Nickelodeon Africa Announces Plans To Host First-Ever NickFest!

Nickelodeon Africa has announced the very exciting news that Nickelodeon is teaming up with Tsogo Sun and the Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital Trust to stage its first ever family-centric festival, "NickFest", in Johannesburg at The Globe at Silverstar on Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th June 2015!


NickFest will thrill kids and parents alike with its unique combination of live music from SA A-listers, character shows and appearances by Nickelodeon superstars SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Packed with fun and interactivity, NickFest promises a fabulous day out for kids of all ages and their families, with designated activities for pre-schoolers, primary school kids, tweens and teens. And of course there'll be lots of Nickelodeon's trademark slime – tons and tons of gooey green stuff...in the awesome Slime Area!

A favourite with SA kids, Nickelodeon currently broadcasts three 24-hour kids channels in SA: Nickelodeon, Nick Jr. and Nicktoons. Nickelodeon consistently ranks as the number one kids and family channel on premium pay-TV in South Africa, thanks to award-winning, ratings-beating programming that puts kids first, including "The Nickelodeon Kids's Choice Awards"*, "SpongeBob SquarePants", "Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn", "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and "The Thundermans". Attracting 170,000 viewers per day, Nickelodeon's viewership is up by 41 percent over the same time last year due to its compelling mix of classic, character-driven shows and a vibrant new programme slate.

During the 2-day festival, NickFest will welcome more than 4,000 kids and families to The Globe, with the site totally transformed into a‎ Nickelodeon wonderland. Two shows will be held on both days at 10:00am and 14:00pm. Details of performers will be released shortly.

In partnership with the Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital Trust, NickFest will also feature The Celebrity Slime Challenge in which well-known celebrities will get doused in slime to raise funds for the charity, which is currently constructing the second paediatric hospital in South Africa, in Parktown, Johannesburg.

The Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital began construction in April 2014, and is targeted to open in the second half of 2016. The Trust continues to fundraise towards its R1 billion target, of which R620 million has been raised. "It is with support and donations from partners such as NickFest, as well as the public that we look forward to Madiba's wish becoming a reality. And we look to the global community to continue supporting this project, which will improve children's health for generations to come,” said Sibongile Mkhabela, CEO of Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital Trust."

Nickelodeon star Isabela Moner has announced the fantastic news on her official Twitter and Instagram profile pages that, following Nick USA debuting the networks award-winning "100 Things To Do Before High School" TV movie special in November 2014, Nickelodeon USA will fully launch their brand-new series, which will introduce Nickelodeon's latest crop of super-star talent, on Saturday 6th June 2015!

"100 Things To Do Before High School" is a brand-new live-action creator-driven comedy-focused series from "Big Time Rush" creator and executive producer Scott Fellows. The half-hour, single-camera series follows three best friends as they navigate the highs and lows of middle school, with the help of a bucket list of adventures that help them overcome class cliques, terrifying bullies and clueless teachers.

The slimiest integrated sports festival is back for the 3rd year – inspired by the SEA Games!

SINGAPORE, 6 MAY 2015– Save the date and get your kids to start stretching those muscles because Downtown East is the place for a day of slimy play – come June! Nickelodeon today announced the return of Singapore's slimiest integrated sports festival – the Nickelodeon Slime Cup 2015. Presented by Singtel TV and sponsored by Pilot Pen, with venue partner, Downtown East, the free-play event continues to promote active living through fun for kids and their families, and this year's edition is augmented with a host of SEA Games (Southeast Asian Games)-inspired activities with Nickelodeon's trademark green slime at Downtown East from Saturday, 6 June to Sunday, 7 June at 11am to 7pm.

Since the inaugural event in 2013, the Nickelodeon Slime Cup in Singapore has seen more than 15,000 kids and their families take part in activities utilising over 16,000 litres of slime. In its third edition this year, kids will now have the opportunity to participate in sports activities featured in the upcoming 28th SEA Games, represented by their favourite Nickelodeon show characters, such as "Soccer Showdown" with SpongeBob SquarePants, "Chip-py Triathlon" with Nickelodeon's newest characters from ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks and "Dora's Tee Party" from Dora and Friends: Into the City!, and "Oggy's Shootout" with Oggy from Oggy and the Cockroaches.


An Opening Ceremony for the Nickelodeon Slime Cup 2015 will be held on Saturday, 6 June at 12pm to kick off this year's slime-tastic games. The ceremony will see Nickelodeon favourites such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star, Dora the Explorer, Diego, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles appearing one after another on one stage, followed by a fun dance and sing-along session. Families will also have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the characters at scheduled meet-and-greet sessions.

The fun family weekend Nickelodeon Slime Cup 2015 event features:

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nickelodeon today announced world-renowned artist KAWS is reimagining SpongeBob SquarePants for the SpongeBob 400 Sprint Cup race on May 9, at the Kansas Speedway. Through this collaboration, KAWS will bring his dynamic, and avant-garde, interpretation of the most absorbing personality on all TV to NASCAR fans across the country. Elements will feature the artist's KAWSBOB character and include a custom 3-ft. trophy and a 70-ft. x 900-ft. mural spanning the track's backstretch.


"I have a great appreciation for the aesthetic of SpongeBob. The character's positive outlook and the shows vibrant colors have inspired me to create several pieces over the years," said KAWS. "The SpongeBob 400 Sprint Cup presented a unique opportunity to bring KAWSBOB to life in a big way. I'm excited to reinterpret this iconic character in several different ways throughout the race and share my appreciation of SpongeBob with NASCAR fans."

On May 9, the world's most famous sponge and his friends will take over the Kansas Speedway and will appear on paint schemes for five NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers: David Ragan in the No. 55 Aarons/SpongeBob SquarePants Toyota Camry; Greg Biffle, cruising down the track in the No. 16 Cheez-It/ Patrick Star Ford Fusion; Casey Mears helming the No. 13 Squidward Tentacles Chevrolet SS; Ty Dillon in the No. 33 Circle Sport Racing/Plankton Chevrolet SS and Michael McDowell, driving the No. 95 WRL/Larry the Lobster Ford Fusion. Additionally, Ben Kennedy will also join in on the fun when he takes out his No. 11 Local Motors/SpongeBob SquarePants Toyota Tundra for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Kansas Speedway on Friday, May 8.

The Nickelodeon Kids Zone will also be set up for kids and families in the Kansas Speedway Fan Zone and will feature appearances from the SpongeBob SquarePants costume characters, a SpongeBob SquarePants photo station and more.

Following Nickelodeon veteran Fred Seibert and actress Tara Strong hinting that Nickelodeon has ordered a tenth season of "The Fairly OddParents", Butch Hartman, the creator of Nick's Emmy Award-winning original animated series (Nicktoon) has further indicated that Nickelodeon may have greenlit a tenth season of "Fairly OddParents"!

In a post on his official Facebook profile page, Facebook.com/Butch.Hartman1, Butch mentions that he recently recorded hilarious stuff with comic actress Cheri Oteri ("Saturday Night Live") on Thursday 7th May 2015! In his post, Butch also shared a fantastic behind-the-scenes photo of Cheri and himself standing in front of a "Fairly OddParents" poster, which teases a new character!:

ATLANTA, May 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Aaron's No. 55 Dream Machine will sport a new look for the May 9 NASCAR Sprint Series race in Kansas City. The car will transform into the No. 55 SpongeBob SquarePants Aaron's Toyota Camry.

The tribute to the popular animated cartoon character is fitting because this year's race at Kansas Speedway has been dubbed the Nickelodeon® SpongeBob SquarePants 400 by NASCAR. The race sponsor, Nickelodeon®, created the television series in 1999 and watched it grow to become the top animated program with children 2-11 for more than 13 consecutive years.

This marks David Ragan's first race driving the No. 55 Aaron's Toyota Camry for Michael Waltrip Racing but for the younger NASCAR fans, Ragan's No. 55 will be the car featuring the pop culture phenomenon SpongeBob SquarePants.

Europe's First Ever SLIME FEST Event A Slime-tastic Sucess

History has been made! Thousands of fans, great music and lots of SLIME came together to make Nickelodeon Spain's (Espana) SLIME FEST 2015, the first-ever Nickelodeon Slime Fest concert to be held in Europe, a slime-tastic success!


Held on Saturday 2nd May 2015 at the Barclaycard Center of Madrid (Palacio de Deportes), Europe's first ever, Nickelodeon Slime Fest featured popular artists, gallons of slime and tons of surprises, plus funky presenters who operated the Slime Cannon! No one was safe from a green and sticky slime shower, not even the artists themselves!

Nickelodeon's four mutant Heroes in a Half-Shell — Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo - had a well deserved day off from crime-fighting to visit fans at SLIME FEST 2015.


Spanish girlband Sweet California opened Nickelodeon Slime Fest 2015 by singing their hit "SpongeBob SquarePants" song, followed by appearances from Calum, Lucy Paradise, Critika & Saik, who took part in Batalla De Cubos De Slime, Dvicio and Xuso Jones, who sang three songs from her new album!

The most emotional moment of the show came when Roko took to the stage to support Nickelodeon and Save the Children's initiative to combat bullying and cyber-bullying.

With so much slime sprayed, Gemeliers closed the show with presenters Johann Wald and Pilar Rubio, who couldn't escape the big slime shower that awaited them at the climax of Nickelodeon Slime Fest!

Nickelodeon Spain's (Espana) will premiere the entire SLIME FEST 2015 live show on Friday 15th May 2015 at 9:00pm!

Nickelodeon Spain has also hinted that they're planning to hold a second annual SLIME FEST event, SLIME FEST 2016, next year!

Santa Monica, Calif. – May 11, 2015 – Three best friends are determined to make the most out of their middle school years using an ever-expanding list of challenges as their guide in Nickelodeon's newest live-action series, 100 Things to Do Before High School, debuting Saturday, June 6, at 8p.m. (ET/PT). The 26-episode series will air regularly on Saturdays at 8p.m. (ET/PT), with each episode available on Nick.com, the Nick App and Nick On Demand one day following its linear TV premiere.

Created by Scott Fellows (Big Time Rush), 100 Things to Do Before High School follows the comedic adventures of 12-year old CJ Martin (Isabela Moner) who always dreamed that high school would be the greatest years of her life. After her older brother warns her that life after middle school is not quite the teenage dream, CJ becomes more committed than ever to strengthen her friendships with her two best friends, Fenwick Frazier (Jaheem Toombs) and Christian "Crispo" Powers (Owen Joyner), before high school ruins their lives forever. Together, they embark on a bucket list of adventures that help them overcome class cliques, terrifying bullies and clueless teachers. For CJ, Fenwick and Crispo growing up means trying everything and taking chances while they still can.

In the series premiere, "Running With the Bears Thing!," the trio set out to conquer each of their biggest fears, and for CJ that means talking to her 8th grade crush. While she plots the perfect scenario for a chance encounter, Crispo must confront his fear of snakes and help Fenwick face his fear of running through the halls with the Pootatuck Bears basketball team. As CJ, Crispo and Fenwick work to move past their phobias, they realize mastering the things on "The List" is always easier with friends by their side.

Scott Fellows created and executive produced Nickelodeon's hit TV series Big Time Rush, Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide and DHX Media's Johnny Test. Previously, he worked as a staff writer for the second, third and fourth seasons of The Fairly OddParents, and received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Music and Lyrics for the show in 2003. Fellows' earlier writing credits also include episodes of Weinerville, U to U, 100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd and Doug.
