“Hatchimals was a genuine phenomenon when it was released in October 2016,” says Boylan. “We could never have predicted the success we would see at launch. To be sold out well before the holidays, with as much buzz as it had, shook up the industry a bit – that a non-licensed, new toy brand could achieve so much, so quickly. This got us a lot of attention from potential licensees, who began pitching us as quickly as we began pitching them.”

Spin Master secured deals for Hatchimals across several product categories.

“We capitalized on the excitement around the initial launch, and in 2017, we signed more than 50 Hatchimals product license agreements,” says Boylan. “Among the initial categories was publishing, which was very important to us right from the start. We were so lucky to partner with the amazing teams at Penguin Random House to build out the lore of Hatchtopia. Back-to-school also really drove our initial offerings. We wanted to launch with the right assortment of products for that time of year: apparel, backpacks, lunch bags, hosiery, stationery, etc., so that we could be as relevant as possible, as soon as possible.”

Today, Spin Master has hundreds of partners delivering product all across the world. Spin Master licensed products cover major categories including toys, apparel, accessories, stationery, home, back-to-school, youth electronics, sporting goods and publishing. According to Boylan, Spin Master will focus future eff orts on corporate partnerships and the “better-for-you” food and beverage category.

Some of the company’s most notable recent partners include retailer H&M, which launched a “Toca Life”-themed collection of apparel and accessories that was so successful, it inspired a new line planned for release later this year. Other major partners include Tastemakers (backpack clip-ons), Sakar (youth electronics), Flix Candy (confectionery), Immediate Media (magazines in the U.K.) and Showtime Attractions (live events in Australia), among many others.

Spin Master has also strategically tapped into consumers’ love for nostalgia by deploying comprehensive programs around its acquired classic legacy brands. “Spin Master has built a reputation for acquiring legacy brands and infusing them with unexpected innovation while also leveraging their licensing potential; for example, Etch A Sketch,” says Boylan. “This year marks an exciting milestone for the classic red-framed drawing toy, as it marks its 60th anniversary. To celebrate the original magic screen, the Etch A Sketch brand has teamed up with other iconic brands to unveil a series of limited-edition launches inspired by the classic board game Monopoly, space exploration leader NASA, heritage toy Rubik’s and comic book marvel Stan Lee. Each will have their own limited-edition Etch A Sketch drawing toy, merging two iconic worlds into one magic, shake-to-erase collector’s item.”

The remarkable 2019 revival of the Bakugan brand is also raking in licensing gold.

“We have also launched our global licensing efforts for Bakugan, building on the brand’s rich heritage and adapting to a new generation of fans,” says Boylan. “Spin Master is managing sales in the U.S. and has appointed Nelvana to manage Canada and France, CPLG for the U.K. and EMEA (excluding France), Tycoon for Latin America (excluding Mexico), La Panadería for Mexico and Haven for Australia/New Zealand. The licensing program leverages the key attributes of the brand – battling, gaming and collectability with a style guide based on anime-styled art.”

Spin Master is also wisely flexing its licensee muscle, picking up powerhouse partners each step of the way.

“From a licensee perspective, within one year of the 2018 acquisition of premium plush legacy brand GUND, Spin Master secured the fi rst licensee rights for ‘Hilda,’ Silvergate’s new Netflix animated-adventure TV series, and Line Friends, one of the fastest-growing global character brands in the world,” adds Boylan.

GUND’s trusted 120-year legacy is a draw for hugely successful brands, creating the ultimate collaboration to bring beloved characters and personalities to life. A great example of this is Doug the Pug, the most-followed pug on the internet with more than 13 million collective followers. GUND will be expanding its collection of the internet superstar, revealing items at New York Toy Fair this month, as well as a special appearance by the top dog himself. Spin Master’s largest market is North America. It leverages the help of licensing agencies to further expand in other regions. Agencies include CPLG (U.K. and EMEA), Tycoon (Latin America), Haven (Australia) and Segal Licensing (Canada).

Winning Recognition

Innovation is coded deeply within the DNA of Spin Master. The company tops the list of Innovative Toy of the Year Award nominations. Spin Master has won 30 TOTY Awards and has been nominated for 110 TOTY Awards. It received a whopping seven nominations for the 2020 TOTY Awards, which reveals winners on Feb. 21. This year’s nominations include License of the Year (“PAW Patrol” Mighty Pups Super PAWs), Action Figure of the Year (Bakugan Dragonoid Maximus), Vehicle Toy of the Year (Monster Jam MEGA Grave Digger Remote Control), Creative Toy of the Year (Cool Maker Go Glam Nail Stamper), Doll of the Year (Candylocks basic doll), Construction Toy of the Year (Erector by Meccano and inventor set) and Intro to Robotics and Preschool Toy of the Year (Demo Duke).

The Saga Continues

“Evergreen global properties including preschool powerhouse ‘PAW Patrol,’ relaunched global battling phenomenon Bakugan and the magic of Hatchimals have established Spin Master as a leader in content creation, toy development and franchise-building,” says Boylan.

Spin Master is a bonafide leader in business – with a winning strategy of leaning heavily on creativity.

“As creators, designers and manufacturers of innovative toys and games as well as producers of successful entertainment properties, Spin Master’s focus is on pushing the boundaries of innovation, creativity and fun,” adds Boylan.

With a laser-sharp focus on innovation, agility and growth, Spin Master’s innumerable victories achieved over the span of nearly three-decades will continue in 2020 and beyond. The epic story of Spin Master has no end in sight. The rest is still unwritten.

ViacomCBS Launches Noggin in Poland, Spain

ViacomCBS Networks Poland has launched Noggin, Nickelodeon's top-ranked video subscription service for preschoolers, in Poland! Available on Apple TV, Noggin is priced 11,99 zł a month, and comes with a seven day free trial.

Update (10/3) - ViacomCBS Networks has launched Noggin in Spain!

From Mój Mac:

Z abonamentu można w każdej chwili zrezygnować i wznowić go w innym terminie, już oczywiście bez darmowego okresu próbnego.

Psi patrol w Noggi Kanały Apple TV
Dajcie znać, co o tych serialach sądzą Wasze dzieci.

From Applesfera:

'Dreams' Player is Making Incredible 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Video Game

$

An Avatar: The Last Airbender superfan is currently developing a brand new fan-made video game inspired by Nickelodeon's beloved animated series through Dreams game creation system, and thousands of fans are already hooked on its concept and demo!

Although Avatar: The Last Airbender has had a few video games based on the series in the past, none of them have really captured the magic of the show. However, the up-and-coming fan-made creation called Avatar [Aang Project] currently being built using the Dreams game creation system might change that, among many other fan-recreation projects going on in Dreams.

Elca Games, aka Colin Gluth, is working to finally give Avatar fans something they've wanted for a long time: a video game adaptation that feels like an authentic recreation of the source material--and as with other Dreams recreations, this one is being made for fans, by a fan.

As of right now, Gluth has put over 700 hours of work into his massive passion project, which is intended to follow the story of all three Avatar seasons from Aang's awakening near the Southern Water Tribe all the way to his battle with the Fire Lord Ozai. Gluth's main reason for picking Avatar as the subject of a fan-made game is his belief that the early PS2 games lacked a whole host of mechanics that would've been perfect for a game set in that world; his Aang Project includes some fun-sounding (and show-appropriate) mechanics already. There's puzzle-solving as Momo, flying as Aang using the Avatar's glider, and something even more impressive: Gluth is also working on complete movesets for each of the show’s four elemental Bending styles, which fans will recall are all based on different types of martial arts.

"As a huge fan of the series, I want to create an Avatar game that has the vibes of the show," Gluth told IGN. "You will be able to visit locations and explore them, relive moments from the show, and just feel like Aang." His love of Avatar is clear throughout the playable pre-alpha version currently online and in his future plans for the game, which is probably why Elca Games' YouTube channel boasts over 8 million views across its Aang Project videos. Right now there's no specified release window, as Gluth isn't putting pressure on it, but he's got a loose goal of finishing it sometime next year.

Elca Games'Aang Project appears to be doing something that none of Avatar's other adaptations have managed yet to do: win the respect and admiration of longtime Avatar fans just waiting for more content to dig into. Whether there'll be trouble on the copyright side of things remains to be seen, though it should be said that Gluth is doing his part to be transparent and communicative, and it helps that he couldn't sell the game anyway since it's made with Dreams.

Hopefully, Avatar's creators acknowledge Gluth's Aang Project as the passion project it is, especially considering the impressive fact that Gluth has no prior game design experience: he's just letting his love of Avatar and knowledge of the Dreams toolset carry him where it will.

Dreams is available now for the PS4.

Aang Project: 18 Screenshots of Avatar: The Last Airbender Fan Game

From IGN:

The Unofficial Avatar: The Last Airbender Game That Already Has Millions of Admirers

Meet the man who wanted a good Avatar game so much, he’s making it himself.

Avatar [Aang Project]’ was the first creation I followed in Dreams. Coincidentally, I’d recently finished a rewatch of Nickelodeon’s incredible series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and bemoaned the fact that there never was a truly excellent gaming take on the show’s magical martial arts, despite it feeling perfect for the medium. Then I finally made the time to check out Dreams when it was still in early access and found someone calling themselves Elca Gaming was already making the game I’d assumed didn’t exist. And then I found out that it was already a huge deal.

I don’t remember how I found it, exactly, but what I stumbled across was little more than a promise for what Aang Project could be: an Avatar ability-testing area and some proof-of-concept locations. But what a promise it was. Elca Gaming was working on complete movesets for each of the show’s four elemental Bending styles, a usable glider, Momo the lemur as a separate playable character and, going by the map, a playable retelling of the show’s three-season arc in some of its most memorable locations. Despite its clearly early state, it was already looking right and, more importantly, feeling right.

I went to check for more and found that I was far from the first person intrigued by Elca Gaming’s work. Last May, the creator had used his YouTube channel to upload a montage of his first 80 hours of work. As of right now, that video has 3.3 million views. Across Elca Gaming's videos of the project as a whole, you're look at well over 8 million views in total. The early playable version I stumbled across is among the most thumbed-up work-in-progress projects inside Dreams right now. There’s a case to be made that this is one of the most-anticipated games being developed inside Dreams – and yet, amazingly, the man making it has no prior experience in game development.

Colin Gluth used to work in online marketing in Germany, using his evenings to post Let’s Play videos on his YouTube channel. When the Dreams beta first arrived he jumped in, intrigued by the idea, but didn’t spend enough time to get truly familiar. When it hit full early access a year later, however, he chose to dive in headfirst: he spent hours learning the tools and then searched for a long-term project to sink his teeth into.

“There were several reasons why I chose Avatar,” he tells me over email. “I replayed several PS2 Avatar games in the beginning of last year and noticed a lack of mechanics that would have fit perfectly in the world of Avatar; also I never really felt like [I was] reliving the show or revisiting the iconic places shown in the series. Once Early Access for Dreams dropped, I just started rewatching the show. Another thing that pushed me to do it was [...] the huge potential a game like this could have, considering there is a very hungry Avatar fanbase still out there, just like me, crying for a new Avatar game.”

He wasn’t wrong. After quietly working on his game, uploading videos of his latest creations as he went, the YouTube algorithm suddenly clicked into place and began recommending his montage video to millions of people’s sidebars across the world. His sudden success on YouTube (and subsequently Twitch, where he livestreams development of new features) has allowed given him the flexibility to go “pretty much full-time” on the project.

“Honestly, I can’t really comprehend these numbers,” he tells me when I ask about how it feels to suddenly have this many eyes on his work, “I just keep my head down, work on the game while reading comments and feedback I get and continue to make videos. I usually try to answer every comment, but with so much interest it is not possible anymore. I do read everything, though.”

One benefit of Dreams is that Gluth’s work can speak for itself – those intrigued by what they've seen on YouTube can load up the regularly updated pre-alpha build he’s made public and try out what he’s been showing off. Comments inside Dreams regularly talk about which videos have sent them to his creator profile, offer constructive feedback on what he could make next and, most of all, express an excitement for the eventual full release that feels more familiar to the comments sections under AAA gaming trailers than homemade fan projects.

The truly ludicrous thing is that Gluth has no background in games development whatsoever. “I can’t draw, code, animate, model, or anything else related to that,” he explains. “The only thing that could influence my development skills in any form are my general interest in art and design. Dreams’ tools, however, make everything very accessible. If you can imagine it, you can create it.”

It sounds like a marketing pitch, but his work bears that out. Someone with no prior experience is making the Avatar game of Avatar fans’ dreams, and it's been made possible because of, well, Dreams.

The Avatar's Journey

Gluth’s put around 700 hours into Dreams as he speaks to me, with the majority of that going into his game (as well as the background systems he’s creating for it, which he uploads for others to use in their own creations). He has a lot more dev time ahead of him:
“I don’t have a specific release window for the game because I want it to be as good as possible. The good thing is that I don’t have any pressure from anybody to finish it in a specific time frame. The most important thing for me is that I am happy with the full release and it has as little bugs as I can manage. It is also good that I always have a fairly stable version online in Dreams that people can play and report bugs, so I can fix them as soon as they pop up. I very loosely aim for next year, but again, no pressure on that.”

Perhaps the biggest question right now is what form this game will actually take when it is done. We know it will be a 3rd-person action game at its heart, but the pre-alpha build understandably doesn’t offer much of a sense of its structure. Right now, Gluth is working on its moment-to-moment elements – how Aang controls, what abilities he has, and how the world interacts with him – but the more wide-scale ideas are very much in his mind.

“The game will mainly follow the story of all three books from the Last Airbender series,” he tells me. “You will play as Aang and Momo (with Momo used for Puzzles and opening areas for Aang) in all major locations that were shown in the series. You will begin in the Southern Water Tribe, which will be used as a Tutorial Area to teach you all the essentials. After that, you will continue to the Southern Air Temple, and so on.”

The idea right now is for the game to span 20 major locations from the show, culminating (as the show did) in Aang’s battle with Fire Lord Ozai, leader of the Fire Nation. It’s a game built from a love for the source material, offering the ability to relive it as authentically as possible, rather than an attempt to write fan-fiction around it.

“As a huge fan of the series, I want to create an Avatar game that has the vibes of the show,” he explains. “You will be able to visit locations and explore them, relive moments from the show, and just feel like Aang. This includes some glider levels, Avatar State, major landmarks like the Fire Nation ship that Katara and Aang explore, an original soundtrack in the style of the one used in the show, and many other little references and nods to moments seen in The Last Airbender. I’m putting all my passion for Avatar into this project and hope that will show in the final release.”

I’d argue that that’s showing through already.

Aang For Your Buck

Gluth has one concern about his project: “I am also a little bit worried about the copyright side of things, as many would expect, but I really hope that the creators acknowledge such a passion project that literally millions of fans are enjoying. I am also not able to sell it in any kind or form since it’s made inside Dreams.”

While the inability to make money directly should mean that Gluth’s free from official reproach, Media Molecule has made clear previously that it won’t manually feature creations in Dreams that could be seen to violate copyright. Yet even without that manual support, the sheer weight of user interest has pushed Aang Project to the upper reaches of several automated sections in Dreams’ search tools, meaning it’s a very visible project and becoming more visible by the day.

Gluth’s clearly hoping that that visibility leads to a positive interaction with those behind Avatar, rather than a more difficult one with their lawyers: “I did try to contact [Avatar co-creator] Mike DiMartino to let him know about the game, but didn’t get a reply yet. If any officials [want to] contact me to get me on an official Avatar game I would absolutely love to help out with game design.”

Like the millions watching his videos, and like me, Gluth just wants an Avatar game worthy of the show he loves so much. Unlike me, however, he happens to have the commitment and talent to potentially make that a reality. It’s a game made by someone who clearly feels they know exactly what an Avatar game should do, and how it should feel, born out of respect for the creators – a fan project in the purest sense.

I can even feel that coming through in our interview: after an email chain full of long, well-reasoned responses, Gluth adds a single final line, written to the show’s creators, seemingly added as a hasty afterthought. It says almost everything about the loving fan mentality behind his work:

“If they happen to read this: I would love to meet you guys!”

You can play a the current build of Aang Project in Dreams right now, and check out regular video updates on its development on Elca Gaming's YouTube channel.

New Short Documentary Explores the Phenomenon That Was 'Nick Arcade'

'Would you like to play Joe & Mac?'

If you were alive in the '90s, lived in the U.S. and remotely liked video games, odds are you've heard of Nick Arcade.

Hosted by Phil Moore, Nick Arcade was part game show, part tournament, pitting two teams of two kids against each other through two initial trivia rounds, with the winner advancing to the "Video Zone" to play against the virtual "Video Game Wizard" of the day via green scene magic. Filmed at Nickelodeon Studios at Universal Studios Florida, the series ran for 84 episodes over two seasons in 1992, with re-runs occurring throughout most of the '90s and the mid-noughties on Nick and Nick GAS.

If you want a quick throwback to the '90s, Wrestling With Gaming has released a super short 22-minute-and-change documentary on their YouTube channel that quickly runs down the origins of the show and breaks down each facet of it in a very digestible way, providing factoids in the process, behind-the-scenes footage and briefly chatting with co-creator Karim Miteff.

There's a lot of great trivia here, like the rumor that someone at Nickelodeon ordered too many space camp trips, so they were given away as prizes on various network game shows, and that Nickelodeon was weary of the idea that Nintendo and Sega would consent to having their games featured on the show at the same time: only for the producers to solve the problem.

This show blew many fans' minds when it came out and was way ahead of its time: its legacy deserves to be preserved! As the doc hints it could still come back, thanks to the passion of WWE superstar Xavier Woods, who wants to host a new incarnation of the show. Legends of the Hidden Temple is coming back for Quibi, so there's a good chance we could see a Nick Arcade revival, too!

The Nick Arcade Story | The Show That Put People Inside Video Games

Nick Arcade was a TV game show centered around video games that aired from 1991 through 1992. Two teams of two were pitted against with the winning team after 2 rounds getting to compete inside of an actual video game for the grand prize. Nick Arcade was a technical marvel at the time and an extremely popular show for Nickelodeon. This is the story of how a group of pioneers, Amiga Computers, and a charismatic host made the impossible happen… putting people inside of real video games. This is the story of Nick Arcade.

Amanda Bynes Reunites with Fiancé Paul Michael Following Breakup

Update (3/10) - Just one day after it was confirmed that the former actor and her fiancé of just three several weeks had called off their engagement, Amanda returned to Instagram with a photo that may prove otherwise. "My love," she captioned a selfie of her and Paul Michael on Monday evening.

Out of respect to Amanda and Paul, I won't be updating this post much going forward. Amanda's mental health and well being is top priority, and it wouldn't be fair to speculate given the circumstances.

Update (3/8) - Amanda Bynes and her fiancé, Paul Michael, have split and ended their engagement, In Touch has learnt. “We did,” Paul told In Touch, confirming their breakup. “I love her though, she’s my best friend.”

Split rumors started swirling after the 33-year-old deleted every photo of Paul, including their engagement announcement, from her Instagram page. “Engaged to tha [sic] love of my life,” the former Nickelodeon star wrote in the caption of a photo of her gorgeous ring featuring her man’s hand in the background, which was posted on February 14, Valentine's Day, after meeting in rehab.

Update (3/9) - Amanda Bynes has reportedly been ordered to enter a psychiatric facility amid ongoing concern for her mental health. The news comes just after her now ex-fiancé Paul Michael confirmed over the weekend that they have called off their 3-week engagement. According to sources who spoke to The Blast, the former Nickelodeon star, her family, and Michael met for a conservatorship hearing last week, during which a judge ordered Bynes seek professional treatment. During the meeting, details of the actress' and Michael's engagement and her current mental state were discussed.

Although Bynes was reportedly allowed to leave the hearing, having promised that she would voluntarily check herself into the live-in facility over the weekend, the actress is now reportedly refusing to do so. According to sources, Bynes "never showed up" to the facility and she is "refusing to cooperate."

At this time, it remains unclear what further steps will be taken. Her family is now reportedly encouraging her to follow through with her promise to voluntarily check herself into the facility.

The sources add that the situation has been taxing on Michael, who was "freaked out" after hearing the details discussed in the Thursday hearing and is currently "freaking out now" after realizing how poor her current mental health is. The hearing also reportedly shed light on many of the details of her life Bynes had told him, which were not actually happening.

Michael is now said to be worried how about how the ordeal may be a threat to his sobriety and does not wish to do anything "that would get him in trouble with the judge or others in this case." He doesn't want to be blamed for Bynes' current mental state. The sources claim that this partially contributed to the decision to end their engagement.

Concern over Bynes' mental health has been growing in recent weeks, with fans citing concern over her well-being following her quick engagement to Michael, whom she had reportedly only been dating for "several months." Prior to that, fans expressed worry after she debuted her first face tattoo.

When Amanda announced her engagement, a source told E! News that "Amanda's parents are fully aware of her engagement and at this point are not approving Amanda to legally get married under the conservatorship."

Additionally, the actress' mother has been managing her affairs and finances since she underwent personal and legal turmoil that landed her in rehab several years ago. The conservatorship is reportedly set to last until August.

Just last week, she took to Instagram and revealed she was "celebrating being sober a year and two months!"

She had complained on Instagram last month about the cost of her mental health treatment and said she had asked to speak to a judge about her conservatorship.

"Amanda is really upset about [the breakup] and not taking it well at all," a source told Us Weekly late Sunday. "Paul realized the relationship just couldn’t go forward because of the obstacles of the conservatorship and Amanda must live at a sober living facility."

The 33-year-old actor and Nickelodeon alum took fans by surprise when she revealed on Valentine's Day that she accepted a proposal from her mystery man.

"Engaged to [the] love of my life," Bynes captioned an Instagram photo of a large diamond ring on her hand, which she placed over what's assumed to be her fiancé's hand. In the photo, he's wearing a gold band.

Hours later, the Nickelodeon alum posted a selfie with her fiancé, simply writing, “Lover”:

Aside from the infrequent social media post, very little is known publicly about Bynes' personal life these days. Last year she graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise [FIDM] and moved into a sober living facility to continue focusing on her health. But this past December, E! News reported that Bynes left the facility and had dropped out of a FIDM bachelor's degree program she enrolled in.

"She's not doing drugs and mentally and physically she's okay," a source told E! News at the time, explaining that Amanda was "open to getting help" if needed.

Around that time, Amanda also revealed that she got a tattoo of a heart on her cheek.

The All That, The Amanda Show and She's the Man star detailed her history of drug abuse in a 2018 interview with Paper magazine. In what marked one of the only times she's openly discussed her private turmoil, Amanda recalled feeling like she had "no purpose in life" after retiring from acting.

From there, Amanda said she began "hanging out with a seedier crowd and I isolated a lot... I got really into my drug usage and it became a really dark, sad world for me."

Congratulations on your engagement, Amanda! :)

Update (2/17): The identity of Amanda Bynes' mysterious finance has been revealed. His name is Paul Michael — a man Bynes reportedly met while in rehab. Bynes surprised her fans on Valentine's Day by announcing their engagement on Instagram, and shared a picture of Michael's face on Saturday. While she made the announcement on Friday, fans have also since speculated she's been engaged for quite some time as a previous photo showed her wearing the ring.

On Friday night, Bynes posted a photo of her hand on a man's hand, with her giant diamond engagement ring front and center. "Engaged to tha love of my life," the former Nickelodeon star, 33, wrote in the caption.

Hours later, she shared another photo, showing Michael standing behind her. "Lover," was all she wrote in the caption.

Michael's identity remained a mystery for hours, until E! News confirmed his identity. A source told the outlet the two met when she was in rehab and they started dating about two to three months ago. The outlet adds that the engagement is real.

Sources told The Blast Bynes' family has been told about the engagement, but she cannot legally marry Michael without a judge signing off on it. She is still under a conservatorship headed by her parents, and the site's sources said Bynes might not have been aware of this when she said yes to Michael.

Michael is in his 20s and is still in school, according to The Blast. He lives in the San Fernando Valley area with his family and has connections to the entertainment world, as his brother reportedly appeared in a reality show about cars. His father is a "prominent doctor" in Los Angeles.

In early December, a source told Entertainment Tonight that Bynes checked out of a sober living facility and was temporarily living with her parents while she searched for a place to live on her own. The Blast reported around the same time that Bynes' parents rushed to court because they wanted a judge's approval to get Bynes more treatment because they feared she would go back to using drugs.

After she left the sober living facility, a source told E! News she was "open to getting help." The source said Bynes was "not doing drugs again," but her sobriety is still "always the concern."

Last year, Bynes earned an associate's degree from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise, but dropped out while working on her bachelor's degree. In a Feb. 7 post, Bynes shared a mirror selfie showing herself wearing a California State Polytechnic University, Pomona shirt, hinting that she might be attending the school.

On Dec. 30, Bynes revealed she got the outline of a heart tattooed on her right cheek. Follow-up selfies confirmed it is a permanent face tattoo.

ViacomCBS ANZ VP and Network 10 CEO Paul Anderson Steps Down

Network 10 Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and ViacomCBS Networks Australia & New Zealand (ANZ) Vice President (VP) Paul Anderson has stepped down from his position.

Paul Anderson, left, moved into a bigger remit with ViacomCBS in January

He will not be directly replaced, with Beverley McGarvey promoted to become chief content officer and Executive Vice President (EVP) across combined operations.

Anderson has been with Ten for 17 years and in the CEO role for almost five. He moved into the expanded role with ViacomCBS in January, expanding his position to include the title of executive vice president for ViacomCBS Networks Australia and New Zealand, giving him control over the company’s other TV assets in the region.

The new role included Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Comedy Central and MTV, as well as a range of associated businesses.

Anderson’s promotion followed the merger between Viacom and CBS Corporation which occurred in December 2019. CBS acquired Ten in November 2017. The business is currently in the process of ending its sales relationship with Foxtel Media, with Rod Prosser, Ten’s chief sales officer, to oversee both Ten and ViacomCBS’ sales team. The partnership will end by mid-April.

In a statement, ViacomCBS said it would not be appointing a direct replacement for Anderson, but would appoint ‘co-leads’ for the business. That includes the promotion of McGarvey to chief content officer and executive vice president across the whole business. McGarvey is already the chief content officer for Ten.

Anderson’s resignation is effective immediately, but he has agreed to stay in his role in the interim as the company ‘transitions to a new management’.

ViacomCBS plans to introduce a new management structure for Australia and New Zealand, with the new co-leads reporting to President of VCNI’s operations in Australia and the UK, Maria Kyriacou. The business also ‘reorganised’ its team in January, moving Viacom Australia general manager, Ben Richardson, to report in to Anderson as General Manager (GM), Senior Vice President (SVP), ViacomCBS Pay Networks and Ten business development.

In this restructure, Kyriacou assumed a new position atop the business in the UK and ANZ, with Anderson reporting directly to her. An announcement from ViacomCBS CEO David Lynn at the time said the business was very impressed with Anderson’s work at Ten.

“The progress that Ten has made under Paul’s leadership in strengthening its schedules, rebranding its portfolio and accelerating its streaming strategy has been impressive,” Lynn said.

ViacomCBS is now on the hunt for a co-lead to work alongside McGarvey who will be responsible for all content and creative activities in ANZ. The new co-lead will head up commercial activities and operations.

McGarvey has been appointed as one of the ‘co-leads’ of ViacomCBS and Ten in Australia

In the interim, Henriette Rothschild has been appointed as chief transformation officer. Rothschild is a partner at the advisory and investment firm KordaMentha and brings experience as chief operating officer at iSelect and regional managing director of the global management consulting firm Hay Group.

Regarding the departure, Kyriacou said: “I would like to thank Paul for his leadership of Network Ten; it is a credit to him and his team that the business has continued to compete and evolve despite the inevitable distractions that have come with recent changes in ownership. I’m grateful for the ongoing support he has offered me to help the business transition to a new management team and structure.

“Beverley is an experienced creative leader with a great track record of serving local audiences. She shares my excitement about the extra dimension that ViacomCBS’s ownership can bring to our business in Australia and I’m looking forward to working with her, Henriette and the rest of the senior leadership team to realise those benefits.

“The appointment of Henriette reflects the work we are undertaking to ensure the merged Network Ten and ViacomCBS Australia and New Zealand businesses are well positioned for the future.”

Anderson said: “The past 17 years at Network Ten have been the best years of my professional life. I have worked with some extraordinary people – both in front of and behind the camera – and have been given some amazing opportunities. Now it’s time for me to try something different and eventually look for new opportunities and experiences.

“Thanks to the hard work, passion and professionalism of everyone at Network Ten, and now as part of ViacomCBS, the business is extremely well placed for the future. The combination of Network Ten and ViacomCBS is a real game-changer in the Australian market, creating a unique and powerful media group that owns some of the most innovative entertainment and media brands locally and globally.

“I’m very excited about the future of Network Ten and about what the future holds for me and my family.”

Anderson joined Ten in 2003. He was appointed chief financial officer in 2011 and took on the additional role of chief operating officer in 2014. He was appointed CEO in July 2015.

NickALive! wishes Paul all the best in all his future endeavours.

Simple Things | Hey Arnold! | NickRewind

"Simple Things" from Hey Arnold! might be the most catchy song of all time.

Nick Trivia: Mr. Hyunh's singing voice is provided by American country singer Randy Travis, who guest appears (as a cartoon, but still voiced by Travis) as Travis Randall!

"The Simple Things" lyrics:

You can offer me a diamond-plated pearl.
You can send me all the riches in the world.
You can tempt me with the palaces of kings.
I'd give 'em back in a big ol' sack and keep The Simple Things.

I've got The Simple Things; I've got the rain in spring,
Got spicy chicken wings, and French-fried onion rings.

You can line me up a mile of limousines.
For me it don't add up to a hill o' beans.
I got no hankerin' for grabbin' your brass ring.
It's crystal clear I'll stay right here and keep The Simple Things.

I've got the summer breeze, got sixteen cans of peas.
A two-speed window fan when it's ninety-three degrees.
So forgive me for not grabbin' your brass ring.
It's crystal clear I'll stay right here and keep The Simple Things.
It's crystal clear I'll stay right here and keep The Simple Things.
