Nickelodeon estrena la serie de animación "La leyenda de Isla Nublar"

El lunes 30 de noviembre a las 13:55h Nickelodeon estrena La leyenda de Isla Nublar, una nueva serie de animación precuela de la exitosa película de Jurassic World, que sigue de cerca las frenéticas aventuras a las que se enfrentan el experto en conducta animal Owen Grady y la Subdirectora de Operaciones del parque Jurassic World, Claire Dearing. BURBANK, Calif.–Nov. 10, 2020–Nickelodeon is partnering with national nonprofit organization Baby2Baby this holiday season for the first-ever Blue’s Clues & You!“Blue Friday,” dedicated to celebrating families, on Friday, Nov. 20. In honor of “Blue Friday,” Nickelodeon will make a donation to Baby2Baby to support their mission of helping kids and families who need it most. The net will also premiere all-new Blue’s Clues & You! episodes filled with family fun, featuring Josh’s (Josh Dela Cruz) “lola,” his grandmother (Carolyn Fe), and his cousins Steve (Steve Burns) and Joe (Donovan Patton).

Baby2Baby provides children living in poverty, ages 0-12 years, with diapers, clothing and all the basic necessities that every child deserves. Throughout the COVID-19 (coronavirus) crisis, they have provided over 40 million essential items including diapers, formula, soap, shampoo, masks, hand sanitizer, baby food and more to some of the most vulnerable children across the country impacted by the pandemic.


Viewers can get into the holiday spirit with Josh and his family with two brand-new Blue’s Clues & You! premieres:
  • On Friday, Nov. 20, at 11 a.m. (ET/PT), fans will meet Josh’s “lola” in “Blue’s Big Baking Show,” as Josh and Blue spend the day making bibingka, a cake from the Philippines that is “masarap” (delicious)!
  • In the holiday-themed episode, “Blue’s Night Before Christmas,” premiering Friday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m. (ET/PT), and directed by Burns, Josh and Blue play Blue’s Clues to figure out what Blue wants for Christmas, decorate with Steve, help Joe wrap presents, and celebrate a night full of holiday traditions.
Following the linear premiere of “Blue’s Night Before Christmas,” the episode will be available to watch on Noggin, Nickelodeon’s interactive learning service for preschoolers, beginning Tuesday, Dec. 8. Noggin will continue to spread cheer with a holiday hub featuring over 50 pieces of festive long and short-form content, including: holiday-themed shorts; full-length episodes of hit series PAW Patrol, Bubble Guppies, Peppa Pig and more; games; play-along videos; and e-books.


“Blue’s Night Before Christmas” is part of Nickelodeon’s “Nickmas” holiday-themed lineup which features joyous premieres and specials from the network’s live-action, animation and preschool series, including all-new episodes of hit series The Casagrandes, Danger Force, All That and more, plus classic fan-favorite holiday episodes of Rugrats, PAW Patrol, SpongeBob SquarePants and The Loud House.

How a Canadian actress is helping kids connect with Filipino culture on U.S. TV

Carolyn Fe appears as beloved grandma Lola on Blue’s Clues & You


Carolyn Fe had no clue her heritage would be under the spotlight after stepping out of her audition for Blue's Clues & You!

The Nickelodeon remake of the popular 1996 educational series Blue's Clues is part of the growing trend of inclusive kids programming that is more reflective of its diverse audience.

The reboot premiered last year with new host Joshua "Josh" Dela Cruz, a Filipino-American. His nationality was a mystery on the show until the preview of an upcoming episode that introduced a new character named Lola, Josh's grandmother, played by Fe.

"I don't know when the idea to bring Lola came, when it came and who decided," says Fe. 

"But I am very grateful because this representation really takes us away from the stereotype that everybody else has given us as Filipinos."

The Canadian actress, who calls Toronto home but is now in Montreal staying with her parents during the pandemic, says the show will be an upfront "grounded representation" featuring Tagalog language, food, how the young respect their elders, and other aspects of the Filipino culture at home. She says Lola will be a recurring character.

'We've been silent for so long'
Many Filipinos are immigrants to faraway lands who pride themselves on integrating into new societies and see that as part of who they are. But according to Fe, Blue's Clues & You! pulls back the curtain on the subtleties of what it means to be Filipino and showcases a culture that is rarely noticed.

Fe can relate. She was born in the Philippines but her family then moved to the U.S looking for a better life. They immigrated to Canada when she was eight and settled in Montreal. She moved to Toronto to further her acting career. 

The promo for the first episode featuring Fe showcases Dela Cruz greeting Lola with a "mano," a Filipino gesture signifying respect for elders, before sitting down to eat bibingka, a traditional rice cake from the Philippines.

Carlos Bustamante, who spent years hosting YTV's The Zone in the early 2000s, knows full well what the introduction of Fe's character means to Blue's Clues & You. He remembers when he was the Filipino-Canadian face for a generation of kids.  

Depicting Filipino tradition and language as a normal, everyday way of life is what Bustamante calls "the most important thing" on the show, and he says something he heard Fe say in an interview resonates with him. 

"We've been silent for so long," he quotes her as saying.

Bustamante recalls a time when kids programming introduced different cultures by explaining them to their young viewers.

"The centre is still, for lack of a better term, North American Caucasian kids ... which is why the opposite thing is explained," he told CBC News. But Blues Clues & You! is different, he says.

The "matter of fact" way of depicting culture on the show is what makes differences seem normal rather than emphasizing "otherness," and he says these small acknowledgements mean everything to Filipinos.

'A beloved figure'
"Lola [is] coming in as a beloved figure. Everybody loves their grandmother. That's who she is," Bustamante says.

"To the kids watching, [they say] 'Oh that's Josh's grandma. He loves her like how I love my grandma.' That's a doorway to understanding culture."

The moment Fe clued in to the significance of the show for Filipinos was when she received widespread applause from Filipinos across North America and worldwide, including in the Philippines.

Yet, she says, the work is never done. 

She says, while movements like Black Lives Matter still have their own fight, "[Filipinos] now have a platform to work with."

The Real Life Event That Inspired 'Avatar: The Last Airbender'

The early concept for Avatar: The Last Airbender was partly inspired by a real-life shipwreck that happened in the early 1900s in Antarctica.


Avatar: The Last Airbender creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko were inspired by a real-life historic event while they were in the early stages of developing the beloved animated series. Konietzko and DiMartino, who met at school and shared a dream of creating an animated television show, decided to collaborate and come up with a pitch for Nickelodeon. They knew they needed an idea that appealed to and was appropriate for children – either a show about children or non-human creatures that children could relate to.

Konietzko and DiMartino started sketching. As DiMartino recalls in Avatar Spirits, a short documentary on the making of Avatar, “we spread out all of our ideas on the table … and one of the drawings was something Bryan had done.” Among the first sketches by Bryan Konietzko was one of a young, bald boy with two companions: a cyclops robot monkey with an arrow on its head and a polar bear dog who walked upright on its hind legs. The polar bear dog became Appa (though the idea was later repurposed for Naga in Avatar: The Legend of Korra) and the robot monkey became Momo. The creators decided to take the arrow from the monkey’s head and put it on the boy – and thus the boy became Aang, the Avatar.

But these characters needed a world and a story, so DiMartino thought of Antarctica. Specifically, he thought of Ernest Shackleton’s Antarctic expedition on the Endurance. Ernest Shackleton led several British expeditions to Antarctica in the early 1900s, but the part of Shackleton’s story that DiMartino seemed most taken with was the element of survival. In 1915, the Endurance sank in Antarctica, stranding its 28-man crew. Shackleton and his crew journeyed by foot and boat for months until they were rescued – all of them. No one from the Endurance died on that expedition. “I had been watching documentaries about Shackleton’s crazy Antarctic expedition,” DiMartino says in Avatar Spirits, “and the ship getting caught in the ice and all these guys surviving against all odds.”


DiMartino and Konietzko were intrigued by the idea that humans could manage to survive the harshest climates on Earth. Konietzko was brainstorming when he was at yoga “drenched in sweat,” as he recalls in Avatar Spirits, “and I thought of combining his Shackleton idea with this kid.” The connection between Ernest Shackleton’s Antarctic voyage and Avatar is most prominently reflected in the inciting event of the series. In Avatar’s pilot, “The Boy in the Iceberg,” Katara and Sokka discover Aang, who had – against all odds – survived being trapped in an iceberg for a hundred years, not unlike Shackleton’s men who survived the cold and unforgiving Antarctic.

Avatar’s characters, story, world, and concept resonate as much with audiences today as they did when Avatar: The Legend of Aang first aired, but imagining the idea of Avatar: The Last Airbender coming from an actual historical event seems strange – especially an event that likely wouldn’t interest children. And Konietzko’s original concept for Aang, Appa, and Momo is very different from the finalized versions. But once the two ideas melded together and gave Konietzko and DiMartino a solid starting point, the rest of the award-winning show came together in a masterfully created and produced work of children’s animation.

Toph’s Rock Armor Really Wasn’t Supposed To Have Eye Holes in 'Avatar: The Last Airbender'

Toph's season 2 rock armor didn't originally have eye holes, seeing as Toph is blind, but an animation error found its way into the aired episode.


Avatar: The Last Airbender's creators admitted that they made a mistake while animating Toph Beifong's rock armor in season 2. In season 2, episode 9, "Bitter Work," Toph trains Aang in Earthbending by encasing herself in rocks and charging at him. If Aang could master an Earthbender's mentality of meeting an obstacle head on, he would be able to push her back. Fans were quick to notice that Toph's rock armor had eye holes, even though she is blind and wouldn't need them.

Toph's blindness never held her back from becoming the greatest Earthbender in the Avatar universe. She learned to Earthbend from the original masters of the art, badgermoles, and defeated several formidable opponents throughout the series. Her seismic sense allowed her to 'see' everything around her and anticipate others' movements, and she even created an entirely new form of bending: Metalbending. Her tough demeanor and ability to wait and listen while Earthbending made her the perfect teacher for Aang.

Toph uses her rock armor in one of her first training exercises with Aang. In the scene, her armor features a hole over her eyes, despite her blindness making such a gap pointless (and potentially dangerous). In the book Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Art of the Animated Series, creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko explained that the eye hole was simply an error that occurred during the animation process: the hole was intended to be over her mouth, not her eyes.


One of the first designs for Toph's armor took Toph's blindness into consideration and omitted the eye hole, instead including a hole over her mouth so she would still be able to breathe. According to DiMartino and Konietzko, the mistake came when "the animation was drawn so that the hole appeared over her eyes." The crew missed the error when they were revising the episode, so it ended up in the final version of the animation. Some fans speculated that it was Toph joking about her blindness, as she often did around other members of the Gaang. However, this small passage from Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Art of the Animated Series confirms that it truly was a mistake.

Fortunately, this mistake did not occur the next time Toph uses armor in Avatar: The Last Airbender. When she, Suki, and Sokka take down the Fire Nation's airships in the series finale, Toph covers herself in metal armor to protect herself from the Firebenders steering the ship. This particular suit of armor doesn't have any eye holes in it, showing that the animators learned from their initial mistake and adapted their design accordingly.

The pilot of Avatar: The Last Airbender can be watched here, and the recently released second printing of Avatar: The Last Airbender — The Art of the Animated Series is now available from Dark Horse. The follow up, The Legend of Korra: The Art of the Animated Series-Book One: Air, will receive a second reprint in February 2021, also from Dark Horse.

The Nickelodeon UK Network's ratings were a bit of a mixed bag again this week, according to BARB data. Ratings were down for Nickelodeon and Nicktoons compared to the previous week (Nov. 9-15). Danger Force also continues to do well.

Nick News Mini: Netflix Indonesia will add all four seasons ("Books") of The Legend of Korra to its programming library on Tuesday 15th December 2020! The news follows Netflix Indonesia adding Avatar: The Last Airbender, the series Korra is based on, in August. Additionally, Nickelodeon Movies and Paramount Pictures' theatrical movie Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging (2008), based on the young adult novels Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging (1999) will be added to the platform on Tuesday 1st December 2020.

Sinopsis Film Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, Upaya Gadis Remaja Dapatkan Pujaan Hati

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Film Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging akan tayang di Netflix mulai besok, Selasa (1/12/2020).

Film bergenre komedi romantis ini rilis perdana pada 2008 dan merupakan besutan sutradara Gurinder Chanda.

Diproduksi Nickelodeon Movies, Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging menampilkan Georgia Groome, Alan Davies, Karen Taylor, Aaron Johnson, dan Eleanor Tomlinson sebagai pemeran utama.

Film Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging mengikuti kisah Georgia Nicholson (Georgia Groome), gadis 14 tahun yang sedang mengalami gejolak masa remaja.

Georgia bersahabat dengan Jas (Eleanor Tomlinson), Ellen (Manjeeven Grewal), serta Rosie (Georgia Henshaw).

Mereka menamai persahabatan itu dengan sebutan geng Ace.

Sementara Georgia sendiri justru harus menelan kekecewaan ketika mengetahui Robbie menjalin hubungan dengan Lindsay (Kimberley Nixon), kakak kelasnya yang populer di sekolah.

Namun, Georgia tidak menyerah.

Nickelodeon is expanding the world of the number-one kids’ series, Henry Danger, with the launch of Danger Force, a brand-new original live-action spinoff premiering Monday 16th November 2020 at 19:00 on Nickelodeon Poland (Polska)!

Created and executive produced by Christopher J. Nowak (Henry Danger, Sam & Cat), the new series stars two of the most beloved characters from Henry Danger, “Ray/Captain Man” (Cooper Barnes) and “Schwoz” (Michael D. Cohen), and introduces four new superheroes-in-training as they team up to fight crime in their town of Swellview. Danger Force (13 episodes) is produced by Barnes and Jace Norman (Henry Danger), and production for the series is currently underway.

Following launch, new episodes of Danger Force will continue to air weekdays at 19:00 on Nickelodeon Polska.

Leading up to the premiere of Danger Force, Nick Polska will premiere the series finale of Henry Danger (Niebezpieczny Henryk) on Tuesday 10th November 2020 from 18:45.

“A key part of our content strategy is to grow original franchises like Henry Danger by expanding their worlds through new characters and more high-stakes adventures,” said Brian Robbins, President, Kids & Family Entertainment, ViacomCBS Domestic Media Networks. “We’re spinning off our Henry Danger mega-hit into Danger Force, where a new set of characters join members of the original cast for a wholly new take on this long-running series.”

In Danger Force, four kids--Chapa (Havan Flores), Miles (Terrence Little Gardenhigh), Mika (Dana Heath) and Bose (Luca Luhan)--are recruited to attend Swellview Academy for the Gifted (SW.A.G. for short), a school conceived by Captain Man and brought to life by Schwoz, after having been accidentally mutated in the fight to save Swellview. While there, the kids must learn to harness their frequently troublesome and sometimes uncontrollable superpowers as they begin to fight crime. Despite the dangerous circumstances of their new lives, the superheroes must keep their real identities a secret from both from their families and the villains who are out to destroy them.

Danger Force’s four brand-new superheroes-in-training were introduced in the final episodes of Henry Danger. Henry Danger is Nick’s longest running live-action sitcom, with 128 episodes across five seasons. For 2019 and year to date, the series is the number-one show for Kids 6-11 on all TV.


Production of Danger Force is overseen for Nickelodeon by Shauna Phelan, Senior Vice President, Live-Action Scripted Content. Omar Camacho serves as Nickelodeon’s Executive in Charge of Production for the series.

Danger Force made its world premiere on Nickelodeon USA on Saturday, March 28, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT).
