Hotel asume agenda para mantener limpio el medio ambiente

Los zafacones recolectores de desperdicios clasifican los desechos.

A nueve kilómetros de la playa Macao en la región este de República Domini­cana, precisamente en la carretera Uvero Alto Par­cela de Punta Cana, se en­cuentra el Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts, un com­plejo temático cinco es­trellas que en los últimos años ha priorizado en sus operaciones los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS).

Cada cierto tiempo es­te hotel realiza activida­des de limpieza de playa, siembra de árboles, jor­nadas y competencias de reciclajes y una de sus no­vedades es que ha cons­truido paneles solares, además de que se ha en­focado en ofrecer talleres a sus colaboradores sobre el manejo de residuos só­lidos.

En una visita de Listín Diario al hotel, sus autori­dades compartieron que también imparten una capacitación que lleva por nombre “Pasión por la Sustentabilidad” con miras a la prosperidad medioambiental.

Cada departamen­to que forma parte del Nickelodeon tiene ór­denes de cumplir con los lineamientos de sos­tenibilidad, los cuales cada mes son medidos a través de indicado­res, según explicó Elia­na Flaquer Quiñónez, coordinadora de perso­nal, quien destaca que los colaboradores tie­nen metas relacionadas al ahorro de energía y agua.

Un objetivo de desarro­llo sostenible prioritario para este hotel es el mane­jo de los desechos a través del reciclaje, por lo que se  fomenta el reciclar, rehu­sar y ahorrar lo más que se pueda.
 
Flaquer Quiñónez agre­ga que el complejo turís­tico tiene un contrato con una compañía de mane­jo residuos sostenible que opera en Punta Cana y Bávaro.

Por tipo de residuos

Los residuos inorgánicos co­mo papel, cartón, plásticos, vidrio, metal, madera y telas, y los residuos orgánicos, co­mo los restos de comida, son todos los que diariamente se reciclan en Nickelodeon.

La empresa de solucio­nes ambientales contrata­da realiza aquí sus funcio­nes de recolección una vez a la semana y luego dispone una “efectiva final y nueva vida” a esos desechos.

“Ellos vienen e incluso es­tá todo separado, lo plásti­co en lo plástico”, comenta Flaquer Quiñónez.

Cada colaborador del Nickelodeon tiene un siste­ma de reciclaje dependien­do de su área de trabajo.

“En las oficinas normal­mente lo que se recicla es papel, entonces hay una pa­pelera donde cada emplea­do de los diferentes departa­mentos va y hecha. Aquí el papel no se destruye, se reci­cla”, expresa Flaquer Quiñó­nez.

María Lamarche de Nickelodeon Punta Cana “Esperamos muy buenas ocupaciones para esta temporada de invierno”

Punta Cana, R. Dominicana.- Desde su reaperura del pasado 5 de noviembre, el Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana, viene recuperando sus ocupaciones con ofertas, nuevas propuestas de entretenimiento personalizado y un servicio de calidad que permite ser optimista para esta temporada alta de invierno.

«Tenemos muy buenas expectativas para este mes de diciembre y para todo el invierno, vemos cómo de a poco nuestros clientes van reservando sus estadías tanto para las fiestas de navidad, fin de años o vacaciones en familia”, por lo que estimamos que “tendremos muy buenas ocupaciones esta temporada de invierno”, dijo María Lamarche, Directora General de Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana.

“Estamos confiados que para los primeros meses del 2021 tendremos novedades del Sensatori”, “tenemos bastantes reservas en espera y una muy buena perspectiva para el año que entra”, “los viajeros están con ansias de viajar a destinos cómo el nuestro y estamos seguros que en cuanto autoricen los vuelos estaremos listos para recibir a estos clientes”, confió Lemarche en un encuentro con los principales medios de comunicación del ámbito turístico del país, en el marco de un presstrip realizado el pasado fin de semana y que fue coordinando por Markatel Comunicaciones.

La temporada de invierno es la punta de lanza de la recuperación del turismo en cuanto a ocupación hotelera se refiere en el país, cumpliendo con la capacidad establecida por las autoridades y con los protocolos.

Por ello, desde la apertura del sector y hasta la fecha, las diferentes marcas hoteleras han tenido buenas expectativas con las reservas para el invierno, como tal es el caso de Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana, establecimiento de hospedaje temático que cuenta con nuevas propuestas de entretenimiento familiar y que busca captar mas turistas a finales de año.

Maria Lamarche, gerente general de Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana, dijo que “tenemos muy buenas expectativas para el invierno en general y todo el mes de diciembre, pues nos hemos mantenido, desde la apertura el 5 de noviembre, en un 25% de ocupación, pero desde el 27 en adelante estamos en un 30% de ocupación que es un buen síntoma porque se ha ido incrementando en los últimos días”.

Manifestó que el incremento es bueno porque las reservas antes de la apertura, en octubre, habían estado estáticas y todo ha dependido del comportamiento en las alertas de la pandemia internacionales.

“La buena noticia de las vacunas ha tenido un impacto muy positivo en los turistas que si no planean sus vacaciones para el mes de diciembre si repercutira en una buena ocupación a principios del año 2021”, agregó.

En continuidad Lamarche dijo que “El Gobierno dominicano informó en su momento que se debía tener un 60% en la ocupación, pero han relajado un poco la medida y de acuerdo al ultimo protocolo ese dictamen lo va a ir indicando la alerta sanitaria del país”, dijo.

En cuanto a los destinos que propiciaran el estado ocupacional de Nickelodeon la directiva indicó que será tanto nacional como internacional (estadounidense, Latinoamericano y canadiense).

“Al momento para fin de año tendremos una ocupación de un 50/50 del mercado local e internacional, pero el pronostico que tenemos es que el mercado de Estados Unidos LatinoAmérica y Canadá sean los opten por nuestras instalaciones”, enfatizó.

Al tiempo explicó que “Los fines de semana se mantiene un mix en la ocupación entre el mercado local y extranjero, pero en los días de semana existe una ocupación mas internacional, pero el repunte que tenemos los fines de semana es gracias al mercado local, pues tras la reapertura el pasado 5 de noviembre, un fin de semana largo, el hotel estuvo a un 100% de ocupación en cuento al total permitido”.

Se recuerda que Nickelodeon Punta Cana cuenta con 208 suites de gran tamaño y siete estilos distintos, diseñadas para atender a una amplia variedad de gustos, incluidas las premiadas Swim-Up Suites, por lo que la propiedad cuenta con el apoyo de 200 empleados que suplen las necesidades de la demanda que actualmente suplen. “Este personal es de aproximadamente 580 del total de la nomina”.

El hotel temático, que cuenta con 463 habitaciones, aprovechó su reapertura para presentar variadas y divertidas propuestas para celebraciones, cumpleaños, aniversarios y eventos diversos sociales, completamente personalizados y acompañados de los afamados personajes de Nickelodeon.

De acuerdo con ejecutivos del hotel, estos entretenidos paquetes para festividades han sido diseñados de forma segura, brindando experiencias de lujo a clientes de todas las edades, desde divertidos desayunos con los personajes favoritos hasta exquisitas cenas bajo el concepto Gourmet Inclusive.

En ese sentido, Jorge Féliz Germán, presidente de Karisma Hotels & Resorts para República Dominicana, expresa que “muchas familias actualmente desean compartir de forma segura y diferente sus celebraciones, cumpleaños o aniversarios, y Nickelodeon Hotels& Resorts es el lugar preferido para ello.

Igualmente, como parte de la experiencia Nickelodeon, todos los personajes del canal de televisión acompañan al festejado en su celebración, la cual incluye desde delicias culinarias, bizcocho temático, fotos y recuerdos especiales, entre múltiples opciones.

Una de las atracciones únicas y exclusivas para los cumpleaños es la Villa Piña, la famosa casa de Bob Esponja en la calle La Concha, donde el huésped y sus invitados viven una aventura única.

María Lamarche, gerente general del complejo hotelero, manifestó tener muy buenas expectativas para el invierno en general y todo el mes de diciembre, “pues nos hemos mantenido, desde la apertura el 5 de noviembre, en un 25% de ocupación, pero desde el 27 noviembre en adelante estamos en un 30% de ocupación que es un buen síntoma porque se ha ido incrementando en los últimos días”.

Expresó que todo marcha a un ritmo aceptable, porque las reservas antes de la apertura, en octubre, habían estado estáticas y todo ha dependido del comportamiento en las alertas de la pandemia internacional.

“La buena noticia de las vacunas ha tenido un impacto muy positivo en los turistas que si no planean sus vacaciones para el mes de diciembre sí repercutirá en una buena ocupación a principios del año 2021”, agregó.

El COVID-19 ha dado gran­des golpes al sector turístico nacional, y el resort Nickelo­deon Hotels & Resorts Pun­ta Cana que pertenece a Ka­risma, tuvo que cerrar sus puertas, como todos los de la zona.

Pero el pasado 5 de noviembre, re­abrió sus puertas bajo la nueva moda­lidad pandémica y desde entonces ha transformado sus procesos. Ahora, se muestran cambios en la llegada y la es­tadía de sus clientes, en las comidas y en el sano disfrute vacacional.

La experiencia

Un equipo de periodistas del Listín Diario vivimos la experiencia. En la en­trada al complejo estaba Yulissa, una de los agentes de seguridad que se en­contraba esa mañana dando una ojeada tranquila al periódico con su pro­tector facial y su mascarilla. No había visto el minibús blanco, pero segun­dos después descrubrió a su izquier­da, la presencia colectiva y dijo “¿Us­tedes son del Listín?”.

Luego de un repaso de nombres y una llamada a la central por Yulissa, por los extremos de las ventanillas del autobús se alcanzaban a ver unas pancartas con infografías haciendo llamados de atención por la pande­mia, junto al letrero naranja de Nic­kelodeon colocado a manera de bien­venida.

Mientras el grupo se desmontaba cumpliendo los protocolos de sani­dad, Edwin, el jefe de mayordomos del hotel, realizaba el proceso de sa­nitización del equipaje con un nebu­lizador.

La llegada

Mientras ingresábamos en la recep­ción Daniela y Jessy, entre risas, bo­tellas de agua y toallas húmedas desin­fectantes nos daban la bienvenida.

El piso marmolizado del elegante lo­bby era tan brillante que devolvía el re­flejo de los allí presentes. Unas señali­zaciones pegadas en el piso, indicaban respetar el distanciamiento.

En un sitio privilegiado del lobby relucía una pantalla con información adicional sobre el Covid-19. Su título: “Covid-19, lo que debes saber y lo que debes hacer”.

Los carritos blancos de transporte interno se desinfestaban antes de ser usados. Los pasajeros hacían fila en el lobby para registrar su llegada, mien­tras que otros esperaban turno en los cómodos sillones naranjas y amarillos, colores temáticos de Nickelodeon.

En ese momento, Bob Esponja, uno de sus reconocidos personajes, apare­ció con sus habituales saludos y fotos de bienvenida, respetando las medidas de distanciamiento.

Entre los procesos del check-in, ha­bía que depositar las cédulas persona­les en una bandeja para evitar tener contacto con los empleados de la re­cepción. El formulario incluía una de­claración de síntomas de enfermeda­des respiratorias agudas; los lapiceros del llenado estaban esterilizados den­tro de su plástico. Luego había que de­volver los bolígrafos para higienizar­los. La temperatura corporal de cada uno se tomaba con un termómetro in­frarrojo.

Tras este proceso, el equipo del Lis­tín Diario fue invitado a desayunar en el restaurante Sugarcane, un espacio inspirado en los mercados tradiciona­les de Latinoamérica.

Las autoridades del hotel sólo man­tenían abiertos dos de los seis restau­rantes del complejo turístico debido a la pandemia.

Junto al Sugarcane operaba tam­bién el restaurante Zest con platos de cocina mundial, la cafetería Doppio, y uno de los principales bares abier­tos era el Jazmin Swin-up Bar & Deck frente a la piscina y a pocos metros de la playa.

Algunos restaurantes

Después del desayuno, el equipo del Listín visitó los restaurantes, conecta­dos todos en cadena circular. El cono­cido como Kitchen 23 by Le Chique, (cerrado), y Verdello, que en su entra­da mostraba una pared con gavetas de distintos tamaños y colores, era otro  en iguales condiciones. Un em­papelado en su techo anunciaba la especialidad del lugar: la pas­ta. Además, resplandecían fotos de famosos disfrutando de espa­guettis, entre ellos, la famosa ac­triz italiana Sofía Loren.

De ahí cruzamos a Spa­cewalker, un sitio que brinda una experiencia interestelar. Simula una nave espacial de color blanco en su interior, junto a los efectos especiales de luces, humo y soni­do. Como si fuera poco, tiene es­pejuelos pegados a la pared con imágenes del espacio exterior. Uno de ellos refleja la inmensa os­curidad del firmamento y el pe­queño planeta Tierra observado desde arriba, lo que incrementa­ba aún más esa sensación. Por el traje de astronauta colgado en el fondo del pasillo principal, los tu­ristas se transportan al 20 de julio de 1969, junto a la misión norte­americana del Apolo 11, fecha del primer viaje a la Luna, con el co­mandante Neil Armstrong.

Otro restaurante, es el BRGRS.PH, una especie de foodtruck al estilo estadounidense donde se preparan hamburguesas artesa­nales . Un gigantesco camión sir­ve de cocina. Es muy reconocido por elaborar la “Machete Burger”, pieza que se parte con un mache­te y da para comer ocho personas. El restaurante da una impresión desértica como del viejo oeste, posee artefactos antiguos del ar­caico Texas de Estados Unidos, y su refrigerador está diseñado al estilo de los años 60.

La última parada fue en el res­taurante Wok Wok, de comida asiática. Los cocineros se obser­van a través de un cristal. La ma­dera oscura, el olor a sushi, las ca­denas metálicas plateadas hacen que las personas conecten con el aquel continente.

Para entrar a estos restaurantes (hoy cerrados al público), había que seguir el indicado protocolo sanitario, la medición de la tem­peratura corporal, el uso de alco­hol o gel antibacterial y la limpie­za del calzado en las alfombras.

En los restaurantes abiertos ha­bía un cambio significativo en el servicio de la comida.

Los que permanecen abiertos

Los restaurantes que permanecen abiertos tienen unas lianas entre las zonas de comida y los turistas como especie de línea divisoria. Nadie puede service por sí mismo ni pasar por el área de alimentos si no es acompañado por camare­ros.

Nickelodeon Place

Si en el momento de nuestro reco­rrido el hotel lucía con poca pre­sencia de turistas era debido a que los huéspedes se hallaban concen­trados en el atractivo Nickelodeon Place y otros en la playa.

Muchos niños disfrutaban las atracciones del Aqua Nick, un es­pacio con inmensos toboganes, y el río perezoso, mientras sus pa­dres tomaban el sol y los vigilaban.

También corrían en el “Just Kiddin”, un sitio donde juegan con actividades y personajes de Nicke­lodeon.

Además estaba abierto el “Nick Knacks”, una tienda especializada en la venta de películas de Nicke­lodeon, ropa, juguetes, artículos esenciales de vacaciones y re­cuerdos.

The Pineapple

En el recorrido, visitamos “The Pineapple”, una villa inspirada en la famosa piña debajo del mar del personaje Bob Esponja, que que­da en el número 124 de Conch Street. Esta original villa de dos niveles es la única en el hotel. Su interior está inspirado en la serie del mar “Fondo de Bikini”.

Caminando otras zonas

En un gimnasio de amplias di­mensiones, solo se escuchaba la música alta, y Noel su entrena aguardaba por la llegada de los huéspedes aficionados al ejerci­cio físico. En sus modernas má­quinas solo se permitía el turno a ocho personas a la vez, con pre­via reservación. Era una medida preventiva.

Estaba el Vassa Spa, un espacio de relajación que podía conside­rarse como “el paraíso del Nick”. Esta última zona expiraba un aro­ma suave a favor del relajamien­to en la sauna herbal, la piscina sensorial, o en los masajes, con bebidas del té en el salón de be­llezas.

El domingo de la partida fue gris y lluvioso, pero eso no impi­dió que el Nickelodeon diera su toque de distinción con un ale­gre espectáculo en el restaurante Zest en la mañana con Leonardo, Raphael, Michelanguelo y Dona­tello de las tortugas ninjas.

ViacomCBS to Launch TeenNick Channel in Hungary and Romania

ViacomCBS Networks Central and Eastern Europe is set to launch a TeenNick channel in Hungary (Magyarország) and România!


A launch date for TeenNick Magyarország has still to be announced, but the channel will replace RTL Spike on the EPG, which will be closing due to low ratings. Launched in December 2016, RTL Spike is completely owned and operated by ViacomCBS, with RTL Group's lending its name to the channel.

Update (4/12) - ViacomCBS will launch TeenNick in Hungary and România on Tuesday 12th January 2021! TeenNick Hungary use a sub-feed from Nickelodeon Teen, the French version of the channel, whilst TeenNick România will use TeenNick Latin America for its feed, so both will feature different schedules. Each channel will be available in each countries local language. Carriage negotiations are still on-going. It's thought that the channels will use different feeds for advertising reasons. Nickelodeon Teen has ad opt-outs, whereas TeenNick Latin American doesn't.

Update (29/12) - There are a couple of pan-regional versions of TeenNick: TeenNick Comm, which broadcasts in France (under the name Nickelodeon Teen) and Hungary; and TeenNick Global, which broadcasts in Romania and Latin America.

Update (11/12) - The Czech Radio and Television Council (RRTV) has granted Prague-based ViacomCBS Networks International Czech s.r.o. a 12-year licence to broadcast a TeenNick channel in the Czech Republic and Slovakia as well as in other European countries such as Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Estonia, France, Croatia, Kosovo, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Northern Macedonia, Slovenia, Serbia and Spain.

The news comes as ViacomCBS has been expanding Nickelodeon's TeenNick brand globally, including launches in Latin America and Greece. There are also TeenNick channels in Israel, France and the Middle East.

TeenNick is Nickelodeon's brand exclusively for and about teens and tweens that features a distinct perspective that connects its audience to the electricity and possibilities of teendom, anytime and anywhere, with original series and ever-popular favourites. TeenNick is available in more than 71 million households via cable, digital cable and satellite as well as on mobile, VOD and broadband.

TeenNick will join Nickelodeon, Nick Jr. and Nicktoons in the country.

It's currently unknown whether ViacomCBS CEE will roll out TeenNick to other countries within Central and Eastern Europe, such as Romania, Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia.

Megszünteti egyik csatornáját a ViacomCBS – indul a TeenNick

Megszűnik az RTL Spike, felváltja a tiniket megcélzó TeenNick.

Az RTL Spike 2016-os debütálása óta rengeteg szériát mutatott be a magyar nézőknek, ám az utóbbi időben leginkább csak árnyéka volt önmagának. Sohasem tudta igazán megtalálni a saját közönségét. A műsorszerkezete napközben többnyire ismétlésekre épült. A premiertartalmaik folyamatosan szorultak egyre jobban vissza az esti órákra. Hiába próbálkoztak különböző sorozatokkal és filmekkel, kiugrást csupán a The Walking Dead világpremierrel érkező epizódjai tudtak okozni. Utolsó újdonságai között az október végén érkező A halottkém új évadja fogja jelenteni. Az elmúlt évek során realityk és nagyobbaknak szánt animációk színesítették a kínálatot. Itt volt látható a Pumpedék vagy a Playback párbaj. Először volt látható A galaxis őrzői animációs széria, a Batman: A rajzfilmsorozatot pedig szintén az RTL Spike-nak köszönhetően láthattuk végig, a hiányzó részek szinkronizálásával. Népszerű sorozatok is bemutatkoztak az elmúlt években: A visszatérők (The 100), Sötét árvák (Black Orphan) vagy az iZombie szintén itt debütáltak magyar nyelven.

A Nickelodeon és alcsatornái – a már sok éve bejáratott kicsiket megcélzó Nick Jr. és a viszonylag meglehetősen újnak számít rajzfilmekre kihegyeződő NickToons – már sok éve dominálják a magyar nézettségi toplistákat. Így feltehetően nem szorul sok magyarázásra, hogy a ViacomCBS miért döntött arról, hogy újrapozicionálják a még 2016-ban, az RTL brandinggel indított csatornájukat. A névvel, és a közhiedelemmel ellentétben a csatorna kezelését teljes egészében a ViacomCBS intézte. Így a váltás nem fog fennakadásokat okozni az üzemeltetőnek. 

Harsányi Gábor, a Viacom közép-kelet-európai vezérigazgatója annyival magyarázta a Spike átalakulását, hogy a csatorna nézettsége nem hozta az elvárt szintet. Pontos információkat nem közöltek a változás időpontjáról. Amint további információk derülnek ki a dátumról és az induló TeenNick műsorainak listájáról, arról beszámolunk majd. A TeenNick a tengeren túlon egész nap a tini és a fiatal felnőtt közönséget célozza meg, az estéket pedig a a NickRewind (korábban: NickSplat) műsorblokkja tölti ki, ahol a csatornához tartozó retro sorozatokból csemegézhetnek a nézők. Ennek a magyar érkezéséről azonban jelenleg nincs semmi információ. A csatornák tematikája változik, azonban a ViacomCBS piacvezető pozíciója továbbra is állandó marad.

Ennyivel azonban nem merülnek ki a változások: A ViacomCBS azonban nem mond le az általános szórakoztató tartalmaikról. A bejáratott Paramount filmcsatornájuk (jelenleg Paramount Channel néven) is átalakuláson megy át. Kiszakad a filmek bezártságából és átveszi a csatornacsalád általános szórakoztató szerepét, melyre az is utalt korábban, hogy a Yellowstone című sorozatot már ott is vetítették. Feltehetően a Spike által korábban elkezdett sorozatok is ide vándorolnak át. A Paramount Network címre átkeresztelődés érdekessége, hogy két évvel ezelőtt Amerikában a ViacomCBS hasonló döntést hozott, azonban ott a zászlóshajónak számító Spike megnevezést vezették ki teljesen, hogy helyet adjanak a Paramount Networknek.

Az RTL Spike-ot működtető ViacomCBS TeenNick néven indít tévécsatornát a kis nézettségű RTL Spike megszűnését követően. További fontos bejelentéseket is tett a médiavállalat regionális vezetője a Big Picture konferencián.

Az RTL Spike mellett az MTV-t, a Nickelodeont, a Paramount Channelt is működtető médiavállalat az RTL Spike helyett TeenNick néven indít új tévécsatornát. Ez, ahogy nevében is utal rá, kifejezetten tiniknek szól és elsősorban vígjátékokat fog sugározni.

A Spike-ot az RTL Magyarországgal együttműködve indították el 2016 decemberében, de a csatorna nem az RTL Magyarországé volt, bár az RTL segítette a reklámidejének értékesítését, illetve hozzájárult az RTL név felhasználásához.

A csatorna megszűnéséhez az vezetett, hogy annak nézettsége kedvezőtlenül alakult az elmúlt időszakban – ismerte el Harsányi Gábor az interneten zajló tévés konferencián.

Az eddig az RTL Spike-on sugárzott népszerűbb műsorokat, mint amilyen például a Cobra is, áthelyezik a Paramount Channelre, amely egyébként felveszi a Paramount Network nevet.

A konferencián az nem hangzott, hogy a változásokra mikor kerül sor pontosan. Elhangzott viszont, hogy a Paramount+ néven indított videótáruk népszerűsége szépen emelkedik, duplájára nőtt rajta a tartalomfogyasztás, és az hamarosan a MindigTV (Antenna Hungária) rendszerén is elérhető lesz.

A Big Picture konferencián tovább bejelentések is elhangzanak, ezekről folyamatosan teszünk közzé híreket.

Krízisállónak bizonyult a televízió

Jelentősen átalakul a ViacomCBS magyarországi portfóliója 2020 végére: kivezetik az RTL Spike-ot, a csatorna legerősebb műsorai a Paramountra költöznek, bevezetik a tinédzsereket célzó Teennick-et is, valamint egyre több háztartásban lesz fogható a Paramount+ streamingszolgáltatás is. Harsányi Gáborral, a ViacomCBS Networks közép-kelet-európai alelnök-vezérigazgatójával ezeken túl nézettségről, a tavaszi reklámszegény helyzetről és a hazai és nemzetközi színtéren egyaránt több díjat is bezsebelő promógyártó csapatról is beszélgettünk.

Az interjú a Kreatív 2020. októberi számában jelent meg először.

Hogyan számoltatok tavasszal, mekkora lesz a reklámbevétel-kiesés egész évre, és ehhez képest hogyan látjátok az őszi-téli szezon foglalásainak fényében?

A világjárvány miatt a televíziózás korábban nem tapasztalt ellentmondásos helyzetbe került. A tévés tartalmak iránti igény felértékelődött, a műsorfogyasztás rég nem látott szintekre emelkedett, de a reklámpiac általános visszaesése miatt mégis bevételkieséssel kell az iparágnak szembenéznie. A kezdeti megtorpanás és a nemzetközi előrejelzések alapján komoly kiesés volt várható. A nyár végére azonban már látszott, hogy egyes hirdetők újra aktívabbakká válnak és a visszaesés némileg enyhébb lesz a vártnál. Ezt persze mindannyian megérezzük, de elmondható, hogy a televízió viszonylag krízisállónak bizonyult.

A megnövekedett tévézés a kisebb csatornák nézettségét is feljebb tornázta, most mégis úgy döntöttetek, hogy megszüntetitek az RTL Spike csatornát. Mi ennek az oka, mi lesz az itt nézhető tartalmakkal?

A megnövekedett figyelem eltérő módon érintette az egyes csatornák nézettségének alakulását. A Paramount Channel idén áprilisban érte el eddig a legtöbb nézőjét, és a részesedését is tovább tudta növelni a harmadik negyedévben. A Comedy Central és a Comedy Central Family egy igen erős nyarat tudhat maga mögött, és a legjobb formájában kezdte az őszi szezont. A gyerekcsatornáink is kimagaslóan teljesítenek, az év során elképesztő mértékben, 32 százalékkal nőtt a részesedésük. 

Az RTL Spike teljesítménye ugyanakkor sajnos jelentős kívánnivalót hagy maga után. Bár egyes sorozatai népszerűek és nézettek, a csatorna összességében nem hozza azt a szintet, amit elvárnánk tőle. Ez az egyik legfőbb oka annak, hogy a korábbi évek ütemes emelkedése után a portfóliónk összesített növekedése megállt. Ugyan a nézettségi részesedésünk magas szinten stabilizálódott és a ViacomCBS az első számú nemzetközi tematikus portfolió Magyarországon, de nem ülhetünk ölbe tett kézzel.

A továbblépést abban látjuk, hogy a Spike-ot kivezetjük a magyar piacról, a jelentős nézői igényre számot tartó sorozatait, mint a Cobra 11, a Yellowstone, a Halottkém vagy a Fargo, a Paramount csatornára helyezzük át. A Paramount tematikája így kibővül és általános szórakoztató csatornaként, Paramount Network márka alatt, még több szórakozást nyújtva és újabb nézőcsoportokat magához vonzva folytatja tovább.

A Viacom és a CBS összeolvadása mennyiben érinti a hazai/régiós tevékenységeteket?

A két önállóan is meghatározó médiacég egyesülésével a világ egyik legnagyobb tartalomgyára és tartalomszolgáltatója jött létre. Jó helyzetben vagyunk ahhoz, hogy a növekvő nézői igényeket a legváltozatosabb módon ki tudjuk szolgálni.Óriási tartalomkönyvtárral és gyártókapacitással rendelkezünk a Paramount Pictures, a ViacomCBS International Studios, a Nickelodeon Studios, a CBS és a Showtime révén. Az elmúlt évben 13 milliárd dollárt fordított a cégcsoport tartalmakra, és jelenleg 140 ezer tévés sorozatepizód valamint 3600 film áll a rendelkezésünkre.

A hagyományos lineáris tévécsatornáink mellett ide tartozik az Egyesült Államokban a legnagyobb és világszerte több régióban is már elérhető, reklámokkal támogatott, ingyenesen nézhető AVOD videóplatform, a Pluto TV, a jövő év elején pedig elindul a CBS All Accest felváltó, az összeolvadt cég legkülönfélébb tartalmaiból hatalmas válogatást nyújtó fizetős streaming szolgáltatás is Paramount+ néven. Ez a helyi adottságoktól függően, fokozatosan jut majd el a világ különböző régióiba. Azon leszünk, hogy ezekből a lehetőségekből Magyarországon is a legjobbat hozzuk ki.

Itthon 2018 végén cikkeztek róla először, hogy a Telekom Moziklub előfizetők számára lesz elérhető a Paramount. Kik számára elérhető ez a szolgáltatás most, és milyen célszámaitok vannak? 

Egyre inkább kiemelt szerepet kap a stratégiánkban, hogy a népszerű tartalmaink minden platformon, többféle eszközön és akár önállóan is elérhetőek legyenek. Ettől kezdve már nem csak a lineáris nézettségeket, hanem az úgynevezett non-lineáris felhasználás alakulását is kiemelt figyelemmel követjük. Ez a portfóliónkhoz hasonló válogatásunk on-demand, lekérhető formában szépen növekszik már 2018 óta. Idén pedig különösen megugrott, hiszen a megtekintett streamek száma már az első 7 hónapban meghaladta a tavalyi egész éves összmennyiséget, tehát több mint 100 százalékos növekedést ért el az előző év azonos időszakához képest. A Magyar Telekom mellett rövid időn belül más nagy szolgáltató kínálatában is megjelenik a Paramount+. Azon dolgozunk, hogy a jövőben még szélesebb körben elérhető legyen.

A Viacom kreatív csapata évek óta nagyon szépen teljesít a promóanyagokkal mind a nemzetközi tévés versenyeken, mind a hazai reklámversenyeken. Mennyire kimondott stratégiai irány, hogy ezekre figyelmet, erőforrást kell fordítani?

Nagy öröm a számunkra, hogy Budapesten olyan kreatív műhely jött létre, amely hihetetlenül egyedi látásmóddal tud világszínvonalon szórakoztató vizuális tartalmakat létrehozni. Minden márka akkor tud igazán élő maradni, és a közönségéhez közel kerülni, ha nemcsak figyelemfelkeltő, hanem szerethető is. Ha egy műsorpromó nem csupán információt közvetít, hanem a közönségnek kifejezetten élményt ad, szívesen megnézik többször, ahelyett, hogy elkapcsolnának, ráadásul a márkát is még tovább erősíti, annak óriási hozadéka van. Erre mindig is nagy hangsúlyt fordítottunk és ez továbbra is a középpontban lesz nálunk. A kreatívjaink továbbra is dübörögnek, és nemcsak idehaza: nemrég ismét négy Promax Europe Awardsot hoztak haza.

A Comedy Centralnál tavaly jelentősen visszavettetek a saját gyártásra fordítható büdzséből, most viszont stand-up vonalon megint erősítetek. Ezen kívül lesz más olyan saját tartalom, más csatornáitokat is beleértve, amire erőforrást allokáltok?

A stand-up régóta az egyik fő erőssége a Comedynek, ezt a vonalat természetesen továbbra is szeretnénk megőrizni. A Comedy Central emellett évről évre kísérletezik egy sor más műfajjal is, szkeccsekkel, rövid komikus epizódokkal, vagy éppen nagyívű kosztümös sorozattal, mint amilyen a Tömény Történelem volt. A kísérlet jellegénél fogva ezek közül nem mindegyik tudott üzletileg is kimagaslóan sikeres lenni. A járvány ideje alatt „karantén” típusú és kifejezett online fogyasztásra szánt sorozatokat is készítettünk, és jövőben is fogunk kísérletezni, illetve koprodukciós lehetőségeket keresni.

A magyarországi saját gyártást azután csavarta le a központ, hogy Villám Géza nagy hírveréssel elindított műsora rövid úton lekerült a képernyőről. Volt direkt összefüggés a kettő között? Mi okozta végül ennek a műsornak a megszüntetését?

A Heti Dörgés Villám Gézával szintén egy merész, újító kísérlet volt, ami nagy zajjal járt, tovább erősítette a márka imázsát, de sajnos nem hozta azt a magas nézettségi szintet, amit elvártunk tőle. Ez volt az egyszerű oka annak, hogy lekerült a képernyőről. Fontos, hogy a saját gyártások izgalmassá és relevánssá tegyék a márkát, de üzletileg is meg kell állniuk a helyüket.

A gyerekeknek szóló csatornák terén a ViacomCBS-nek van talán a legerősebb portfóliója. Hogyan álltok közönségarány terén?

A Nickelodon csatornák piacvezető szerepe megkérdőjelezhetetlen. Az elmúlt 5 évben, miközben a többi gyerekcsatorna fokozatosan veszített a részesedéséből, a Nick-portfólió folyamatosan tovább bővült. A család legutóbbi tagja, a NickToons az eltelt másfél év alatt minden versenytársát megelőzve majdnem olyan erőssé vált már, mint a NickJr. Így ma már a gyerekcsatornák nézettségi részesedésének a 60 százalékát ez a három (a hazai piacon legnagyobb) csatorna adja, és az arány folyamatosan nő. Ráadásul minden alkalommal úgy tudtunk újabb gyerekcsatornát indítani, hogy legfeljebb csak kismértékű saját kannibalizációval találkoztunk, a nézettség túlnyomó többségét mindig a versenytársaktól vettük el. Ezek a kedvező tapasztalatok azt súgják nekünk, hogy még mindig van igény újabb Nickelodeon-csatorna iránt. Ezért hamarosan a magyar piacra is bevezetjük a Teennick márkát, amely kifejezetten a tinédzsereket fogja szórakoztatni élőszereplős comedy és dramedy tartalmakkal. Ezt a megszűnő Spike helyén fogjuk elindítani, és ezzel válik teljessé a portfóliónk mostani átrendezése.

Minden, amit a TeenNickről tudni érdemes

A ViacomCBS Networks International a következő hetekben átalakítja hazai portfólióját, mely egy új csatorna érkezését és egy távozását jelenti.

Alig néhány héttel ezelőtt derült ki a sajtó, és ezáltal a nagyközönség számára, hogy az idei tél nagy változásokat hoz a viacomCBS számára. Kezdésként december 17-én a Paramount Channel nevet, és ettől a naptól kezdve Paramount Network néven kell keresni. Innentől sorozatok is a kínálatot képzik. Majd januárban megszűnik az RTL Spike sorozatcsatorna, amit egy új adó vált. Érkezik ugyanis kicsiny hazánkba a TeenNick tiniket megcélzó ifjúsági csatorna. Erről kérdeztük a vállalatot, mit érdemes tudni róla.

A TeenNick célközönsége a 12-16 éves korosztály. A TeenNick a ViacomCBS által működtetett népszerű Nickelodeon csatornacsalád legújabb tagja. Az elsősorban 12-16 éves tiniknek szóló új csatorna a Nickelodeon, a Nick Jr. és a NickToons programkínálatát tökéletesen kiegészítve a márka legjobb, felhőtlenül szórakoztató élőszereplős vígjáték- és tini drámasorozataival köti le a tinédzsereket. A TeenNick programja kifejezetten támogatja a testvérekkel illetve szülőkkel közös tévénézést.

Mindezt igen hamar, már 2021. január 12-étől lehet élvezni. Utánajártunk, hogy ettől a naptól automatikusan bekerül-e a szolgáltatók kínálatába a megszűnő RTL Spike helyére: Az RTL Spike helyén kínáljuk a TeenNicket a terjesztőknek. Az új csatorna piacra lépését az RTL Spike kivezetése is segíti, helyet szabadítva fel az új márka számára. Bízunk benne, hogy ezt a változást mind a szolgáltatók, mind az előfizetők kedvezően fogadják.

Vagyis nem feltétlenül kerül be a szolgáltatók kínálatába, viszont a tárgyalásokat elősegíti, hogy az ország legnézettebb gyerekcsatornaportfóliója gazdagszik egy újabb darabbal.

Felmerül egy újabb kérdés, miszerint az RTL Spike lokalizált csatorna lévén a TeenNick vajon megkapja-e ugyanezt a bánásmódot? Nos, nem, mivel egyszerűbb egy csatornát nemzetközi vizeken irányítani, több ország számára, mint egymagában kezelni. Így a terjeszkedés lehetősége is mindig előtérben maradhat. Nem mellesleg olcsóbb is a fenntartása. A ViacomCBS képviselete elárulta a Mentrum számára, hogy nem indul külön adásváltozat a régióban, helyette Franciaországgal közös adást fogunk kapni.

A magyarországi indulással egyidőben szomszédainknál, Romániában is elindul a tini csatorna, szintén január 12-én. Viszont náluk a latin-amerikai feed kerül elosztásra, mely értelemszerűen más műsorösszeállítással rendelkezik. Természetesen mindkét csatorna elérhető lesz az ország saját nyelvén.

A TeenNick népszerű élőszereplős (live-action) vígjáték és dramedy sorozatokat mutat be. Olyan élőszereplős sorozatokat tűz műsorra, mint az iCarly, A Thunderman család, a Noob csapat, a Frankie vagyok, a Rocksuli, a V, mint Viktória, a Big Time Rush és még sok más ismert széria.

Alig egy hónap múlva tehát, január 12-étől indul az új ifjúsági csatorna, a TeenNick.

V Česku a na Slovensku může vysílat TeenNick

Na českém a slovenském trhu se může brzy objevit nový tématický placený kanál TeenNick společnosti ViacomCBS Networks International Czech s.r.o. Stanice získala satelitní licenci od českého regulátora médií RRTV.

Rada pro rozhlasové a televizní vysílání (RRTV) na svém posledním 20. zasedání konaném 8. prosince 2020 udělila satelitní licenci společnosti ViacomCBS Networks International Czech pro televizní projekt s názvem TeenNick. Licence platí 12 let.

Podle licence se bude jednat o dětský televizní program zaměřený na americkou produkci.

Česká licence stanice TeenNick umožní program poskytovat na území České republiky a Slovenska a také v dalších zemích Evropy jako je Albánie, Bosna a Hercegovina, Bulharsko, Černá Hora, Estonsko, Francie, Chorvatsko, Kosovo, Litva, Lotyšsko, Maďarsko, Polsko, Portugalsko, Severní Makedonie, Slovinsko, Srbsko a Španělsko.

Hlavním vysílacím jazykem programu TeenNick bude maďarština. Stanice bude vysílat 24 hodiny denně.

Český regulátor médií zároveň informuje regulátory v členských státech Evropské unie, tj. Bulharsko, Estonsko, Francii, Chorvatsko, Litvu, Lotyšsko, Maďarsko, Polsko, Portugalsko, Slovensko, Slovinsko a Španělsko, že na jejich území se může vysílat stanice TeenNick s českou licencí pro satelitní vysílání.

Na českém a slovenském trhu se aktuálně ze skupiny ViacomCBS pod značkou Nickelodeon vysílají tři programy - hlavní program Nickelodeon, pro nejmladší diváky Nick Jr. (Nick Junior) a stanice zaměřená na animovanou produkci NickToons.

Placená televize TeenNick určená teenagerům by mohla začít vysílat v Česku, jednání s operátory probíhají

Na českém a slovenském trhu by mohla začít působit placená televize TeenNick, která je určena publiku ve věku od 13 do 19 let. Společnost ViacomCBS už pro ni získala potřebnou licenci vztahující se na satelitní distribuci.

Společnost ViacomCBS Networks International by mohla na českém a slovenském trhu spustit placený dětský kanál TeenNick. Firma už učinila první formální krok, kterým je žádost o vydání licence pro satelitní distribuci. Rada pro rozhlasové a televizní vysílání (RRTV) v tomto směru provozovateli vyhověla a oprávnění mu udělila na období dvanácti let. Automaticky to ovšem neznamená, že program bude na našem trhu fungovat. Jednání o případném spuštění s českými a slovenskými operátory však podle našich informací probíhá.

Stanice si svou premiéru odbyla koncem roku 2007 ve Spojených státech. Primárně je určena divákům ve věku od 13 do 19 let a zcela logicky doplňuje portfolio dalších dětských programů této značky působících na trhu, kterými jsou Nickelodeon, Nick Jr. a Nicktoons. Operátor Kuki má v nabídce i nelokalizovaný Nickelodeon HD. V tuto chvíli se připravuje rozšíření distribuce stanice do některých východoevropských zemí. TeenNick získal kromě povolení vstoupit na český a slovenský trh mimo jiné také pro Albánii, Bulharsko či Srbsko.

Viacom secures Czech TeenNick licence

The Czech Radio and TV Council (RRTV) has awarded ViacomCBS Networks International a 12-year satellite licence for the teen pay-TV channel TeenNick.

According to Digital Rozhlas, negotiations for the channel’s distribution are ongoing, though that does not automatically mean it will work in the Czech market.

It adds that TeenNick was launched in the US in 2007 and is aimed principally at viewers aged 13-19.

As such, it complements such channels as Nickelodeon, Nick Jr, and Nicktoons.

ViacomCBS Networks International is in the process of expanding TeenNick’s reach in CEE and the channel is also licenced to operate in several other countries including Slovakia, Bulgaria, Serbia and Albania.

Se lansează un nou post TV, în locul Paramount care se închide de la anul. Pentru adolescenți

O nouă televiziune se lansează în România. Vine în locul postului Parmount, care se închide din ianuarie. 

Se numește TeenNick, este deținut de Viacom și este un post dedicat adolescenților. Va avea seriale de comedie în grilă, printre altele. 

TeenNick va fi disponibil pentru clienții marilor operatori de televiziune din 12 ianuarie 2021, anunță reprezentanții ViacomCBS.

„În procesul de reajustare a portofoliului, ViacomCBS transformă Paramount Channel România în TeenNick și pune această nouă televiziune la dispoziția distribuitorilor.

Introducerea TeenNick pe piață va reprezenta înlocuirea treptată a Paramount Channel”, menționează aceeași sursă. 

Noul post este cel mai nou membru „al familiei” de televiziuni Nickelodeon, operate de ViacomCBS. Câteva date, pe scurt:

- Se adresează în special adolescenților între 12 și 16 ani.
- Vine în completarea programului oferit de Nickelodeon, Nick Jr. și NickToons
- Aduce seriale de acțiune, comedie și dramă pentru adolescenți, produse de Nickelodeon.
- Va avea seriale pentru copii precum iCarly, The Thundermans, Noobees, I am Frankie, School of Rock, Victorious și multe altele.

Se închide postul Paramount
Televiunea de filme Paramount Channel se închide în România din ianuarie 2021. Anunțul a fost publicat sub forma unui promo, care rulează atât pe post, cât și pe Youtube.

Filmele se vor putea urmări în continuare pe Comedy Central, post deținut de compania Viacom.

Ezzel a műsorral indul januárban a TeenNick

Már egy ideje tudjuk, hogy január 12-én új gyerekcsatornával bővül a hazai piac, viszont az a mai napig kérdéses volt, hogy milyen műsorkínálattal várja majd a nézőit. Nos, mi megmutatjuk!

Ezektől már modernebb alkotásnak számítanak a Game Shakers, a Noob csapat, A Thunderman család vagy az Egy csipetnyi bűvölet is. Az összes sorozat az összes epizódjával műsoron lesz, még a rég befejezettek is.

A TeenNick ügyesen vegyíti a régi és modern műsorokat, a vígjátékot a misztikummal, rejtéllyel és olykor kicsit nagyobbaknak szánt szériák is adásba kerülnek. Nem maradhat el a filmes blokk sem, szombat esténként műsorra kerül egy-egy eredeti Nickelodeon-alkotás, amit másnap délelőtt újra megismétel a csatorna.

Iconic 'Good Burger' Burger Mobile Arrives in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO -- Welcome to Hi-Pointe Drive-In, home of smashed-thin burgers, can I take your order?


The iconic drive-in is bringing a blast from the 90’s past to the St. Louis area. The famous Burger Mobile featured in Nickelodeon Movies and Paramount Pictures' cult-favorite 1997 movie Good Burger will soon have a new home, thanks to the Hi-Pointe Drive-In.

Nickelodeon alums Kenan Thompson (All That, Kenan & KelSaturday Night Live) and actor Kel Mitchell (All ThatKenan & Kel, Game Shakers, Dancing with the Stars, MTV's Deliciousness) drove the 1975 AMC Pacer, which had a hamburger on its hood, to deliver the burgers in the movie.

Fast forward 22 years, the car was covered in rust and purchased by the owners of the drive-in.

Mike Johnson, the owner of the drive-in, said the car was purchased for $6,000 and had to be towed to St. Louis from Daytona Beach. The car underwent around $20,000 worth of work.


“People these days want to have an Instagramable picture, so we’ll keep it open and let people open it and sit in it to take pictures and stuff. Hopefully there will be less glass in the seats,” Johnson said.

The restaurant took to Facebook in April 2019 to have loyal customers guess the name of the movie for a $50 gift card.

ST. LOUIS — A piece of extra-cheesy '90s kid culture was restored to its former glory this month at one St. Louis burger spot. 

Mike Johnson, owner of the Hi-Pointe Drive-In, last week unveiled the newly restored "burgermobile" made famous in the 1997 Nikelodeon kids movie “Good Burger" inside the restaurant's flagship location at 1033 McCausland Avenue. 

Johnson bought the 1975 AMC Pacer with a hamburger on its hood in a sorry state in April 2019, the Post-Dispatch reported at the time. 

The chef and restaurant owner spotted an article online announcing the car was for sale for $10,000 in Florida and couldn't pass it up, despite the fact it couldn't run and was listed with 999,999 miles on it. 

It took longer than Johnson expected — 20 months — and about $25,000 for the restoration, but the burger was finally done this month. It's topped with pickle wheels, a crinkle-fry bumper, a flashing arrow and a shake shooting out its back.

The exterior work was a side project for St. Louis artist Joe Albanese, Johnson said. To get the car running, Johnson had to buy another AMC Pacer from the era for parts. 

"I think it actually looks better than it did in the movie," Johnson said Monday standing next to the flashing burger-car at the entry to his restaurant. 

Hi-Pointe Drive-In posted a video revealing the car on Instagram last week. Keenan Thompson, star of "Good Burger" before his long career on "Saturday Night Live," gave his stamp of approval. 

"Wowwwww!!! Awesome!!!!" Thompson commented from his official account. 

Johnson said he hopes the burgermobile will be available for photos for years inside the restaurant. 

"It was more than worth it," he said.

Good Burger Car Gets Restored and Displayed at St. Louis Burger Joint

Good Burger fans in the St. Louis area can now visit the burgermobile seen in the movie at Hi-Pointe Drive-In.

The burgermobile seen in the cult classic Nickelodeon movie Good Burger has been restored and now resides at Hi-Pointe Drive-In in St. Louis, Missouri. A 1975 AMC Pacer, the vehicle is memorable for its large arrows on the sides, the Good Burger sign on top, a shake on its back, its pickle wheels, crinkle fry bumper, and, of course, the large hamburger on the hood. Encouraging patrons to come visit the Good Burger car and snap a photo, the restaurant posted a video to Instagram unveiling the fully-restored burgermobile.

"It took a long time but our world famous burger [car] we bought from the 90's classic Good Burger is finally home," the caption reads. The post has since caught the attention of Kenan Thompson, who co-starred with Kel Mitchell in the movie.

"Wowwww!!!! Awesome!!!!" Thompson commented.

Hi-Pointe Drive-In owner Mike Johnson purchased the burgermobile in April 2019. Although the car was in poor shape, couldn't run, and was listed with 999,999 miles, Johnson spent $10,000 to own the piece of movie history. He says he spent another $25,000 for the restoration, which includes buying another AMC Pacer for parts and hiring artist Joe Albanese for the exterior work. All in all, the process took about 20 months.

"I think it actually looks better than it did in the movie," Johnson said, adding that it was "more than worth it" and hopes the car will be available for photo-ops in the restaurant for years to come.

Good Burger began as a series of skits on the Nickelodeon sketch comedy series All That. They'd typically feature Kel Mitchell as Ed, a clueless teenage cashier. Mitchell would reprise the role in 1997 for the movie adaptation with Kenan Thompson playing new employee Dexter Reed. In the movie, Ed and Dexter face losing their jobs when a new competitor opens a burger joint offering unnaturally large burgers across the street, threatening to put Good Burger out of business. Several celebrities also appear in special roles in the movie, such as Abe Vigoda, Sinbad, George Clinton, Carmen Electra, and Shaquille O'Neal.

In the years since its release, Good Burger has developed a cult following. Mitchell reunited with Thompson on an episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for a new Good Burger sketch, and this sparked rumors that a sequel could get made. Mitchell and Thompson have both since said they'd be up for reprising their roles from the 1997 movie in a new sequel, but that the decision isn't up to them. If the fans want it and both of the original stars are on board, there's still hope that Good Burger 2 just might happen someday.

A huge congratulations to Emma Roberts and Garrett Hedlund, who have just announced that they're expecting their first child!

The happy news was revealed on Us Weekly's Hot Hollywood news podcast.


Emma Roberts’ mom, Kelly Cunningham, confirmed her pregnancy hours after the news broke, when fans rushed to the comments section of Cunningham’s most recent Instagram post on Thursday, June 25, to inquire about the 29-year-old actor. “Is Emma pregnant?????” one person asked, to which she replied: “Yes!!”

The couple have yet to comment on their baby news.

The couple were first linked in March 2019 when they were spotted holding hands in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. “Garrett and Emma have been friends, but this is new, casual, and just a couple of weeks old,” a source told Us at the time.

The insider added that the Nickelodeon alun, 29, and the actor, 35, are “having fun and enjoying each other.”

This came after Us confirmed that the actress had ended her engagement to on-again, off-again fiancé Evan Peters.

“Emma and Evan were heading for a split and now are just friends,” a source revealed in March 2019. “Evan has moved out. It wasn’t a bad breakup.”

The former couple started dating in 2012 after filming Adult World and went on to share the screen for four American Horror Stories seasons.

Roberts starred in the Nickelodeon sitcom Unfabulous, which followed the the lives of music-loving teenager Addie Singer (Roberts) and her friends. The series ran for 41 episodes over three seasons from 2004 to Dec. 16, 2007.

The Scream Queens alum spoke of her split in May 2019, telling Cosmopolitan: “I think that no matter who you are or what you do or wherever in the world you are, anything ending is hard. Losing something is hard. And the only thing I can say for that is … I’m realizing that life is highs and lows. I’m trying to ride them out and live somewhere in the middle.”

“It’s hard enough to be with someone by yourself, let alone with an audience,” she admitted to Cosmopolitan in June 2019.

The New York native went on to explain, “When you’re low, you think it’s never going to end. When you’re high, you’re so scared of it ending. And I’ve lived in both of those places for too long.”

As for Hedlund, the Tron: Legacy star previously dated Kirsten Dunst from 2011 to 2016.

As of January, Roberts and Hedlund were not planning on making their romance official. The twosome were “having fun and enjoying each other” but “not talking an engagement or marriage at the moment,” a source told Us.

Update (9/1) - Emma Roberts has confirmed on social media that she is pregnant with her first child with boyfriend Garrett Hedlund! The 29-year-old shared pictures showing her baby bump and revealed the gender of her child as well. "Me...and my two favorite guys," Emma Roberts had captioned the now viral picture.

7 декабря телеканал Nickelodeon HD представил премьеру «Янг Дилан Тайлера Перри». Новый комедийный сериал для детей расскажет о десятилетнем Янг Дилане, восходящей звезде хип-хопа, который переезжает в дом к своему дяде и переворачивает привычный семейный уклад вверх дном.

По сюжету шоу, исполнительным продюсером которого стал популярный актер, сценарист и продюсер Тайлер Перри, бабушка Янг Дилана Виола (Алома Райт, «Клиника», «Друзья») решает отправить непростого внука пожить в доме у своего успешного сына, Майлза Уилсона (Карл Энтони Пэйн II, «Квантовый скачок»), его жены Ясмин (Миеко Хиллман, «Как я встретил вашу маму», «Американская семейка») и их двух детей, Ребекки (Селена Смит) и Чарли (Хиро Хантер). Семье Уилсонов приходится смириться с тем, что жизнь никогда не станет прежней, и попробовать ужиться с юным бунтарем Диланом под одной крышей.

Уже в первых эпизодах сериала Янг Дилан проявит свой характер и поссорится с дядей, устроит забастовку в школе, а потом и вовсе откажется в нее ходить. Пытаясь завоевать авторитет в новом доме, мальчик даст несколько уроков уличной культуры своим безупречным кузенам, но быстро поймет, что даже крутым рэперам стоит следовать правилам Уилсонов.

Через шутки и забавные бытовые ситуации, случающиеся в каждой большой семье, шоу научит зрителей с юмором относиться к трудностям и понимать, насколько важно идти на компромисс со своими близкими людьми, чтобы сохранять с ними хорошие и доверительные отношения.

Nickelodeon Россия совместно с мультиплатформенным оператором Триколором объявляют о старте ежегодного творческого конкурса «Нам нужен твой голос», победитель которого посетит студию дубляжа в Москве и примет участие в озвучке эпизода одного из шоу Nickelodeon.

С 14 декабря по 13 января юные зрители телеканала смогут почувствовать себя в роли актеров дубляжа и озвучить персонажей любимых шоу. Для участия в конкурсе «Нам нужен твой голос» необходимо зарегистрироваться на сайте tvoygolos.nickelodeon.ru и выбрать своего любимого героя, например Губку Боба Квадратные Штаны, Линкольна Лауда из «Моего шумного дома» или Опасного Малого из «Опасного Генри», и записать свой вариант его озвучки.

Каждый день среди участников будут разыгрываться призы от Nickelodeon Россия и Триколора: подарочный набор с красочной гирляндой, игрушкой из мультсериала «Губка Боб Квадратные Штаны», открытками и специальным стикерпаком с популярными персонажами. Победитель, которого выберет жюри конкурса, посетит студию дубляжа в Москве и подарит свой голос любимому герою. В дальнейшем миллионы зрителей услышат его в эфире телеканала Nickelodeon Россия.

Nickelodeon Россия впервые показывает в эфире ролики про полюбившегося всему YouTube Акуленка — Baby Shark

Nickelodeon Россия представила новые анимационные ролики по мотивам самого популярного видео на YouTube про Акуленка, известного во всем мире как Baby Shark. Они уже доступны в эфире телеканала, а лицензионную программу ViacomCBS Consumer Products планирует запустить в России в 2021 году.

Музыкальные ролики, созданные специально для Nickelodeon, напомнят юным российским зрителям о популярной по всему мире франшизе и погрузят их в мир любимых подводных героев. Так, к примеру, в одном из видео песенка из YouTube, собравшая на текущий момент более 7,3 млрд просмотров, впервые прозвучит на телеканале на русском языке.

Diamond Select Announces New Aang and Sokka 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Figures

Avatar: The Last Airbender has been back in the spotlight recently thanks to Netflix adding Nickelodeon's beloved animated series to its programming library earlier this year. New popularity means new collectibles, and Diamond Select Toys has been dishing out some great figures for fans.


This time two new figures have been revealed that will feature roughly 16 points of articulation and will come with interchangeable hands and accessories. First up is one of the main characters Sokka who will come with his trusty boomerang. Diamond Select Toys captures the animated design of the charier, and he will be a necessary addition to your growing Avatar: The Last Airbender collection. Things then get a little more powerful as Aang is powered up in his Avatar State. He will come with accessories for all four elements and will come with his own glider as well. Avatar: The Last Airbender fans will definitely not want to miss out on both of these amazing deluxe action figures.

Each of the Avatar: The Last Airbender Series 4 Deluxe Action Figures from Diamond Select Toys will be priced at $24.99. They are expected to release in May 2021, and fans can find pre-orders are already live online and located here. Since these are distributed through Diamond, fans can also reserve theirs at their local comic shop.

Set to be released on Wednesday, February 17, 2021Wednesday, March 10, 2021, The Legend of Korra: The Art of the Animated Series-Book One: Air HC and Deluxe HC will offer fans the chance to go behind the scenes The Legend of Korra Book One: Air — the first season of  The Legend of Korra, the critically acclaimed animated series created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko—the smash-hit sequel to their blockbuster show Avatar: The Last Airbender!

Papercutz will be releasing The Loud House #14: Guessing Games, a brand new graphic novel inspired by Nickelodeon’s hit original animated series The Loud House in November 2021!


The Loud House #14: Guessing Games will be released in the U.K. on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.  A U.S. release date has yet to be announced, however, I'd expect it to be released in the United States around the same time.

Not much information is currently available for The Loud House #14: Guessing Games, however, the cover art features Ronnie Anne and her pal Sid Chang from The Casagrandes, so it's probably safe to presume that at least one story in the graphic novel will feature a crossover of both shows.

Rugrats Revival

Nickelodeon will relaunch the iconic kids’ TV series Rugrats with a CG-animated 26-episode new season, which will include new adventures with beloved characters Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Susie and Angelica, and will also introduce a new world of characters!

Original creators Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó and Paul Germain will return to the TV series as executive producers. Nickelodeon’s Rugrats will be produced in Burbank, Calif., with production already underway. Additional news of the TV series, airdate and casting--and Reptar sightings--will be announced in the coming months. Veteran cast members are expected to return to reprise their roles.

Rugrats focuses on a group of toddlers, Tommy Pickles, Chuckie Finster, twins Phil and Lil DeVille, and Angelica Pickles, and their day-to-day lives that became adventures in their imaginations. The original Rugrats series launched in August of 1991 and instantly became a groundbreaking phenomenon, spawning consumer products, three hit theatrical releases and cementing its place in pop culture history through its iconic characters, storytelling and unique visual style. Rugrats was in production for nine seasons over the course of 13 years. The series earned four Daytime Emmy Awards, six Kids' Choice Awards and its own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

A live-action Rugrats movie featuring CGI characters from Paramount Players was in the works, but it's release is currently on hiatus.

Star Trek: Prodigy
Expected: 2021


Nickelodeon and CBS Television Studios have announced the greenlight of a new animated Star Trek series to be developed by Emmy Award winners Kevin and Dan Hageman (Trollhunters and Ninjago) and overseen for Nickelodeon by Ramsey Naito, EVP, Animation Production and Development, Nickelodeon.

Debuting exclusively on Nickelodeon, Star Trek: Prodigy expands the Star Trek universe for a new generation of fans. The new original CG-animated series follows a group of lawless teens who discover a derelict Starfleet ship and use it to search for adventure, meaning and salvation.

The series will see Kate Mulgrew (Star Trek: Voyager) reprise her role as the fan-favorite Captain Kathryn Janeway.

Award-winning director and producer Ben Hibon (Codehunterswill direct, co-executive produce and serve as the creative lead of Star Trek: Prodigy. Nami Melumad (An American Pickle, Absentia, Miss Arizona) is expected to score the series.

Star Trek: Prodigy will be from CBS’ Eye Animation Productions, CBS Television Studios’ new animation arm; Secret Hideout; and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Katie Krentz, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth will serve as executive producers alongside Kevin and Dan Hageman. Mac Middleton will serve as a producer with Aaron Baiers as co-executive producer.

The new Star Trek series is the third animated series from CBS Television Studios, following Star Trek: Lower Decks for CBS All Access and Our Cartoon President for SHOWTIME.

Claudia Spinelli, VP Animation Development, Nickelodeon, is the executive in charge of the new animated Star Trek series for Nickelodeon. The series will also be overseen by Alec Botnick, SVP, Comedy Development and Head of Animation, CBS Television Studios.

ViacomCBS Consumer Products are looking to release a range of Star Trek: Prodigy products following the show's launch.

Platform: CBS All Access/Paramount in the U.S.; Nickelodeon channels internationally. The series is slated to also eventually air on Nickelodeon USA later in the year.
Sneak Peek: Sunday, January 10, 2021 during the half-time of the NFL Wild Card Game on Nickelodeon.


A prequel spin-off from SpongeBob SquarePants, Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, is a CG-animated series which follows 10-year-old SpongeBob SquarePants and his pals as they spend their summer building underwater campfires, catching wild jellyfish, and swimming in Lake Yuckymuck at the craziest camp in the kelp forest, Kamp Koral.

Produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio, the series is slated to debut in 2021 exclusively on the newly rebranded Paramount+ streaming video on demand service. Following the season’s run on Paramount+, the series will also air on Nickelodeon later in the year.

In Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, SpongeBob meets Patrick, Sandy, Squidward, Plankton and Mr. Krabs, where the new friends embark on all the joys of camp, including hunting for treasure, slaplining and more. The CG-animated series (13 episodes) is the first original spinoff of Nickelodeon’s iconic hit show SpongeBob SquarePants.

Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years features Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy) and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton) reprising their iconic roles. Carlos Alazraqui (Rocko's Modern Life, The Casagrandes) and Kate Higgins (Blaze and the Monster Machines) join as new characters Nobby and Narlene, narwhal siblings who live in the woods surrounding the camp.

Marc Ceccarelli (SpongeBob SquarePants), Vincent Waller (SpongeBob SquarePants) and Jennie Monica (SpongeBob SquarePants) are co-executive producers of the series. Production of Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years is overseen by Kelley Gardner, Vice President, Current Series Animation, Nickelodeon.

Nickelodeon will air a sneak peek of Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years during the half-time of the NFL Wild Card Game on Nickelodeon.

SpongeBob's neighbor and BFF Patrick Star is getting his own spin-off series! Reportedly to be in the vein of The Larry Sanders Show and Comedy Bang! Bang!, The Patrick Star Show will see the superstar sea star saviour hosting his own late-night talk show. The series is said to revolve around Patrick and his family.

The series will see the character’s longtime SpongeBob voice actor Bill Fagerbakke reprise his iconic role of the not-so-bright but kind-hearted sea star, who lives under a rock. Fagerbakke is being joined by a largely new cast voicing new characters, with SpongeBob cast members expected to make occasional appearances, reprising their respective roles.

The series has a 13-episode order and comes from the creative team behind the mothership series.

Big Nate (middle character)

Nickelodeon is taking the misadventures of Big Nate from page to screen with an all-new CG-animated TV series based on the best-selling children’s books written and drawn by acclaimed author and cartoonist Lincoln Peirce.

The eponymous 26-episode series follows Nate, a precocious 11-year-old boy, and his best friends as they navigate sixth grade with humor and style. Big Nate is produced by Nickelodeon in Burbank, Calif.

The TV series will feature brand-new original storylines centered on Nate and his mischievous shenanigans that usually result in disaster, detention or both. Whether trying to convince everyone that their school is haunted to get out of a test, or accidentally setting the pet iguana free in the school’s air ducts, Nate and his friends cause trouble everywhere--and must keep their cool before they get caught.

The Big Nate TV series is executive produced by Mitch Watson (All Hail King Julien) and John Cohen (The Angry Birds Movie), with Peirce serving as consultant throughout development and production. Bridget McMeel is co-producer.

Power Rangers Dino Fury will star Russell Curry as Zayto / Red Ranger, Hunter Deno as Amelia / Pink Ranger, Kai Moya as Ollie / Blue Ranger, Tessa Rao as Izzy / Green Ranger (a genderswap from the Super Sentai counterpart), and Chance Perez as Javi / Black Ranger

Among those battling the Dino Fury rangers will be a villainess “Boomtower” - which some fans might recognize as Tankjoh from Kishiryu Sentai RyuSoulger - and two monsters of the day, “Doomsnake” and "Shockhorn".

Like previous seasons, Power Rangers Dino Fury will transcend into the toy aisle with brand new merchandise based on the show.

Nickelodeon has ordered a new original animated series, Middlemost Post (working title), which combines quirky characters with hilarious adventures and unwavering friendship. Created and co-executive produced by John Trabbic III (SpongeBob SquarePants, storyboard director), the 20-episode 2D-animated series follows a former rain cloud, a brawny mailman and their magical pet walrus as they deliver packages to the unusual inhabitants of Mount Middlemost. Middlemost Post is produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, with Dave Johnson serving as co-executive producer and story editor. Additional casting news and premiere date will be announced in the coming months.

In Middlemost Post, Parker J. Cloud, an exuberant raincloud, lives and works in the Middlemost Post Office with Angus, a burly, rule-abiding mailman who cherishes his solitude and values efficiency, and Russell, their magical pet walrus whose stomach is so big that it doubles as a storage room. Together they journey through Mount Middlemost and the six territories of Somewhere to deliver the mail, while meeting some exceptionally quirky and peculiar people along the way. But as this loving and unconventional trio grows closer, they remain blissfully unaware that they have been brought together by one fateful stormy event.

To Trabbic, a recovering addict, the story about a “reformed rain cloud, who doesn’t want to rain on people any more, he just wants to brighten people’s days,” is also about his own evolution. Besides the animation, “it leans into humor and I am incorporating stop-motion sets.” Trabbic is also working on getting the show ready to premiere on Nickelodeon in 2021.

The Barbarian and the Troll

Nickelodeon announced the greenlight of The Barbarian and the Troll (formally titled Brendar the Barbarian, 13 episodes), a brand-new live-action puppet comedy series from co-creators Mike Mitchell (Trolls, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part) and expert puppeteer Drew Massey (Mutt & Stuff, Sid the Science Kid).  The series follows Evan, a bridge troll in search of adventure, and Brendar, a fierce female warrior, on a quest to defeat the evil demon who has imprisoned her brother.  Filming on The Barbarian and the Troll commenced October 19, 2020 at North Shore Studios in Vancouver, Canada, and is expected to wrap on February 12th, 2021. The Barbarian and the Troll is slated to premiere on Nickelodeon in 2021.

In The Barbarian and the Troll, Evan, a troll who has never ventured out from under his bridge, decides to explore the world for the first time in search of a great adventure and inspiration to fulfill his dream of becoming a singer.  He soon meets Brendar, Gothmoria’s most feared and revered warrior, and joins in her quest across treacherous terrain and confrontations with bizarre and magical creatures.  Throughout their journey and encounters with an eclectic puppet cast of wacky characters, they both learn that they’re better together and form an unbreakable friendship.

The Barbarian and the Troll is co-created, written and executive produced by Mitchell, who also serves as director, and Massey, who also serves as lead puppeteer.  Production of The Barbarian and the Troll is overseen for Nickelodeon by Shauna Phelan, Senior Vice President, Live-Action Scripted Content; and Zack Olin, Senior Vice President, Live Action.

Nickelodeon has struck a multiplatform deal with James Corden and Ben Winston, and their production company Fulwell 73, to produce an animated movie and TV series, based on the recently released children’s book title, Real Pigeons Fight Crime. The movie and TV series are being developed to air on all Nickelodeon platforms.

Written by Andrew McDonald and illustrated by Ben Wood, Real Pigeons Fight Crime was published in Australia by Hardie Grant Children’s Publishing and is now available in over 10 territories including North America, where it was recently released by Random House Children’s Books. Hilarious, engaging and completely ridiculous, the Real Pigeons series has sold hundreds of thousands of books and has amassed legions of fans around the globe. Real Pigeons Fight Crime reveals the secret life of crime-busting pigeons who set out to keep a town safe. The deal underscores key elements of Nickelodeon’s content strategy, to build and expand the worlds of popular franchises and give audiences more of what they love.

The Real Pigeons Fight Crime TV series is executive produced by Corden and Winston, with Andrew McDonald and Ben Wood serving as consultants throughout development and production.

Andrew McDonald is a children’s author who lives in Melbourne, Australia. He is the author of the Real Pigeons series and loves writing stories that make kids laugh, gasp, think and wonder. His books have been shortlisted for the Readings Children’s Book Prize and the Australian Book Industry Awards.

Ben Wood is the illustrator of the Real Pigeons series and has always been drawn to stories with humor and heart. He has illustrated over 30 books for children, with several titles recognized on the Children Book Council of Australia (CBCA)’s “Notables” lists and was shortlisted for the Australian Book Industry Awards in 2019 and 2020.

Nickelodeon has reportedly won the rights in a competitive situation to Dana Simpson’s comic strip Phoebe and Her Unicorn, a property that the ViacomCBS studio is eyeing as a multi-platform franchise across an TV animated series, movies and more. The final deal points are still to be announced.

Phoebe and her Unicorn follows 9-year-old Phoebe Howell, a girl in the fourth grade, who deals with childhood challenges alongside her unicorn Marigold, friend Max and enemy Dakota. Phoebe meets Marigold after skipping a rock across a pond, accidentally hitting the unicorn in the face. Freed from her own reflection, the unicorn—named Marigold Heavenly Nostrils—gives Phoebe one wish, which she decides to use by making the unicorn her best friend. Marigold has magical powers, i.e. she can divert or redirect rain and send text messages and broadcast a Wi-Fi hotspot through her horn. Her most highly coveted power though is her “Shield of Boringness” spell, which causes humans to view her as nothing out of the ordinary and allows her to interact with them on a daily basis.

The daily comic strip initially launched on Universal Uclick’s GoComics website in 2012 before it launched in 100 newspapers in 2015.

Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment are partnering with Bridget McMeel of Andrews McMeel Entertainment to produce Phoebe and Her Unicorn content. Lee brought the project into Darlene Caamaño Loquet, Senior Vice President (SVP) of Nickelodeon Movies, who’ll over the project for Nickelodeon. Roy and Yoon will oversee development.

Fred Nelson and Matt Sheppo will oversee Phoebe and Her Unicorn for Andrews McMeel Entertainment (AME), the entertainment unit of Andrews McMeel Universal.

Nickelodeon is slated to premiere Adventures in Wonder Park, an animated series inspired by Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies hit 2019 theatrical feature Wonder Park, sometime in the future! The series in feature the voices of: Kitana Turnbull as June, Greg Cipes as Peanut, Ken Hudson Campbell as Boomer, Jill Talley as Mom, Cam Clarke as Dad, Rachael MacFarlane as Greta, Kevin Michael Richardson as Gus, Aryan Simhadri as Banky, Stephen Tobolowsky as Uncle Tony, Daran Norris as Principal Peters, Kate McGregor-Stewart as Aunt Albertine, and Raymond McLeod.

Counting Stars

Counting Stars is a brand-new series following a group of mega-talented freshmen at the most elite music performance boarding school in the country who compete to perform at the year end talent showcase. The scripted music series will feature original music in every episode.

Casting took place during late-2019. Filming was slated to commence in January 2020, but was postponed to November 2020.

Counting Stars is the Simon Fuller/Ryan Tedder-Produced Untitled Project announced during Nickelodeon Upfront 2019.

Simon Fuller is a legendary, multi-hyphenate creator, producer and manager behind iconic franchises such as the global Idol phenomenon and Spice Girls. Grammy Award-winning Ryan Tedder is the frontman of OneRepublic and writer behind countless hit songs from artists ranging from Beyoncé and Adele, to Camila Cabello, Ed Sheeran and Kelly Clarkson, among others.

Characters in the show will include: Taylor Hutchinson (Lead; female, 13-15); Eva Ruiz (Lead, female, 13-15); Madison Montgomery (Female, 13-15); Jacob Evans (Lead; male, 12-15); Chase Jones (Lead; male, 13-15); and Austin Peterson (Lead; male, 13-15).

The Smurfs: A New Touch Of Blue

Nickelodeon and LAFIG Belgium and IMPS, the worldwide licensors for The Smurfs, are partnering to bring a brand-new original CG-animated series based on the iconic property to a new generation of kids and families around the world. Under the deal, Nickelodeon has licensed the global rights to The Smurfs, which follows the beloved characters--Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Brainy, Hefty, Clumsy and others--on all-new adventures, packed with humor, heart and high-stakes action. The series is slated to debut in 2021 in the U.S., followed by Nickelodeon channels internationally.

In addition to the content partnership, ViacomCBS Consumer Products (VCP) will manage consumer products licensing for The Smurfs property across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Singapore and Malaysia. VCP will seek new merchandising and promotional partners in select categories and territories for The Smurfs classic brand, in addition to a new product line for the new animated series The Smurfs, spanning categories including toys, stationery, apparel and accessories, home, consumer packaged goods and more, to launch at retail in 2022.

Global master toy manufacturer for The Smurfs, Jazwares will create a toy line reviving the internationally beloved franchise for today's generation of children. The Smurfs toy line is set to hit retail in 2022.

The Smurfs is produced by Peyo Productions and Dupuis Edition & Audiovisuel. It is directed by William Renaud (Calimero, Casper’s Scare School, A Kind of Magic) and written by Peter Saisselin (Sonic Boom, Alvin!!! And the Chipmunks) and Amy Serafin (Sonic Boom, Alvin!!! And the Chipmunks).

The Smurfs is being overseen by Layla Lewis, Senior Vice President, Global Acquisitions and Content Partnerships and Dana Cluverius, Senior Vice President, Current Series Animation.

Created in 1958 by Belgian cartoonist Peyo, pen name of Pierre Culliford (1928-1992), the Smurfs (French: Les Schtroumpfs) evolved from secondary comic characters in Peyo's Johan and Peewit (French: Johan et Pirlouit) comic series and spinning off into their own series the following year, in which they became the small centerpieces of the massive franchise that skyrocketed to global fame with the 1981 launch of The Smurfs (Smurfs' Adventures) Saturday morning cartoon series, which, produced by Hanna-Barbera aired new episodes on NBC until 1989, running for more than 250 episodes and several specials over nine seasons. It would eventually manifest in live-action CG-animation hybrid splendor on the big screen. The 2011 feature film of the same name and its 2013 sequel, The Smurfs 2 were produced by Sony Pictures Animation and released by Columbia Pictures. Hank Azaria and Neil Patrick Harris starred in live-action roles, with voiceovers by Anton Yelchin, Jonathan Winters, Katy Perry (famously providing the voice of Smurfette), Jayma Mays, and George Lopez. A fully CG-animated standalone movie, The Smurfs: Lost Village was released in April 2017, featuring the voices of Demi Lovato, Rainn Wilson, Ellie Kemper, Julia Roberts and Mandy Patinkin. The Smurfs have also featured in two shorts.

Meet the Voxels

Nickelodeon originally announced the development of Meet the Voxels (working title), an original TV, virtual reality and augmented reality series conceived by Chris Young, Senior Vice President of Nickelodeon’s Entertainment Lab, in August 2018. The animated sitcom, created in a game engine, marks a first for Nickelodeon in its use of cutting-edge virtual cinema technology, including real-time full body and facial performance capture, bringing an innovative approach to immersive storytelling. Nickelodeon’s Entertainment Lab is the network’s division established to spearhead long-range research and development around emerging platforms and new technology. Meet the Voxels is being developed to air across Nickelodeon’s channels globally.

The series will feature an African-American and Latinx family where everyone is from a different video game.

Meet the Voxels takes kids behind the scenes of a video game world and follows a family of video-game characters, the Voxels, on their adventures on-and-off-duty. When the project was first announced, the family members were named: Hunter, the 13-year-old star of a laser-tag video game; Maude, a 16-year-old girl fighting to pop as many bubbles as she can; their younger brother Cody who has not found his video game calling yet; Mom, a popular street fighter in her game; and Dad, a 90’s-era classic console game character who quit the business years ago. It's currently unknown whether any of these details have changed since the property was originally announced.

The pilot for Meet the Voxels has been written by Jana Petrosini (Henry Danger, Kid Danger, Game Shakers) and Sean Gill (Henry Danger, Kid Danger, Game Shakers).

Meet the Voxels represents a significant expansion of both the Entertainment Lab’s capabilities and Young’s work. To date, the Lab has been responsible for the creation and implementation of SlimeZone and The Loud House 360, and now Meet the Voxels represents an evolution of content development and creation using real-time animation technology.

Actor, writer, comedian and host Kelly Vrooman will have a role on the series.

Live-Action Avatar: The Last Airbender Netflix Series

Netflix has announced that it is set to produce a live-action series based on Nickelodeon’s mid-2000s hit animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. The new series will be made in partnership with Nickelodeon, and will air exclusively on Netflix.

Original creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko were initially onboard the project executive producers and showrunners, however, the duo left the production during summer 2020 citing creative differences.

The series will feature a culturally appropriate, non-whitewashed cast.

Dan Lin (Sherlock Holmes1 & 2, The Lego Batman Movie, ITChapters 1 & 2, the Netflix adaption of Death Note) has boarded the project as a producer under his Lin Pictures banner.

In Avatar - The Last Airbender, the world is divided into four nations; the Water Tribe, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation and the Air Nomads. Each of these are represented by a natural element for which the nation is named. The Benders have the ability to control and manipulate the element in their nation. Only the Avatar is the master of all four elements. The ruthless Fire Nation wants to conquer the world but the only bender who has enough power, the Avatar, has disappeared until now. His tribe soon discovers that Aang is the long lost Avatar. Now Katara and Sokka must safeguard Aang on his journey to master all four elements and save the world from the Fire Nation.

Konietzko and DiMartino also created a follow-up series, The Legend of Korra, that returned to the world of Avatar years after Aang’s death to follow Korra, his successor as Avatar. That series ran between 2012-2014.

The stories of both Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra have continued on in graphic novel series.

iCarly Revival

ViacomCBS' Paramount+ streaming service (currently known as CBS All Access) has ordered a revival of the wildly popular Nickelodeon comedy iCarly, with original stars Miranda Cosgrove (Carly Shay), Jerry Trainor (Spencer Shay) and Nathan Kress (Freddie Benson) all set to return.

Produced by Nickelodeon Studios for Paramount+, the new iCarly series will be aimed towards adults rather than kids and tweens.

Jay Kogen (School of Rock, The Simpsons, Frasier) and Ali Schouten (Diary of a Future President, Champions, Merry Happy Whatever) have signed on to develop the update. They also will executive produce and serve as co-showrunners.

Production is set to commence in March 2021, with the series premiering on Paramount+ later in the year.

It's currently unknown whether the new iCarly project is a reboot - as in, starting the series from scratch - or a revival, picking up where the characters are now.

Jennette McCurdy, who played Sam Puckett is currently missing from the main returning cast and there's also no sign of Gibby (Noah Munck).



Kevin Kopelow & Heath Seifert, Executive Producers/showrunners of Nickelodeon’s All That and creators/EP of the network’s Cousins For Life, are making another comedy for the ViacomCBS network.

It's understood that the pair have scored a pilot order for Warped!, a comedy set in a popular comic book store.

Kopelow and Seifert, who also created Austin & Ally for the Disney Channel and wrote on Kenan & Kel, starring a young Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell, are writing and exec producing the project, with former Paramount Network, TV Land and CMT President Kevin Kay also exec producing. Kay left Viacom in 2018.

It follows Milo, the beloved head geek and manager at a popular comic book store whose microcosm is disrupted when his boss hires the loud and excitable, Ruby. Despite their differences, the two form an unlikely alliance when they team up to create the next great superhero franchise.

ViacomCBS has applied to register the trademark for Warped!, which could mean that Nickelodeon is moving ahead with the series.

Garfield

Viacom Inc. (NASDAQ: VIA, VIA.B), through one of its subsidiaries, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Paws, Inc., the entity holding global intellectual property rights to the Garfield and the U.S. Acres (a.k.a. Orson’s Farm) franchises--including corresponding rights related to content, consumer products, and location-based experiences. The deal will see Nickelodeon develop a new Garfield animated television series, as well as new Garfield content for all platforms for a new generation of fans.

The acquisition of Garfield is part of Nickelodeon’s strategy to be the home for the biggest franchises kids and families love, and it expands Nickelodeon’s growing portfolio of influential properties that already includes SpongeBob SquarePants, PAW Patrol, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the forthcoming Blue’s Clues & You!, the first-ever SpongeBob spinoff, Kamp Koral, and all-new animated Star Trek and Paddington series.

Nickelodeon also recently revived its iconic '90s sketch series All That, as well as partnered with LEGO and YouTube influencer “Ryan,” the central figure in the online series “Ryan ToysReview”, to launch two new series, LEGO City Adventures and Ryan's Mystery Playdate.

Global merchandising rights to Garfield will be managed by Viacom Nickelodeon Consumer Products (VNCP), including the property’s existing portfolio of licensees. Garfield creator Jim Davis will continue to produce the Garfield syndicated comic strip as he has done since creating the lazy feline since 1976. The cartoon has chronicled the life of the eponymous cat, his owner Jon Arbuckle and Odie the dog, as well as various friends. Known for his love of lasagne and coffee and his disdain for Mondays, Garfield has spawned a slew of movies and TV shows - Garfield and Friends in the 1980s and '90s on CBS and the CG-animated The Garfield Show on Cartoon Network from 2009 to 2012 — and a pair of feature films, Garfield: The Movie (2004), a live-action/animated hybrid in which the corpulent cat was wryly voiced by Bill Murray (Ghostbusters), opposite Breckin Meyer’s Jon, and Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties (2006) and three straight-to-video sequels. The property has received four Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program for the animated specials Garfield on the Town, Garfield in the Rough, Garfield’s Halloween Special and Garfield’s Babes and Bullets. Garfield and Friends previously aired on Nickelodeon USA between 1997–2000.

Created by cartoonist Jim Davis, Garfield is the most widely syndicated comic strip in the world (Guinness World Records), and the franchise spawned movies, TV shows, stage shows and merchandise. Garfield has received four Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program, and Davis was inducted into the Licensing Hall of Fame in 1998.

Netflix and ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS) has announced Sharkdog, an animated series from Singaporean creator Jacinth Tan.

The 20 x 7 minute episode animated series is being produced by ViacomCBS International Studios, in partnership with Singaporean based CGI animation studio One Animation, and will premiere in 2021.

Logline: The series follows 10 year old Max and his best friend Sharkdog - half shark, half dog, all appetite. Blissfully unaware of his own strength, stealth and general sharkiness, Sharkdog often leaves a trail of chaos in his wake. But, like all good half-dogs, he's Max's BFF and Max is his.

Sharkdog is VIS' first internationally originated global animated series for Netflix. It is also the first animated series from Singapore to come out of Nickelodeon's Global Animated Shorts Program, designed to identify and develop long form original comedy-driven content for kids globally. A short-form Sharkdog series also aired on Nickelodeon South East Asia.

Legends of the Hidden Temple Reboot

In December 2019, Quibi announced that it was reviving and reimagining of Legends of the Hidden Temple, Nickelodeon's cherished 90's competition show that included teams competing against one another to retrieve “historical artifacts”, for adults. The streamer then issued a casting call for contestants in March 2020.

Now, this is where it gets tricky! Since March, the world has been getting to grips with the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. The series was then dealt another blow when Quibi announced that it was planning to closedown just months after launching.

It's currently unknown whether the series was even filmed at this point. However, if it was, Nickelodeon and Stone & Company Entertainment (Paradise Run, A Season With, The Mole), who were producing the series for Quibi will most likely not want to see the show go to waste. Keeping in mind that the contestants in the Legends of the Hidden Temple reboot are adults as opposed to kids like in the original series, the most likely place the series will end up is Paramount+, ViacomCBS' rebranded SVOD platform (currently named CBS All Access).

This new, supersized, reimagined version will preserve many of the favorite original elements of the show - the contestant-soaking Moat Crossing; Olmec, a disembodied talking stone head; and the game-culminating Temple Run, a maze full of treacherous obstacles where young adolescents would flex their physical and mental prowess - but will see them "grown up" for an audience that's grown up along with them. Instead of being filmed at Nickelodeon Studios in Orlando, Florida, the entire set will be taken out of the studio, into a jungle and scaled up with tougher challenges and bigger prizes on the line.

The original Legends of the Hidden Temple game show was originally hosted by Kirk Fogg, with Dee Bradley Baker (SpongeBob SquarePants, American Dad) providing the voice of the all-knowing Olmec. The pair returned and reprised their respective roles for a TV movie inspired by the series (with Michael Benyaer as Olmec’s human form) in 2016. It also featured elements from the show, like the Steps of Knowledge, and featured cameos from animals who lend their names to the competition teams. No word on Fogg or Baker's involvement in the new series.

Zoey 101 Reboot

Following the cast of Nickelodeon's beloved noughties series Zoey 101 reuniting on All That, Jamie Lynn Spears, who starred as Zoey Brooks in the series about a fictional boarding school - Pacific Coast Academy (PCA) - in southern California, revealed that a Zoey 101 reboot is “definitely happening”. Not much else is currently known about the project, except that the team had found a creative direction they were “all very happy with”.

Spears has hinted that the Zoey 101 reboot will either pick up with what the characters are doing now, or feature her daughter as Zoey.



Very little is currently unknown about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Next Chapter, however, ViacomCBS has applied to trademark the title under "entertainment services in the nature of continuing program series, featuring animation, comedy and drama provided through cable television, broadcast television, internet, video-on-demand, and through other forms of transmission media; providing online information in the field of entertainment concerning television programs," which suggests that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Next Chapter will be a new TMNT series, rather than the recently announced CG-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theatrical movie Nickelodeon Animation is currently producing with Point Grey Pictures - although it could be a series based on the movie. It's also not thought to be related to Netflix's Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, expected to premiere next year.

Herbivore social media sensation The Tiny Chef is bringing his culinary adventures to Nickelodeon in a brand-new series. The Tiny Chef Show (working title) will follow the talented chef as he whips up tasty ‘weshipees’ and the world’s tiniest plant-based dishes from his tree-stump home.

Produced in association with Imagine Kids+Family, Tiny Chef Productions, and Nickelodeon Animation Studio, the series will premiere on Nick’s preschool platforms in the U.S., as well as Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. channels internationally.

The Tiny Chef Show will be executive produced by Imagine Entertainment Executive Chairmen Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, Imagine Kids+Family President Stephanie Sperber, as well as Kristen Bell, Morgan Sackett, and Tiny Chef creators Rachel Larsen, Adam Reid and cinematographer Ozlem Akturk for Tiny Chef Productions.

The Tiny Chef Show marks Nickelodeon’s second project with Imagine Kids+Family, following the previously announced live-action adventure series The Astronauts. Production of The Tiny Chef Show for Nickelodeon Animation Studio is overseen by Eryk Casemiro, Senior Vice President, Nickelodeon Preschool and by Elly Kramer for Imagine Kids+Family.

Nickelodeon has inked a deal with Scooter Braun’s SB Projects to bring the musical stylings of The BeatBuds to TV with a brand-new animated preschool series based on the popular kids’ music duo. Each episode of The BeatBuds (working title) will follow the musical adventures of Jonny, Matty and the rest of the ‘Buds, and feature an original song.

Written by Evan Sinclair (Ryan’s Mystery Playdate, The Aquabats! Super Show!), The BeatBuds short-form series (10 episodes) will begin production this summer and premiere on Nickelodeon’s preschool platforms in 2021.

Formed in 2012, the BeatBuds are best friends and musical partners Jonathan Jonah and Matthew Shapiro, who have been playing together since the age of six. Their energetic shows aim to introduce young kids to the “to the pure joy and educational benefits of music.” Their modern, almost indie-rock sound also resonates with adults. Among their toddler-approved hits are the songs “Gravity,” “Sam the Garbage Man” and “When the Rain Falls Down.” The duo count Kim Kardashian West, Pink, Fergie and Braun among their famous fans.

The BeatBuds is executive produced by Scooter Braun and Scott Manson on behalf of SB Projects. Production of The BeatBuds for Nickelodeon is overseen by Eryk Casemiro, Senior Vice President, Nickelodeon Preschool.

Family, friendship and fashionable fun drive Nickelodeon’s brand-new animated preschool series, Made by Maddie (formerly Fashion Ally). Created by Paula Rosenthal and produced by Silvergate Media (Sunny Day, Peter Rabbit, The Octonauts, Hilda), the series (22 half-hour episodes) follows 8-year-old Maddie in New York City, as she uses her imagination and design ingenuity to turn every problem into a positive with the perfect fashion fix.

Nickelodeon originally planned to launch Made by Maddie on the Nick Jr. channel in September 2020. However, due to controversy about similarities between the show's characters and those in the Oscar-winning short Hair Love, Nickelodeon decided to pull it from the schedules.

In a statement to the press, Nickelodeon said: "In response, and out of respect to all voices in the conversation, we are removing the show from our schedule as we garner further insight into the creative journey of the show. We are grateful to Silvergate Media for all of their work. And we hold Matthew A. Cherry and the wonderful and inspiring Hair Love in the highest regard."

As Nickelodeon and Silvergate have invested a lot of time and money on the project, it's hard to see them just leaving the show to sit on a shelf gathering dust. Given the current situation, it's more than likely that Made By Maddie will go straight to SVOD, either on Noggin and Paramount+.

Not much is currently known about either movie, however, they're both expected to debut on Netflix in 2021!

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run

SpongeBob SquarePants, his best friend Patrick Star and the rest of the gang from Bikini Bottom hit the big screen in the first-ever all CGI SpongeBob motion picture event, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run! After SpongeBob’s beloved pet snail Gary is snail-napped, he and Patrick embark on an epic adventure to The Lost City of Atlantic City to bring Gary home. As they navigate the delights and dangers on this perilous and hilarious rescue mission, SpongeBob and his pals prove there’s nothing stronger than the power of friendship.

Based on the TV series created by Stephen Hillenburg, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run (formally titled The SpongeBob Movie: It's a Wonderful Sponge) is produced by Ryan Harris, with Stephen Hillenburg executuive producing. Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies present, in association with MRC A United Plankton Pictures production. Written and directed by Tim Hill.

SpongeBob SquarePants voice actors Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick Star), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward Tentacles), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Mr. Lawrence (Plankton), Jill Talley (Karen), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy Cheeks), Mary Jo Catlett (Mrs. Puff), and Lori Alan (Pearl) will reprise their roles for the Paramount film about the absorbent, porous and yellow creature who lives in a pineapple under the sea. Composer Hans Zimmer will also be providing the music. Awkwafina, Reggie Watts, Snoop Dogg and Keanu Reeves will guest star in the feature. An actor named Antonio Raul Corbo will be voicing young SpongeBob.

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run is the third SpongeBob SquarePants feature film, following The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie in 2004 and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water in 2015.

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run was originally intended to be released in theatres during summer 2020. However, due to the on-going COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, Nickelodeon Movies and Paramount Pictures decided to move the film to digital. The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run is slated to be released on Premium Video-on-Demand (PVOD) and CBS All Access/Paramount+ during early 2021.

Internationally, Netflix bowed the movie in most countries in November 2020.

Nickelodeon is literally bringing to life the popular animated characters from its Emmy Award-winning The Loud House with the greenlight of an all-new original live-action holiday TV movie: The Loud House: A Very Loud Christmas! (working title).

In The Loud House: A Very Loud Christmas!, Lincoln is gearing up for the ultimate Christmas, until he finds out that most of his sisters have plans to be elsewhere for the big day. Determined to remind his family that they all need to be together, Lincoln and his best friend Clyde embark on a mission to sabotage their plans and preserve the family’s holiday traditions.

Production on The Loud House: A Very Loud Christmas! feature-length TV movie was originally scheduled for summer 2020, with the film slated for a Q4 release. However, it looks like filming for the movie was postponed due to the on-going COVID-19 health emergency.

The live-action television film is written by Liz Maccie (Siren) and executive produced by Michael Rubiner (The Loud House).

Josh Fagen is overseeing for Point Grey Pictures. Paramount Pictures will handle worldwide distribution of the film.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theatrical motion picture will be directed by Jeff Rowe (Gravity Falls, Connected, Disenchantment) and written by Brendan O’Brian (Neighbors, Sorority Rising, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates).

Representing a new chapter for this continually growing entertainment franchise, the PAW Patrol feature film will be directed by animation veteran Cal Brunker (Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature; Escape From Planet Earth). Writer Mark Dindal (Wonder Park, Chicken Little, The Fox and the Hound) has confirmed that he's working on a Garfield feature film for Nickelodeon!

Not much is currently known about the new Garfield film, however, it's most likely the same movie announced by Alcon Entertainment in 2018.

CBS Sports and Nickelodeon are getting kids and families into the game with a special slime-filled presentation of the National Football League’s Wild Card game on Sunday, Jan. 10, at 4:30 p.m. (ET). The NFL Wild Card Game on Nickelodeon will feature one-of-a-kind kid-focused content and Nick-themed elements throughout, including a special halftime presentation, guest reporters and original on-field graphics, virtual filters and more. The NFL Wild Card Game on Nickelodeon will air alongside CBS Sports’ broadcast of the game on The CBS Television Network.

Play-by-play announcer Noah Eagle will be joined by CBS Sports’ analyst Nate Burleson and Nick star Gabrielle Nevaeh Green (All That, Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered) in the booth to call the NFL Wild Card Game on Nickelodeon. Additionally, Nick star Lex Lumpkin (All That, Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered) ­­­will serve as a reporter during the game. Nickelodeon’s coverage begins with “The SpongeBob SportsPants Countdown Special,” a sports-themed compilation special at 4 p.m. (ET) hosted by the Denver Broncos’ Von Miller, highlighting SpongeBob’s best sports moments and featuring pre-kickoff appearances by CBS Sports’ Jim Nantz and Tony Romo, as well as Eagle, Burleson and Green.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.--Oct. 29, 2020--Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark?, the beloved horror anthology series, returns with an all-new Midnight Society. In season two (six episodes), this new group of kids tell a terrifying tale about a curse that has been cast over their small seaside town, haunted by an all-new villain named the Shadowman.  Produced by ACE Entertainment, Are You Afraid of the Dark? premieres in 2021 on Nickelodeon.

The new members of the Midnight Society are: Luke, played by Bryce Gheisar (The Astronauts, Wonder); Jai, played by Arjun Athalye; Hanna, played by Beatrice Kitsos (Child's Play, iZombie); Gabby, played by Malia Baker (The Baby-Sitters Club); Seth, played by Dominic Mariche (The Christmas Yule Blog, A Gift to Cherish); and Connor, played by Parker Queenan (Party of Five, Andi Mack).


Season one of the reimagined limited series, which aired across three hour-long episodes in October 2019, saw a different Midnight Society group of kids enter the Carnival of Doom to face off against its evil ringmaster, Mr. Tophat.  All three parts ranked as the most co-viewed (among adults 18-49 watching with a kid 6-11) show on broadcast and TV each week and was the number-one live-action series on cable TV in all kids’ demos (2-11, 6-11 and tweens 9-14).

All three parts of Are You Afraid of the Dark? season one will air back-to-back on Friday, Oct. 30, beginning at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon. The season is also available on DVD.

Are You Afraid of the Dark? is produced by ACE Entertainment (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, The Perfect Date) with ACE founder Matt Kaplan and Spencer Berman serving as executive producers and Paul Kim as co-producer.  Jeff Wadlow (Fantasy Island, Truth or Dare) serves as executive producer and the primary director for the series. The season is written by JT Billings (Beware That Girl, Charming), who also serves are co-executive producer and showrunner.

One of the Nickelodeon’s most iconic series from the ‘90s, the original Are You Afraid of the Dark? delivered riveting stories of horror to young audiences, all from a kid’s perspective.  Are You Afraid of the Dark? is owned by DHX and was created by D.J. MacHale and Ned Kandel, who are also executive producers on the project.

Nickelodeon Unveils First Look at 'The Barbarian and the Troll'

Nickelodeon's has unveiled a super first look at the network's upcoming live-action puppet comedy series The Barbarian and the Troll as part of their 2021 on Nickelodeon promo


Announced in September under the working title Brendar the BarbarianThe Barbarian and the Troll (13 episodes) is a brand-new live-action puppet comedy series from co-creators Mike Mitchell (Trolls, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part) and expert puppeteer Drew Massey (Mutt & Stuff, Sid the Science Kid).

The series follows Evan, a bridge troll in search of adventure, and Brendar, a fierce female warrior, on a quest to defeat the evil wizard who that rules over their land of Gothmoria, who has imprisoned her brother. The series is being filmed at North Shore Studios in Vancouver, Canada. Filming commenced on October 19th and is expected to wrap on February 12th, 2021.

In The Barbarian and the Troll, Evan, a troll who has never ventured out from under his bridge, decides to explore the world for the first time in search of a great adventure and inspiration to fulfill his dream of becoming a singer.  He soon meets Brendar, Gothmoria’s most feared and revered warrior, and joins in her quest across treacherous terrain and confrontations with bizarre and magical creatures.  Throughout their journey and encounters with an eclectic puppet cast of wacky characters, they both learn that they’re better together and form an unbreakable friendship.

The Barbarian and the Troll is set to premiere during early 2021 on Nickelodeon.


The Barbarian and the Troll is co-created, written and executive produced by Mitchell, who also serves as director, and Massey, who also serves as lead puppeteer.  Production of The Barbarian and the Troll is overseen for Nickelodeon by Shauna Phelan, Senior Vice President, Live-Action Scripted Content; and Zack Olin, Senior Vice President, Live Action.

Puppeteer, actor and director Allan Trautman (Disney's DinosaursEarth to NedThe Muppets) will voice two characters on the show: a kooky wizard and the commander of an army of the undead.

How Nickelodeon May Present 'Kids’ Choice Awards 2021'

A look at how Nickelodeon may present Kids' Choice Awards in 2021.


Back in March, due to the global COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, Nickelodeon was forced to postpone Kids’ Choice Awards 2020, which, set to be hosted by Chance the Rapper, was set to take place on Sunday, March 22, at the Forum in Inglewood, California. Rather than canceling the network's tentpole event, Nickelodeon opted for a virtually-produced filmed-at-home special, Kids' Choice Awards 2020: Celebrate Together, which was hosted by Nickelodeon alum Victoria Justice (Zoey 101VictoriousFun Size), and saw winners receive their blimps at home. Although the show was a lot more intimate than viewers were used to, the show still managed to feature special guests and lots of slime.

Update (30/12) - Nickelodeon has confirmed plans to host Kids' Choice Awards 2021!: The Kids' Choice Awards 2021 logo has yet to be unveiled:


Although we are slowly but surely returning to "normal", we still have a long way to go before we can attend events like we used to, with most tours and events not scheduled to start up again until the middle of next year. Taking most things into consideration, below are three ways that Nickelodeon could host Kids' Choice Awards 2021.

The Studio Option: In the past few months, Nickelodeon in Brazil and Mexico have held localised versions of Kids' Choice Awards. Like the U.S./Global version, Nick's localised KCA events are usually held in big arenas in front of thousands of fans. However, this year, Nickelodeon Brazil and Nickelodeon Mexico drastically scaled down their KCAs, hosting them in a studio rather than arena with much smaller sets and with no audience. To make sure only a limited number of people were in close contact with each other, each show featured a mix of winners accepting their blimps in person and via the internet. Although much smaller, each event still managed to feature celebrity guests - in person and virtually - as well as big slime stunts. I would say that, the way things are going, this is probably the best option for the 2021 Kids' Choice Awards if Nickelodeon still wants to host them in March/April 2021. The only thing missing from the studio versions of the Kids' Choice Awards were live audiences. However, this could be remedied by Nickelodeon running a contest to allow viewers to attend the awards virtually - Britain's Got Talent recently featured 'virtual audiences', and yes, whilst looking like something from Black Mirror, it did sort of bring some normalcy back.

The Virtual Option: As previously mentioned, Nickelodeon postponed their annual slimefest, shifting it to a 'filmed-at-home' special instead, based on Nickelodeon in Germany, Switzerland and Austria's Nickelodeon Kids‘ Choice Awards 2020: Deutschland, Österreich, Schweiz. This was a ratings success for Nickelodeon, and whilst we are still slowly getting back to normal, could be the option that Nick goes with.

The Postponement Option: Like I mentioned above, a lot of events aren't planning to start up again until mid-2021. If Nickelodeon wants to have a big show with a large live audience, the network could be planning to postpone the event until later in the year. However, at the moment, there is no certainly of how things will be next year. With the virus coming back in waves, it's hard to pin-point a perfect date to have it. There are a few vaccines coming onto market which hopefully will help, but this all depends on how long their efficiently lasts, how widely available they are and how many people take them.

In my opinion, we probably won't be seeing a "normal"Kids' Choice Awards ceremony until 2022, so there's either a good chance we'll either see the studio option or virtual option for KCA 2021.

All three options also apply to Nickelodeon SlimeFest. Like KCA 2020, SlimeFest 2020 was also canceled. There are plans to host SlimeFest again in 2021, however, this all depends on how safe it is to do so. This could see Nickelodeon follow in Nickelodeon Italy's footsteps by hosting an in-studio SlimeFest festival, which would then air on Nickelodeon.

These are just my thoughts. The finalized version of Kids’ Choice Awards 2021 could look totally different than the options I've listed above. Tell me what you think in the comments below or let me know on social media!
