Kirkcaldy skater Tony Hoggan has been nominated for a top award.

The 12-year-old schoolboy has been put forward for the title of best under 16 skater in the UK as part of the Nickelodeon Fruitshoot skills awards.

The award ceremony is being held at the O2 Arena in London on Saturday, September 7, and will be live on Nickelodeon TV, hosted by Olympic diver Tom Daly.

The winner will be decided by online voting, and Tony is the only Scot among the four skaters nominated.

Tony is hoping that the Fife public [has helped] him win the title by voting for him at http://fruitshoot.nick.co.uk/upload-your-skills-video/vote/. Voting [ended] Saturday [31st August 2013].

Tony has been skating since the age of eight and is competing in national competitions. He has already caught the eye of Brian Aragon, the 2009 world champion, who has posted a video of Tony on his Facebook page.

Tony’s skating career was also given a boost in January when he secured sponsorship from Prolinekates.com, the UK’s biggest skateshop located in Cardiff, to add to his skatepark sponsor, Unit 23 Skatepark in Dumbarton.

He was also featured in an article in the Bleach Collective action sports magazine’s first issue, based in the north of Engalnd, that was published in July.
