Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid to Feature Rangers Vs. Villains Team Combat Across Multiple Gaming Platforms


SAN FRANCISCO – January 17, 2019 – For over 25 years Power Rangers has been one of the most popular franchises in the world. As a perennial Top 10 NPD Action Brand, the globally renowned brand has spawned hit TV shows, movies, toys, comics, live entertainment and games. Today, nWay, the developer and publisher behind Power Rangers: Legacy Wars, the hit multiplayer mobile game with over 45 million downloads, is partnering with Hasbro and global content leader Lionsgate to announce Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid. The new cross-platform fighting game will be available as a digital download for $19.99 first on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in April 2019, and then as a PC release later in the year.

The game is now available for pre-order at www.battleforthegrid.com. PlayStation 4 pre-orders will start shortly. Those ordering prior to launch will receive an exclusive bonus of the Green Ranger V2 character skin and a digital art book. In addition, a special Digital Collector’s Edition will be available to pre-order for $39.99, which contains the full game download, Season One Pass (which will include three new characters, their Arcade story, and a new warrior skin), and exclusive Lord Drakkon Evo II and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Pink Ranger character skins.

“Power Rangers fans have been asking for a high fidelity fighting game on console and PC that match up iconic Rangers and villains across the expansive Power Rangers multiverse for quite some time now,” said Taehoon Kim, co-founder and CEO of nWay. “We wanted to deliver this to the fans and make sure it has cross-play and cross-progression capabilities as we believe playing with friends across multiple platforms at the same time is where the future of gaming is headed.”



Power Ranger: Battle for the Grid is an easy to learn but hard to master fighting game that delivers a modern take on the Power Rangers franchise. The game features stunning graphics with vivid details and pits new and classic Rangers and villains against each other in team battles. Featuring a streamlined combat system, the game welcomes newcomers to the genre with simplified controls, while maintaining depth and detail for more intense and experienced competitors. Players will be challenged to test their skills online against friends and other players around the world, providing endless replayability. With new content and game modes releasing throughout the year, the game will continuously offer the community new ways to play and compete.

With cross-play across multiple platforms, all players whether on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch or PC, will be in the same player pool and will have the ability to compete against each other in real-time. Even when players change their platform, their mission progress they have worked to achieve will still be available to them, allowing for cross-progression and true seamless gameplay no matter where they play.

Nickelodeon is about to sham-ROCK your world with the new, animated Nickelodeon Original Movie Lucky, premiering Friday, March 8, at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT), just in time for St Patrick’s Day! The movie follows the hilarious adventure story of Hap, the unluckiest leprechaun around, and the search for his family's lost gold!

In Lucky the Leprechaun, unlucky leprechaun Happy McSweeney is in for the adventure of a lifetime when he and his friends set out on a daring mission to retrieve the pot of gold that was stolen by the evil Houlihan from the McSweeney family years ago. Can Happy get his family luck back?

The hour-long film stars the voice talent of Mark Hamill (Star Wars), Kira Kosarin (The Thundermans), Ron Funches (Trolls), Flula Borg (Pitch Perfect 2) and Gunnar Sizemore (Ben 10).

The movie is directed by Casey Leonard (Breadwinners) and written by Bart Coughlin (Alvinnn!!! And the Chipmunks), Bill Motz (Rufus) and Bob Roth (Rufus), with Darren Thomas and David Steinberg, Nickelodeon’s SVP of Animation Production, serving as executive producers. Lucky is produced by Nickelodeon in Burbank.

To celebrate the release, Nickelodeon has partnered with Random House Books for Young Readers to release a tie-in book inspired by the movie. Titled Lucky: The Adventures of the Unluckiest Leprechaun, the hardcover book is written by author Bart Coughlin and features illustrations by illustrator Leticia Lacy. Slides, Slime, SpongeBob And Science: Peek Inside The National Children’s Museum’s New Washington, D.C. Home

The Washington, D.C. region has technically been home to a children’s museum for 45 years, but for the past decade it’s been pretty hard to find.

A brief backstory: In 1974, the Capital Children’s Museum opened in an old brick nunnery near Union Station. Congress rechristened it the National Children’s Museum in 2003. A developer purchased its building a year later and museum operated as a “museum without walls” for the next five years. Then, it reemerged in 2009 in a small preview space in National Harbor. Three years after that, it upgraded to a storefront there, but unfortunately shuttered again in 2015.

At that point, its board promised it would return the institution to Washington, D.C. Still following?

The saga ends, ostensibly, this November. The National Children’s Museum is scheduled to reopen in a 33,000-square foot space in the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center at 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest!

“When we reopen, we will really be a science center and a children’s museum in one,” Crystal Bowyer, the museum’s president and CEO, told WAMU.

She was wearing a white construction hat and looking around at what will eventually be the science and technology-focused museum’s entrance hall. Its pièce de résistance will be the “dream machine,” a 50-foot slide and climbing structure that children can use to enter the museum.

“I knew that we needed something magical at the point of entry,” Bowyer added. She was thrilled when she got the go-ahead last year to knock out a major section of the floor of what used to be a steakhouse to build the two-story contraption.

The original Capital Children’s Museum of the 1970s was known for homey, tactile attractions like taco-making and giant bubble wands.

Not so with the new iteration. Its exhibitions will all be STEAM-focused — science, technology, engineering, arts and math — with an emphasis on combined digital and hands-on learning aimed at children up to the age of 12.

Programming will include everything from an interactive exhibit that allows kids to control the weather through a green screen, to SpongeBob SquarePants and slime-themed areas sponsored by Nickelodeon. According to a renderings, the SpongeBob SquarePants-themed room, pictured above, will be set in Bikini Bottom, the undersea home of SpongeBob, and will feature lots activities inspired by Nickelodeon's hit animated series, and the Nickelodeon Slime area, pictured below, will include a “slime wheel,” “tactile floor,” “overhead inflatables,” "freezer flaps", "pool noodles,""randomized jets of air" and a “randomized splat and ooze projection theater.” The area will also feature a "mirror,""viewing window," and a "every spin is a winner!" game.

In Data Science Alley, kids will learn about data collection, data footprints, and social media. Over in the Engineering, Games and Play section, older children will be able to design cars and manipulate race tracks as part of a design-build challenge, while younger kids amuse themselves in a gymnastics-themed zone.

There will also be quiet areas for children with sensory sensitivities or autism and private rooms that mothers can use to nurse their babies.

They’re also bringing back the Bubble Room. The decision came after surveying Washingtonians about their favorite experiences at the original museum. Unsurprisingly, the opportunity to create a giant bubble around yourself ranked right at the top. The museum is currently raising funds to bring the Bubble Room back to life, and is accepting donations from the public. Bowyer is still in the midst of raising the $15 million needed to open the museum. She said she’s “very close” to the goal but declined to specify exact figures. If needed, she said, the museum could always take out a line of credit to complete construction on schedule.

The money that’s already come in hails from individual donors, corporations, philanthropies, and the D.C. government, which contributed $1 million in grant funding. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is sponsoring 80 field trips for low-income schools, including the price of entry, bus transportation and lunches.

The financial struggles of other private museums in Washington aren’t lost on Bowyer. She said her institution is a stable position because it’s renting space from the federal government rather than constructing a new building, as had once been the plan.

Still, she sees the Newseum as a cautionary tale. Even though it attracted more than 800,000 visitors a year, the Newseum recently announced it would be selling its flagship building on Pennsylvania Avenue.

“It’s unfortunate when you see that happen, but luckily that won’t be a problem here,” Bowyer said.

A tribute to creativity, Wonder Park tells the story of 10-year-old June, a wildly imaginative young girl who builds models of amusements parks with rides like the Skyflinger, Fantastic Fish Carousel, and Zero-G-Land with her mother. When June gets older, she starts to lose her sense of wonder and begins to shun her childhood ideas, including the idea of the park, packing away her models away. Nevertheless, her childhood catches up with her!

One day whilst exploring deep in the woods, in a magical moment, she discovers a roller coaster car buried under ivy. It transports her to a fantastical wonder park, like the ones she used to build, populated by animals who were its past employees. But the park is broken down, abandoned and in a state of decay.

June soon rediscovers the wonder of her world, and teams up with a whole host of talking animals to restore the park to its full glory, complete with spinning contraptions and inverting roller coasters, all whilst contending with a invasion of a army of cheeky chimpanzombies looking to stir up all kinds of destructive mischief.

Appelbaum, Nemec, and Kendra Haaland serve as producers, with Karen Rosenfelt and Don Hahn executive producing. The movie is being produced by Paramount Animation, Nickelodeon Movies and Ilion Animation Studios. A director has yet to be announced for the movie.

Wonder Park is scheduled to roll into theaters on Friday, March 15, 2019. An animated television series based on the film will also debut on Nickelodeon in 2019.

As colaborações com Sebastián Yatra e Greeicy Rendón em A Partir de Hoy e Perdón foram só o início de uma nova fase para David Bisbal, que promete mais parcerias bombásticas para seu novo projeto discográfico.

Em entrevista à The Associated Press, o astro confirmou que já trabalha em seu próximo álbum e que contará com a presença de vários colegas neste trabalho.

“Com essas duas rumbas latinas vai ter uma continuidade, seguramente, de canções para um disco em 2019. Já estamos trabalhando sem parar para conseguir um bom projeto. Seguramente teremos mais colaborações”, contou o artista, que espera o segundo filho. Sua mulher, Rosanna Zanneti está no terceiro mês de gestação. Ele já é pai de Ella, de oito anos.

Seu último álbum foi Hijos Del Mar, lançado em 2016.

La voz del artista llegará a miles de espectadores a nivel panregional con el estreno de la cinta en países hispanohablantes.

David Bisbal presenta esta nueva pieza a días de su exitoso paso por la edición número 60 del Festival de Viña del Mar, donde cerró la jornada del pasado martes. En la conferencia de prensa previa a su espectáculo adelantó la experiencia de interpretar esta canción.

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) – Americas has announced a new management structure for its fast-expanding Viacom International Studios (VIS) which will see Federico Cuervo filling the role of Senior Vice President-head of VIS, reporting to Darío Turovelzky, newly named SVP of global contents at VIMN Americas. Turovelzky remains co-chief of VIMN.


Under the new structure, all functions of content creation from all brands and countries of VIMN Americas within VIS will be unified and led by Cuervo. A ten-year veteran at VIMN, Cuervo and his team will lean heavily on the experience gained in his time as the brand head of Comedy Central and Paramount Channels.

Launched officially last year, Viacom International Studios is the unit of development, production and distribution of contents for VIMN – Americas. The branch encompasses original contents of VIMN Americas for its global brands such as Nickelodeon, MTV and Comedy Central; contents of Telefe, Argentina’s top-rated free-to-air TV channel; and products of Porta dos Fundos, the main comedy content producer in Brazil.

El mundo de los medios audiovisuales está en plena transformación. Mientras la TV pierde encendido, hay quienes creen que peligra su reinado. Aunque para Darío Turovelzky, director de Contenidos Globales Viacom/Telefe, no es tan así. Para él, lo importante hoy es el contendido, más allá de la plataforma por la cual se consuma.

Turovelzky inició su carrera como asistente de producción y pasó por varios de los canales de aire, aunque pisó fuerte en Telefé donde se convirtió en uno de los hombres de confianza de la familia Yankelevich. Hoy es uno de los nombres de peso en la región en la industria de los medios.

En una charla exclusiva con ámbito.com habló sobre el futuro de la industria, la multiplicación de las plataformas para la distribución de contenidos y los planes de Viacom.

Periodista: ¿Cómo fue el 2018 para Viacom?

Darío Turovelzky: Nuestro balance de 2018, de todas sus marcas y contenidos, fue muy bueno. Telefé, más allá de ser líder como canal de TV abierta tiene muchas líneas de negocio entre ellas teatro, cine, música, y en lo que es televisión venimos manteniendo el liderazgo desde hace 7 años. Y hace 6 años que no se da esta diferencia tan grande que obtuvimos en términos de performance. Además Nickelodeon creció un 11%, en MTV hemos crecido un 18% en el target de 18 a 24. Haciendo un balance de todas nuestras marcas ha sido un año, muy, muy exitoso. A su vez, y tiene que ver con hacia dónde estamos apuntando ahora, hemos lanzado el Viacom International Studios (VIS), es una visión de la compañía a nivel global, aunque nosotros dirigimos toda la parte de lo que es América, que tiene el objetivo de desarrollar, producir y distribuir contenido.

P.: ¿De qué se trata?

D.T.: El contenido que se desarrolle lo podemos distribuir no solo para nuestras marcas, sino también para terceros en cualquier parte del mundo. Por ejemplo para Netflix, Amazon, Fox, Turner, canales de aire. Estamos en esa línea y ya hemos cerrado varios proyectos con estas compañías. Esto tiene que ver con buscar una nueva línea de negocio. Es algo que ya originalmente hacíamos ante de que Viacom comprara Telefé. Viacom tenía un peso muy fuerte en la venta de señales de cable y de distribución de contenidos. Vendía las animaciones de Nickelodeon, las comedias de Comedy; a su vez Telefé también tenía su pata de distribución y una usina muy fuerte de producción. Hoy tenemos 11 estudios. Y a la hora de juntar estas dos compañías, se genera una fuerza muy potente. Por ejemplo, en el área de producción tenemos 14 centros, en Miami, México, Colombia, Brasil y Argentina. Podemos producir contenido para cualquier región, para cualquier plataforma, y obviamente para nuestras marcas. Uno de nuestros focos está puesto ahí y en encontrar nuevas líneas de negocio que nos puedan hacer diversificar en esta industria que está en plena transformación.

P.: ¿Qué ventajas tiene la Argentina para la producción de contenidos?

D.T.: Sin dudas que las tiene. En primer lugar por el talento. Desde todo punto de vista. No estoy hablando solo de actores, artistas o conductores. Estoy hablando del talento detrás de todos estos contenidos, en dirección, en la parte autoral, en producción, en la parte técnica. Realmente ahí diría que competimos con grandes mercados. A la hora de desarrollar contenido, en el momento de la creación, es ahí donde se ve. Y no solo en televisión. También en publicidad, en cine. Veo un punto muy fuerte en lo que es la competitividad de la Argentina.

P.: ¿Incluso con las actuales normas laborales?

D.T.: Obviamente con lo que tiene que ver con las normas laborales nosotros debatimos con el Estado, con los gremios, con las asociaciones, en ver cómo todas estas partes trabajamos juntos en un engranaje. Porque a fin de cuentas esto es una industria y tiene que funcionar para todos. Y para que funcione para todos a veces hay que ajustar tuercas de todas las partes para elevar y llevar esto a otro nivel. Porque ya tal vez no podemos seguir con modos de trabajo de años anteriores, que quizás en otro momento funcionaron pero hoy con toda la divergencia digital que hay, y las nuevas formas de consumo te hace cambiar a la hora de planificar, de producir. Hemos trabajado mucho en cómo aggiornar a la industria, porque está en plena transformación. Todo se tiene que transformar. No es sólo la forma de consumo, que ahora vemos más por plataformas. Tenemos que acomodar y aggiornar la forma de trabajar si queremos elevar los contenidos a una calidad superior. Esto en definitiva es un negocio. Y no hablamos de quitar gente; hablamos de reordenar, de rearmar equipos.

P.: ¿La TV como la conocemos murió?

D.T.: No, para nada. Soy un defensor 100% de la televisión abierta. Lo que pasa es que hay que aggionarse. Hay una mirada acotada del hecho de que la televisión está perdiendo encendido; se está "muriendo", dicen. Lo que pasa es que si analizamos la industria de los medios, siempre están los que decían por ejemplo que con los videoclubs se iba a morir el cine. Ahora pasa lo mismo. Hay que entender esta diversidad de plataformas y ver cómo pueden converger juntas; desde la medición por ejemplo. Puede ser que el encendido esté bajando, pero el contenido que estamos generando no tengas ninguna duda de que por todas las plataformas que se ven, sumado a la televisión abierta, se ve igual o más que antes. Lo que hay que cambiar es el chip y la forma de tomar esta medición. No es sólo el rating de Capital y Gran Buenos Aires, son las millones de visualizaciones que tengo en mi página de Internet, millones de descargas que tengo en on demand en tal sitio. En esa instancia es en la que nos tenemos que parar y buscar eso todos los jugadores de esta industria.

P.: ¿O sea que hoy el negocio de la televisión es multiplataforma?

D.T.: Te corrijo. El negocio de los contenidos es multiplataforma. Nosotros nos consideramos una gran productora de contenidos, que además tiene canales de televisión abierta, que además tiene señales de televisión paga, que además tiene plataformas digitales, y que encima los puede vender a cualquier territorio y compañía. Va por ahí. Por suerte tenemos un canal líder como Telefé que nos da una ventaja enorme y que hoy sin duda gran parte de los ingresos de la compañía vienen de la publicidad tradicional en televisión abierta, más allá de que por supuesto hay una parte importante de digital. En algún momento vamos a poder crecer más en otras líneas de negocio para poder solventar algo que pueda llegar a caer. Pero en ningún momento digo que la televisión se va a morir. La televisión se va a aggiornar en base al contenido que generemos para cualquiera de nuestras audiencias. Hay mucho de marketing en eso de que la televisión se muere. Hoy la televisión sigue siendo agenda del día siguiente. Hicimos una investigación en Viacom global, como un experimento social, en el cual en distintas partes del mundo les pedimos a personas, familias, que desenchufen la televisión por 48 horas. Al principio algunos decían que no iba a pasar nada, y vimos gente llorando porque sentían la falta. No diría que es una etapa dorada de la televisión, pero sí es una etapa dorada de los contenidos. Porque cada vez hay más plataformas para consumo. Una plataforma es la televisión abierta.

P.: ¿Entonces Netflix no es una amenaza?

D.F.: Afortunadamente vino un Netflix para que la competencia sea por el contenido de calidad.

P.: Ante un mundo donde todo cambia tan rápido ¿cómo imaginás la industria en el futuro?

D.T.: Es muy difícil de responder eso. Porque los cambios no son sólo en la industria de los medios. Es en la tecnología. Porque ahora el impacto en el crecimiento es exponencial. Antes era algo más directo. Desde hace unos 5 años los cambios son muy vertiginosos y muy radicales. Pensemos que no hace muchos años que Netflix está en la región. Y ahora escuchás que empresas como Disney va a tener su propia plataforma de streaming y encima se fusiona con otra compañía como Fox, o AT&T con Warner. Hay que ver qué va a pasar. Estamos todos en esta industria tratando de generar nuevas líneas de negocio, innovación, pero nadie tiene la bola de cristal, si no ya estaría ahí. En este crecimiento exponencial de las tecnologías y de las formas de consumo cambia todo. Hasta hace poco nadie imaginaba estar en su casa viendo maratones interminables de series. Por eso hay que aggionarse, porque si te quedás atrás sos Kodak. Nosotros trabajamos permanentemente en business inteligence, analizando datos, las audiencias, quiénes nos ven, cómo nos ven. Esa información dura, sumada a la sensibilidad de nuestro equipo, nos ayuda mucho a tomar decisiones y llevar la industria a otro nivel.

P.: ¿Está produciendo ingreso de divisas?

D.T.: Sí, estamos exportando contenidos. Hoy ser el dueño del contenido, de la producción intelectual, para nosotros es fundamental. Eso te permite distribuirlo a cualquier plataforma, a cualquier territorio, a cualquier cliente. Es ahí donde podemos explotar y pensar más a largo plazo. Una cosa es vender una lata cerrada como se emitió en cualquier país, y se vende y se dobla. Otra es el formato. Es decir: un contenido generado por nuestro equipo, producido y vendido a otro país, y con asesores que quizás tienen que modificarlo para en cada territorio ponerle su idiosincrasia. Por otro lado tenemos las coproducciones que hoy para nosotros son un gran punto a partir de alianzas estratégicas.

P.: ¿Hay margen para incrementar la cantidad y calidad de la producción?

D.T.: Absolutamente. En este momento, en toda la región, estamos trabajando 58 proyectos. Y no estoy contando los que son del día a día. Hablo de los que están en etapa de producción o preproducción. Hay capacidad. Y cuanto más producción tengamos, más alimentamos el brazo de la distribución y más ingresos generamos para la compañía.

P.: ¿Qué otros planes tienen?

D.T.: En términos de inversión es a nivel global. Nosotros manejamos una región que es desde Miami para abajo. Y Viacom es uno de los cinco conglomerados de medios más grande del mundo, y siempre está en búsqueda de nuevas adquisiciones. Telefé es un canal líder en Argentina, y tenemos Colors que es el número 1 en India, Chanel 5 que es el número 3 de Reino Unido. Recientemente Viacom adquirió una compañía que se llama Pluto TV, que es una OTT gratuita, donde hay cientos de canales inmersos en una plataforma digital. Y es ahí donde ya estamos trabajando en cómo explorar y ver estos nuevos negocios emergentes y ver hacia dónde nos llevan todo lo que venimos planificando en la innovación, en lo digital. Nosotros tenemos todos los contenidos digitales y plataformas que estamos trabajando desde las aplicaciones propias de cada una de nuestras marcas. Es permanentemente encontrar nuevas líneas de negocio en todo lo que es consumer products, o sea todo lo que tiene que ver con licencias. Imagínate el ecosistema, teniendo el contenido todo lo que permite hacer. Generar tus propias licencias, tus propios eventos y experiencias. Porque también nos interesa generar experiencias, valor agregado y conexión con nuestra audiencia, porque te comprometes en un vínculo emocional con la audiencia. Y tiene que ver ese generar experiencias con todo lo que te puede dar el contenido en todos sus negocios auxiliares.

Viacom Names Mikko Silvennoinen as it's New Commercial Director for VIMN Nordics

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN), the international division of US firm Viacom, has appointed media and television specialist Mikko Silvennoinen as the new Commercial Director of Viacom International Media Networks Nordics. In his newly appointed role, Silvennoinen will be responsible for the revenue streams of Viacom in the Nordic countries, including advertising sales, content and channel distribution solutions, and identifying new business opportunities for Viacom and portfolio of world class brands, such as Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., MTV, Paramount, Comedy Central and VH1.

Silvennoinen is a media expert and was one of the founders of the legendary music programme Jyrki. He is also known as a producer of YouTubers’ event Tubecon, Finland’s commentator at Eurovision Song Contest, and as a producer of several domestic television programs. During his career, Silvennoinen has worked for MTG Group, as Fox Finland's Program Director, and as Sanoma Media Finland's Children's Media Content and Marketing Director. In recent years, Silvennoinen has worked as a consultant through his own company, oversaw the launch of Viafree, a standalone Finnish AVOD, and worked on content marketing projects for media agency Dagmar (Starcom).

"Viacom is at the forefront of exploring new ways to share content. The company's portfolio includes the world's strongest brands, reaching out to a wide audience, ranging from children to adults. Jumping excitedly and looking forward to creating new partnership models, various online and offline activities, and distribution solutions for Viacom's content," Silvennoinen said in a statement.

In his role as the commercial director for Viacom in the Nordic countries, Silvennoinen will act as the head of the sales team, currently staffed by six people. He will report to Jesper Dahl, General Manager (GM) for Viacom in the Nordics.

"We are very happy to have Miko on the Viacom team. He has extensive experience in various types of media, diverse target groups and new platforms where brands and consumers meet. We believe that Mikko joining will be a great support for both Viacom and our partnerships and further strengthens our brand and product range in the Nordic countries,” says Dahl.

Silvennoinen started work in his new role on Monday 4th March 2019. He will work in both Finland and Sweden.

Nickelodeon Benelux have announced the Dutch and Flemish nominees for the biggest kids festival and SLIME spectacle of the year, the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 2019!


This year, Nickelodeon Netherlands (Nederland) and Nickelodeon Belgium's (België) localised edition of Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 2019 will feature five localised categories in which Dutch and Flemish viewers will be able to vote for their local favourites from the world of entertainment! A full list of Nickelodeon Benelux's local 2019 Kids' Choice Awards can be found below.

Nickelodeon’s Race naar de Kids’ Choice Awards!


To celebrate KCA 2019, viewers can tune into Nickelodeon every Sunday at 18:30 uur from Sunday 24th February 2019 to see Nickelodeon presenters Nienke van Dijk (De Grote Verkeerstest, TubeTube) and Wout Verstappen (Droomkamers, Ghost Rockers) put this years nominees through their paces! During each episode, fans will get to see their favourite stars compete against each other in a series of challenging games that will test their nerves. The winner of each episode will receive the ultimate Nickelodeon honour: a Nickelodeon sliming!

Dit jaar zijn er 5 categorieën waarin Nederlandse en Vlaamse sterren kans maken op een award. Voor Favoriete Ster Nederland zijn de kanshebbers Kraantje Pappie, Djamila, Kalvijn, Britt Scholte, Nina Schotpoort en Royalistiq.

MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 27, 2019 -- Nickelodeon and VStar Entertainment Group, part of Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, today announced the U.S. debut of the live theatrical production Nick Jr. Live! "Move to the Music." The brand-new musical spectacular will feature, for the first time ever on one stage, characters from multiple hit Nickelodeon preschool animated series, including Bubble Guppies, PAW Patrol (produced by Spin Master Entertainment), Dora the Explorer, Shimmer and Shine, Blue's Clues & You! (premiering in November 2019), Blaze and the Monster Machines and Top Wing. Exclusive ticket pre-sale opportunities will be available to fan club subscribers beginning Wednesday, March 6, and tickets are available to the general public beginning Friday, March 15. Nick Jr. Live! "Move to the Music" marks the first of several productions to debut as part of an exclusive live theatrical touring partnership between Nickelodeon and VStar Entertainment Group. The partnership includes collaboration on several Nickelodeon intellectual properties to deliver new theatrical touring productions over the course of the exclusive 5-year deal. The relationship between the family entertainment brands kicked off in 2016 with the co-production of PAW Patrol Live! "Race to the Rescue," the first-ever live stage show based on Nickelodeon's top-rated preschool series, PAW Patrol (produced by Spin Master Entertainment). VStar CEO Eric Grilly said that the deal started to come to fruition about a year ago and that the deal was signed last fall. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Sharon Cohen, executive vice president of the Nickelodeon Experience, said the producing partnership between the two companies for specific projects has morphed into a strategic partnership “because it felt like it was time to solidify the partnership and have in place the blueprint to launch more shows.”

Her division, which aggregates all of Nickelodeon’s intellectual property, was created two years ago and has a 30-member staff. Other Nickelodeon shows include “Double Dare Live” and the SpongeBob SquarePants musical.

Creating “Move to the Music” “was a very collaborative process,” Grilly said. “We looked at how their IP was performing on social media platforms, linear platforms, consumer-product platforms, B2B platforms, and we assessed the cultural relevance and made decisions based on those and other factors.”

Cohen expects the target audience for “Move to the Music” to be preschoolers and their parents. She also expects the road going forward will be a “true collaboration between the two companies. VStar is a fabulous partner and we recognize VStar’s knowledge in creating live theatricals.”

Grilly expects the tour to have cast of 10-12, which is in line with the existing PAW Patrol shows and will need three trucks. Music will be a combination of original music and music from the various Nickelodeon series that the characters populate. The music will be tracked.

The strength of Nickelodeon’s global business is the primary reason VStar was keen on upping the partnership; Nickelodeon’s rich, deep archive of content was another; and the success of their working relationship led VStar to want to strengthen it as well.

VStar was acquired by Cirque du Soleil in 2018. Non-Nickelodeon tours include Cirque Dreams and Discover the Dinosaurs: Time Trek. Previous VStar (formerly VEE Corp.) was the home of the Sesame Street Live and Barney franchises.

“VStar being bought by Cirque makes them that much more of a compelling partner for us,” Cohen said. “They’ve added additional capabilities.”

Cohen anticipates “many more productions over the five years of the umbrella deal.”

Tour dates and the venues that “Move to the Music” will play are still being determined.

Top Marketers On How To Drive Brand Purpose

According to Viacom Velocity’s Culture of Proximity 2.0 study, young audiences want brands to fill a void that traditional institutions have left by participating in social and pop culture conversations.

The findings echo Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at BET Networks Jeanine Liburd’s statement at last October’s Top 100 Women in Marketing event at Viacom, where she said, “In the space of brands who are going to win, it’s about courage. To create environments that don’t have ‘isms in them, you have to take an incredible risk and be O.K. with taking a revenue dip.”

This new environment, where brands cannot afford anymore to sit on the sidelines of potentially controversial issues, was also discussed by entertainment icon LL Cool J and top marketers at the 2018 ANA Masters of Marketing in Orlando, Florida.



“I’m so proud of this,” Viacom/Nickelodeon President of Global Consumer Products Pam Kaufman told LL when sharing two of her company’s most notable initiatives during the last year. She explained MTV’s +1 the Vote campaign, which helped register an additional 800 voters leading to the midterm election, and the National Student Walkout to promote gun safety, when Viacom's channels went dark for 17 minutes “to promote gun safety and to make sure that we recognize what the students have to say.”

Articulating brand purpose, Amanda Brinkman, chief brand and communications officer at Deluxe Corporation, said, “Every company, big or small, needs to identify what their brand purpose is; what would the world be missing if they weren't in business,” she said. Brinkman added that, while the right and unique “brand action” isn’t always commenting on political issues, it should be something that advocates for consumers in a way that makes a difference to them. “If you have a platform or leverage to make a difference when it comes to policy, influence or advocacy, that's your responsibility to help do that.”

Eastern Bank is another company that, as its Chief Marketing & Communications Officer Peter Alexander says, “leans out on a number of issues,” including transgender and immigration rights. He admitted there'd been some “blowback” as they take a stand on these issues, but assured LL that they’ve also brought in new customers who aligned with said values.

Meanwhile, Procter & Gamble Chief Brand Officer Marc Pritchard said that nowadays “people expect more from [brands].” “People are looking for brands, what's your point of view? They want to know who is behind that camera, and the more they know there are human beings, that amazing,” he told LL, as long as said point of view “has to do with the brand.”

Aetna’s Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Lisa Bacus addressed the opioid crisis. She told LL that her company committed to reducing opioid consumption among its customers by 25% over three years. Bacus added that, in the long run, the campaign would help everyone by preventing unnecessary medication and allowing individuals and the company to save money in the long run.

Eric Reynolds, executive vice president at The Clorox Company, said that when he started his career, he was told to “sit down, shut up, work, do well and advance.” “[Nowadays] young people have a voice,” he told LL. “And if the company doesn't stand for their values they will walk. We want to be the kind of company where people feel like their opinion matters.”

Chief Marketing Officer at Deloitte Digital Alicia Hatch also addressed the issue. “We believe in looking forward; everyone has a place. It's a collective effort,” she told LL. “[At Deloitte] we’ve created space for this. It’s something that we did, that was on brand and allowed us to drive that conversation in a way that was authentic to us.”

Last but not least, Chief Marketing Officer for Marchon Eyewear Thomas Burkhardt offered a refreshing perspective. “If a company stands for, say, LGBT rights, how that could be controversial? It says humans are valuable. Those companies show more respect to their employees as well as their customers,” he concluded.

Power Of The Pack: Women Who Support Women Are More Successful

I always say a woman alone has power; collectively we have impact. Traditionally we have been taught to be competitive with one another, because there was such a scarcity of jobs at the top. It’s so clear that strategy doesn’t work. The truth is that raising each other up and channeling the power of collaboration is truly how we’ll change the equation—and have a lot more fun along the way.

There is a boys’ club where women never felt comfortable, so we decided to create a Girls’ Lounge more than six years ago where everyone feels like they belong. We discovered two things:

1 - There is power in the pack.
2 - You realize your strengths make the table better.

Today we’ve connected more than 17,500 corporate women and female entrepreneurs, and evolved the name to The FQ Lounge, where women are still the majority, but men feel welcome and comfortable.

We need to reverse the stereotype that women don’t support other women. There is research that shows women in particular benefit from collaboration over competition. Study after study shows women who support women are more successful in business.

New research in the Harvard Business Review finds that while both men and women benefit from having a network of well-connected peers across different groups, women who also have an inner circle of close female contacts are more likely to land executive positions with greater authority and higher pay, while there was no link found for the success of men in terms of the gender composition of their inner circles.

The reason? Women trying to rise up into leadership face cultural and systemic hurdles that make it harder for them to advance, such as unconscious bias. The study suggests that a way to overcome some of these hurdles is to form close connections with other women, who can share experiences from women who have been there, done that—from how to ask for what you’re worth to bringing your unique talents to leadership.

“There’s a new girls’ club that we didn’t have before, because the workplace was largely male dominated,” says Jocelyn Greenky, an office culture and politics expert and CEO of Sider Road. “Now that so many more women are entering the workplace, we’re finding our voice. We’re also building circles of trust with one another because we may be experiencing similar hurdles, and have each other’s backs.”

Laura McGee, CEO of Diversio, which uses artificial intelligence to help companies overcome diversity challenges, agrees. “Across all our companies in multiple sectors and countries, we see access to networks as one of the key barriers preventing women from advancing. We know that women are under-sponsored by senior men, and may need to compensate by developing strong professional relationships with other women. My hypothesis on the research findings is that these women are effectively acting as mentors and sponsors for one another.”

Here is advice from women leaders on how to find and cultivate a close network of female professionals.

Take the word “work” out of networking. There is power in relationships that extends beyond a generic introduction. When you create connections based on shared interests and goals, you’ll be more successful at your job, because people want to work with people they know and like. The Girls’ Lounge first started because I didn’t want to go to a male-dominated conference alone, and so I invited some girlfriends to come along and asked them to invite their friends.

“The Girls’ Lounge has impacted me both personally and professionally. Most industries are so siloed, but the lounge breaks down these barriers and lets you connect with women you would never even imagine,” says Gail Tifford, Chief Brand Officer of WW, formerly Weight Watchers. “And that’s when magic can happen.”

“My advice to women is to reframe what “networking” is,” says Tifford. “The fact alone that the word has “work” in it creates pressure for women to feel like it’s something they have to do, and then I see women stress about how to do it. Simply putting yourself in environments that give you the opportunity to meet with peers and get to know each other and share experiences can be a game changer. And chances are, if you make meaningful connections, they are ones that will last a lifetime.”

Prioritize relationship building. You don’t do business with a company, you do business with people you like and trust. I have always prioritized time with my girlfriends. “To make these connections, you first have to decide if it is important to you,” says Erica Keswin, author of Bring Your Human to Work and founder of the Spaghetti Project. “Does your calendar reflect your values? A lot of time it doesn’t, not because we’re bad people, but because we have so much on our plates. Ask yourself, ‘Are relationships important and why?’ It could be because you want a new job, or to move up in your career. We’re not connecting when left to our own devices, so schedule time for it.”

Know that connection building isn’t one and done. Networking is one and done: It’s where you shake someone’s hand and give them a business card. Where does that leave you? With a stack of business cards on your desk. A relationship, on the other hand, touches your heart and creates an everlasting partnership. To keep connections alive, they must be nurtured.

“Seek out people who you admire. Ask for advice, and follow up. Participate wherever and however you can. In short, be a doer!” says Linda Yaccarino Chairman, Advertising and Partnerships at NBCUniversal.

Amplify other women. I love the Shine Theory, which is the idea that when you help another woman rise, we all shine. “Build other women up! If you see your co-worker doing a great job, give them credit…tell your boss or other co-workers,” says Rebecca Wiser, cofounder and director of communications at Womaze, an app centered around self-empowerment for women. “At first it may seem like you’re taking attention away from yourself, but you’re actually showing that you’re a supportive team player as well as an inspiring leader—and secure enough in yourself to praise others.”

Find your squad—and tap into them. Who would be your go-to group of girls if you had an emergency, needed honest advice, or wanted a key business introduction? When it comes to building relationships, you often get what you give.

Pam Kaufman, President of Viacom/Nickelodeon Global Consumer Products, shares this advice that she once received: “Richelle Parham, the former CMO for eBay who sits on the board for Best Buy, once asked me, ‘Who is on your team?’ She didn’t mean people I managed, but who I had in my professional life that served as my support network. Taking Richelle’s advice, I began building my squad - people I could bounce ideas off of, go to for advice, pick me up when I needed a boost. Today, my squad is so important for my career and my mental well-being. Not only do we support each other, but we act as connectors to people and opportunities. Whenever one of us comes across a great opportunity, we immediately send it to each other. It is amazing to be part of a group of women who want you to be your very best and actively help you to succeed.”

We’re better together. As Madeleine Albright said, “There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women." As we say from personal experience, “There is a special place in heaven for women who support other women.”

Nickelodeon is about to sham-ROCK your world with the new, animated Nickelodeon Original Movie Lucky, premiering on Friday 29th March 2019 at 6:00pm on Nicktoons UK & Ireland! The movie follows the hilarious adventure story of Hap, the unluckiest leprechaun around, and the search for his family's lost gold! Following its debut, the hour-long film will encore Saturday 30th March 2019 at 11:30am on Nicktoons UK & Eire.


Lucky tells the story of Hap McSweeney (Gunnar Sizemore, Ben 10), a leprechaun cursed with horrible luck after a dragon stole his family’s pot of gold many years ago. While on a field trip to the mansion of the luckiest and most mysterious man in Fortune City, Houlihan (Mark Hamill, Star Wars), Hap and his three best friends Shannon (Kira Kosarin, The Thundermans), a hotheaded elf; Sammy (Ron Funches, Trolls), a gentle giant; and Reggie (Flula Borg, Pitch Perfect 2), a wild gremlin, stumble upon a particularly familiar pot of gold and must form a plan to pull off the ultimate heist to steal back the McSweeney gold and restore the family’s luck.


The movie is directed by Casey Leonard (Breadwinners) and written by Bart Coughlin (Alvinnn!!! And the Chipmunks), Bill Motz (Rufus) and Bob Roth (Rufus), with Darren Thomas and David Steinberg, Nickelodeon’s SVP of Animation Production, serving as executive producers. Lucky is produced by Nickelodeon in Burbank.

Music mogul DJ Khaled is set to host Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2019, the biggest, slimiest party of the year for kids, premiering Monday 25th March 2019 at 5:30pm on Nickelodeon UK & Ireland!

Following its debut, Nick UK & Eire will encore KCA 2019 on Saturday 30th March 2019 at 2:30pm and on Sunday 31st March 2019 at 8:00pm.

This year, DJ Khaled will bring his music, signature catch phrases and larger-than-life personality to the Kids’ Choice Awards stage. Kids across the globe will have a front-row seat to the next big things in kid culture from the hottest upcoming movies, music, gaming and rising talent, while continuing to celebrate their favourites from the past year. Kids everywhere will be able to experience the show across all Nickelodeon screens and platforms, as Nick brings the slime and surprises they love.

Double Dare host Liza Koshy officially announced the host and nominees of Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2019 via a first-time Kids’ Choice Awards nomination livestream event across Nickelodeon’s YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter handles and channels on Tuesday, February 26, 2019.

From the set of Double Dare, Koshy ran through some of her favourite obstacles revealing categories, such as Favourite TV Host, Favoirite Movie, Favourite Cartoon and Favourite Butt-Kicker, and their nominees. She started on the Sundae Slide, then completed The Tank, One Nation Underwear, Pick It, Pop Lockin’ and Liza Puffs, culminating with the big reveal of this year’s Kids’ Choice Awards master of ceremonies, DJ Khaled.

Kids’ Choice Awards 2019 will take place on Saturday, March 23, at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California, and will broadcast live on Nickelodeon USA and YTV Canada. Within hours of the live show, KCA 2019 will roll-out on Nickelodeon channels internationally, providing kids around the world in more than 170 countries and territories the opportunity to tune into their local Nickelodeon channel to enjoy Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2019 and experience stunts, surprises and slime at every turn.

Leading the pack with the most nominations are: Avengers: Infinity War, with 10 nominations; Black Panther, with five nominations; and Cardi B and Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, with four nominations each. First-time nominees include: Jason Momoa, Emilia Clarke, James Corden, Noah Centineo, Bebe Rexha, Tyra Banks and Riverdale. This year also introduces five new categories for voting: Favourite TV Host, Favourite TV Judges, Favourite Superhero and Favourite Gamer. And, for the first time, kids will get to decide how they want to help the world in a new category called How Do You Want to Help?

Rocko's Modern Life is about to get a lot more terrifying as tech-obsessed 'zombies' overrun his home of O-Town in April 3's Rocko's Modern Afterlife #1. But when Rocko himself unplugs, he'll be the only one left to set things right.

BOOM! Studios has revealed a first look at ROCKO’S MODERN AFTERLIFE #1, available in stores on April 3, 2019! In this exciting first issue in the limited comic book series from writer Anthony Burch (Borderlands 2) and artist Mattia Di Meo (Adventure Time/Regular Show), everyone’s favorite wallaby of the west, Rocko, is trying to survive the zombie outbreak that’s taken over his home of O-Town!

Welcome to the future of O-town where everyone’s cell phone is glued to their hands, Heffer makes a living streaming video games online, and the latest app lets you avoid all contact with everyone else without even looking up from your gadget! But even in the midst of this techno-utopia, there’s something not quite right with Rocko’s fellow citizens as the authorities call for a city-wide lockdown. While Rocko takes the two weeks as a time to chill and unplug from technology, the rest of the town seems to be going mad. When danger comes knocking at his door, the newly zen wallaby will have to choose whether to stay barricaded within his increasingly surrounded home or venture forth into a wasteland filled with mindless versions of his friends and neighbors.
