America’s Most Musical Family judge Debbie Gibson admitted she didn’t always see eye to eye with fellow judges Ciara & David Dobrik.


Debbie Gibson, 49, Ciara, 34, & David Dobrik, 23, created a lot of fun banter on Nickelodeon’s first season of America’s Most Musical Family, and although the judges all got along, there were plenty of times that they had creative differences when it came down to picking which singers moved on to the next rounds. Though they all come from different backgrounds, Debbie said it was how they handled it in the end that made it all work. “We several times had very different opinions and I think the beauty of me, Ciara and David is that we really listen to each other,” the former pop star told HollywoodLife when she stopped by their LA studio on Dec. 9 to chat about the show’s finale.

“I come from one place, Ciara comes from one place, David comes from that place of like, guys, this is what people are searching for on YouTube right now. And then I might jump in and go, “Right now is good, but I’m also flash forward 30 years and will this group be able to evolve and hold an audience and connect with an audience for decades and decades to come?” Because the goal of any talent competition TV show is to create a real star.”

The freshman season of the singing show has been nothing shy of a hit as viewers watched week after week all kinds of combinations of families sing their hearts out for a shot at a prize of $250,000 and a record deal with Republic Records. With so many families to see, the talent really impressed Debbie, making her job harder than she ever imagined. “It’s literally impossible to pick a favorite,” Debbie revealed. “I mean, the talent is insane. The competition is heating up. So it’s like people are really bringing it. And we were deliberating forever as the judges. We were like, “What are we going to do?”

With host Nick Lachey, 46, assisting, the show sure did provide a lot of great talent for the judges to choose, but Debbie revealed that fans are going to be thrilled as she teased the winner. “I was so happy,” Debbie said. “So, but this was an act that I had my eye on from the beginning and was rooting for. So I also love kind human beings. And so when I see a mix also of the talent, the tenacity, the connection to the audience, knowing who they are as a musical act, but then like you get kind people in the family, I go, okay, I’m in. Kindness gets you very far on this business too. Real kindness, not fake humility. So I was like really on the lookout for a lot of specific things and I was really thrilled with the family who won. I would say is this family band was a common denominator amongst all of the judges.”

America’s Most Musical Family airs Fridays at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon USA and YTV.

America’s Most Musical Family is a one-of-a-kind music competition series that will see 30 talented and diverse family bands performing in all genres take center stage in front of celebrity judges Grammy Award-winning global superstar Ciara, digital media sensation David Dobrik, pop icon and Broadway star Debbie Gibson and show host, singer and television personality Nick Lachey to compete for a recording contract with Republic Records and the chance to win a $250,000 cash prize in partnership with Capri Sun 100% Juice. Bands taking part range from a father/daughter duo, sibling groups and a 12-member multigenerational brass ensemble. The bands will battle it out over the course of 12 hour-long episodes and one half-hour special.

Preschoolers are set for more heart-warming adventures with their favorite coat-clad bear, as Paddington returns to screens in the brand-new CG-animated series The Adventures of Paddington!

The Adventures of Paddington centres on a younger Paddington as he writes letters to Aunt Lucy celebrating the new things he has discovered through the day’s exciting activities. The series is a Heyday Films and STUDIOCANAL production in association with Copyrights.

Actor Ben Whishaw (Paddington 1 & 2) reprises his role as the voice of the title character, alongside new cast members Morwenna Banks, Bobby Beynon, Sheena Bhattessa, Darren Boyd, Noel Clarke, Phyllis Logan, Monica Lopera, Sabrina Newton-Fisher, David Schofield, Reece Shearsmith (The League of Gentlemen, Inside No. 9), Liz Sutherland-Lim and Jeremiah Waysome.


The Adventures of Paddington will also feature a brand-new theme song “Paddington Bear” written and performed by one of Britain’s most successful musicians, Gary Barlow (Take That).

The Adventures of Paddington (52 X 11’) is directed by Adam Shaw and Chris Drew of Blue Zoo (Go Jetters, Digby Dragon, Miffy, Q Pootle 5), and developed for television and written by Jon Foster and James Lamont (The Amazing World of Gumball, Cuckoo, Paddington 1 & 2).

The series is executive produced by multi-award winner David Heyman (producer of all eight of the Harry Potter films, Paddington 1 & 2) and Rosie Alison (Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Paddington 1 & 2). The Adventures of Paddington is produced by Karen Davidsen (formerly with Disney and HIT Entertainment) and Simon Quinn (Isle of Dogs, Fantastic Mr. Fox), and co-produced by Rob Silva.

The Adventures of Paddingtonwill premiere on Nickelodeon in the U.S. on Monday, Jan. 20, at 12:30 p.m. (ET/PT), following a special preview on Friday, Dec. 20, at 12:30 p.m. (ET/PT). Following its U.S. launch, The Adventures of Paddington will roll out on the net’s international channels and branded blocks, including on Nick Jr. UK & Ireland, beginning March 2020.

In the series premiere, “Paddington Finds a Hobby/Paddington and the Stamp,” Paddington doesn’t have a hobby, so Mrs. Brown helps him find out what he’s good at. Then, Paddington gets his arm stuck in a mailbox while sending a letter to Aunt Lucy.

Gearing up for the launch of The Adventures of Paddington, The Copyrights Group has inked some fresh licensing deals for the property, including: HarperCollins Children’s Books for tie-in books, Ravensburger for preschool puzzles, and Trends UK for early learning toys.

Nickelodeon is celebrating the holidays with a new competition series, Top Elf! Across five one-hour episodes, seven kid “Elf-testants” with extraordinary building and design skills compete in festive challenges to become Santa’s ‘Top Elf’ and have their wish lists granted—not for themselves, but for good causes in their hometowns. Top Elf airs Fridays at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon, with the season finale airing Saturday, Dec. 21, at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT).

In Top Elf, Santa (Tommy Snider) and Ms. Jingles (Samantha Turret) invite seven civilian “Elf-testants” to the North Pole to test their skills in a series of holiday-themed challenges, from designing their own life-sized gingerbread clubhouses, to reimagining Santa’s sleigh, to creating giant 3-D holiday cards. And of course, building new toys!

Each “Elf-testant" is paired with one of Santa’s elves who help bring their visions to life. Meet the elves: Chip Snuggles (Rudy Martinez), Nog Shimmerhorn (David Magidoff), Ginger O’Tingleton (Jenna Wright), Merry Sparkleberry (Nataliz Jimenez), Tinsel Turtledove (Ashley August), Zippy Twinkles (Davied Morales) and Stretch McDancerpants (Eric Stretch).

The seven skillful “Elf-testants” competing this season are: Aiko Doyle from New York; Allison Kajikawa from Walnut, Calif.; Briana from Los Angeles; Cameron Fulton from Georgetown, Ky.; Hopper Williamson from Highland Park, Texas; Hud Clark from Oxford, Miss.; and Justice Levenson from Jamaica, N.Y.

At the end of each episode, “Elf-testants” are judged by Santa, Ms. Jingles and a celebrity guest to decide who is on the “nice” or “naughty" list and one step closer to being named Top Elf. Celebrity guest judges helping Santa and Ms. Jingles find the Top Elf are: Frankie Grande, Amirah Kassem, Peyton List, Alex Wassabi and Pete Wentz.

BURBANK, Calif.–Dec. 9, 2019–Comedian/writer Adam Conover is the new host of Nickelodeon’s upcoming family game show, The Crystal Maze, an all-new version of the legendary UK hit series, premiering Friday, Jan. 24, at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT). The Crystal Maze will feature Conover as the Maze Master, charged with guiding one family team through physical and mental challenges set within an elaborate labyrinth of four giant and immersive themed zones: Aztec, Eastern, Futuristic and Industrial.

Said Conover, “As the Maze Master, the only thing that gives me greater joy than tormenting our adventurers with devious games is handing out giant cash prizes to the lucky few who manage to escape the challenges inside the crystal maze. This show is the ultimate challenge for families, proving that you have to work together if you want to win, and that’s a fact.”


“We are delighted to welcome Adam Conover into the Nickelodeon family as our first Maze Master. His wit, warmth and pizazz are the perfect attributes to guide families through the exhilarating adventure that is The Crystal Maze,” said Rob Bagshaw, Executive Vice President, Nickelodeon Unscripted Content.

The premiere episode of The Crystal Maze will feature a family from Houston, Texas, tackling a range of challenges in the maze for the first time ever for U.S. audiences. This season will feature families from: Scottsdale, Ariz; Lake Forest, Calif; Eastvale, Calif ; St. Augustine, Fla; Windemere, Fla; Chester, Va; Germantown, Tenn; Carollton, Texas; and Wheaton, Ill.



In each episode, the youngest family member takes on the role of team Captain. The successful completion of escape-room style challenges are rewarded with a “time crystal” granting the family five seconds in the centerpiece final zone called the Crystal Dome. The more crystals gathered throughout the game, the more time each family has for a dramatic clock countdown challenge inside the iconic Dome for a chance to win up to $25,000.

A current ratings smash in the UK, The Crystal Maze has been a beloved family and cult favorite since the mid ‘90s, with the current global popularity of the escape room phenomena reigniting interest further. The show was recently rebooted to great success with celebrity, charity and family seasons in UK, Australia and beyond.


The Crystal Maze is co-produced by Bunim/Murray Productions (The Real World, The Challenge, Born This Way) and RDF Television (Secret Life of 4 Year Olds, Wife Swap, Shipwrecked) under parent company Banijay Group. Gil Goldschein and Maria Pepin from Bunim/Murray Productions, Neale Simpson from Fizz, part of RDF Television, and Stephen David from Stephen David Entertainment serve as executive producers. Production of The Crystal Maze for Nickelodeon is overseen by Rob Bagshaw, Executive Vice President, Unscripted Content.


Production on the new series (10 one-hour episodes) took place on the show's original set located at The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol, England, earlier this summer.

Devised by Jacques Antoine, the UK version of The Crystal Maze was originally hosted by Richard O'Brien (Rocky Horror), followed by Ed Tudor-Pole. The reboot was originally presented by Stephen Merchant (for Stand Up To Cancer), and currently by Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd, Travel Man) with his "hand." The show's theme song is the legendary "Force Field", below. The show is currently filmed at The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol.

Earlier this year, TV Insider caught up with Conover during a set visit in Bristol, England. In the chat, the host weighed in on how the series would be received by U.S. viewers, saying, "I think a really easy in for American audiences is escape rooms. People know escape rooms now. This is a series of interconnected, very physical, super fun escape rooms set in a fictional maze.

"We're in a labyrinth and we're going from zone to zone, and game to game, winning crystals along the way. It's really an escape room meets Double Dare in a way. And then it's, of course, hosted by me, an ageless immortal maze master who is fabulously dressed," Conover continued. (TV Insider can confirm the fabulous outfit, which at the time was a sparkly pink blazer and other brightly-colored garments).

As the new Maze Master, Conover told Den of Geek in an interview conducted earlier this year that he created his own persona for the role.

“In my other work, Adam Ruins Everything, I play a heightened extension of myself too,” he says. “I was like, ‘All right. I can go in a different direction and build that character in a different way.'" This is like totally fantasy land. This guy has stuff in common with the crypt keeper, that sort of thing where it's it can be really, really silly.”

Part of the inspiration for creating a new take on the Maze Master came from watching the original host of The Crystal Maze, Richard O’Brien.

“I looked at the original host in the UK, Richard O’Brien. He played it very flamboyantly. He's one of the creators of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I was like, ‘Oh, that's cool.’ That's like a sort of heightened extension of his personality, right?”

For Conover, hosting the show is something of a full circle moment. Game shows have been noticeably absent from Nickelodeon’s programming in recent years. With The Crystal Maze, Conover feels the network is going back to its roots.


“Growing up, I watched a ton of Double Dare. It was right in the pocket for my age group and then Legends of the Hidden Temple and stuff like that, when I got older. It was pretty awesome to get a call from Nickelodeon who wants you to host this game show."

Nickelodeon’s version of The Crystal Maze premieres on Friday, January 24th at 7:00 p.m.

It's Pony - New Show

Life is more exciting, fun, and unpredictable with a pony, as seen in Nickelodeon’s new original animated series It’s Pony, premiering Saturday, Jan. 18. The 20-episode series follows the comedic adventures of Annie and her best friend, who just so happens to be an enthusiastic, unpredictable, and carefree pony. Following its premiere, It’s Pony will continue to air Saturdays on Nickelodeon and will air internationally in April 2020.

The series stars Jessica DiCicco (Adventure Time) as Annie, an optimistic and determined farm girl living in the city with her family and best friend Pony; Josh Zuckerman (Strange Angel) as Pony, who is naïve and impulsive, but loves Annie more than anything; Abe Benrubi (E.R.) as Dad, who treats Pony as a nuisance, but recognizes the special bond he shares with Annie; and India de Beaufort (All Hail King Julien) as Mom, who loves Annie and Pony’s relationship and always has a new project in the works.

Throughout the season, the series will explore the everyday life and hijinks of two best friends whose optimism and enthusiasm turn any situation from ordinary to extraordinary. Whether making an epic quest down the street to mail a letter, heroically saving the local playground with a bake sale, or simply getting a haircut, Pony and Annie always stick together because life is better as a pair.

Created by Ant Blades, It’s Pony is inspired by a short from Nickelodeon’s 2015 International Animated Shorts Program. A pre-released episode will be available starting Wednesday, Dec. 25 on the Nick App, Nick On Demand, and YouTube.

The Crystal Maze - New Game Show

Comedian/writer Adam Conover is the new host of Nickelodeon’s upcoming family game show, The Crystal Maze, an all-new version of the legendary UK hit series, premiering Friday, Jan. 24, at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT). The Crystal Maze will feature Conover as the Maze Master, charged with guiding one family team through physical and mental challenges set within an elaborate labyrinth of four giant and immersive themed zones: Aztec, Eastern, Futuristic and Industrial.

The premiere episode of The Crystal Maze will feature a family from Houston, Texas, tackling a range of challenges in the maze for the first time ever for U.S. audiences. This season will feature families from: Scottsdale, Ariz; Lake Forest, Calif; Eastvale, Calif ; St. Augustine, Fla; Windemere, Fla; Chester, Va; Germantown, Tenn; Carollton, Texas; and Wheaton, Ill.

In each episode, the youngest family member takes on the role of team Captain. The successful completion of escape-room style challenges are rewarded with a “time crystal” granting the family five seconds in the centerpiece final zone called the Crystal Dome. The more crystals gathered throughout the game, the more time each family has for a dramatic clock countdown challenge inside the iconic Dome for a chance to win up to $25,000.

A current ratings smash in the UK, The Crystal Maze has been a beloved family and cult favorite since the mid ‘90s, with the current global popularity of the escape room phenomena reigniting interest further. The show was recently rebooted to great success with celebrity, charity and family seasons in UK, Australia and beyond.

Production on the new series (10 one-hour episodes) took place on the show's original set located at The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol, England, earlier this summer.

Devised by Jacques Antoine, the UK version of The Crystal Maze was originally hosted by Richard O'Brien (Rocky Horror), followed by Ed Tudor-Pole. The reboot was originally presented by Stephen Merchant (for Stand Up To Cancer), and currently by Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd, Travel Man) with his "hand." The show's theme song is the legendary "Force Field", below. The show is currently filmed at The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol.

The SpongeBob Musical: Live On Stage!

Following a critically lauded run on Broadway, Nickelodeon reunited reunites members of the original award-winning Broadway company of The SpongeBob Musical for The SpongeBob Musical: Live On Stage!, will simulcast on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT) across Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons and Nick Jr. Joining the cast is veteran SpongeBob SquarePants voice actor Tom Kenny as “Patchy the Pirate,” performing the original Sara Bareilles song “Poor Pirates.” The SpongeBob Musical: Live On Stage! was filmed for television in front of a live theater audience, capturing all-new depths of theatrical innovation, where the power of optimism really can save the world.

The SpongeBob Musical: Live On Stage! cast will include Ethan Slater as SpongeBob SquarePants, Gavin Lee as Squidward Q. Tentacles, Danny Skinner as Patrick Star, Brian Ray Norris as Eugene Krabs, Wesley Taylor as Sheldon Plankton, Christina Sajous as Sandy Cheeks and Tom Kenny as ‘Patchy the Pirate’. America’s Most Musical Family is a one-of-a-kind music competition series that will see 30 talented and diverse family bands performing in all genres take center stage in front of celebrity judges Grammy Award-winning global superstar Ciara, digital media sensation David Dobrik, pop icon and Broadway star Debbie Gibson and show host, singer and television personality Nick Lachey to compete for a recording contract with Republic Records and the chance to win a $250,000 cash prize in partnership with Capri Sun 100% Juice. Bands taking part range from a father/daughter duo, sibling groups and a 12-member multigenerational brass ensemble. The bands will battle it out over the course of 12 hour-long episodes and one half-hour special.
