Nickelodeon’s ‘The Casagrandes’ Moves In at No. 1 in Key Latin American Territories

Nickelodeon Latin America (Latinoamérica) announced that the premiere of The Casagrandes on Friday, April 3, 2020 secured the No. 1 spot in key markets in the region! The show topped rankings on Nickelodeon in Argentina, Mexico and Brazil, including all kids pay TV channels with kids 7-14 (according to Kantar IBOPE Media). Additionally, the show’s short-form content on Nick Play, the network’s app, generated over 130K video views.


The new series follows the adventures of a multi generational Mexican-American family and is a spinoff of the Emmy Award-winning The Loud House. The Casagrandes tells the story of 11-year-old Ronnie Anne, who moves to the city with her mom and older brother to live with their big, loving family: The Casagrandes. The series is locally titled Los Casagrandes in Latin America and Os Casagrandes in Brazil.

The series debuted as part of Nickelodeon Latinoamérica's ABRILÍSIMO programming stunt, which also includes the launch of the all-new show It's Pony along with new episodes of Noobees season two and Henry Danger.


The show airs Fridays at 6 p.m. in Mexico, 3 p.m. in Colombia, 4 p.m. in Venezuela and Chile, 19:30 (7:30 p.m.) in Argentina and 18:00 (6 p.m.) in Brazil (Brasil) on Nickelodeon Latin America.

Nickelodeon Latinoamérica anunció que el estreno de Los Casagrandes el pasado 3 de abril, alcanzó el lugar #1 en algunos territorios de la región, de acuerdo a datos de Kantar Ibope Media.

La nueva serie animada de Nickelodeo ocupó el lugar #1 en Argentina, México y Brasil, incluyendo todos los canales de niños 7-14 de TV paga. Además, el contenido de formato corto del programa en la app de Nick Play, generó más de 130,000 vistas.

In a very special show on Easter Sunday (12th April), Nickelodeon hosted the third annual Nickelodeon Kids‘ Choice Awards: Deutschland, Österreich, Schweiz, Nickelodeon Germany (Deutschland), Switzerland (Schweiz) and Austria's (Österreich) localised version of Nickelodeon's 2020 Kids' Choice Awards! Under the motto KCAs 2020 – Zusammen Zuhause (KCAs 2020 - Together at Home), hosts Lisa & Lena and Jan Köppen (Ninja Warrior Germany) welcomed viewers into their homes. Using home-made videos, they led viewers through this year's very unique awards ceremony, where the kids had the chance to vote for their favourite stars across ten categories until Sunday 22nd March 22 2020.


After the big show at Europa-Park, Germany's largest amusement park had to be cancelled due to the global COVID-19 (aka coronavirus) outbreak, the Nickelodeon team, together with presenters, special guests, the winners of this year's much-coveted orange-blimp awards and performers put on a very unique awards show, which took place entirely from home - from the living rooms, home offices, children's rooms, gardens and home studios of the crew and the stars! The show helped Nickelodeon to highlight to kids and young people at home that, especially in the current situation: You are not alone. Because we are also at home right now.

Nickelodeon Kids‘ Choice Awards 2020: Deutschland, Österreich, Schweiz opened with a creative music performance by presenters Lisa & Lena and Jan Köppen, in which household objects played a special role. Highlights of the most extraordinary Kids' Choice Awards in the entire history of Nickelodeon included exclusive unplugged performances by Nico Santos ("Like I Love You“), Lena (who performed a medley of "Satellite"& "Thank You“, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of "Satellite"), Rea Garvey („Kiss Me“) and LEA („Treppenhaus“).

In spite of the current situation, Nickelodeon's world-famous slimming's were not to be missed in the From Home production - in a creative way, the stars took this into their own hands. The Voice Kids Coach Sasha had just as much fun with the green goo as Freshtorge and Favourite Social Media Star winner Julia Beautx, who even sat in a slime bath.

The winners of the coveted blimps (orange zeppelins) were once again decided by kids via online voting. This time Lena won the most prizes, picking up three blimp awards: Lieblings-Ohrwurm (Favourite Earworm; for the song "Better" featuring Nico Santos), Lieblings-Cast (Favourite Cast; for being part of The Voice Kids Coaches) and Lieblings-Sängerin (Favourite Singer). Julien Bam accepted the award for Lieblings-„Big Kid“ (Favourite "Big Kid"), whilst Thomas Müller was voted Lieblings-Fußballer (Favourite Footballer), and was delighted with his KCA debut!

A very special highlight this year was the "Together For Good" Award: Presenter Sylvie Meis received a very special kind of slime shower and presented the award for Special Social Commitment to Riccardo Simonetti for his commitment to tolerance, equal rights and anti-bullying and exclusion, including serving as ambassador for "Youth Against Aids"("Jugend gegen Aids") and his work for UNICEF. And Riccardo also experienced his own slimy surprise while he was accepting the award. Because: Nickelodeon slimes the ones they love!

With a touching KCA version of Fargo's song "Gutes Gefühl" and a KCA All Stars music video to go with it, including the cast of Spotlight and Marcus & Martinus, this year's Kids' Choice Awards thanked the fans and encouraged them to dance along in front of their screens at home. Am Ostersonntag wurden die diesjährigen Nickelodeon Kids‘ Choice Awards: Deutschland, Österreich, Schweiz in einer ganz besonderen Showproduktion vergeben. Unter dem Motto KCAs 2020 – Zusammen Zuhause begrüßten die Moderatoren Lisa & Lena und Jan Köppen die Zuschauerinnen und Zuschauer bei sich zuhause. In selbst gedrehten Home Videos führten sie gemeinsam durch die einzigartige Preisverleihung, bei der die Kids bis zum 22. März 2020 für ihre Lieblingsstars in zehn Kategorien voten konnten.

Nach der durch das Coronavirus bedingten Absage der großen Show im Europa-Park hat das Nickelodeon-Team zusammen mit Moderatoren, Laudatoren, Gewinnern und Performern in einer Produktionspremiere eine Preisverleihung kreiert, die vollständig von Zuhause stattfand – aus den Home Offices, Wohn- und Kinderzimmern, Gärten und Heimstudios der Crew und der Stars. Gerade in der aktuellen Situation möchte Nickelodeon den Kindern und Jugendlichen zuhause zeigen: Ihr seid nicht allein. Denn wir sind auch gerade zuhause.

Eröffnet wurde die Show mit einer kreativen Musik-Performance der Moderatoren Lisa & Lena und Jan Köppen, in der Haushaltsgegenstände eine besondere Rolle spielten. Highlights der außergewöhnlichsten Kids‘ Choice Awards in der gesamten Nickelodeon-Geschichte waren unter anderem die exklusiven Unplugged-Performances von Nico Santos („Like I Love You“), Lena (Medley aus „Satellite & „Thank You“, zum zehnjährigen Jubiläum von „Satellite“), Rea Garvey („Kiss Me“) sowie LEA („Treppenhaus“).

Trotz widriger Umstände durften auch bei der Von-Zuhause-Produktion die traditionellen Slimings nicht fehlen – auf kreative Art und Weise nahmen das die Stars dieses Mal selbst in die Hand. The Voice Kids Coach Sasha hatte mit dem grünen Glibber genau so viel Spaß wie Freshtorge und Lieblings-Social-Media-Star Gewinnerin Julia Beautx, die sogar in einer Slime-Badewanne saß.

Über die Vergabe der heiß begehrten Blimps (orange Zeppeline) entschieden im Vorfeld einzig und allein wieder die Kids per Online-Voting. Die meisten Preise räumte dieses Mal Lena ab: Mit drei Awards für den Lieblings-Ohrwurm (für den Song „Better“ mit Nico Santos), Lieblings-Cast (als Teil der The Voice Kids Coaches) sowie als Lieblings-Sängerin. Julien Bam nahm den Preis für das Lieblings-Big-Kid entgegen, Thomas Müller wurde zum Lieblings-Fußballer gewählt und freute sich über seine KCA-Premiere.

Ein ganz besonderes Highlight war dieses Mal der „Together For Good“ Award: Laudatorin Sylvie Meis ließ eine Schleimdusche der besonderen Art über sich ergehen und präsentierte den Award für besonderes gesellschaftliches Engagement an Riccardo Simonetti für seinen Einsatz für Toleranz, Gleichberechtigung und gegen Mobbing und Ausgrenzung, unter anderem als Botschafter für „Jugend gegen Aids“ und seine Arbeit für UNICEF. Und auch Riccardo erlebte sein slimiges Wunder, während er sich über den Preis freute. Denn: We slime the ones we love!

Mit einer berührenden KCA-Version von Fargos Song „Gutes Gefühl“ und einem KCA-All-Stars-Musikvideo dazu, unter anderem mit dem Spotlight-Cast und Marcus & Martinus, bedankten sich die Kids‘ Choice Awards in diesem Jahr bei den Fans und animierten zum Mittanzen vor den Bildschirmen zuhause. „Denn Du brauchst nur ein gutes Gefühl dabei…!“

Erstausstrahlung der Show war am Sonntag, 12.04.2020 um 19 Uhr bei Nick.

Es war eine Preisverleihung der anderen Art. Bei den Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 2020 wurde viel "geslimt" - allerdings von Zuhause.

Den Spaß konnte die Corona-Krise den Stars und den Fans der alljährlich stattfindenden Kids' Choice Awards Deutschland, Österreich, Schweiz nicht nehmen. Wie jedes Jahr wurde bei der Preisverleihung des Senders Nickelodeon gesungen, gelacht, "geslimt" und gewonnen. Mit einem Unterschied: Nach der Absage der großen Show im Europa-Park in Rust wurde die gesamte Veranstaltung am Ostersonntag (12. April) unter dem Motto "KCAs 2020 - Zusammen Zuhause" aus den heimischen vier Wänden übertragen.

Lena Meyer-Landrut sticht alle aus

Die Influencer-Zwillinge Lisa und Lena (17) sowie Moderator Jan Köppen (37) führten mithilfe von selbstgedrehten Home-Videos durch die Veranstaltung, bei der sowohl Laudatoren, Preisträger und Performer übers Internet zugeschaltet wurden. Aus ihren Wohnzimmern meldeten sich unter anderem Nico Santos (27) und Rea Garvey (46). Sie performten einzigartige Unplugged-Versionen ihrer Hits "Like I Love You" und "Kiss Me".

Die Preisträger kamen aber auch zuhause nicht um das traditionelle "Sliming" herum - und zeigten dabei selbst großes Engagement. Julia Beautx (20), die Siegerin in der Kategorie "Lieblings-Social-Media-Star", legte sich sogar in eine komplett mit grünem Glibber gefüllte Badewanne. Über die meisten "Blimps" - so wird der Kids' Choice Award genannt - konnte sich Sängerin Lena Meyer-Landrut (28, "Better") freuen. Sie siegte in den Kategorien "Lieblings-Ohrwurm" (mit Nico Santos), "Lieblings-Cast" (mit der "The Voice Kids"-Jury) und "Lieblings-Sängerin". Weitere Preise gingen unter anderem an YouTuber Julien Bam (31) und FC-Bayern-Star Thomas Müller (30).

Eine besondere Auszeichnung erhielt Entertainer und Autor Riccardo Simonetti (27, "Raffi und sein pinkes Tutu"). Von Moderatorin Sylvie Meis (42) bekam er den "Together For Good"-Award für sein gesellschaftliches Engagement. Der 27-Jährige ist Botschafter für "Jugend gegen Aids" und arbeitet für das Kinderhilfsnetzwerk UNICEF. Er selbst bedankte sich für seinen "Blimp" auf der Social-Media-Plattform Instagram - mitsamt eines Videos, in dem er mit Slime übergossen wird.

Neben Performances für die Zuschauer gab es für die Stars natürlich auch die berüchtigten Blimps, die per Fan-Abstimmung vergeben wurden. So durfte sich beispielsweise Lena Meyer-Landrut über gleich drei Preise freuen: Als Teil des Lieblings-Casts für die „The Voice Kids 2020“-Coaches, als Lieblingssängerin sowie für den Lieblings-Ohrwurm. Unter den glücklichen Gewinnern war unter anderem auch Julia Beautx als Lieblings-Social-Media-Star, Thomas Müller als Lieblings-Fußballer und HeyMoritz & HeyHorse staubten den orangefarbenen Zeppelin als Lieblings-Duo ab.

Collectibles Startup Mighty Jaxx Scores Additional $3.2m in Pre-Series A Round; To Expand Nickelodeon Collectibles Program

Singapore’s Mighty Jaxx, a startup that designs and manufactures collectibles and lifestyle products, has announced that it has raised an additional S$4.5 million (US$3.2 million) to round out its pre-series A round.


The investment, which was led by Korea’s KB Investment, pushes the company’s total capital raised to over S$6.6 million (US$4.7 million), according to a statement. Participating investors include existing backer SGInnovate and US-based VC Greycroft Partners through the GC VR Gaming Tracker Fund, which is focused on VR, augmented reality, video games, and e-sports.

Mighty Jaxx plans to funnel the new funds into the development of its proprietary technology platform called MightyVerse, which it first started to build after securing its first tranche of funding last year.

With the platform, Mighty Jaxx aims to leverage Singapore’s GovTech OpenCert program to allow it to issue permanent and tamper-resistant certificates to each of its collectibles. Singapore-based platform for designer toys and collectibles Mighty Jaxx International has raised a funding of S$4.5 million ($3 million) led by South Korea’s KB Investment to conclude its pre-Series A funding round closed at a total amount of S$7 million.

The new tranche of funding was also joined by existing investor SGInnovate, as well as LA based VC Greycroft Partners, through the GC VR Gaming Tracker Fund, an investment fund dedicated to supporting companies across the virtual reality, augmented reality, video game and e-sport sectors.

The latest capital infusion comes a year after the initial investment of s$2.15 million, which was led by Eight Mercatus, a home-grown venture builder and startup growth platform. The funding was used to develop the first iteration of its patent-pending tech platform, MightyVerse, blending the physical and digital worlds.

The fresh injection of funds from KBI and Greycroft will help Mighty Jaxx further develop MightyVerse, Mighty Jaxx’s proprietary technology platform.

The financing equips the company with additional firepower as it ramps up its production for the second half of 2020 with the onboarding of heavyweight entertainment companies, Hasbro and ViacomCBS’s Nickelodeon (“Nickelodeon”), on new global licensing deals to produce collectibles from Hasbro and Nickelodeon’s umbrella of globally recognisable properties including Transformers and Spongebob Squarepants.

KB Investment is a subsidiary of South Korean financial giant KB Holding. The firm has been investing in around 5 Southeast Asian companies a year since 2013, the fund will strengthen its foothold in the region.

Last year, it formed a joint venture fund with MDI Ventures, the corporate venture arm of the country’s largest telco operator Telkom Indonesia.

KB Holdings counts as one of the largest financial groups in Korea, claiming $400 billion AUM. The group presides over numerous subsidiaries and assets including KB Kookmin Bank, KB Kookmin Card, KB Investment & Securities, and KB Life Insurance.

Singapore’s Mighty Jaxx, a startup that designs and manufactures collectibles and lifestyle products, said it has raised an additional S$4.5 million (US$3.2 million) to round out its pre-series A round.

The investment, which was led by Korea’s KB Investment, pushes the company’s total capital raised to over S$6.6 million (US$4.7 million), according to a statement. Participating investors include existing backer SGInnovate and US-based VC Greycroft Partners through the GC VR Gaming Tracker Fund, which is focused on VR, augmented reality, video games, and e-sports.

Mighty Jaxx plans to funnel the new funds into the development of its proprietary technology platform called MightyVerse, which it first started to build after securing its first tranche of funding last year.

With the platform, Mighty Jaxx aims to leverage Singapore’s GovTech OpenCert program to allow it to issue permanent and tamper-resistant certificates to each of its collectibles. Mighty Jaxx, which makes licensed collectibles, has raised 4.5 million Singapore dollars (about $3.2 million) in funding for MightyVerse, its platform for tech-enabled figures. Led by the investment arm of KB Financial Group, one of South Korea’s largest banks, the round also included participation from Greycroft Partners’ gaming fund GC VR Gaming Tracker Fund and returning investor SG Innovate.

This brings Mighty Jaxx’s total pre-Series A funding to about $4.7 million, with part of the new capital also earmarked to develop products from its new licensing deals with Hasbro and Nickelodeon.

Founded in 2012, Mighty Jaxx’s other licensing deals including partnerships with Cartoon Network, Warner Brothers, DC Comics, Looney Tunes and Sesame Street. It raised its first round of funding last July to develop MightyVerse. Products integrated with the platform have already launched, and Mighty Jaxx’s goal is to ship five million units this year, with its next big release, a collaboration with Toei Animation’s popular anime “One Piece,” to take place within the next two months.

The development of MightyVerse was incubated when Mighty Jaxx took part in Ubisoft’s Entrepreneurs’ Lab last year. Jackson Aw, founder and CEO of Mighty Jaxx, told TechCrunch that MightyVerse’s technology will help authenticate collectible figures, which can go for huge prices on the secondary market, by integrating technology during the manufacturing stage. The platform will also eventually include a social network for collectors.

MightyVerse collectibles are able to store information and digital assets, gamifying the collecting experience, Aw added. For example, when collectors buy a figure, “they will be able to unlock digital rewards hidden throughout the game, allowing us to create an incredibly immersive game experience in both the digital and physical worlds through the MightyVerse.”

Aw said the COVID-19 pandemic impacted Mighty Jaxx’s manufacturing and logistics, especially when factories closed in China, but partnerships with factories in other countries and companies like DHL have helped mitigate the impact, allowing its operations to return to “a level for optimum efficiency.”

Growing up, my family and I always enjoyed eating fresh food made with simple, real ingredients. A staple in my house was my grandfather’s 100-year-old pickle recipe. Grillo's has announced the exciting news that the premium pickle brand is working on a collaboration with Nickelodeon to produce clothing and food labels featuring characters from the network's beloved '90s animated series Rugrats!


Rugrats focuses on a group of toddlers, Tommy Pickles, Chuckie Finster, twins Phil and Lil DeVille, and Angelica Pickles, and their day-to-day lives that became adventures in their imaginations. The original Rugrats series launched in August of 1991 and instantly became a groundbreaking phenomenon, cementing its place in pop culture history through its iconic characters, storytelling and unique visual style.


Rugrats originally ran for nine seasons and 172 episodes from 1991 to 2004, debuting alongside Doug and Ren & Stimpy as one of the original Nicktoons, earning four daytime Emmys and six Kids' Choice Awards, among others, its own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and launching a slate of consumer products. The success led to three features, starting with 1998's The Rugrats Movie, which introduced Tommy’s younger brother Dil, followed by Rugrats in Paris: The Movie (2000), which introduced Kimi and Kira, and Rugrats Go Wild (2003), a crossover film with fellow Klasky Csupo series The Wild Thornberrys, They grossed $100 million, $76.5 million and $439.4 million, respectively. The series also spawned a number of spin-offs, including All Grown Up! and Pre-School Daze.


As Rugrats primarily focuses on the Pickles family, it's not hard to see why Grillo choose Rugrats to represent the brand.

The brand expansion comes as Grillo’s has seen sustained triple digit year-over-year (YoY) growth and as it seeks to broaden its marketing efforts through clothing and brand partnerships. The company partnered with Urban Outfitters to produce a clothing line which was sold at New York Fashion Week this month and is entering the beverage set with a line of cold-pressed pickle vinegar drinks launching next week at Natural Products Expo West 2020.

Nickelodeon is in the midst of reviving Rugrats for a new generation of kids. Greenlit for 26-episodes, the refreshed series will include new adventures with beloved characters Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Susie and Angelica, and will also introduce a new world of characters.

A live-action Rugrats film featuring CGI characters by was in development at Paramount Players and slated for a January 2021 release, however, this movie looks like its been put on hold for now.

Spyders (stylised as SpiderZ; originally titled The Covurts) focuses on Anna and Noah Fisher, highly highly skilled undercover agents who work for a ECCO – Environmental Counter Crime Organization, and are tasked with fighting criminals who endanger nature or the environment. Little do they know that their three kids – Daniel (16), Nikki (15) and Tommy (12) – have discovered their secret occupation and have formed a task force of their own, named Spyders

Spyders is the first original co-production between Nickelodeon International and Israeli Nutz Productions—the subsidiary production arm of Ananey Communications Group—together with Israeli cable network HOT.

Nickelodeon has ordered 40 x 22-minute episodes, which will be distributed to Nickelodeon's international audiences spanning 170+ countries and territories via the brand’s more than 100 channels and branded blocks in 2020.

Spyders is created by Michal Cooper Keren, Tom Riles, David Guest and Patrick Quinn. The head writer is Israeli screenwriter Michal Cooper Keren, the creator of Nickelodeon Israel's Spell Keepers. The series is an original co-production between Nickelodeon International, Nutz Productions and Ananey Communications Group.

Michal Cooper Keren, who created Nickelodeon Israel's Spell Keepers, is also the series' head writer. The series is an original co-production between Nickelodeon International, Nutz Productions and Ananey Communications Group.

The series commenced filming in Israel last summer and wrapped in December 2020.

“After a long history of collaboration with Ananey, we are so excited to kick off our first co-production together with our partners in Israel,” said Nina Hahn, the Senior Vice President (SVP) of International Production and Development for Nickelodeon, when the show was first announced at global TV and digital content market MIPTV in April 2018. “We can’t wait for young fans around the world to meet The Spyders!”

Orly Atlas-Katz, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) OF Ananey Communications said, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Nickelodeon International. I am certain that with their vast experience in content for kids, HOT's programming expertise and our high-end productions abilities, this show will be something to look forward to."

Ananey is an Israeli content producer and pay-TV provider that serves as the Israeli licensor of several of Viacom’s biggest brands, including Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and MTV, and produces both local and international original content.

Under the partnership, Nickelodeon has become Israel's No. 1 children's channel and, alongside Nick Jr., reaches 49 percent of the youth audience, due in large part to Ananey’s original local productions for kids and teens.

The greenlight of The Spyders comes on the heels of Viacom purchasing a minority stake in Ananey Communications Group in 2017.

Nutz entered a co-pro deal with Bunim/Murray Productions’ (Nickelodeon's The Crystal Maze) new BMP Kids division on the youth prank show Gotcha, which bowed on Nick Israel last December. Other popular Nutz series currently airing on Nick Israel include Spell Keepers, Bed & Biscuit and The Hood, which just entered its third season.
