Nickelodeon Celebrates Blue's Birthday with New 'Blue’s Clues & You!' Special

Nickelodeon's hit preschool series Blue's Clues & You! is celebrating Blue’s birthday with a special episode!


The episode, titled “Happy Birthday Blue,” will unite new host Josh with former Blue’s Clues host Joe (Donovan Patton) to mark the special occasion. In the episode, Josh and home viewers will play a round of “Blue’s Clues” to figure out what present the puppy wants for her birthday. That’s where Joe — who now runs a gift shop (evident by his purple sweater in the photo above) — comes along to help the mystery-solving squad figure out what Blue wants.

In addition to the on-air birthday plans, several celebrity friends will make a special appearance to wish the puppy well. Stars Samantha Bee, Rachel Dratch, Laurie Hernandez, Alexa and Carlos PenaVega, Kal Penn, and Pete Wentz pop in to share heartfelt well-wishes.

The new episode premieres on Friday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon USA!

A remake of the groundbreaking, curriculum-driven interactive series Blue’s Clues, Blue’s Clues & You! follows Blue as she invites viewers to join her and Josh on a clue-led adventure and solve a puzzle in each episode. With each signature paw print, Blue identifies clues in her animated world that propel the story and inspire the audience to interact with the characters. The series premiered in November 2019, and has been renewed for a second season. Blue’s Clues & You!merchandise will be hitting shelves very soon.

Alongside the linear episodes, brand-new Blue’s Clues & You! play-along videos are available in Noggin, Nick’s top-ranked interactive learning subscription for preschoolers. The play-along videos allow users to explore the stories in an immersive way, and engage with live-action host Josh and the animated characters, by tapping, touching or swiping to navigate through enhanced learning experiences. Preschoolers have the ability to customize elements, like the color of the clues or the creation of birthday cards for Blue, and then see their designs appear throughout the video. The classic Blue’s Clues library is also available on Noggin and additional Blue’s Clues & You! play-along videos will continue to roll out throughout the year.

Nickelodeon, a division of Viacom International Inc. (NASDAQ: VIAB, VIA), and SmartStudy, the global entertainment company behind the beloved children’s brand, Pinkfong, announced last year that they are partnering to develop a new original animated series based on Baby Shark for global distribution, while Viacom Nickelodeon Consumer Products (VNCP) will be managing consumer products licensing worldwide, excluding Asia, for the property.

Baby Shark became a breakout sensation when it launched on YouTube in November 2015. With music, characters, story and dance all combined together, Baby Shark took the world by storm, amassing 2.9 billion YouTube views and becoming the 9th most watched video in the platform’s history. The song recorded a 20-week-streak on the Billboard Hot 100 and spawned a viral phenomenon #BabySharkChallenge, generating over 700K cover videos around the globe.

Unveils its Long-Lost Comic Book Finale

Two Decades in the Making, Gary Carlson and Frank Fosco’s Unique
Interpretation of TMNT Concludes with All-New Stories in Issues #24-26


SAN DIEGO, CA – IDW Publishing (OTCQX: IDWM) is proud to announce that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Urban Legends, their monthly comic book series reprinting the incomplete TMNT series originally released from 1996 to 1999, will finally be concluded with an all-new story running from issue #24 through #26.

The original creative team of writer Gary Carlson and artist Frank Fosco reunite to bring their long-awaited ending to the Urban Legends saga, colored by Adam Guzowski (who skillfully colored the entire series). The new storyline, debuting with issue #24 in April 2020, unmasks the mysterious and deadly Lady Shredder, leading to a senses-shattering showdown that TMNT fans have waited two decades to see!


“It’s a pleasure to be able to finish up the TMNT storylines that Frank Fosco and I started over twenty years ago,” says Carlson. “I have always been proud of the issues we did at Image. It’s great to know that our run hasn’t been forgotten, and that so many fans are excited to see how it would have ended.”

Amelie Bea Smith Cast as New Voice of Peppa Pig

Entertainment One (eOne) and animation studio Astley Baker Davies have cast a new voice artist for the role of Peppa Pig.


Nine-year-old Amelie Bea Smith makes her debut voicing the title character of the beloved animated preschool series in new episodes that launch next month in the U.K., U.S., Australia and international territories that air episodes in English.

Smith is the fourth British voice artist to take on the role in English-speaking territories. Her voice will first appear in the Peppa Pig episode "Valentine’s Day", airing Friday, February 14, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on the Nick Jr. channel in the U.S.

The Peppa Pig"Valentine’s Day" episode will premiere on Channel 5's Milkshake! on Friday 14th February 14 2020 at 7:30am GMT!

Before voicing Peppa Pig, she appeared in several episodes of long-running British soap opera EastEnders in 2018 and 2019, and is set to appear in Netflix’s Haunting of Bly Manor.

Smith takes over from Harley Bird, now 18, who has voiced the cartoon pig for 13 years, since she was 5 years old, taking over in 2007 during its third season and voicing Peppa for 185 episodes, winning a BAFTA for the role in 2011. Bird is in her final year of school, and her acting credits also include feature film How I Live Now, alongside Saorise Ronan, Doctor Who, and Disney app series So Sammy, created by Miranda Hart.

Bird has been the voice of Peppa Pig in 185 episodes. As well as voicing episodes, Bird also performed songs for the recent “Peppa Pig My First Album” music release and the hit charity Christmas single "Bing Bong Christmas".

Previously, Lily Snowden-Fine and Cecily Bloom provided the voice for Peppa Pig, which first appeared on U.K. screens in 2004.

Peppa Pig co-creators Neville Astley and Mark Baker, from animation studio Astley Baker Davies, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Amelie to the Peppa Pig voice cast and confident that she will continue the strong legacy of the previous Peppa voice actors.

“Lily Snowden-Fine defined the role when she first voiced the character in series one at age five.

“Lily passed the baton to Cecily Bloom for series two before handing the reins to Harley Bird. As our longest-standing Peppa, Harley’s award-winning contribution to the show over the past 13 years has been tremendous, making her a key part of the success of Peppa Pig.”

Bird said, “Becoming the voice of Peppa Pig at the age of five was the start of an incredible journey, and I’ll never forget my time on the show. The people that work on Peppa Pig have become like a family to me and they’ve given me some unforgettable memories. I wish Amelie the best of luck in the role and am looking forward to starting the next chapter in my life.”

Smith's agent, Mark Jermin, said the 9-year-old was "thrilled" to be taking over the role. "Amelie has been a huge fan of the show since she was little, so voicing the title role is like a dream come true and she's thrilled to become part of the voice cast," Jermin added.

Peppa Pig first aired on the U.K.’s Channel 5 Milkshake and Nick Jr in 2004. It is now available in more than 180 territories and broadcast in more than 40 languages, including many Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. channels globally.

The show celebrated its 15th anniversary in the U.K. and Australia in 2019. There will be a total 381 episodes following the current production slate.

Following the success of the first-ever Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt Malta in 2019, the Malta Tourism Authority is once again partnering with ViacomCBS Networks International (VCNI) to host Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt Malta 2020!


The second annual Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt Malta will take place over the weekend of Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th April 2020, with activities inspired by popular Nickelodeon shows and characters expected to take place across the island.

Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt Malta is Malta's first-ever Nickelodeon branded experiential tourism franchise. Launched in 2019 as part of a partnership between Malta Tourism Authority and Viacom Velocity International, the branded content, events and ad-agency of VCNI (formally Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN)), the Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt Malta took place between 13th and 18th April 2019, and attracted families from all over the world to visit Malta over the Easter school holidays.

Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt Malta 2019 was based around creating exclusive Nickelodeon experiences and rewards at select attractions around the Maltese Islands. Activities included searching for SpongeBob SquarePants and friends at the National Aquarium, learning through play with the PAW Patrol pups at the Esplora Science Centre, learning to duel with Nella the Princess Knight at the 16th-century St James Cavalier, and joining the pizza-loving Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at Is-Suq Tal-Belt food market.


In addition to character experiences at selected attractions, a free live theatre show at Pjazza Teatru Rjal kicked things off over the opening weekend, with slime-filled challenges and a multi-character musical show for kids and families. A Nickelodeon Multi-Media Exhibition and Workshop Hub was open throughout the week at St James Cavalier, with the week’s activity being rounded off with a carnival-style parade through Valetta Old Town.

Activity packs distributed at locations, including the international airport and tourist information centers, featured activities that combined fan-favorite Nickelodeon characters with attractions throughout Malta. Stamps collected at each attraction could be redeemed for Nickelodeon-themed prizes.

The concept of the Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt Malta aims to leverage to global power of the Nickelodeon brand, network and popular characters to drive awareness of and visits to Malta’s attractions during off-peak months.

To celebrate the launch of the partnership between the Malta Tourism Authority and VCNI, Air Malta decorated one of its NEO Airbus aeroplanes with a livery featuring popular Nickelodeon characters, including SpongeBob SquarePants, Raphael from Nickelodeon's Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Skye from PAW Patrol, and Nella the Princess Knight.

To promote the first-ever Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt Malta, The Thundermans stars Kira Kosarin & Jack Griffo visited the island to showcase the countries iconic landmarks.

Plymouth, MI - The USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP) has announced the sponge-tastic news that the NTDP, an initiative started by USA Hockey as a way to identify elite ice hockey players under the age of 18, will host a Nickelodeon Night Featuring SpongeBob SquarePants on Saturday, January 18, 2020, as part of the Program's 2019-2020 promotional schedule! The ice hockey match will see the Program's Under-17 (U17) team take on the Lincoln Stars at the NTDP's home arena, the USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan. Puck drops at 7:00 p.m. The evening will see the Under-17 team wear SpongeBob SquarePants specialty jerseys.

USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program changed things up a bit for the 2019-2020 season, but it’s all still for a great cause. After years of hosting a Star Wars Night game, Team USA changed the special day to Nickelodeon Night this time around, and the NTDP Under-17 Team battled the Lincoln Stars while wearing SpongeBob SquarePants jerseys. The jerseys are being auctioned off to raise money for C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, as the NTDP continues to support the world-class medical facility after forming a partnership while they were neighbors in Ann Arbor. In the brand-new The Substitute episode "Rico & Raini Rodriguez", actor Rico Rodriguez (Modern Family) goes undercover as The Substitute, while his sister Raini Rodriguez pulls the string behind the scene. Rico plays a wacky neat freak, an intense karate instructor, and a middle school sub who thinks he’s teaching kindergarteners! (#106)

In each episode of The Substitute, celebrities are transformed into completely unrecognizable characters using full costumes and prosthetics to hide their identities to prank students.

The Substitute features celebrities who are transformed by a team of Hollywood special effects artists to go undercover as a substitute, surprising unsuspecting kids in schools, camps and other locations. After a day full of ridiculous mayhem, the substitute reveals themselves and the featured school receives a donation for $25,000.


Additional guest stars set to appear in upcoming episodes of The Substitute are Asher Angel, Shaun White, JoJo Siwa, Johnny Orlando, Kel Mitchell, and Cooper Barnes. The season previewed in October with guest star and international superstar John Cena, and was followed by a holiday-themed episode guest starring Grammy Award-winning artist and performer NE-YO in November. The series premiered on Friday, January 31, 2020 with WWE Superstars The Bella Twins.

The Substitute is produced by Industrial Media’s The Intellectual Property Corporation. Eli Holzman, Aaron Saidman and Todd Hurvitz (Punk’d), serve as executive producers, with Hurvitz also serving as the showrunner. Second Annual BRIC Talent + Innovation Summit Continues Push for Representation

The BRIC Foundation, dedicated to increasing representation in the entertainment industry, today announced its second annual BRIC Talent + Innovation Summit, bringing together a community of thought provokers and disruptors across tech and entertainment to chart a course for meaningful change this February 21.


The 2020 Summit will be emceed by comedian and actor Hisham Fageeh (Barakah Meets Barakah), with speakers including Effie T. Brown, CEO at Gamechanger and Producer (Dear White People); Karen Toliver, EVP of Creative at Sony Pictures Animation (producer, Hari Love); Julie-Ann Crommett, VP Multicultural Engagement at Walt Disney Studios; Darnell Moore, Director of Inclusion Strategy for Content & Marketing, Netflix; and Marya Bangee, Executive Director at Harness, an organization that works within Hollywood to center the narratives of marginalized communities in popular culture.

BRIC (Break, Reinvent, Impact, Change) was created with the mission of creating new access points for women and members of underrepresented groups to excel at creative leadership and to enable cultural change through engaging and empowering talent. The BRIC Foundation was founded in 2018 by entertainment industry heavyweights Alison Mann, VP Creative/Strategy Sony Pictures Animation, and Producers Jill Gilbert and Nicole Hendrix.

The 2020 Summit will focus on answering four key questions:

  • BREAK: What we can learn from creators/directors that have successfully navigated across platform, media, and content?
  • REINVENT: With the recent surge of creator driven platforms allowing creators/directors to tell the stories they want, how do the entertainment giants attract and incentive the talent to want to work with them?
  • IMPACT: What can studios do to support individuals that can’t afford art schools? And what can art schools do to create more access and interest in the arts?
  • CHANGE: How can diverse talent and creative leadership drive a competitive advantage?

The all-day event will be held on February 21, 2020 at the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena (1700 Lida St, Pasadena, CA 91103) from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Summit will be packed with inspiring talks, engaging workshops, and actionable insights.

Nickelodeon Latin America (Latinoamérica) will Noobees 2, the second season of Nickelodeon Latinoamérica's hit scripted series which takes viewers inside the high-stakes world of eSports, on Monday 2nd March 2020!


In Noobees 2 (60 x 1 hour episodes), audiences will follow Silvia (Michelle Olvera) and David (Andrés de la Mora) as a couple, oblivious to the fact that Gameover seeks revenge. Gameover’s sole mission is to take control of all players, conquer the real world and turn it into a video game. To execute his plan he needs help from Athina and Rocco, 2 Avatars that he has created, but lies to them about his true intentions, offering them the opportunity to play the best game of their lives and enter the real world to mingle with humans. Do they find out his evil scheme or does Gameover succeed with his takeover?

Noobees 2 will see Argentine actor Julián Cerati, Colombian influencer La Pereztroica, and Venezuelan actress Karlys Romero join original castmates - Mexican actors Michelle Olvera and Andrés de la Mora, Colombians María José Vargas and Pipe Arcila, and Brazilian actor Clara Tiezzi.

Noobees 2 is written by renowned Argentine screenwriter, Marcela Citterio whose works include tween favorites Chica Vampiro, Heidi and Nickelodeon Latin America’s Yo Soy Franky, among others.


Noobees 2 was filmed in Bogotá, Colombia over five months, wrapping in October 2019, and is produced by Viacom International Studios (VIS) and The Mediapro Studios.

To celebrate the upcoming debut of Noobees 2, Nickelodeon has launched a brand new short-form digital series titled Mundo Avatar con La Pereztroica, starring La Pereztroica, which takes viewers deeper into the world Noobees. Kids can get ready for the new school year and learn lessons about friendship and following your dreams with Nickelodeon’s Middle School Moguls, premiering Sunday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m. (ET/PT) on Nick USA. The four half-hour, CG-animated specials chronicle the ambitions of four new friends striving to create their own companies while attending Mogul Academy, an entrepreneurial school where kid-business dreams come true. Middle School Moguls will continue to air every Sunday in September at 11 a.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon USA.

Each special will look at life inside the exclusive Mogul Academy through the eyes of first-year students and moguls-in-training: Valeria, a budding sports gear innovator, voiced by Olympic gold medalist Laurie Hernandez; Winnie, an aspiring pet chef, voiced by Daniella Perkins (Knight Squad); Celeste, a smart-tech inventor, voiced by Jade Pettyjohn (School of Rock, Henry Danger, Rufus 2); and Yuna, an edgy fashion designer, voiced by Haley Tju (Bella and the Bulldogs). Together, the girls work to tackle grown-up challenges by thinking outside of the box and “mogulizing” to make their big dreams a reality.

Laurie Hernandez Hopes To ‘Inspire’ KidsWith New Show & Talks 2020 Olympics:‘I’m In Full Training Mode’


Laurie Hernandez is a gymnast, Olympic gold medalist, and the youngest-ever ‘DWTS’ champion, but now she’s lending her voice as Valeria in Nickelodeon’s ‘Middle School Moguls’!

Laurie Hernandez is currently training for the 2020 Olympics. But this 19-year-old gymnast has a full plate as she’s also been busy lending her voice on Nickelodeon’s Middle School Moguls. Laurie’s character Valeria, is a budding sports gear innovator in the upcoming series and she sat down with HollywoodLife to dish EXCLUSIVELY on her latest venture. “Middle School Moguls is about four new friends that have met each other and they’re trying to create their own company at a place called Mogul Academy,” Laurie explained. “It kind of helps them hone in on everything they’re passionate about.”

“My character, Valeria, who mostly goes by Val is also an athlete, which is a funny coincidence,” Laurie continued. “She basically creates something and this little mogul school recruiter recruits her to come to Mogul Academy for the summer to try and create her own company, and she gets to meet a bunch of awesome people along the way.” We asked the Olympic gold medalist why this role was the perfect fit for her. “There were a lot of things that really drew me in. I think also, you know, especially the fact that Val comes from a Hispanic background, she’s with her dad and she gets to do something that she’s passionate about and her dad really encourages her with that and he wants to help her with it,” Laurie said. “Also the fact that she’s, like, a little business lady, even though she’s in middle school! She likes to create her own craft and she wants it to be something more, so I like that kids are going to be able to watch someone create something and I hope they get inspired to try something new.”

The Dancing With the Stars champion has also been busy gearing up for the 2020 Olympics and is in “full training mode.” “I’m training six days a week, about five hours a day, and right now, we’re just trying to get everything together so that we can hopefully start competing early next year,” Laurie explained. When it comes to how this multi-talented star juggles it all she said, “I mean, it definitely is tough juggling everything, but these are all things that I’m passionate about, so I’m so happy to be busy, and I’m so blessed to be busy. I’m just excited!”

“Whether that’s doing something in the entertainment world or especially being able to do something like Middle School Moguls, gymnastics has always been a passion of mine, and now I get to do them all at the same time,” Laurie continued. “So of course, making time for myself is really important and making sure that I have all the self-care stuff outside of practice, physical therapy and meeting with my nutritionist and all those things, because the Olympics is right around the corner. But that doesn’t mean anything fun has to stop!”

Gina Heitkamp likens the UCI Beall Applied Innovation program to the TV show “Shark Tank.” It’s an incubator for entrepreneurs – and the reason she just sold her very first brand to Nickelodeon.

“Basically I have a business because of UCI,” she says. “The ecosystem they are building for entrepreneurs is amazing.”

Gina Heitkamp turned Middle School Moguls into a successful TV show.

Heitkamp was in her last year of UC Irvine’s MBA program in 2014 when she came up with the idea for Middle School Moguls, a line of dolls and books to “instill the entrepreneurial spirit in young girls.”

She entered her idea in the school’s annual New Venture Competition. And she won: $15,000 (now winners get $100,000). That was just enough money to make a prototype of a doll.

As luck would have it, the university was about to launch its Applied Innovation program, a campus incubator for startups.

Heitkamp enrolled, along with her older sister Jenae, a child therapist, who had brainstormed Middle School Moguls with her.

Jenae and Gina Heitkamp created “Middle School Moguls,” a cartoon now on Nickelodeon.

The program connected them with investors and mentors, including a Mattel executive who now sits on their board.

“That took us to the next level,” Heitkamp says.

Within a couple of years, she and her sister raised $1.8 million to develop Middle School Moguls.

“The brand chronicles the ambitions of friends Valeria, Winnie, Celeste and Yuna, who are striving to create their own companies while attending Mogul Academy, an entrepreneurial school where kid-business dreams come true,” Heitkamp says.

The cartoon just finished its first season on Nickelodeon.

Now, under the company name Gengirl Media, the sisters are preparing to launch a new brand sometime this summer.

Pluto TV Set to Launch in Latin America in March 2020; Brazil by the End of the Year

ViacomCBS Networks International (VCNI), the international arm of ViacomCBS, has announced that its free, ad-supported streaming service Pluto TV will launch in Latin America at the end of March 2020, with the service expected to reach Brazil by the end of the year!


The platform will offer programming in Spanish and Portuguese, and it will be available on pay-TV platforms, its own website and via iOS and Android apps.

“The launch of Pluto TV across Latin America marks another huge step toward achieving our mission of entertaining the planet,” said Tom Ryan, the streaming service’s CEO and co-founder. “We see massive opportunity and consumer demand for a high quality, free ad-supported streaming TV service throughout Latin America and therefore are excited to introduce viewers in the region to Pluto TV very soon.”

Pluto TV in Latin America will launch with 24 channels across a range of genres, including action, comedy, drama, horror, games, sports, music, kids and family, cooking, travel, mysteries, wildlife and reality. The service will continue to add channels after the launch, reaching more than 80 by the end of the calendar year.

The initial channel offering will include Pluto TV Cine Estelar, Pluto TV Cine Acción, Pluto TV Cine Drama, Pluto TV Cine Comedia, Pluto TV Cine Terror, Pluto TV Series, Telefe Clásico, MTV Vintage, Nick Pluto TV, Nick Jr. Pluto TV, Pluto TV Junior, Pluto TV Kids, Pluto TV Anime, Pluto TV Deportes, Pluto TV Cocina and Pluto TV Viajes.
