YTV Canada to Commemorate 20th Anniversary of 'SpongeBob SquarePants' with Weekend Birthday Blowout

It's SpongeBob SquarePants' 20th anniversary, and to commemorate 20 years of SpongeBob SquarePants, YTV in Canada will be hosting a Sponge-Tastic two-day on-air birthday bash over to celebrate 20 years of one of the most iconic TV series and characters ever created!


YTV is inviting fans to tune in on for two special all-day birthday marathons featuring back-to-back episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants, airing from 7:00 a.m. (ET/PT) over Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14, 2019!

That's not all! Saturday's marathon will include the Canadian premiere of the brand-new two-part SpongeBob Birthday Special, “SpongeBob’s Big Birthday Blowout”, in which SpongeBob and Patrick tour the surface world as the rest of Bikini Bottom prepares for a big birthday blowout surprise party for SpongeBob, airing at 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. (ET/PT)!


It’s SpongeBob’s birthday in “SpongeBob’s Big Birthday Blowout,” an original mixed live-action and animated special which features for the first time the celebrated voice talent behind SpongeBob, Patrick, Mr. Krabs, Sandy, Squidward and Plankton - Tom Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke, Clancy Brown, Carolyn Lawrence, Roger Bumpass and Mr. Lawrence, respectively - playing live-action doppelgänger versions of the animated characters they voice! In the one-hour special, Bikini Bottom is getting ready for a very special day: SpongeBob's birthday! To mark the occasion, Sandy, helped by the inhabitants of the underwater city, decide to organise a surprise birthday party for SpongeBob. In order to keep the birthday boy away from the preparations, Patrick and SpongeBob go on a crazy trip to the surface world, where they come across a few familiar characters during lunchtime rush at The Trusty Slab restaurant. The special will also feature special guest stars David Hasselhoff (Baywatch, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie), Kel Mitchell (All That, Kenan & Kel, Good Burger), Jack Griffo (The Thundermans) and Daniella Perkins (Knight Squad). Donning his famous lifeguard attire, Hasselhoff guests as himself in the special, where he runs into a little trouble in an ocean kayak and on the beach. Hasselhoff also notably played himself in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. His return is a special nod to his original performance for fans around the world.



SpongeBob launched July 17, 1999, and has reigned as the number-one kids’ animated series on TV for the last 17 years, generating a universe of beloved characters, pop culture catchphrases and memes, theatrical releases, consumer products, a Tony award-winning Broadway musical and a global fan base. The “Best Year Ever,” leads up to the Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies theatrical, The SpongeBob Movie: It's a Wonderful Sponge, coming 2020!

YTV's SpongeBob SquarePants 20 celebration forms part of the "Best Year Ever", Nickelodeon's year-long global celebration commemorating 20 years of SpongeBob SquarePants, one of the most iconic TV series and characters ever created.

SpongeBob’s Big Birthday Blowout” will debut on Nickelodeon USA on Friday, July 12, at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT).

'Henry Danger' Cast Graduate Home School Together On Set

The cast of Henry Danger are officially high school graduates!


Jace Norman, Riele Downs, Ella Anderson, and Sean Ryan Fox all graduated on the set of their hit Nickelodeon comedy series.

“graduation day,” Riele wrote on Instagram. “for my HD fam ♥️ school wasn’t always smooth sailing (there have been a few all nighters ngl 😅), but i’m lucky enough to have a support system that always lifts me up. what a stellar group of people I got to spend my high school years with. straight A’s at the end of the day! feeling accomplished 🎓😁”

“Graduation on set with the people i love. #ididitmom,” Jace added on his page.

The graduation was overseen by their Henry Danger co-star Cooper Barnes.

Nickelodeon Italy Announces SLIMEFEST 2019

Update (16/6) - SLIMEFEST Italia 2019 at Mirabilandia was another slime-tastic success, withEinar, Matteo Markus Bok, Marta Losito, Vale Mazzei, Vale Vedovatti, Ambra Cotti, Mose, Alessandro Casillo, Mr Rain, Martina Attili, Thomas, Elisa Maino, Vale, Sespo, Briga, Federica Carta and the audience all receiving the slime of their lives at the annual slimy event! SpongeBob also attended the slime-filled event, which kicked of Nickelodeon's celebrations commemorating the 20th anniversary of SpongeBob SquarePants! During his visit, SpongeBob also entertained fans by performing on stage!

Fans at home can catch a 50-minute SLIMEFEST special, premiering Friday 21st June 2019 at 20:00 on Nickelodeon. The special will also air on MTV Italia on Sunday 30th June 2019 at 17:00!

Nickelodeon Italy (Italia) has announced the aweslime news that, following the tremendous success of their first three SLIMEFEST events in 2016, 2017 and 2018, SLIMEFEST will be back in 2019, bigger slimier than ever before!

After the great success of last year, the fourth Italian edition of Nickelodeon SlimeFest will be held for a second year in a row at Mirabilandia, Italy's largest amusement park, located in Ravenna on Saturday 15th June 2019, kicking off at 16.00 with a preshow full of games and activities.

Mirabilandia is a place loved by both adults and children alike, providing fun for the whole family, thanks to its Guinness World Record holding attractions and its new Ducati World area.


SLIMEFEST 2019 Italia will be hosted by Federica Carta, a singer who is well known by fans of SlimeFest. At SLIMEFEST 2018 Italia, Federica treated fans to a duet with Shade, performing his Triple Platinum certified single "Irraggiungibile", which to date has had over 100 million views.

Last year Federica was chosen to open some of Laura Pausini's concerts in Rome, Rimini, Verona and Eboli, respectively. In December, the song "Mondovisione" from the soundtrack of the new film with Paola Cortellesi, La Befana vien di notte (The Legend of the Christmas Witch), was published on digital platforms. In 2019, Federica and Shade took part in Sanremo Music Festival 2019 with the competing song "Senza farlo apposta", a hit with over 18 million views. On Friday 15th February 2019, "Popcorn", a new album composed of 7 tracks was released, debuting in 3rd place in the official FIMI charts.

Sabato 15 Giugno 2019 torna SlimeFest, l’evento di musica e divertimento dove i protagonisti sono i ragazzi e i loro talent preferiti, organizzato da Nickelodeon, il brand per ragazzi e famiglie presente in esclusiva su Sky (canale 605) di Viacom International Media Networks Italia, azienda guidata dall’A.D. Andrea Castellari.

Dopo il grande successo dello scorso anno, la quarta edizione italiana di SlimeFest si terrà di nuovo a Mirabilandia, alle porte di Ravenna. Il Parco divertimenti più grande d’Italia è un luogo amato da adulti e bambini e adatto al divertimento di tutta la famiglia, grazie alle sue attrazioni da guinness dei primati e alla nuova area Ducati World.

Grandissime novità per la conduzione dello show che quest’anno sarà affidata a Federica Carta, cantante pop soul molto conosciuta dai fan di SlimeFest, vista la sua partecipazione alla scorsa edizione dove ha duettato con Shade il singolo “Irraggiungibile”, certificato ad oggi Triplo Disco di Platino, con oltre 100 milioni di visualizzazioni. L’anno scorso Federica è stata scelta per aprire alcuni concerti di Laura Pausini rispettivamente a Roma, Rimini, Verona e Eboli. Già sentire una persona che sa sorridere è di buon auspicio. In questo caso lo è per due motivi: primo perché le hanno affidato la conduzione dello Slime Festival, sabato 15 giugno a Mirabilandia ma soprattutto su Nickelodeon, secondo perché intervistare chi sa essere ironica non è proprio una consuetudine. Ha un abbassamento di voce Federica Carta mentre chiacchieriamo ma assicura che per sabato 15 sarà in formissima.

Federica iniziamo dal tuo progetto Popcorn.
Voglio farli sfrigolare in tutta Italia e il tour estivo, che ha da poco debuttato in Calabria, ne sarà il tramite. La mia musica è tutta suonata dal vivo.

La tua musica è di...platino.
Quando proponi un brano, e penso a Irresistibile, c'è sempre una idea di incertezza. Quando vedo i numeri che fa ogni volta mi meraviglio come fosse la prima volta.

E poi ci sono le visualizzazioni.
Non sono troppo attaccata alle classifiche social ma sapere che così tanta gente mi vuole bene è una gioia.

La scrittura ti responsabilizza?
Diciamo che quando scrivo non penso. Se c'è qualcosa di limare ci pensa il mio staff. La responsabilità della scrittura è uno step successivo. Per me scrivere è una seduta terapeutica.

Ti senti una cantautrice?
Non di quelle da realtà nuda e cruda. Però cerco di infondere speranza e credo nelle emozioni.

Quale è la tua forza?
Credo in me e non mi faccio condizionare, come dovrebbero fare tutti. Mi sento fortunata.

Quanto il talent è importante?
Molto. E' forse la via più facile ma resta sempre la paura di non arrivare.

Grazie a Nickelodeon debutti come conduttrice.
Avevo in realtà già fatto qualcosa ma questa volta è diverso perché è dal vivo. Ammetto che ho l'ansia.

Hai però già conosciuto l'atmosfera di Slime Festival.
Lo scorso anno, che conduceva il mio amico Shade, ero qui come ospite. Ora è diverso, voglio portare qualcosa di bello alle persone che partecipano.

Ti sei consultata con Shade?
Certo. Con la sua dolcezza ha provato a tranquillizzarmi. Ma un po' di paranoia resta.

Finita questa esperienza che farai?
Il sogno è scappare in una foresta e scrivere senza finire mai.

Lo stai facendo? Anche senza foresta.
Ovvio. Mi sto avvicinando all'uscita del mio terzo album e dunque devo creare.

A gennaio hai compiuto vent'anni: farai una festa con i fan?
Non ricordo neanche come ho festeggiato! Per i 18 anni volevo fare una super festa e poi ho spento le candeline a casa con la famiglia. Per una festa col fan club vorrei organizzarla.

A febbraio hai accompagnato Shade a Sanremo: accadrà presto il contrario?
Sarebbe un sogno gigante. Ogni volta che i miei genitori mi scattavano una foto io piangevo. E comunque mi sono molto divertita.

Manca poco alla quarta edizione dell’evento di Nickelodeon: il 15 giugno si alterneranno sul palco cantanti e star del web



Il conto alla rovescia è già partito: manca poco alla quarta edizione italiana dello SlimeFest, l’evento di musica e divertimento dove i protagonisti sono i ragazzi e gli artisti preferiti.

Organizzato da Nickelodeon, per il secondo anno consecutivo si terrà nel parco divertimenti più grande d’Italia: a Mirabilandia, alle porte di Ravenna, si sfideranno a colpi di slime tanti idoli dei più giovani che, oltre ad esibirsi con le loro canzoni, saranno ricoperti da questa sostanza verde appiccicosa e molle.

«In realtà, sono un po’ timoroso su questo fatto dello slime (ride) perché è la mia prima volta al festival. Non vedo l’ora, soprattutto, di far ascoltare il nuovo singolo “Un’altra volta te”: è un brano dal sapore estivo che parla di un amore finito che non si vuol lasciar andare ma che vorresti fosse ancora vivo per non smettere di amare» ci dice Einar sorridendo.



Chi non è più preoccupato di ricevere lo slime è Thomas, questa è la sua seconda volta al festival di Nickelodeon: «Arrivo da Bassano del Grappa, ho fatto un concerto vicino casa mia. Sono molto contento di partecipare anche quest’anno e non vedo l’ora di salire sul palco per stupire il pubblico, questo è sempre l’obiettivo finale di un'artista».

Ritroviamo il giovane diciannovenne ex allievo di Amici più consapevole del suo percorso artistico, ancora alla ricerca di una precisa identità artistica ma una cosa è certa: «Continuo a ballare, sì. Mi piace tanto e quando salgo sul palco non ne posso fare a meno!» ci dice mostrando orgoglioso anche il suo nuovo look «in omaggio alla cultura black».

Tantissimi gli idoli dei ragazzi che si esibiranno sul palco, da Federica Carta (che sarà anche l’host dell’evento) a Shade, passando per Briga, Einar e Alessandro Casillo. Proprio quest’ultimo, che di recente è tornato a farsi sentire con il nuovo album XVII e con il singolo – già probabile tormentone estivo 2019 – Hasta luego, ci ha raccontato di sé e dello SlimeFest in un’intervista.

Discograficamente parlando, è passato parecchio tempo da #Ale, del 2014, al tuo nuovo album, XVII. Avevi bisogno di riprenderti dall’altalena di emozioni cominciata pochi anni prima con la tua partecipazione a Io Canto?
Dopo il mio ultimo progetto ho deciso di fermarmi per un po’: mi sono messo a lavorare e ho fatto l’idraulico per quattro anni, per crearmi una strada alternativa alla musica, nel caso la mia carriera da cantante non fosse andata bene. Ovviamente non sono stato fermo, in quel periodo, perché ho scritto molto e sono cresciuto. Fino a che poi non è arrivata l’occasione di Amici, che mi ha permesso di ricominciare.

Sul disco cosa ci racconti?
Ne sono particolarmente contento, perché l’ho scritto io, che era uno dei miei obbiettivi sin da quando ero piccolo. XVII parla delle mie paure e consapevolezze, di quello che sono.

Un brano di cui sei particolarmente orgoglioso?
Sono io, in cui mi metto completamente a nudo.

Il singolo scelto per il lancio, Hasta luego, rappresenta invece la faccia opposta di XVII…
Esatto, è la parte più solare, divertente del disco. È un pezzo estivo, dove racconto del mio desiderio di scappare dalla monotonia della città per andare via.

Il video è un omaggio alla movida milanese?
Per il video ho voluto fare qualcosa di diverso dai soliti video estivi in riva al mare o con la ragazza in piscina. Fra l’altro l’ho girato con i miei amici veri. Siamo semplicemente degli amici che vanno in giro la sera a divertirsi.

Di tutto quello che hai fatto in questi anni, cos’è che più ti ha emozionato?
A livello di emozione, ma anche ansia, di sicuro Sanremo, perché veramente me la sono fatta sotto. È stata un’esperienza dura, fra l’altro avevo 15 anni. Mentre il più bel ricordo è stato Io canto, perché per la prima volta ho condiviso la mia passione con degli altri ragazzi.

Cosa hai preparato per il palco dello SlimeFest?
Canterò Hasta luego. Fra l’altro il 15 giugno è anche il giorno del mio compleanno, per cui sarà un vero e proprio giorno di festa.

“Paura” di finire inzaccherato di slime?
Ma no, quello è divertente!

Delirio di pubblico a Mirabiliandia per ‘Slimefest’ di Nickelodeon

Si è svolta sabato 15 giugno a Mirabilandia, la grande festa di Slimefest, l’evento di musica e divertimento di Nickelodeon, il brand per ragazzi e famiglie presente in esclusiva su Sky (canale 605) di Viacom International Media Networks Italia, azienda guidata dall’ad Andrea Castellari, con la presenza di tantissimi ragazzi già arrivati dalle prime ore del pomeriggio. Durante il pre-show ha fatto la sua apparizione sul palco SpongeBob, la spugna gialla più famosa e amata, che da Slimefest ha dato ufficialmente il via ai festeggiamenti per il suo ventesimo anniversario che per un anno intero lo vedrà protagonista su Nickelodeon e non solo. 

Padrona di casa è stata Federica Carta che, oltre a presentare, si è esibita sul palco insieme al resto del cast: Alessandro Casillo, Briga, Einar, Emma Muscat feat. Biondo, Matteo Markus Bok, Mose, Mr.Rain feat. Martina Attili, Shade e Thomas.

Il super speciale televisivo da 50 minuti dedicato a SlimeFest andrà in onda quest’anno a pochi giorni dall’evento. La prima parte dello speciale andrà in onda venerdì 21 giugno alle 20:00 solo su Nickelodeon, canale 605 di Sky, mentre l’appuntamento con la seconda parte sarà lunedì 24 alle ore 20:00. La versione completa, da 50 minuti, andrà in onda sempre su Nickelodeon mercoledì 26 giugno sempre alle 20:00 e domenica 30 giugno alle 17.00 su MTV (canale Sky 130).

This year’s BETX Fan Fest included a lot of activities for kids like the Nickelodeon-sponsored area that had arcade games, a slime photo opp, a make-your-own slime table and a “Double Dare” inspired inflatable obstacle course. There was also the 1975 AMC Pacer with a burger on the hood, fries for windshield wipers and a milk shake on the back from the ’90s TV series “All That” and the spin-off “Good Burger” feature film on display. While the kids really had no idea where the car came from, the older millennials were excited, especially since the show “All That” has been rebooted and a “Good Burger” pop-up is on its way to Los Angeles.

SURYA.co.id | SURABAYA - Dua karakter serial animasi yang diluncurkan Nickelodeon berjudul Shimer and Shine, selama bulan Juni ini di Oval Atrium Ciputra World Surabaya (CWS) Mall.

Hari ini, Minggu (9/6/2019) adalah minggu kedua mereka tampil dan melakukan meet and greet.

Shimmer and Shine tampak disambut meriah oleh pengunjung CWS Mall, terutama anak-anak. Bahkan sebelum kedua karaktet itu muncul, anak-anak sudah menanti di depan panggung.

Gisella salah satunya, perempuan kelas dua sekolah dasar itu mengaku sangat mengidolakan Shimmer dan Shine. Hari ini, ia datang bersama ayah, ibu, dan adik perempuannya, khusus untuk berfoto bersama Shimer dan Shine.

"Dia tahunya sudah sejak tanggal 5 lalu, cuma baru sempat ke sininya hari ini. Ini dia ngajak, karena sudah kepingin sekali foto bareng," ujar Kenly, ayahanda Gisella.

Stephana Fevriera, Promotion Coordinator CWS Mall mengatakan, acara untuk memeriahkan kehadiran Shimmer dan Shine sudah diadakan sejak Rabu (5/6/2019) lalu dan akan berakhir pada Minggu (23/6/2019).

"Untuk acaranya, kita adakan selama tiga minggu di Oval Atrium. Cuma, Shimmer dan Shine hanya melakukan meet and greet pada hari Jumat, Sabtu, dan Minggu," ujar Stephana.

Untuk dapat mengikuti meet and greet, imbuh Stephana, pengunjung cukup melakukan pembelanjaan senilai Rp 200 ribu di seluruh tenant CWS, atau Rp 150 ribu di stan retail yang berada di area acara.

"Selain itu, kami juga adakan challenge foto meet and greet Shimmer and Shine. Beberapa foto yang ditautkan ke instagram @ciputraworldsby akan dipilih dan yang terbaik akan mendapatkan hadiah berupa voucher," imbuh Stephana.

Selain meet and greet, mereka juga akan diajak menari bersama dancer untuk memanggil dua jin canti.

"Peserta meet and greet juga akan diajak mencari hewan peliharaan mereka berdua yang hilang," imbuhnya.

Dalam acara meet and greet tersebut diceritakan bahwa Tala, monyet kecil peliharaan Shimmer dan Nahal, anak harimau peliharaan Shine hilang.

Shimmer dan Shine, lanjut Stephana, sudah berada di CWS Mall sampai Minggu (23/6/2019).

Namun, mereka berdua melakukan meet and greet, mengajak pengunjung menari, serta mencari Tala dan Nahal pada Jumat, Sabtu, dan Minggu.

Grand Metropolitan Bekasi-MNC Leasing Hadirkan Karakter Chase dan Marshall


BEKASI - Grand Metropolitan Bekasi menggelar even Bekasi Toys Fair ke 5, yang menghadirkan dua tokoh karakter utama dari animasi terkenal Nickelodeon, Paw Patrol, yakni Chase dan Marshall. Even bertajuk "Bekasi Toys Fair with Paw Patrol" ini bekerjasama dengan MNC Licensing sebagai salah satu agensi lisensi brand-brand ternama dunia.

Nampak keseruan pada sesi meet and greet Chase dan Marshall, di mana banyak anak-anak yang mengantri untuk berfoto bareng dua tokoh anjing pahlawan yang mengenakan kostum polisi dan pemadam kebakaran itu.

"Kita melihat karakter Chase and Marshall di Paw Patrol itu lagi banyak digandrungi oleh anak-anak. Terutama yang di Bekasi, mereka sangat menggandrungi kedua tokoh ini," kata General Manager Grand Metropolitan, Augusman Turnip di lokasi, Sabtu (22/6/2019).


Selain meet and greet, pihak penyelenggara juga menyediakan berbagai kegiatan menarik lainnya, seperti kids voice performance, acrobat show dan kids fashion show. "Disamping itu kita juga ada penjualan merchandise Paw Patrol," ujar Augusman.

Menurutnya, even yang dimulai sejak 19 Juni-7 Juli 2019 ini sengaja dihadirkan pada saat liburan sekolah, untuk memberikan kegiatan yang menghibur sekaligus bermanfaat bagi anak-anak.

"Acara di sini banyak pilihannya. Ada permainan yang dapat merangsang sensor motorik anak-anak, lomba menggambar dan mewarnai yang merangsang kreativitas anak, dan acara hiburan lainnya. Dan trennya kalau dibandingkan dengan bulan-bulan sebelumnya, ada kenaikan kalau lagi liburan, sekitar 5-10 persen," ungkapnya.

Augusman menegaskan, tidak menutup kemungkinan pihaknya akan kembali berkolaborasi dengan MNC Licensing dan menggandeng karakter-karakter baru yang muncul dalam animasi Nickelodeon lainnya.

"Tentunya akan kita sesuaikan dengan tema yang akan kita pilih nantinya. Acara apa yang akan kita laksanakan, tentunya kita akan temui karakter yang ada di MNC lainnya," tutupnya.

Sementara itu, Head of Marketing MNC Licensing Iqbal Nurman, mengatakan even ini merupakan kali pertama yang menghadirkan tokoh Chase dan Marshall di Bekasi.

"Kita ingin lebih mengenalkan lagi karakter dan tokoh dari Paw Patrol, karena belum pernah ada di Bekasi. Jadi ini meet and greet Paw Patrol yang pertama kali di Bekasi dan ke 8 kali di Indonesia. Kebanyakan di Jakarta dan Surabaya," ujarnya.

Iqbal mengaku pengunjung anak-anak di Grand Metropolitan sangat antusias bertemu dengan karakter Chase dan Marshall yang menjadi tayangan setia Global TV. Terlebih anak-anak saat ini bisa dengan mudah mengakses film-film kartun kesayangan di aplikasi YouTube.

"Animo anak-anak sangat luar biasa mengenai karakter-karakter. Mereka tidak hanya tahu dari TV, tapi juga dari YouTube dan segala macam. Bisa dilihat juga tadi anak-anak begitu antusias ketemu karakter Chase dan Marshall," tuturnya.

Ke depannya, lanjut Iqbal, MNC Licensing berupaya memperluas cakupan area marketing promosi dan even, hingga ke kota-kota besar yang tersebar di seluruh Indonesia.

"Bukan hanya di Jabodetabek tapi juga di kota-kota besar lainnya selain Sura Lobaya, ada Medan, Bandung. Jadi seluruh Indonesia nanti bisa tercover," imbuhnya.

Nickelodeon India's Sonic Premieres 'Golmaal Jr.'

Nickelodeon Sonic, India's first channel for the action-loving generation, will premiere Golmaal Jr., a brand-new animated series based on the Golmaal movie franchise, in Monday 13th May 2019 at 1:30pm! Following launch, new episodes will air daily at 1:30pm on Sonic Gang. Check out the trailer below!:




Golmaal is a series of Indian action comedy films starring Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, and Tusshar Kapoor, directed by Rohit Shetty and produced by Dhillin Mehta. The franchise launched in 2006 with the movie Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, with Ajay, Tusshar, Arshad, Sharman Joshi and Rimi Sen as the central cast. It was followed by a sequel in 2008, Golmaal Returns, with Kareena Kapoor as the new leading lady and Shreyas Talpade replacing Sharman as Laxman. The third installment, Golmaal 3 was released in 2010 and became the second-highest-grossing Bollywood film of that year. The fourth instalment of this series, Golmaal Again, was released on the occasion of Diwali on 20 October 2017, this one going into the supernatural realm with Parineeti Chopra and Tabu on board. A fifth movie, Golmaal 5, is in the pipeline.


The films revolve around the lives of four (five in the third and fourth films) friends Gopal, Lucky, Madhav and Laxman (hence the title of the series is Golmaal or GoLMaL). It involves comical incidents taking place with them... usually leading to a dramatic end. The movies featured the characters:

Go (Gopal) - Played by Ajay Devgan
L (Lucky) - Played by Tusshar Kapoor
Ma (Madhav) - Played by Arshad Warsi
L (Laxman) - Played by Sharman Joshi in the first film. In second film, a new character of the same name (but different from the original Laxman) was played by Shreyas Talpade. In the third and forth film, Talpade and Kunal Khemu play two different characters, both named Laxman.

Golmaal Junior will have the same format as the movies and will have three central characters: Madhav, Gopal and Lucky. The show will release in May on Sonic channel and will have the plot of two mischievous but poles apart rival prank gangs fighting against each other in a comic way.

Golmaal Jr. won't be Rohit Shetty's first forray into television, with the film director and producers'Singham film series also being adapted into a animated series for kids, titled Little Singham. A source had told the Mumbai Mirror that Rohit has been actively involved with the planning of Golmaal Junior.

Update (14/4): Meet the new Gopal, Lucky, Laxman, Laxman 2 and Madhav from Nickelodeon’s upcoming show!


Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal franchise now has an animated version. Nickelodeon on Monday released the first look of the characters from its upcoming children’s show Golmaal Junior, based on Shetty’s Hindi comedy film series of the same name. The show features younger, animated versions of the lead characters from the Golmaal universe: Gopal, Lucky, Laxman, Laxman 2 and Madhav.

The series has been produced by Rohit Shetty Picturez in association with Reliance Animation. A release date is yet to be announced.

Nickelodeon said in a press note that the show will “revolve around the two prank gangs of Gopal and Madhav indulging into fun, chaos and drama”.

Four films in Shetty’s franchise have been released so far – Golmaal: Fun Unlimited (2006), Golmaal Returns (2008), Golmaal 3 (2010) and Golmaal Again (2017) – and a fifth is reportedly in the works.

The series follows the adventures of five eccentric friends, Gopal (Ajay Devgn), Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor), Madhav (Arshad Warsi) and two Laxmans (Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Kemmu). Golmaal Again (2017), which also starred Tabu, Prakash Raj, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Parineeti Chopra, was a massive hit.

What if we were to tell you that the fun doesn’t have to stop at the movie series?

Nickelodeon – India’s leading kid's entertainment franchise, has joined hands with Reliance Animation and Rohit Shetty Picturez to open up a whole new world of Golmaal movie series through their latest venture – Golmaal Junior. The 8th IP of the brand will recreate the magic of the iconic movies through tailor-made animation to appeal to kids and will showcase it on the kid’s channel -Sonic.

The show will bring your favorite Golmaal characters in an all-new animated Avataar while maintaining the spunk and quirkiness from their original characters. The story will revolve around the two prank gangs of Gopal and Madhav indulging into fun, chaos, and drama.

'Golmaal Junior's' animated protagonists borrow attributes from Rohit Shetty's film's characters

Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal series is getting an animated show for kids titled 'Golmaal Junior' and will feature the original protagonists, Gopal, two Laxmans, Madhav and Lucky. In the comedy franchise, the roles were played by Ajay Devgn, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Kemmu, Arshad Warsi and Tusshar Kapoor respectively. In the small screen version, which will air on television channel, the story will revolve around the two prank gangs headed by Gopal and Madhav.

It had learnt that like Ajay’s character, his junior alter ego will be the ringleader of his gang, while the kiddie gang has also borrowed attributes from their seniors. “The junior Lucky (originally played by Tusshar) is the silent member but this time, his get-up includes a big belly and a lollipop. The first Laxman of the two (Shreyas) is a lovable character and a confidante to his ‘Gopu’ and sports a nerdy look with a mushroom haircut and round spectacles. The second one (Kunal) has been given a messy avatar, and recites shayaris, just like the senior. The junior Madhav (Arshad) is as wicked as the senior one,” said a source.

Jointly produced by Rohit and Reliance animation, the show will premiere in May. The Golmaal franchise, which has had four instalments so far, kicked off in 2006 with Ajay, Tusshar, Arshad, Sharman Joshi and Rimi Sen as the central cast. It was followed by a sequel in 2008,'Golmaal Returns', with Kareena Kapoor as the new leading lady and Shreyas Talpade replacing Sharman as Laxman. The third instalment released two years later, followed by 'Golmaal Again' in 2017, this one going into the supernatural realm with Parineeti Chopra and Tabu on board. Rohit had recently announced that part five is currently being planned.

Mumbai (IANS) – Filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s forthcoming “Golmaal Junior” has got support from the Bollywood fraternity.

Over the last decade, Shetty’s iconic movie series “Golmaal” has regaled the audience. Now Nickelodeon has joined hands with Reliance Animation and Rohit Shetty Picturez to open up a whole new world of the “Golmaal” movie series through their latest venture “Golmaal Junior”.

It will recreate the magic of the iconic movies through tailor-made animation to appeal to children, and then showcase it on the children’s channel Sonic from May 13.

“For all the junior fans… ‘Golmaal’ goes junior! Enjoy,” Shetty posted on Instagram, along with a promo link of the show on his Instagram page.

It drew comments from celebrities like Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Farah Khan, Shamita Shetty, Neil Nitin Mukesh and more.

Ranveer wrote: “Go go go golmaaaal”, while Arjun commented: “Sir please, it’s time for one more.”

The show will bring the “Golmaal” characters in an all-new animated avatar while maintaining the spunk and quirkiness from their original characters.

The story will revolve around the two prank gangs of Gopal and Madhav indulging in fun, chaos and drama.

Merging universe of my films was big risk: Rohit Shetty


New Delhi, May 12 : Rohit Shetty has interwoven the world of "Singham", "Simmba" and his upcoming film "Sooryavanshi" - creating his own "cop universe" in Bollywood. But the filmmaker says the decision to merge together the popular films was not an easy one.

"I can't claim that I am making India's superheroes. But we are creating our own universe and I am happy that people are loving it and they know about this universe," Rohit told IANS.

"When I started with 'Simmba', when we were scripting for the film and we thought about the universe getting merged, I was a bit scared. Whether people will (like it)... Suddenly they should not feel 'what is happening'," he added.

Apart from being laced with the star power of Ranveer Singh and the charm of Sara Ali Khan, "Simmba" was lauded for bringing the world of Rohit's franchises together effortlessly.

Whether it was putting the cast of his "Golmaal" together in the electrifying "Aankh maare" with a potential hint about another film in the franchise, or Ajay Devgn coming to the rescue of Simmba in his Singham avatar, or the introduction of Akshay as "Sooryavanshi" in the end -- "Simmba" entertained fans for its crossover action drama.

Rohit is happy that the risk paid off well.

"I am happy that it was so-well received. It gave us the confidence and we had taken a bigger risk when we announced 'Sooryavanshi' and introduced the character in 'Simmba'.

Rohit Shetty is currently directing Sooryavanshi, which stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in lead roles.

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has said that making Golmaal feels like a responsibility as it has been appreciated by the audience over the years.

He was interacting with the media at the launch of upcoming children's show Golmaal Junior, based on his Hindi comedy film series in Mumbai on Friday.

Talking about Golmaal Junior, Rohit said, “Golmaal is basically kid's brand. I am saying this because when adults come to see 'Golmaal' they become kids. For me, Ajay (Devgn), Arshad (Warsi), Kunal (Kemmu) and Shreyas (Talpade), it has been like a childhood memory. It's been 14 years since the time we started shooting since year 2005.


"I feel the Golmaal series is hugely appreciated among kids so we thought that we should take it to an another level. Then, we got an idea that we should make it in animated format so that kids can watch it on daily basis. Audience can see next franchise of Golmaal in every two or three years but they can also see animated version of it on television on daily basis."

Rohit added, "The Golmaal series is very close to my heart. When we started shooting it in 2005, it was a normal comedy film and we never thought it will become such huge household brand. Now, making Golmaal feels like a responsibility and the last instalment Golmaal Again was hugely appreciated by audience and especially kids. So, it feels really nice when your film does well."

Talking about his next cop film Sooryavanshi, which features Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in lead roles, Rohit said, "There is still a lot more time for us to finish shooting of Sooryavanshi. We have just completed four days of shooting of it."

In Sooryavanshi, Akshay will be playing the role of the head of an anti-terrorism squad along with Katrina. Produced by Reliance Entertainment, Dharma Productions and Cape of Good Films, Sooryavanshi is scheduled to release on Eid 2020.

Adding his thought about his understanding of the animation space, he said, "The growth in the TV and digital space is gradual, and with this, we'll get a better reach. We did little Singham and now Golmaal Jr. is also going to make it there. With time animation will also improve. Parents inform us that they like Singham and Simbaa, which kids have loved. Now we think this as a responsibility, and keep them in mind when we make a film or a show because we reach out to the audience of all ages. I feel privileged to have kids like my show, and with the audience responding positively, I want to work hard and keep myself busy. With Singham, Simbaa and the franchise, we are creating our own universe. We thought of expanding it because the response is great from the audience."

After tasting success with films and animations shows, we asked him if he would venture into theatrical releases of animation films, he said, "I don't know at present. My journey of making animation shows on TV is doing well and I'm wanting to explore this space and get established. For anything to succeed and make a mark, the story and techniques have to be really good.  But theatrical releases for us (at the production house), we are a young company and we will wait for the response, see for a year or two, and then take a call basis that."

Rohit Shetty on the animation avatar of Golmaal and expanding his cop universe in films

Rohit Shetty is back with a new instalment of his laugh riot Golmaal, but it’s screening not in theatres but on the telly. On the sidelines of the launch of the Sonic Nickelodeon show (Golmaal Jr airs at 1.30pm daily) at ITC Maratha in Mumbai last Friday, the hitmaker spoke to t2 about his animation venture in which the mischief-makers create havoc as children in Golden View High School.

It must be a compliment having a cartoon series inspired by your film franchise Golmaal?

When we started the film in 2005, we did not even think of a second film. That was 14 years ago. Now it has become a household brand. It belongs to the audience. We just do the work and serve them. Reliance (Entertainment) came up with this idea of doing it in animation.

You started this trend with Singham (which was made into Little Singham last year for Discovery Kids)…

I never thought kids liked these films so much, especially Singham, till parents started telling me ‘hamara bachcha aisa karta hai’ (shows sparring moves). For us, it was an action film. Perhaps the popularity increased because of the combined reach of film and television. By the time we were making Golmaal, we knew that it would be for the family and kids would be coming to watch it.

What was your son’s reaction?

Ishaan was very excited when I made Singham. He used to make cars crash into each other with his toy cars. Now he is 13. On hearing Singham was being animated, he told me that children would like it. I said: ‘Achha, tu bahut bada ho gaya hai!’ (Laughs)

How did this trend of animating your films start?

When we merged with Reliance, they had an animation company. They said: ‘Why don’t you take over the company and start work on it?’ They came up with the idea of turning Singham into animation. I said: ‘Chalo, let’s try”. When I saw the edit, I really liked it. It worked wonders for the channel. I hope the same happens with Golmaal Jr also.

How different will the animation series be from the film in terms of the concept?

Everyone knows Gopal, Lucky, Laxman and Madhav. Their character traits are same — masti khor hai. So we show what happens when they are young. Golmaal was a two-and-half hour film. This is

10-hour footage that will be shown over a month’s time. Gradually, the story will grow and expand with every character. And where kids are concerned, the whole take has to be different. In films, you cater to everyone, all ages. Here it is only kids. They are not that much worried about where it will go but how it goes is important for them.

What is your contribution to the show?

The final draft of each episode comes to me. If I feel like, I tweak something. The animation team is really good. They understand kids.

Any thoughts of ‘Little Simmba?’

We have not even thought about it (laughs). We just made the film (Simmba). It has done so well. We are the only company which has two franchises in animation. As it is, it’s a big responsibility and requires a lot of focus. We cannot let anything go wrong as it would hurt the franchise and make us lose our kid audience. We thought of Golmaal Jr only after a year of Little Singham.

That’s why you have not announced ‘Golmaal 5’ yet.

No, it has not been announced. Shreyas (Talpade) just said uss pe kaam chal raha hai. It will take a lot of time.

Will there be Golmaal toys and video games?

Kids are not so much into toys now. It will take time to build on the franchise. For now, we are concentrating only on animation.

Do you see yourself making an animation film for theatrical release?

The journey of television is going very well. I think we need to establish ourselves more in TV animation. We are a young company in animation. We have just started with Little Singham last year and now we are launching Golmaal Jr. We will wait for a year or two and see how it goes.

Do you have a favourite cartoon?

We didn’t have Indian animation characters then, Chacha Chaudhury type. In comics, Tintin was my favourite. I get nostalgic when I see Tintin in animation.

You directed Singham and Simmba, and now Sooryavanshi is happening. Are you trying to create an Avengers-like universe?

Avengers is too big a brand to compare us with. We are trying to create a universe and we are open about it. We were worried whether people would understand Simmba but it worked in a big way for us. So we are going ahead and expanding that universe.

In your world of male cops…

Female cops bhi aayegi. Time lagega. Main kuchh nahin chhupata.

Who do you see in the role of a female cop?

Yeh main bolne waala nahin! (Laughs) Kal subah ka headline ho jaayega. Ek toh main Twitter-witter pe hoon nahin. Mujhe bahut tension ho jaati hai.

Did you like action films as a child?

My father was an action director. So my background was in films. Just like my son says he wants to be in films. For me, too, it was a set career path — be it as director or action director. By the time I was 16, I was an assistant director. By 17, I was first assistant director in Phool aur Kaante. My father expired when I was eight years old. My mother brought us up as a single parent. She was a stuntwoman. That’s how my parents met.

I am 45 now. My mom stays with me. My work ethic comes from her and Ajay (Devgn). He is such a big star, yet such is his sincerity that he has never missed a flight in his life, though I may have missed one or two. I am lucky to have been surrounded by such people early on in life.

You have had a film every year, except after Dilwale.

I took a year’s break after Dilwale as I was setting up my own production company. Since then, I have produced all my films. I love going to work. We were shooting for Sooryavanshi (starring Akshay Kumar) today. It was so dusty that I got an infection in my throat. We packed up at 7.30pm and I came here. This will continue till past midnight. I will have to be back tomorrow morning for the next shift. But I am happy.

What news of Sooryavanshi?

We started on May 6. This schedule is till June 30. We will go to Bangkok now and to Hyderabad after that. The next schedule will be in November-December.

One hears you are quite a prankster on the sets.

The team which works with me is like a family. Someone was 16 when he joined and is now an adult. Someone got married while working. We are the only team that makes films every six months or three months, for that matter. Simmba abhi tak satellite pe aayi nahin hai, Sooryavanshi shuru ho chuki hai. They are together round the year. As a team, we are a happy team. Obviously there is pressure, but we see to it that we are happy. It’s a question of one Friday whether audiences like a film or not but the journey of a year or two to make the film should be good.

Rohit Shetty on Akshay Kumar's citizenship row, Golmaal Jr and comparisons of his cop-verse to Avengers franchise

Director Rohit Shetty has spoken in support of Akshay Kumar after the Sooryavanshi actor received backlash for holding a Canadian citizenship. Talking about the issue, Shetty said that people would soon forget about the issue because of his charitable disposition.

"It is just a matter of few days and people will forget about it, since he has taken up the responsibility of helping people. I know him very well, while he helps others a lot, he avoids blabbering about it," Shetty said in a statement.

Talking about Golmaal Junior, the upcoming animation television show based on his blockbuster franchise Golmaal, Shetty shared that the massive success of Little Singham propelled him towards making a series on the comedy films. "The appreciation Little Singham got from kids gave us the confidence to think that we have one more franchise which is much larger and can work well with kids. That's how Golmaal Junior happened."

He added that he takes his franchise as a responsibility. "Whatever you do, it is like a responsibility because you can't kill your brand if Golmaal Again goes wrong, or Golmaal Junior goes wrong. Because you may lose your kid audience."

After the back-to-back successes of Singham, Singham Returns and last year's Simmba, many wondered if Shetty is on his way to create a cop universe akin to the Avengers franchise and MCU. "The Avengers brand is too big, and comparing my cop-verse to it is like a joke," Shetty quipped.

He further remarked that he was scared to include Singham's character in Simmba, "but it worked in a very big way so we are just going ahead and expanding it (the cop-verse)."

He added that the female cop film will definitely happen, but it will take some time as the film demands a "very strong script." He also assured that Golmaal 5 is also on the cards.

The children had a lot of fun with Golmaal Jr. Toons as the characters were in Bhopal on Tuesday.

The channel Sonic from the Nickelodeon franchise in association with Reliance Animation and Rohit Shetty Picture has recreated the magic of the iconic Golmaal movies through a fun animated series that will entertain kids. The visit of Golmaal Jr toons to Dale Town Dance Company in Bhopal made for a day to remember for kids. Toons of Golmaal Jr. informed the kids about this new animated show and kids were overjoyed to see toons among them, they danced on the Golmaal song and clicked selfies with toons.

Further strengthening the legacy of the Golmaal movie franchise, Golmaal Jr. is an animated series that recreates the comic chaos of the film by pitting two prank gangs against each other. Notorious, mischievous and full of life, these two groups are poles apart. Much like their original counterparts, junior Gopal, Madhav, Laxman and Lucky are a bunch of pranksters, expert in creating havoc owing to their never-ending quarrels.

As their banters evolve through funny situations, the fantastic five promise to entertain the young audience and ensure they have the time of their lives.

Sonic’s animated ‘Golmaal Jr.’ maintains the charm of the original franchise

Golmaal Jr., the newest kids’ animated series which airs on SONIC is a slice of life for kids. The series promises endless fun, laughter to kids.

Based on one of the most popular movie franchises of Hindi cinema – Golmaal, which has been immensely popularised by known filmmaker Rohit Shetty, the animated show brings to life the relatable characters, humour and fun.

While talking to the animation team behind the 2D series, Reliance Animation COO Tejonidhi Bhandare said, “This series will focus on fun and only fun. Golmaal as a franchisee is a fun content and we have tried to replicate the same fun for the kids.”

The channel decided to carefully take the five beloved characters from Golmaal franchise and animated them into series that the kids will relate to. “We have retained some characters and have paid homage to the first Golmaal movie, and took the famous character of Utpal Dutt,” said Nickelodeon executive VP programming content and research Anu Sikka in a conference.

Targeted to the age group of six to 12 years, the humour is the key ingredient that will attract that age bracket. The broadcaster has tried to give full justice to the original franchise with the use of proper elements. Viacom18 Hindi mass entertainment and the kids TV head Nina Elavia Jaipuria thinks that the show will be entertaining not just for the targeted group but for elders too.

The original IP of Golmaal rests with Rohit Shetty Picturez and the animation content is being held jointly by Reliance Animation and Rohit Shetty Picturez. “Rohit Shetty is our mentor and he has given us the line of direction on the basis of which the series are created. There are certain do’s and don’ts for the series which needs to be adhered to and we are in sync with that,” added Bhandare.

Rohit Shetty in a press conference said, “Little Singham was well received by kids, and we decided to create another property into animation. Gradually we can expand the series, considering the fun from the movies. We are not worried about where it will go but how far it will go.”

The series subtly shows that friendship is above all and in hard time its only friendship that comes to the rescue. Bhandare thinks that the holiday season and the right spot for the content, with a strong marketing strategy is definitely going to drive the kids to watch the show. “Once the kids are hooked on to the show then you have a game on hand once the school re-opens,” mentioned he.

The entire pre and post-production has been done at Reliance Animation studio in Pune. The team is enjoying working on the animation as they like the characters and are having a good time creating them. “There has been time that the team has finished an episode in eight days, working day and night and are not allowing us to outsource the episode just for the love of the characters,” expressed Bhandare.

Sonic thought this type of content is a game changer and addressing the right target audience who are just entering teens would want to see fun content relevant to their age. The brand is already well-associated with the target group and with Nick having the largest reach; this is definitely a good combination!

How marketing strategies are helping to create bigger brands out of Indian animated IPs


For instance, the launch of Golmaal Jr. on Sonic (part of Nickelodeon) was supported by a dynamic 360 degree marketing and communication plan that included an aggressive TV plan, within the Viacom18 network and outside the network. A high decibel outdoor plan along with mall visibility is sure to capture eyeballs across the country.

In a recent round table press conference, Viacom18 Kids Network and Hindi Mass Entertainment head Nina Jaipuria mentioned, “We’re a 360 degree entertainer across all platforms. We have almost 11,000 reach in retail and ‘Back to School’ products. For Golmaal Jr. we’re checking highly visible outdoor plans. From visibility in malls, to retail outlets, to transit media branding, to partnering with fun-zones, fun photo opportunities with the iconic Golmaal bike and audio standees at multiplexes playing the catchy Golmaal title track, pranks on Fever FM and Golmaal promos in theaters, we have a lot that’s sure to break the clutter.”

There are various innovations lined up on the digital front also, starting with the innovative YouTube unskippable ad that is a category first.There would be a large influencer campaign reaching out to the digital audience. Keeping in mind the sensibility of the social media natives, they have also launched a challenge – #GolmaalJrChallenge where kids would be asked to replicate the popular Golmaal dance step!

Similarly Sony YAY! have exciting plans for kids too. Last month, the kids channel has announced a massive 124 city van activation to amplify its on-ground engagement with kids. The van activation promises a fun-filled time for young ones with exciting show themed games and a host of other activities.

With specially designed vans set to give everyone the reel-to-real experience, Sony YAY! is going all out to transform its pit-stops into YAY-zones. SPN Kids genre business head Leena Lele Dutta noted, “This year we are not coming out with any new IP but we are doing a lot of activities with our existing ones. We have our van activation across almost over 100 cities and towns through the length and breadth of the country. So, that’s a big big initiative. In one city they will visit two to three locations, collate kids, have contest, get inclusion from parents. So, we’re trying to make sure our characters’ presence is widespread than launching another IP and focusing on that. This entire year it’s about making our IPs popular through our PTL activities and this we plan to take the entire summer season on ground. We have mall activations, bookshops, fun fares and all of that where kids are associated. You’ll find our association with Imagica and more. And we’ll make sure that our existing characters popularising Honey Bunny and KickO will reflect what our on ground strategy also.”

Sony YAY! also lately brought on board popular rap-singer and musician Badshah for the title track of KickO and Super SpeedO.

Green Gold Animation founder and CEO Rajiv Chilaka said, “To establish our brands, the biggest marketing strategy we took up with our original productions was to work on the best content to bring the bands closest to its audience. Exciting stories ensured that the viewership of the shows increased. This again was followed up with attractive merchandising and exhaustive events activation, that kept the brands close to its fans and help establish them.”

For Cosmos-Maya, the focus has always been on carefully calculated digital and print campaign. To quote a recent example, for Inspector Chingum’s launch campaign on Disney’s Hungama TV, the story had coverage in more than 150 print publications all over the country covering all major regions and languages. Toonz Animation has tied up with Disney to air the multi-episode animated television series from June and the series is expected to receive a fantastic reception.

Mientras que intenta descubrir al cabeza de la banda, Kid Danger es seducido por una de sus integrantes, lo que lleva a un enfrentamiento ni más ni menos que con su mejor amigo Capitán Man.

Además, los más pequeños de la casa pueden disfrutar de Las aventuras de Kid Danger donde Capitán Man y Kid Danger tienen que encargarse de una misión muy especial: recoger 1.000 perritos calientes para una fiesta cumpleaños. Pero, ¿podrán conseguirlo sin que nada los interrumpa?

En otro de los episodios, Capitán Man y Kid Danger entran en acción cuando el científico Schwoz convierte a Charlotte en mitad niña, ¡mitad pulpo! Sin embargo, ¡algo mágico sucede! Cuando se unen las dos mitades, ¡aparece una furgoneta que se lleva a Bob Esponja a la legendaria ciudad!

Por otro lado, los cuatrillizos Nicky, Ricky, Dicky y Dawn llenan de risas Nickelodeon con su aventura en el campamento de verano. Allí, deciden inventarse una nueva identidad sin que nadie lo sepa, pero todo se complica de una manera que ellos nunca imaginarían. Los cuatrillizos ponen fin al maratón cuando, en otro episodio, ganan unas vacaciones en familia con los gastos pagados a Hollywood. Lawton, OK Firefighter to Appear on Nickelodeon’s 'Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader’

Lawton, Oklahoma - A Lawton Firefighter is back in the spotlight, this time on national television. On Monday, June 24th, viewers can catch Sonny Puletasi on Nickelodeon’s Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader!


Puletasi gained attention after taking Drake’s “In My Feelings” Challenge, with a dance at the fire station last July. It quickly went viral and caught the attention of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader producers. He got the call last month, asking if he was interested. He then applied, and shortly after, he and his family found themselves on a plane to Hollywood.

“It was overwhelming and fun at the same time," said Puletasi. "It was fun working with the producers, the kids, and John Cena. It was a blast.”

He couldn’t give too much away about the show, but challenges you to play along with him.

“Try to answer the questions before I answer," he said. "Let’s see if you’re really smarter than a 5th grader.”

He’s never been on national television before, and says he was proud to represent Lawton.

“I went on the show with my fire shirt," said Puletasi. “I think I represented our Fire Department and the City of Lawton well. It was fun.”

Another viral star to take part on Nickelodeon's reimagined Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader series was Sister Mary Jo Sobieck, whose viral Chicago White Sox first pitch is up for a 2019 ESPY Award. Sister Mary Jo, a theology teacher at Marian Catholic High School in south suburban Chicago Heights, received a nomination earlier for "Best Viral Sports Moment," for her impressive pitching during the high school's night at Guaranteed Rate Field last August.

Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana Investigating 'Bachelor' Alum Melissa Rycroft's Illness in the Dominican Republic

The Bachelor alum Melissa Rycroft's mysterious illness is at the center of an investigation at the Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana hotel resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, where she was recently vacationing with her family.


Update (6/23) - Melissa Rycroft has made a full recovery.

Nickelodeon Resort staff told TMZ Friday that they are still in contact with Rycroft and have hired an outside firm to look at their cleaning and sanitary practices to see if there is a link to her illness.

Sources close to Rycroft said she did not spend her entire trip at the resort, so it is not clear if her illness was contracted there or elsewhere in the Dominican Republic. The site also reports that she took extra precautions by not drinking tap water and staying away from the hotel mini bar. She did have some drinks from the drink cart and drinks at other bars at the resort.

Notably, Rycroft, 36, is the only member of her family who got sick. Her husband, Tye Strickland, only drank beer during the trip, so one theory is Rycroft drank tainted alcohol. The couple are parents to Ava, 8, Beckett, 5, and Cayson, 3, and all three did not get sick either.

The resort is treating Rycroft's illness as an "isolated incident" and they are taking "all possible measures to ensure a safe and healthy vacation environment, exceeding preventative measures and enforcing strict sanitation protocols."

Rycroft got sick during the second day of their trip. Her representative said earlier this week she "got an upset stomach on the second day of vacation, but it passed. Once they come home, she got severe cramping. It has lasted for over a week, and she's currently getting tested for possible parasites and any other infections. She's assuming it's something food borne, but no one else in her family is ill."

The former Dancing with the Stars contestant has kept fans up to date on her health on Instagram. On Thursday, she shared a selfie from her couch, confirming, "I'm not dead" in the caption.

Rycroft's illness came a few weeks after Shark Tank star Barbara Corcoran said her brother John died while vacationing in the Dominican Republic in late April. Corcoran said John suffered from an existing heart condition.

Rycroft is a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader who appeared on The Bachelor Season 13 and Dancing With The Stars Seasons 8 and 15.

First Look at Swiper the Fox in 'Dora and the Lost City of Gold'

Paramount Pictures has unveiled a first-look at the CG-animated Swiper the fox from Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Paramount Players and Nickelodeon Movies' upcoming live-action Dora the Explorer movie inspired based on Nickelodeon's beloved animated preschool series of the same name! In the film, Swiper is voiced by Benicio del Toro (Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Avengers: Infinity War).

The appearance of Swiper has been met with mostly positive reviews, Twitterusers saying that he looks better than Sonic from the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie, which due to a largely critical response from fans, have made the producers redesign the character for the movie.

In the popular Dora TV series, Swiper appeared in nearly every episode to steal Dora's hard-won artifacts. The pint-sized adventurer then uttered one of the show's signature catchphrases, uttered three times, "Swiper, no swiping." Whenever Swiper is been caught in the act, he utters his iconic catchphrase, "Oh, man!". Swiper is voiced by Marc Weiner (Weinerville, Figure It Out) in the series, who will also star in the movie as the voice of Map!

Dora and the Lost City of Gold is released in movie theatres across the U.S.A. on Friday, August 9, 2019, followed by a worldwide roll-out soon after.

In Dora and the Lost City of Gold, having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents, nothing could prepare Dora (Isabela Moner) for her most dangerous adventure ever – High School. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey, voiced by Danny Trejo), Diego (Jeffrey Wahlberg), a mysterious jungle inhabitant (Eugenio Derbez), and a rag tag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents (Eva Longoria, Michael Peña) and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost city of gold.


Dora and the Lost City of Gold is directed by James Bobin, produced by Christopher Robin producer Kristin Burr, who is joined by longtime Bobin associate, executive producer John G. Scotti (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted, Alice Through the Looking Glass) as well as executive producers Julia Pistor (The Spiderwick Chronicles, A Series of Unfortunate Events) and Eugenio Derbez. Tom Wheeler wrote the story, and Nicholas Stoller and Matthew Robinson penned the screenplay. Walden Media is co-financing and co-producing the film with Paramount.

'Double Dare' Season 2 to Feature 'SpongeBob SquarePants Week'&'WWE Superstars Week'

Who lives in a Pineapple under the sea, and is about to take on Nickelodeon's legendary Double Dare obstacle course? SpongeBob SquarePants!


It has been revealed that Nickelodeon has just filmed a sponge-tastic SpongeBob SquarePants Week of it's hit game show, Double Dare!

Update (6/21) - Marc Summers has announced on Instagram that Nickelodeon USA will be hosting a special "SpongeBob Week" in July 2019! According to Zap2it, "SpongeBob Week" will begin on either Monday, July 8, 2019 or Tuesday, July 9, 2019.

Update (6/23) - Drake Bell and Guava Juice will take part in "SpongeBob Week Game 2"!

In "SpongeBob Week Game 1", two four-person teams compete in a series of challenges for the chance to advance in the first-ever SpongeBob Week Tournament; only one squad will swim its way onto the obstacle course and into the next games to play with their favorite celebrities.

It's currently unknown who'll be taking on all the super sloppy and slimy challenges in the week of SpongeBob SquarePants-themed episodes of Double Dare - it could be the show's voice cast, famous SpongeBob fans, SpongeBob superfans, or a mixture of all three. It could also feature the cast of SpongeBob SquarePants itself! It's not impossible, Cat and Dog from CatDog was a panelist on a episode of Nickelodeon's Figure It Out in the '90s - and got slimed! Maybe we'll see Fred take on the famous Double Dare obstacle course!


It's also currently unknown when Double Dare's SpongeBob SquarePants Week will air, however, it's thought that SpongeBob SquarePants Week will air in either May or July 2019, as part of Nickelodeon's "The Best Year Ever" celebrations to mark SpongeBob SquarePants' landmark 20th anniversary.

The “Best Year Ever” kicks off Friday, July 12, with the premiere of “SpongeBob’s Big Birthday Blowout,” an original mixed live-action and animated special. In the one-hour special, it’s SpongeBob’s birthday, and Patrick and SpongeBob journey to the surface world and come across a few familiar characters during lunchtime rush at The Trusty Slab restaurant. Meanwhile, the Bikini Bottom residents set up a surprise party for SpongeBob. The special which feature for the first time the celebrated voice talent behind SpongeBob, Patrick, Mr. Krabs, Sandy, Squidward and Plankton playing live-action doppelgänger versions of the animated characters they voice. The “Best Year Ever” will lead up to the Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies theatrical, The SpongeBob Movie: It's a Wonderful Sponge, coming summer 2020.

The SpongeBob SquarePants Week of episodes will form part of Double Dare's recently wrapped second season, which will also includes: the recently aired Kids' Choice Awards Week (March 11-14) and the upcoming WWE Superstars Week (which is speculated to air around the time of Wrestlemania 35 on April 7, 2019; two of the teams in one episodes will be Little Giants vs Generation Yes), Halloween Week (airing sometime around Halloween), and Holiday Week (Christmas Week; airing sometime around the holidays).

Update (3/22) - Nickelodeon will host Double Dare WWE Superstars Week between Monday, April 8 - Thursday, April 11, 2019! The news was announced by Double Dare legend Marc Summers! One of the child contestants taking part in the special week will be Steven Weitz.

Double Dare season two episodes were taped at CBS Studios-Radford in California between February 27-28, 2019, as well as March 2, 4-5, and 7-8, 2019. Three episodes were filmed per day. There are thought to be 20 episodes in total for season two.

A major difference between Double Dare seasons one and two is, season two features a new tournament-style to it, where "Game 1" is 4v4, then "Game 2" and "Game 3" split up half of the winning team to celebrity contestants, and "Finals" is where the winners from 2 & 3 face-off against each other.

In additional news, On Camera Audiences, which distributes tickets to watch and be in the audience of television shows being filmed, is reporting that Nickelodeon has already commissioned Double Dare season three, which is set to go into production in 2020! The news has yet to be confirmed by Nickelodeon.
