New and returning series to premiere across MTV, Comedy Central, Paramount Channel and Nickelodeon platforms in 2019


BALI, 24 APRIL 2019 – Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN), a division of Viacom Inc. (NASDAQ: VIA, VIAB), will be scaling up the development and production of original content for MTV, Comedy Central, Paramount Channel and Nickelodeon in Southeast Asia.

In response to Southeast Asia being the world’s fastest growing game market[1], VIMN has introduced MTV Got Game for fans who have made gaming a way of life. A dedicated gaming and e-sports vertical that spans MTV’s platforms, it will include in-house production of short form content around gaming, on-air playlists inspired by e-sports, as well as partnerships with the industry – all through a distinctly MTV lens.

As part of this, the new Got Game Weekly series will focus on news from the intersection of gaming, e-sports and popular culture. In Got Game: Face Off, MTV pits celebs against each other for FIFA console action and to crown the champion! Guests include Singaporean national footballer Zulfahmi Arifin, and regional artists Joe Flizzow, Sezairi, Jon Chua, Fion, Shaykh, THELIONCITYBOY, and Tim De Cotta. MTV Got Game is also available on MTV Asia’s website, and the content series will launch on linear and online channels soon.

In addition to content created under the MTV Got Game vertical, MTV will premiere Season 4 of video dance tutorial show OK Danceoke in June.

Comedy Central’s original stand-up series, Stand-Up, Asia! will also be renewed for the fourth year. In this upcoming season, expect an evolved format in a fresh setting. A unique mix of stand-up comedy and character sketches will continue to focus on distinctly Asian cultural touchpoints and a thematic approach. Over 10 comics will take it up a notch, continuing to serve Comedy Central’s vision of leading the charge for regional comic talent.

Movies form the backbone of Paramount Channel so in a new short-form series launching in June, personalities from film, TV, music, and Bellator athletes share what excites them in movies – their favourite genres, actors, or quirky nuggets of information about shows.

For the younger set, Nickelodeon continues to make the world a more playful place with short form content centered on fitness and craft for kids. In Nickified Sports, kids will attempt different sports but with a Nick twist, by using regular household items such as a broom in a javelin throw. Funny Fitness with Robbie encourages kids to stay active, with exercises that they can do at home such as jumping jacks or burpees. Last but not least, prepare for the unexpected on Kids Ask the Burning Questions where children interview adults and get the low-down on what adults really think! These will roll out on-air, online and in-app from May.

An example of evolved formats is MTV Asia’s reboot of the iconic hip hop show YO! MTV Raps. In addition to a linear series that premiered in mid-April, multiple digital short form offerings across MTV Asia’s Facebook, YouTube and Twitter platforms were launched in parallel. Featuring over 30 rappers from 11 countries, this reboot was commissioned on the back of a successful YO! special which aired in June 2018. The top performing 5-artist Cypher* video in the special received over 1.3 million video views in Southeast Asia. This special was also awarded ‘Best Music or Dance Programme’ at the Asian Academy Creative Awards in December 2018.

Viacom has produced and commissioned a record amount of original content in the Asia Pacific over the past 12 months. This includes MTV’s TRL in Australia, MTV Unplugged in Australia and Japan, MTV Asia’s MTV Jammin’[2] and MTV Meets[3], Nick Jr.’s Ready Set Dance in Australia, and Comedy Central’s Comedians Solve World Problems Asia. Teen Mom Australia is currently in production and slated to premiere across MTV International later this year, and Nickelodeon Australia’s locally produced reality series Slime Cup returns for a fourth season on 1 July.

BURBANK, Calif.--Nickelodeon and CBS Television Studios announced the greenlight of a new animated “Star Trek” series to be developed by Emmy Award winners Kevin and Dan Hageman (“Trollhunters” and “Ninjago”) and overseen for Nickelodeon by Ramsey Naito, EVP, Animation Production and Development, Nickelodeon.

Debuting exclusively on Nickelodeon, the series expands the “Star Trek” universe for a new generation of fans. The new original CG-animated series follows a group of lawless teens who discover a derelict Starfleet ship and use it to search for adventure, meaning and salvation.

The series will be from CBS’ Eye Animation Productions, CBS Television Studios’ new animation arm; Secret Hideout; and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Katie Krentz, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth will serve as executive producers alongside Kevin and Dan Hageman. Aaron Baiers will serve as a co-executive producer.

The animated series is the newest addition to the expanding “Star Trek” television universe. It joins STAR TREK: DISCOVERY and STAR TREK: SHORT TREKS, a series of short stories tied to DISCOVERY; the new untitled “Star Trek” series featuring Sir Patrick Stewart reprising his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard; STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS from Mike McMahan (“Rick and Morty”), an animated series targeted at mature audiences; and a new “Star Trek” project based on “Section 31,” which is in development with Michelle Yeoh attached to star. All these projects, except the new Nickelodeon edition, are on the CBS streaming platform CBS All Access in the U.S.

Emmy Award-winning brothers Kevin and Dan Hageman have written and produced some of the biggest animated franchises in film and television. They served as co-executive producers on the Emmy Award-winning series “Trollhunters,” co-created the hit “The LEGO Movie,” wrote and executive produced “LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu” and developed the theatrical “The Lego Ninjago Movie.” Additional credits include “Hotel Transylvania” (story creators) and “The Croods 2” (writers), along with the upcoming live-action feature “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” (writers).

The new “Star Trek” series is the third animated series from CBS Television Studios, following STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS for CBS All Access and OUR CARTOON PRESIDENT for SHOWTIME.

VIACOM EXPANDS PRESENCE IN THE LIVE STREAMING SPACE WITH CHARTER AND FUBOTV PARTNERSHIPS

Two new deals represent Viacom’s latest strategic moves to put its content on next-generation platforms.

Viacom content will be newly available to millions of potential viewers on two streaming platforms, according to a pair of separate partnerships with Charter Communications and fuboTV announced earlier today. Together, these deals illustrate Viacom’s continued, strategic focus on making its content available on next-generation platforms to meet the needs of today’s—and tomorrow’s—consumers, as well as position itself as a key partner to an expanding network of industry leaders and innovators.

As announced this afternoon, Viacom will be one of Charter’s programming partners for “Spectrum TV Essentials,” a new streaming service set to launch by the end of March. As well, in a separate deal announced earlier today with fuboTV, content from across Viacom’s portfolio will be available across the fuboTV’s suite of packages.

The Deals in Brief

The big idea: Viacom is moving beyond its linear network legacy to increase the availability of its programming—including hits like Comedy Central’s The Daily Show and MTV’s Jersey Shore: Family Vacation—for live and on-demand streaming platforms. This means its content is available for those who choose to pay for a subscription service in addition to, or as an alternative to, a traditional cable subscription.

Industry context: The move signals that Viacom’s a valuable partner in the fragmented video distribution landscape—dubbed “OTT Overload” by AdWeek . The ecosystem is slated to become even more competitive in the next year with the debut of The Walt Disney Company’s Disney+ platform, AT&T’s yet-to-be-named direct-to-consumer platform, and an ever-increasing number of a la carte OTT offerings from cable companies and wireless providers.

Good to know: Viacom’s also invested in a streaming model that’s supported by advertising rather than subscription fees (in other words, free for consumers). Viacom agreed to acquire the ad-supported streaming service Pluto TV earlier this month. The deal, which is expected to close at the end of March, will put its programming in front of more than 12 million subscribers and position it as a leading content provider in the free-streaming ecosystem.

On-the-record: “I think one of the things we've done as a company in the last couple of years is to make acquisitions that are really, really transformative of our business,” said Shari Redstone, the non-executive vice chair of Viacom’s board of directors, recently in a conversation with Bob Bakish during a Viacom town hall event.

A Launch Partner for Charter’s Spectrum TV Essentials

Priced at $14.99 plus tax per month, the over-the-top (OTT) Spectrum TV Essentials video service will offer more than 60 live lifestyle, entertainment, and news channels to the Spectrum internet customers who don’t subscribe to the cabler’s video services.

“We’re thrilled to expand and deepen our relationship with Charter. They share both our commitment to the evolution of the Pay TV ecosystem as well as our understanding of the changing needs of consumers,” said Viacom President and CEO Bob Bakish in the release. “As the video marketplace continues to segment across price points and offerings, we believe a high quality, lower priced option for internet-only subscribers is very important.”

“Spectrum TV Essentials is an OTT offering designed to provide Spectrum Internet-only customers a new low-price, high-value video option,” said Tom Rutledge, CEO and chairman of Charter in the announcement. “As we began to assemble the rights for this new video service, we received great enthusiasm and encouragement from these key programming partners, who share our view and embrace creating an innovative video offering we believe will resonate with our internet customers. Notably, Viacom shared its strong belief and research that suggests there is a large untapped opportunity for a low-priced, entertainment-only bundle unencumbered by the high cost of broadcast retransmission consent fees and expensive sports programming.”

Expanding fuboTV’s Content Offerings

The fuboTV partnership will make content from Viacom’s core networks (which include MTV, Comedy Central, BET, and VH1) available to stream on fuboTV’s base package, while an expanded portfolio of channels (which include BET Her, MTV2 and Logo) will be available across fuboTV’s premiere packages. Plus, Viacom’s Telefe and MTV Tr3 networks will expand fuboTV’s Spanish-language base package, “fubo Latino.”

“fuboTV is quickly evolving as a major force in the streaming television space, and the addition of Viacom’s media networks as a cornerstone of fuboTV’s entertainment offering demonstrates the power and popularity of our global brands and programming,” said Tom Gorke, EVP, head of distribution and business development at Viacom in the announcement . “This is a great opportunity to continue to grow our reach and audiences across the OTT landscape and connect with our fans wherever they consume content.”

fuboTV is a rapidly growing, ad-supported live streaming service. Since launching in 2015 as the “Netflix of soccer,” it’s attracted a quarter of a million subscribers and expanded beyond sports programming. It was the first MVPD to offer live 4K HDR video, and introduced addressable advertising in January 2018 —months before its competitors in the live-streaming space.

Nickelodeon Sonic, India's first channel for the action-loving generation, will premiere Golmaal Jr., a brand-new animated series based on the Golmaal movie franchise, in Monday 13th May 2019 at 1:30pm! Golmaal is a series of Indian action comedy films starring Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, and Tusshar Kapoor, directed by Rohit Shetty and produced by Dhillin Mehta. The franchise launched in 2006 with the movie Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, with Ajay, Tusshar, Arshad, Sharman Joshi and Rimi Sen as the central cast. It was followed by a sequel in 2008, Golmaal Returns, with Kareena Kapoor as the new leading lady and Shreyas Talpade replacing Sharman as Laxman. The third installment, Golmaal 3 was released in 2010 and became the second-highest-grossing Bollywood film of that year. The fourth instalment of this series, Golmaal Again, was released on the occasion of Diwali on 20 October 2017, this one going into the supernatural realm with Parineeti Chopra and Tabu on board. A fifth movie, Golmaal 5, is in the pipeline.


The films revolve around the lives of four (five in the third and fourth films) friends Gopal, Lucky, Madhav and Laxman (hence the title of the series is Golmaal or GoLMaL). It involves comical incidents taking place with them... usually leading to a dramatic end. The movies featured the characters:

Go (Gopal) - Played by Ajay Devgan
L (Lucky) - Played by Tusshar Kapoor
Ma (Madhav) - Played by Arshad Warsi
L (Laxman) - Played by Sharman Joshi in the first film. In second film, a new character of the same name (but different from the original Laxman) was played by Shreyas Talpade. In the third and forth film, Talpade and Kunal Khemu play two different characters, both named Laxman.

Golmaal Junior will have the same format as the movies and will have three central characters: Madhav, Gopal and Lucky. The show will release in May on Sonic channel and will have the plot of two mischievous but poles apart rival prank gangs fighting against each other in a comic way.

Golmaal Jr. won't be Rohit Shetty's first forray into television, with the film director and producers'Singham film series also being adapted into a animated series for kids, titled Little Singham. A source had told the Mumbai Mirror that Rohit has been actively involved with the planning of Golmaal Junior.

Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal franchise now has an animated version. Nickelodeon on Monday released the first look of the characters from its upcoming children’s show Golmaal Junior, based on Shetty’s Hindi comedy film series of the same name. The show features younger, animated versions of the lead characters from the Golmaal universe: Gopal, Lucky, Laxman, Laxman 2 and Madhav.

The series has been produced by Rohit Shetty Picturez in association with Reliance Animation. A release date is yet to be announced.

Nickelodeon said in a press note that the show will “revolve around the two prank gangs of Gopal and Madhav indulging into fun, chaos and drama”.

Four films in Shetty’s franchise have been released so far – Golmaal: Fun Unlimited (2006), Golmaal Returns (2008), Golmaal 3 (2010) and Golmaal Again (2017) – and a fifth is reportedly in the works.

The series follows the adventures of five eccentric friends, Gopal (Ajay Devgn), Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor), Madhav (Arshad Warsi) and two Laxmans (Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Kemmu). Golmaal Again (2017), which also starred Tabu, Prakash Raj, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Parineeti Chopra, was a massive hit.

Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal series is getting an animated show for kids titled 'Golmaal Junior' and will feature the original protagonists, Gopal, two Laxmans, Madhav and Lucky. In the comedy franchise, the roles were played by Ajay Devgn, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Kemmu, Arshad Warsi and Tusshar Kapoor respectively. In the small screen version, which will air on television channel, the story will revolve around the two prank gangs headed by Gopal and Madhav.

It had learnt that like Ajay’s character, his junior alter ego will be the ringleader of his gang, while the kiddie gang has also borrowed attributes from their seniors. “The junior Lucky (originally played by Tusshar) is the silent member but this time, his get-up includes a big belly and a lollipop. The first Laxman of the two (Shreyas) is a lovable character and a confidante to his ‘Gopu’ and sports a nerdy look with a mushroom haircut and round spectacles. The second one (Kunal) has been given a messy avatar, and recites shayaris, just like the senior. The junior Madhav (Arshad) is as wicked as the senior one,” said a source.

Jointly produced by Rohit and Reliance animation, the show will premiere in May. Nickelodeon lleva Rainbow Rangers a América Latina

Luego de que Nickelodeon aprobara la segunda temporada de Rainbow Rangers, serie preescolar animada de Genius Brands International, Nickelodeon Latin America ha licenciado la primera temporada de la producción.

La serie, compuesta de 52 episodios de 11 minutos de duración cada uno, se estrenará en la región en agosto en Nick Jr. y también estará disponible, a partir de junio, en la aplicación móvil para preescolares NOGGIN. El show, dirigido a niños de entre 2 a 5 años, y de 6 a 11 años, se doblará al español y portugués brasileño. Los Rainbow Rangers se centran en siete niñas que son personal de emergencia de la Tierra, protegiendo a las personas, los animales y la vida silvestre.

El show se estrenó en Nick Jr. en Estados Unidos en noviembre de 2018 y se transmite en las tardes de lunes a viernes, además de los domingos por la mañana. La producción cuenta con un destacado equipo creativo, que incluye a Rob Minkoff, director de The Lion King de Disney; Shane Morris, co-guionista de Frozen de Disney; y la escritora súper ventas del New York Times y nominada al Emmy, Elise Allen (Dinosaur Train, Lion Guard y especiales de Barbie), quien se desempeña como escritora principal y co-creadora de la serie. Nickelodeon Renews 'Ryan’s Mystery Playdate' for Season 2

Amid strong ratings and just days after its series premiere, Nickelodeon has ordered a 20-episode second season of Ryan’s Mystery Playdate, starring 7-year-old YouTube star of Ryan ToysReview! The renewal brings the series total to 40 episodes.


The Friday, April 19 series debut was No. 1 in its 12:30 PM time period on all TV with kids 2-11. The premiere averaged a 2.1/518,000 with kids 2-11, up 24% over last year and up 11% from the premiere of The Substitute with K2-11. It delivered 999,000 total viewers, a 23% lift over last year’s levels.

Across the weekend (Friday-Sunday), Ryan’s Mystery Playdate reached 2.1 million Kids 2-11 and 5.5 million total viewers. The premiere saw a 33% lift in ratings in Live+3 with K2-11.

Created and produced by pocket.watch, the new studio creating global franchises from the YouTube stars and characters loved by Generation Alpha, Ryan's Mystery Playdate follows Ryan as he tackles a series of imaginative, physical challenges and solves mystery box puzzles to reveal the identity of his playdate.

In the live-action series, Ryan, his parents and animated friends Gus the Gummy Gator and Combo Panda, work together to complete unique challenges and unlock mystery boxes that contain hints to help him discover who his mystery playdate is. Nickelodeon Brazil Announces 'Dia de Brincar' 2019

Nickelodeon Brazil (Brasil) has announced the exciting news that the number-one entertainment brand for kids will be hosting Dia de Brincar 2019, Nickelodeon Brasil's fourth annual local edition of Nickelodeon's Worldwide Day of Play, on Saturday 25th May 2019 between 10h-17h at Parque Villa-Lobos in São Paulo!


Nickelodeon's pro-social initiative celebrates kids' love of play, highlighting the importance physical activity, and encourages the whole family to take part in creative and imaginative sports and games in a safe environment.

On Saturday 25th May 2019, Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. will host Dia de Brincar 2019 in Parque Villa-Lobos in São Paulo between 10h-17h. The free event aims to promote and increase the bonds between families and friends and create incredible memories. The same day, Nickelodeon will take a break from its regular schedule and instead broadcast a continuous message that will encourage children across the country to leave the house to play outside.


At Dia de Brincar, the idea is to welcome everyone who wants to enjoy a day outdoors to play alongside popular characters from Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. Dia de Brincar will feature a big stage for performances, as well as play dozens of activities and recreational games designed to stimulate physical activity, reasoning, musical skills, citizenship and the interaction between friends, parents and children.

This year's theme encourages children to make their 'Giant Dreams' a reality through the use of imagination, in a gigantic place with the best companies. Nickelodeon's main objective continues to be to welcome children, friends and families with open arms so that they can enjoy a fun-oriented day with the presence of beloved Nickelodeon properties that appeal to all the audience. Last year's Dia de Brincar welcomed 32,000 attendees, who enjoyed activities such as Yoga, Ninja Dance and Rock Band in addition to performances, comedy and inflatable toys. Dia de Brincar 2019 aims to beat last year's record so that this edition is even better and, consequently, a real success.


In addition to the activities that will soon be announced, Dia de Brincar 2019 will feature a meet & greet tent with Nickelodeon and Nick Jr.'s most beloved characters, as well as a children's identification service at the entrance to the event via wristbands.

In order to avoid queues, limited passwords for toys and activities will also be distributed.


The park has a food area will attendees will be able to purchase food and drink.

Limited parking will be available, however, Nickelodeon recommends that attendees use public transportation, taxis and applications to arrive to the event.

Nesta data, o canal infantil interrompe parte da sua programação em todo o país para estimular as crianças a aproveitarem os momentos em família e com amigos. Em um enorme palco vão rolar atividades lúdicas e jogos recreativos que estimulam a atividade física, raciocínio, habilidades musicais, cidadania e a interação entre amigos, pais e filhos. Viva o brincar!

Todas as atividades acontecem na “Ilha Musical” do parque. A Nickelodeon irá distribuir pulseiras de identificação para a segurança das crianças. O Parque conta com foodtrucks, mas é possível levar sua própria comida, uma boa desculpa para fazer um piquenique! Viacom International Media Network Americas Opens New Regional Headquarters for the Southern Cone in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) The Americas has official opened the doors to "Viacom Town", its new corporate headquarters for the Southern Cone region of South America, in Martinez, in Buenos Aires, Argentina!


The state-of-the-art office space will serve as the base of operations for the company's entire portfolio of entertainment brands in the Southern Cone (including the countries of Uruguay, Argentina, and Chile), which includes Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Telefe, MTV, Comedy Central, Paramount Channel and Viacom International Studios (VIS).

Together with the eleven studios of Viacom International Studios, which together cover 12,000 square meters, the new corporate hub adds an additional 13,000 square meters, consolidating a unified space in a privileged location in the north of Buenos Aires.

The new offices feature the most modern technology and are in line with the most modern design standards. The offices have been designed with an "open space" format with collaborative spaces that favour and encourage teamwork, and also has a large coffee lounge / restaurant which can seat up to 200 employees.

The work area can house up to 400 employees at any one time and has 31 meeting rooms, equipped with state-of-the-art video conferencing equipment.


Thus, the space combines warmth with a practical design, with the aim of providing a unique experience for collaborators and visitors, uniting multifunctional spaces to work, create, connect and relax, giving life to Viacom.

"We are immersed in an integration process that involves us knowing each other more, interacting more and continuing to work as a team to be leaders in the region," said Guillermo Campanini, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Viacom Cono Sur.

"This innovative building, complementary to the rest of the company's building structures, is key to continuing this process, while we continue to forge our sense of belonging," Campanini added.

Dario Turovelzky, Senior Vice President (SVP) of Global Contents of VIMN Americas added "We are proud to have managed to unify structures, processes and all our resources. This is a key element to continue the growth process of all our brands Telefe, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV and Paramount Channel as well as our new Viacom International Studios."

The news follows Viacom Américas opening a brand-new headquarters in downtown Miami, Florida in February 2019.

El área de trabajo alcanza a más de 400 empleados y cuenta con 31 Salas de reuniones nutridas de equipamiento para video conferencias de última generación.

Así, el espacio combina la calidez con un diseño práctico, con el objetivo de brindar una experiencia única a los colaboradores y visitantes, uniendo espacios multifuncionales para trabajar, crear, conectar y relajarse, dándole vida a Viacom.

"Estamos inmersos en un proceso de integración que nos implica conocernos más, interactuar más y seguir trabajando en equipo para ser los líderes en la región. Este edificio innovador y complementario al resto de las estructuras edilicias de la compañía es clave para continuar este proceso, mientras seguimos forjando nuestro sentimiento de pertenencia", dijo Guillermo Campanini, COO de Viacom Cono Sur.
