Nickelodeon and USAopoly Release Rugrats Monopoly Board Game

Your favorite screwdriver-wielding, playpen-busting, adventure-seeking babies have officially inspired their own board game! That's right, folks: Rugrats Monopoly is now a thing, and many '90s-obsessed hearts are practically bursting with nostalgia!


If at first glance you assumed that this game is like regular Monopoly, only with a few thematic images, you'd be very wrong. The folks at Hasbro and Nickelodeon went all out of this iteration of the game.

This new version of ever-popular Monopoly is completely inspired by the iconic Nickelodeon animated series. The board itself features an adorable illustration of Tommy Pickles, Chuckie Finster and Angelica Pickles smack-dab in the middle, and there are six metal game pieces to choose from, including Spike, the Pickle's family dog; Reptar, the infamous T.Rex; Cynthia, Angelica's doll with sparse and semi-electrocuted hair; the beloved screw driver that Tommy always had in his diaper to get the babies in and out of the play pen; Chuckie's glasses; and the rubber ducky that Phil and Lil had embellished on their outfits. Instead of regular ol' houses and hotels, players can build up their properties with baby gates and playhouses, which are purchased with paper Reptar Bars — it's serious crawl down memory lane!

Currency in the game is made of Reptar bars, and with it you can stock up on baby gates and playhouses in lieu of homes and hotels. But perhaps what's most charming about this revival and tribute board are the figurines.

A baby's gotta do what a baby's gotta do, and a baby's gotta play this game!

Rochester Americans and Cleveland Monsters to Don 'Ninja Turtles' Themed Jerseys for 'Nickelodeon Nights'

ROCHESTER, NY - Professional ice hockey team Rochester Americans, in conjunction with the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters, have announced a special two-game home-and-home series of Nickelodeon Nights featuring the Nickelodeon's iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! COWABUNGA!


The promotional nights will take place in both Cleveland and Rochester with both teams hosting Nickelodeon Nights within their respective home arenas over the course of the season. The Cleveland Monsters, who will host the first event at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio on Wednesday, Dec. 26, will wear Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-themed jerseys while the Amerks will sport sweaters inspired by the Foot Clan, the primary antagonist and arch enemy of Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo throughout the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise.

The North Division rivals will wear the same themed jerseys again on Friday, March 22, 2019 when the Amerks host the Monsters at The Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, New York.


The Foot Clan jerseys the Amerks will be wearing will be available for purchase through a silent auction held during the game in Rochester on the upper concourse of The Blue Cross Arena. Following the game, the winners of the auction will be able to take the ice and be presented with a “jersey off the back” from the Amerks players.

Individual game tickets for the 2018-19 season start at just $14. Amerks 2018-19 Flex Memberships are available starting as low as $17 per ticket, are on-sale now. SpongeBob, Sandy and their “Science Scout” troop take a trip to the moon in a brand-new holiday special of SpongeBob SquarePants, premiering Sunday, Nov. 25, at 11:00 a.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.

In “SpaceBob MerryPants,” Sandy leads the scouts through space for scientific exploration, where SpongeBob finds life exists in the form of a krabby patty, Sandy studies the moon’s gravitational effect on nuts and Squidward goes to the dark side. After an explosive mishap with a Jack-in-the-Box, the troop is left in an astronomical situation, where they luckily find the one person who can help them out, the big man himself…Santa Claus!


Actor and producer, Lewis Black (Inside Out), lends his voice as Santa Claus, who teaches SpongeBob and friends that working together and thinking outside the box can help solve any problem.



SpongeBob fans can also check out the new weekly digital short-form series Bikini Bottom Mysteries, which explores the secrets, scandals, and unsolved mysteries of SpongeBob SquarePants with a new episode every Tuesday on Facebook Watch and YouTube. Produced by Viacom Digital Studios for the fans who grew up watching SpongeBob SquarePants, the seven-episode series takes a closer look at some of the fishier characters in Bikini Bottom like Frank the Fish, Purple Doctor Fish, Harold, Mable and more.

Bikini Bottom Mysteries is the latest of several brand-new shows to debut from Viacom Digital Studios, including: The JoJo & BowBow Show Show; SlimeZone VR Showdown; Nick Trip; and Super League Gaming Minecraft City Champs.

In the course of history, it has become clear that all people are born with certain inalienable rights, among them life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. However, these rights haven't always applied to kids.

On Thursday 7th June 1990, as part of the opening of Nickelodeon Studios at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids, unveiled "Nickelodeon's Declaration of Kids' Rights", a important document, below, inspired by the USA's Bill of Rights that proclaims to the world that kids have rights, too!:

In the course of history, it has become pretty clear that all people are born with certain inalienable rights; among them life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. But these rights haven't always applied to kids.

And that stinks!

Now, 200 years after the creation of America's Bill of Rights, this declaration proclaims to the world that you have rights too:

You have the right to be seen, heard and respected as a citizen of the world.

You have the right to a world that's peaceful and an environment that's not spoiled.

You have the right to be treated with equality; regardless of race, religion, nationality, sex, personality, grades or size.

You have the right to make mistakes without someone making you feel like a jerkhead.

You have the right to be protected from harm, injustice and hatred.

You have the right to an education that prepares you to run the world when it's your turn.

You have the right to your opinions and feelings, even if others don't agree with them.

So there!

Nickelodeon's Declaration of Kids' Rights transforms America's traditional Bill of Rights into something potent and meaningful for kids. It uses language that doesn't patronize kids, but empowers them.

To uphold "Nickelodeon's Declaration of Kids' Rights", Nickelodeon also took the following oath:

Paramount & Nickelodeon Release New 'Wonder Park' Trailer

Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies have released the first full theatrical trailer for their upcoming animated family-friendly film, Wonder Park, providing an expansive look at the fantasy theme park, as well as a first-look at the A-list voice cast!



When the park of her dreams needs saving, only June’s imagination can bring it back to life.

A tribute to creativity, Wonder Park tells the story of 10-year-old June, a wildly imaginative young girl who builds models of amusements parks with her mother. When June gets older, she starts to lose her sense of wonder and begins to shun her childhood ideas, including the idea of the park, packing away her models away. Nevertheless, her childhood catches up with her!


One day whilst exploring deep in the woods, in a magical moment, she discovers a roller coaster car buried under ivy. It transports her to a fantastical wonder park, like the ones she used to build, populated by animals who were its past employees. But the park is broken down, abandoned and in a state of decay.

June soon rediscovers the wonder of her world, and teams up with a whole host of talking animals to restore the park to its full glory, complete with spinning contraptions and inverting roller coasters, all whilst contending with a invasion of a army of cheeky chimpanzombies looking to stir up all kinds of destructive mischief.

The UK audio track of the movie features mostly the same voice talent, with a few changes: Iconic British voice talent Tom Baker (Doctor Who, Little Britain, Monarch on the Glen) will voice Boomer the Bear and YouTube sensations Joe Sugg and Caspar Lee will voice beavers Gus and Cooper!

The PG-rated film is written by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows) from a story by Applebaum (Origin), Nemec (Knightfall), and Robert Gordon (Galaxy Quest). Appelbaum, Nemec, and Kendra Haaland serve as producers, with Karen Rosenfelt and Don Hahn executive producing. The movie is being produced by Paramount Animation, Nickelodeon Movies and Ilion Animation Studios. A director has yet to be announced for the movie.

Wonder Park is scheduled to roll into theaters on Friday, March 15, 2019. An animated television series based on the film will also debut on Nickelodeon in 2019.

Funrise, Inc. will serve as the worldwide master toy partner for the franchise.


The movie was formally titled Amusement Park.

Pia Miller Joins Cast of Paramount’s Live-Action ‘Dora the Explorer’ Movie

Australian actor Pia Miller has closed a deal to join Paramount Players' live-action feature based Nickelodeon's beloved preschool series Dora the Explorer! Pia, best known for portraying Katarina Chapman in the hit Australian soap opera Home and Away, will portray Dora's aunt Mami in the movie, which has already finished filming on the Gold Coast of Australia.


Dora the Explorer will tell the story of Dora, a girl who has spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents, but now must navigate her most dangerous adventure yet: high school. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego, and a rag tag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost Inca civilization.

Miller joins Isabela Moner (100 Things to Do Before High School, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Transformers: The Last Knight, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Instant Family), who portrays the teen adventurer; Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives, Overboard) and Michael Peña, who play the parents of the titular character; Eugenio Derbez (Overboard, Instructions Not Included; How to Be A Latin Lover), who plays Alejandro, a mysterious jungle inhabitant who tries to protect the teenagers from the marauders; Jeffrey Wahlberg (Future World, Ballers, Counterpart, Reefa) in the role of cousin Diego; Nicholas Coombe (Spy Kids: Mission Control, Midnight Sun) as Randy, a fellow high schooler who develops an immediate crush on Dora; Madeleine Madden (Picnic at Hanging Rock, Tidelands) as the school’s snooty class president, Sammy; and Academy Award nominee Adriana Barraza (Babel, Amores Perros, Thor, The 33) as Dora’s grandma, Abuelita Valerie; Temuera Morrison (Green Lantern, Moana), who will play the role of Powell; Q’orianka Kilcher (The Alienist), will play Inca Princess Kawillaka; and Madelyn Miranda, who portrays Young Dora.

Prior to Home & Away, Logie nominee Miller, 35, starred in the movie Big Mamma's Boy, as well as parts in TV series such as East West 101, Neighbours, Wonderland, and Bite Club, in which she garnered great acclaim, and in the short, The Deal. Miller also portrayed her Home and Away character in An Eye for an Eye, a TV movie inspired by the soap. Dora the Explorer is Miller's first Hollywood role.

Pia is a mum to two boys, Isaiah, 16, and Lennox, 12, who she shares with her ex, former football player Brad Miller, 35.

As well as her acting and parenting skills, the mum-of-two is known for being outspoken in matters she is passionate about. Pia has previously opened up about body confidence and admitted she too has insecurities about her body.

Dora the Explorer is produced by Christopher Robin producer Kristin Burr, who is joined by longtime Bobin associate, executive producer John G. Scotti (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted, Alice Through the Looking Glass) as well as executive producers Julia Pistor (The Spiderwick Chronicles, A Series of Unfortunate Events) and Eugenio Derbez.


Bobin has assembled a talented team behind the camera that also includes reunions with Oscar®-winning production designer Dan Hennah (Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, Alice Through the Looking Glass) and costume designer Rahel Afiley (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted, Flight of the Conchords). The pair will be joined by six-time Goya Award winning (and BAFTA nominated) cinematographer Javier Aguirresarobe, A.S.C. Dora the Explorer recently wrapped filming in Australia’s Gold Coast, in the state of Queensland on the continent’s east coast south of Brisbane. Village Roadshow Studios, where the production is headquartered, has been host to several major Hollywood movies in the last few years, including The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Shallows, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok and, most recently, DC’s Aquaman. In addition to designer Hennah’s stage builds, the production is utilizing Queensland’s diverse landscape, notably tropical forests near Tamborine Mountain and Tallebudgera, to portray Dora’s jungle habitat.

Dora the Explorer is a Paramount Players and Nickelodeon production in association with Walden Media. The film is being supported by the Queensland Government via Screenland Queensland. Paramount will release the film on August 2, 2019.

Dear Friends and Shareholders,

Yesterday morning we held a conference call to discuss the early ratings performance of Rainbow Rangers on Nickelodeon and the transformational impact we foresee it having on the revenues and earnings of Genius Brands International. There is nothing more important on our immediate agenda.

Before doing so, we took a moment to share some highlights from our recently released 10Q statement, which went out last Wednesday November 14 for the Q3 period ending September 30, 2018.

Revenues for the three-month period increased 103% to $523,175, versus the same period in 2017. Licensing revenues increased by $116,245 due to advances for both Llama Llama and Rainbow Rangers during this period.

Kid Genius Network broadcasting revenues increased by $108,619 due largely to increased revenues from Twitch and Amazon Prime subscribers beginning to grow.

Home Entertainment revenues went up by $41,516 due to the Llama Llama delivery to our home entertainment partner NCircle.

Total expense during the period increased by $353,951 largely due to ramped up production, and that ramp up of production will continue as we have already been contracted with Netflix to do a second season of Llama Llama and additionally, our expectation to shortly begin a second season of Rainbow Rangers.

More details across all areas are in the 10Q, but there is a now a trend emerging of a company with growing revenues across all of its key sectors.

Having said the above, without further ado, I want to get to Rainbow Rangers.

Last week on Monday, November 5, Genius Brands’ new animated series Rainbow Rangers began broadcasting on Nickelodeon’s preschool channel Nick Jr.  It has been the culmination of four years of work, which began with key retailers telling us they foresaw both a vacuum and an opportunity in girl’s preschool products in 2019.  As many of our investors know, we went about recruiting a unique team of the strongest creators in the kid’s entertainment industry. They included the director of Disney’s Lion King, the co-writer of Disney’s Frozen, and the character designer of virtually every Disney character from The Little Mermaid through Frozen. Alongside them, we built the best animation team I have been a part of in my three decades in this business, having produced over 5,000 half hours of Emmy and award-winning animation, which has included numerous billion-dollar brands such as Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Hello Kitty, Inspector Gadget, Super Mario Brothers, Sonic the Hedgehog, Ghostbusters, and others. The Rainbow Rangers’ team includes the most accomplished writers, musicians, voice artists and animators.  We presented the series to Nickelodeon and were fortunate that they licensed it, and subsequently, upon seeing scripts and first episodes, they placed it in their coveted 3pm Monday through Friday timeslot on Nick Jr. Through the efforts of our licensing team, led by SVP of Global Licensing Lloyd Mintz, who was the former head of consumer products licensing for Hasbro Toys, and prior to that part of the licensing unit of the  Walt Disney Company, we secured an exceptional lineup of consumer product manufacturers, recognized as the tiffany licensees in the industry, almost all of whom are 1st tier Disney licensees and the leaders in their respective category.  Beginning in July and August in 2019, we will launch the U.S. retail program for Rainbow Rangers with over 300 branded products debuting across all categories of kid’s consumer products. Master Toy partner Mattel will premiere a range of toys, including collectible dolls, 3-inch dolls, 6-inch dolls, traditional fashion dolls, role play items, and a playset. Other product categories from the roster of blue-chip partners include apparel, publishing, sleepwear, bedding and bath, footwear, bags and backpacks, Halloween costumes and accessories, youth consumer electronics, health and beauty aids, cosmetics, bicycles and ride-ons, and a Rainbow Rangers live touring show from the Gershwin Company, producers of the Charlie Brown touring show and the Sesame Street touring show.

I am ecstatic to report that we have now received ratings from the first week of broadcast.  They are the earliest indicators of Rainbow Rangers’ success, and they have been very, very strong.   We have verified these with Shelly Hirsch, CEO of Beacon Media, the largest advertising buyer in the kid’s business, and based on them for the first week, Rainbow Rangers showed a number of very strong metrics.

The first and most important metric looked for is whether a show is able to retain the audience of its lead-in show. In our case, the lead-in show is Shimmer and Shine, an established Nickelodeon franchise playing in the 2:30-3pm time slot.

Based on Nielsen ratings for the week of Monday, November 5 - Monday, November 11, Rainbow Rangers retained and grew its audience from its lead in show, against all demos, all genders, and on all days of its first week of broadcast.

Separately, the margin by which Rainbow Rangers grew its audience from its lead in, increased daily.

By Friday, Rainbow Rangers had showed 153% growth coming out of its lead-in show, against its key target demo of Girls 2-5.

In what has been a declining market, Rainbow Rangers increased Nick Jr’s season average by 15%, and additionally, it outperformed Nick Jr’s prior premiere week programming by 21%. This was all the more impressive, in light of the fact that Tuesday was an election day and kid’s viewing was down overall that day because an inordinate amount of adult viewing occurred watching election coverage.  Wednesday kid’s numbers bounced back and continued to grow the rest of the week.


After reviewing data from the first two days of broadcast on Nick Jr., Nickelodeon informed us they had added encore plays of Rainbow Rangers on Sat 11/10 at 6:30p (lead-in Bubble Guppies) and Sun 11/11 at 7:30p (lead-in Shimmer and Shine) to build further awareness for the show, and sample it in new timeslots, alongside various shows.

Paw Patrol is the juggernaut on the Nick schedule, and while we did not beat Paw Patrol for the weekly average, I should point out that it is a boy’s property, not a girl’s one, and has an audience curated over a five-year history, and had 41 broadcasts on Nick Jr. over the week versus the seven for Rainbow Rangers.  Paw Patrol is a ‘mission based’ show with a number of creative similarities to Rainbow Rangers, and in fact, Rainbow Rangers is now frequently referred to by the licensing community, as the “Paw Patrol for girls”. The comparison is flattering indeed.  Paw Patrol is a franchise whose toys and consumer products did over $1 billion-dollars of sales this last year and have propelled its owners, SpinMaster toys to a $5 billion-dollar market cap.   As Paw Patrol becomes a ‘mature property and is now peaking, we believe that Rainbow Rangers is positioned to become the next big hit.

The Rainbow Rangers trend line is strong.  Especially so for a show in its 1st week.  The momentum of growth through the week is a very positive sign. The kids are sampling--they like the show--and they are coming back greater each day. And, just as Paw Patrol indexed inordinately high with girls, Rainbow Rangers is indexing inordinately high for boys, both 2-5 and 6-11.

What does all this mean???

We are starting to get a picture of an emerging hit.

What is the importance of this to Genius Brands, our revenues, our earnings, and ultimately our stock price?

It is the basic connection between viewership and consumer products.  A kid’s show, which draws viewers, also sells licensed consumer products to kids.  Years of industry experience indicates that a hit show typically sells a lot of consumer products.

As I said, Paw Patrol sells over a billion dollars a year of product now and has turned SpinMaster from a small toy company into a $5 billion-dollar market cap enterprise, in a relatively short time.
At Genius Brands, we have meticulously curated the very best licensees in the industry place.  Starting as I said, with Mattel Toys to every possible category of kid’s product. Over 300 SKUs are poised and standing ready to be introduced into the marketplace in Q3, 2019.  We continue to sign new licensees and expand the various product offerings.  The average royalty across all our product licenses is 10%, which means, that the company is paid a 10% royalty on all wholesale sales.  I underscore this is without inventory risk, without manufacturing or marketing costs, or costs of any kind associated with the products.

I should add on a personal note that, those of us inside Genius Brands who have worked on Rainbow Rangers now for the better part of four years from conception to marketplace, take pride that we also have a property ,which is not only showing the signs of a looming commercial success, but one grounded in positive values and positive story telling for kids.  Rainbow Rangers follows the adventures of seven strong, diverse, girls with different powers, who use those powers to save the planet and its animals. The messaging is as positive as the nascent ratings success.

Both of these will inure to the commercial success and the impact on our company’s revenues and earnings.

It would be harder to deliver better news at this point.  As weekly ratings continue to come in, we will continue to share them with our shareholders.

Lastly, we also spoke a little about the untimely passing last week, of the great Stan Lee, creator (and/or co-creator) of Spider Man, Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, X Men, Fantastic 4, the Avengers, Captain America, and so many more.   People have reached out to ask how this will affect us at Genius Brands, knowing we have a joint venture with Stan called Stan Lee Comics, and together, with Stan’s company POW! Entertainment, we created half a dozen original Stan Lee properties. These properties are managed by Genius Brands now, which together with his company, and we own them jointly, 50/50.

Each property has Stan Lee’s unique fingerprint, as the creator. They already exist now and are in our Genius Brands’ ‘vault’. In one property particular, Stan Lee’s Cosmic Crusaders, he plays himself in animation, and it is the only Stan Lee property in which he actually plays a role as himself.   Fortunately, Stan had already recorded the voices of his character, prior to his passing.

So, with the sadness of Stan Lee’s passing, I can proudly state that his legacy will live on with his latest creations, which now Genius Brands will bring in to the marketplace.  We are blessed to have worked so closely with him, and now having these properties, is like having suddenly discovered 6 songs written by John Lennon that had never been brought to the marketplace. They are valuable assets, and at Genius Brands, we are fortunate to now be the steward of this precious original Stan Lee Intellectual Property.  Genius Brands will diligently roll these into the marketplace, and we believe they will bring continuing value to the company as they are broadcast and exploited across all media and consumer licensing.  A number of broadcasters and filmmakers have already contacted us, and we look forward to bringing them to life.
