BURBANK, Calif.,–December 6, 2018–Nickelodeon’s all-new buddy comedy series, Cousins For Life, will premiere on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at 8:30 p.m. (ET/PT). The live-action series follows 12-year-old cousins and best friends Stuart (Dallas Dupree Young) and Ivy (Scarlet Spencer) as they learn to navigate life under one roof with their families in Portland, despite being from very different backgrounds. Although the cousins don’t always see eye-to-eye, they learn that they are better together, and when they team up they are unstoppable. Cousins For Life will air weekly on Saturdays at 8:30 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.

In the premiere episode, Ivy and Stuart’s life is disrupted after their dads, Clark (Ishmel Sahid) and Lewis (Ron G.), have a disagreement and Clark ends up moving into their hangout space in the garage. It’s now their missions to resolve their dads’ argument and reclaim their space. The episode also stars Micah Abbey as Ivy’s brother Leaf, who’s always having a good time when he’s with his pet pig, Arthur.

Nickelodeon USA has announced the very exciting news that, following the super sneak-peek of Cousins For Life on Saturday, November 24, Nick USA will fully premiere the network's brand-new live-action comedy series on Saturday, January 5, 2019!

Update (12/2): To celebrate the upcoming premiere of Cousins For Life, Nickelodeon has digitally premiered two additional full episodes of the network's brand-new comedy, which fans can watch on nick.com, along with the sneak-peek Nick USA aired on Saturday, November 24!

In episode two, "Space Invader", Ivy and Stuart's life is disrupted after their dads have a disagreement & Clark ends up moving into their hangout space in the garage. It's now their missions to resolve their dads' argument and reclaim their space.

In episode seven, "Eyes on the Prize", to help Leaf's hockey team Ivy and Stuart hold a raffle to raise money for new equipment, but when Stuart overpromises on securing a huge grand prize the cousins must scramble to figure out a solution before a raffle winner is drawn!


Cousins For Life centers on 12-year-old cousins Stuart (Dallas Young) and Ivy (Scarlet Spencer), best friends who come from very different backgrounds, who have to learn to navigate life under one roof with their families.

After Stuart’s mom is deployed overseas, his fun-loving dad Clark (Ishmel Sahid) decides to move the family to Portland to live with his uptight brother Lewis (Ron G.) and his family, which includes Stuart’s confident, socially active cousin Ivy and her younger, overly-curious brother Leaf (Micah Abbey). Now living in a brand new city, Stuart embarks on a variety of endeavors with Ivy that lead to hilarious adventures.


Although the cousins do not always see eye-to-eye, Ivy and Stuart learn they are better together, and when they team up, they are unstoppable. The series will also feature Emma Shannon (Black-ish) as Millie.

In the series premiere, "Movin’ In" (#101), when cousins Ivy and Stuart find themselves living under the same roof they learn that they are better together, and when they team up, they are unstoppable!

Cousins For Life is filmed at The Burbank Studios in Burbank, California - the same studio facility where Henry Danger is filmed, as where many iconic TV shows have been filmed, including Saved by the Bell and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air - earlier this summer.



Greenlit for an initial 20 episodes, Cousins For Life comes from veteran creators and executive producers Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert (Austin & Ally, All That).

‘Cousins For Life’ offers messages of individualism, family love and total chaos

ickelodeon is bringing a new cast of cousins to the table with the new series Cousins for Life. Actors Scarlet Spencer (Ivy), Ron G. (Lewis), Ishmel Sahid (Clark), Dallas Young (Stuart) and Micah Abbey (Leaf) bring an unorthodox and interesting dynamic to the greater Nickelodeon family with crazy schemes and the tales of the love and bond shared by family.

Viewers can expect the message “love your family no matter what happens with them,” Young said.

“Just love them because one day you might need them and that’s what happened to us. We need each other every single day even though we have rough times,” he said.

The cast is able to relate to the story; from messages surrounding the importance of appreciating one’s family to the unique bonds each character shares and has to overcome. While the show’s actors are different themselves, much like their characters are to each other, they admit that their differences are what make them a great team.

While Abbey spends his time on the basketball court and Spencer spends her moments off-camera practicing her singing voice, Sahid spends his time… not singing. The “Cousins for Life” cast, each incredibly unique, is able to bond like cousins and siblings, exhibiting exactly what the show is all about.

“Even if you are different from some of your other family members, that’s what makes it great,” Spencer said. “If all of us were the same, I don’t think we would be as strong of a cast as we are.”

SpongeBob SquarePants Creator Stephen Hillenburg's Ashes Scattered at Sea

The remains of Stephen Hillenburg, creator of Nickelodeon’s beloved animated series SpongeBob SquarePants, have been scattered at sea, TMZ reports.


According to a copy of his death certificate obtained by TMZ, Hillenburg’s ashes were scattered off the coast of California after cremation. The document also confirmed that his official cause of death was cardiopulmonary failure due to ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease), which he announced he had been diagnosed with last March.

ALS is a disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. It progressively kills the neurons that control muscles, eventually leading to paralysis. The fight for a cure came into the spotlight in 2014 with the ice bucket challenge, which raised more than $100 million. Scientists are still racing to find a cure.

Hillenburg died Nov. 26, aged 57.

“We are sad to share the news of the passing of Stephen Hillenburg, the creator of SpongeBob SquarePants,” Nickelodeon tweeted a day after the visionary creator’s death. “Today, we are observing a moment of silence to honor his life and work.”

Hillenburg was a onetime marine biology teacher who held a degree in natural resource planning and interpretation, with an emphasis on marine resources, from Humboldt State University.

He began his career in animation in 1987. Before creating SpongeBob SquarePants, he wrote and directed for the Nickelodeon series Rocko’s Modern Life and Rugrats between 1993 to 1996.



Eventually, Hillenburg combined his love of the ocean with his artistic talent and brought SpongeBob's beloved Bikini Bottom to life.

Hillenburg conceived, wrote, produced and directed the animated series that premiered on Nickelodeon in 1999, which has since bloomed into hundreds of episodes, movies and a Tony-awarding Broadway show. When Hillenburg announced that he had ALS, he said that he would continue to work on the animated series, “for a long as I am able.”

SpongeBob SquarePants has also gone on to win many awards, including both U.S. and British Emmy and ASACP awards. The series has also been dubbed or sub-titled in more than 60 languages.

“Steve imbued SpongeBob SquarePants with a unique sense of humor and innocence that has brought joy to generations of kids and families everywhere,” Nickelodeon said in a statement following his death. “His utterly original characters and the world of Bikini Bottom will long stand as a reminder of the value of optimism, friendship and the limitless power of imagination.”


Hillenburg is survived by his wife of 20 years Karen Hillenburg, son Clay, mother Nancy Hillenburg (nee Dufour) and brother Brian Kelly Hillenburg, his wife Isabel, and nieces Emma and Hazel.

Polish streetwear brand PLNY LALA in cooperation with Nickelodeon Poland (Polska) to launch a colourful brand-new limited edition clothing collection inspired by Nickelodeon's hit animated series, SpongeBob SquarePants!


The line launched today, Thursday 6th December 2018, as part of Nickelodeon International's SpongeBob Gold campaign, and is exclusively available to purchase in the pop-up shop in PLNY LALA store at Mokotowska 26 in Warszawa, Poland, and online at www.plnylala.pl.

The collection features sweatshirts, t-shirts with prints, sweatpants and underwear (including socks and pants), as well as bags and belts, all featuring colours seen in the iconic TV series, including shades of gold, yellow and pink, and characters from the beloved show, in a range of sizes (XXS - L). Items in the range are priced between 39.00 - 599.00 PLN (roughly $10.36 - $159 USD).

To celebrate the launch of the SpongeBob SquarePants streetwear collection, PLNY LALA hosted a sponge-tastic launch party at their new boutique on Mokotowska street on Thursday 6th December 2018, which was attended by a galaxy of stars, including: Lara Gessler, Anna Dec, Justyna Nagłowska, Natalia Klimas, Marta Kuligowska and Monika Miller!

'Mutt & Stuff', 'Dog With A Blog' Star Kuma Von Clifford Passes Away

Kuma, a dog who played “Stan” on early episodes of Disney Channel’s Dog With A Blog, and later appeared in Nick Jr.’s Mutt & Stuff, has sadly died, Deadline is reporting. He was 16 years old (just shy of 17) and suffered from complications from a recent stroke.


The original star of Dog With A Blog, Kuma was chosen out of thousands of furry Hollywood hopefuls to play the starring role of Stan, a dog who talked (via the voice of Stephen Full) and maintained a blog that covered the antics of his human family.

Set in Pasadena, the 2012-2015 run of the show centered around the children trying to keep Stan’s secret from their parents, fearing he would be taken away if discovered. However, on-set conflicts between Kuma’s owner, Sarah Clifford, and another animal trainer caused her to pull him from the show. A look-alike was subbed in for Kuma by the show’s producers to complete the show’s run.

Kuma went on to work in 74 episodes of Nick Jr’s show Mutt & Stuff, playing the role of “Grandma.” The Sid and Marty Krofft show, starring Calvin Millan and his father, Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan, was set in a school for dogs and focused on their training lessons. It ran from 2015 to 2017.


Clifford said Kuma has received fan mail on the performances, and spent his non-showbiz time as a shelter dog ambassador, charity event guest, and frequent traveler. He knew 75 trained behaviors.

Born on December 15, 2001 in Los Angeles as Kuma Von Clifford, Kuma - a mutt, with a mix of different breeds including Australian Shepherd, Husky, and Golden Retriever - was rescued from a shelter in South Los Angeles by Clifford. His show business career started in 2005 with the TV movie McBride: The Chameleon Murder, and he went on to do eight more appearances in the series, all uncredited. But he also appeared in several shorts and the feature-length films An American Crime (2007) and Wrong (2012). He also did a flea and tick commercial, and was the first runner up in 2004's America's Top Dog TV special. Kuma's full resume can be found on IMDb.

“I was both Kuma’s trainer and his owner,” said Clifford in an email. “Losing Kuma is the hardest thing I have ever gone through. He was my best friend and the smartest dog I have ever known in my 40 years of life. When the time came to say my final goodbye, I fed him his favorite foods, chicken and watermelon, which he ate with vigor until the very end.”

Clifford is asking fans who wish to memorialize Kuma to donate to their favorite animal rescue shelter in his name.

Sarah Clifford wasn’t the only person mourning the loss of Kuma. When fans of the pup’s work heard about his passing, they took to social media to share their sadness.








Kuma made a huge impact a lot of people, and will be missed by many.

Nickelodeon will seek consumer products and promotional partners, spanning categories including layette, toy, accessories, home, publishing and more. JoJo is one example of an aisle that was completely under-represented–the teen/tween aisle,” said Pam Kaufman, CMO and president, global consumer products, Nickelodeon. “With the rise of the Latino population, we felt like we were under-serving the Latino audience, and so we look at this as an area where Nickelodeon Consumer Products can really make a difference.”

The Canticos brand– first launched in 2015 with dual-language English-Spanish books, apps and sing-along videos–is comfortable territory for Nickelodeon, which blazed new trails when it introduced the world to a 7-year-old bilingual girl named Dora back in 2001.


It’s been more than 15 years though since “Dora the Explorer” hit the airwaves, and according to Encantos founders Steven Wolfe Pereira and Nuria Santamaria Wolfe, who are of Dominican and Salvadorian descent (respectively) and are now based in San Francisco, there is a huge demand for authentic, enriching, Spanish-language content in the U.S.

Over one-third of the U.S. population is multi-cultural, with Hispanics making up close to 18 percent of the total population, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s latest numbers.

The key to Canticos’ already significant success is its authenticity. Husband and wife duo Wolfe Pereira and Santamaria Wolfe, have an expansive background working for some of the biggest names in media from Univision to Twitter. But it wasn’t until the impending arrival of their first child that they decided to turn their talents to creating content that would bring their culture to life for their own child, and the millions of other children of Latino heritage across the U.S.

“We are living in a multi-cultural nation. By 2040 over a third of the U.S. population will be Hispanic, but you don’t have to wait until 2040, because today over 50 percent of Millennials are multi-cultural, with the largest percentage of the demographic being Hispanic,” said Wolfe Pereira. “When we found out that we were having our first child, it really hit us personally. I realized there was no way for us to share our culture with our son. Understanding the meaning of culture and what role that plays as you badge yourself as a family, you want to pass on these traditions.”

And so it was that, alongside the partners’ new baby, a new brand was also born. Targeting kids ages 0 to 24 months old, Canticos (which means “little songs” in Spanish) centers on Spanish-language nursery rhymes from all over the world, celebrating Latino culture by bringing songs such as “Los Pollitos,” “Elefantitos” and “Mi Burrito Sabanero” to life.

“I think the opportunity for parents and families to share their culture and share their language starts from the moment that a baby is born. It’s that moment when you first put your child to bed, or try to, and you want to sing to them. When I began to sing to my son, it wasn’t ‘Twinkle Twinkle’ it was ‘Los Pollitos,’ the songs that I had grown up with,” said Santamaria Wolfe. “And when I looked for books and apps and tools to help me pass on that culture and that language, there really wasn’t anything. We’ve heard this a lot from educators and librarians too. What they’re really lacking is tools to teach, especially those younger demographics.”

Without any active marketing to-date, the brand has racked up 103,000 subscribers on YouTube with its most popular video boasting 19 million views. The brand also includes four book titles published in-house by Encantos and distributed by PGW/Ingram–also available in digital form–as well as an app.

And the brand isn’t aimed just at Latino families. With engaging artwork and its focus on music, Canticos is well-placed to serve American parents of all stripes who increasingly want to expose their children to other languages and cultures from an early age.

Nickelodeon’s job now will be to “amplify” the brand, as Kaufman put it. The company will work with Encantos to develop the first collection of consumer products and promotional partners for the Canticos, spanning categories including layette, toy, accessories, home, publishing and more.

“This is a new model for us. Historically our content has been created by the Nickelodeon team, then it’s launched as a show, then you wait for the show to work and then you have consumer products,” Kaufman explains. “We’ve now created an IP for CP strategy. We are actually making shows to be successful in consumer products. If you think about ‘Turtles,’ we bought ‘Turtles’ to be in the action figure aisle. Even though this content is not made by Nickelodeon, it has the DNA of Nickelodeon.”

The audience demographic is also new for Nickelodeon, and Kaufman readily admits that this digital brand geared toward infants might not ever end up on television, making it a surprising move for a company that has its roots in network television.

“For kids under 2, you’re really not looking to expose them to TV. You have to really think about how you are introducing things at this really fragile, tender age,” says Wolfe Pereira. “You are so thoughtful about anything that is going to come into contact with your baby.”

But while traditional TV may not be in the cards, content certainly is. In fact, Canticos short-form content is slated to launch in spring 2018 on Nick’s preschool-facing digital platforms including NickJr.com, the “Nick Jr.” app and Noggin, Nick’s video subscription service. The content will be produced by Venezuelan-American artist Susie Jaramillo, who created the brand and is also a founder of Encantos, alongside Santamaria Wolfe and Wolfe Pereira. This new slate of digital content will focus on developing the characters that appear in the nursery rhymes featured in Canticos through animated webisodes.

“For example, ‘Los Pollitos’ is a beautiful nursery rhyme about these three newborn chickies with their mother hen taking care of them. It’s a beautiful nursery rhyme, and now we’re actually going to bring the characters to life. Then, those characters can be used to tell other stories, and that’s where we’ll leverage the power of Nickelodeon,” explains Wolfe Pereira.

Kaufman and her team already hard work at creating style guides for the brand’s CP line, and she says that the reception she’s received thus far from licensees and retailers has been overwhelmingly positive.

When this media company found the big partners it needed to fulfill its mission at scale, it had to be strategic with its resources to meet their demands.

In this America’s Small-Business Heroes edition of The Fix, Entrepreneur Associate Editor Lydia Belanger shares her conversations with founders and executives who have solved problems while keeping social impact in mind.

Nuria Santamaría Wolfe says she grew up feeling like she was living in two worlds. Born in El Salvador, she moved to Los Angeles with her family at age 3. Her childhood home life was filled with Latino culture, and Spanish is her first language, but living in the U.S. immersed her in the American mainstream. She learned how to transition between the two worlds, she says, and proudly grew up with a bicultural identity.

Even before graduating high school, Santamaría Wolfe knew that she wanted to pursue a career addressing the ways in which Hispanic people were underserved and underrepresented. She decided to study economics in college at Stanford and minored in Spanish, despite her fluency, to ready herself to use the language in a business context.

Eventually, she worked her way up to Twitter, where she headed up multicultural strategy for the social platform, identifying the market opportunities associated with long underrepresented and growing demographics.

“I got to the point where I realized, sometimes brands understand the opportunity and don’t act on it,” Santamaría Wolfe says, “or want to act on it but don’t know how to act on it.”

Then, in 2015, she became a mother and saw a massive opportunity for more Latino culture in children’s media. She co-founded Encantos Media Studios with the goal of creating products to the bridge gaps between cultures. The first brand under the Encantos umbrella is Canticos, which publishes Latino nursery rhymes in books, sing-along videos and interactive app formats.

“We weren’t going to wait for Disney or another media company to do this,” Santamaría Wolfe, who also serves as Encantos CEO, says. “We were passionate about doing this not just because it was a business opportunity, but almost because of social good. We felt we had to do it -- for the culture, for the people.”

Santamaría Wolfe and her team have several goals for their self-funded media startup. They founded it as a public-benefit corporation and prioritize giving -- through in-kind donations, partnerships with charitable organizations, events, educational materials for kids and parenting resources.

They also want their products to appeal to more than just Latino families. The long-term plan is to create content for a range of cultures. For instance, Canticos stories, Santamaría Wolfe explains, are meant to make Latinos feel proud to see their culture represented, and give non-Latino parents an opportunity to expose their kids to diverse and bilingual content.

But the mass appeal the company had worked to cultivate would be much more powerful as a mass-market scale. Not to mention, financial growth would allow the public-benefit corporation to better fulfill its social mission. As partnership opportunities have arisen with big players such as Target, Nickelodeon and Burt’s Bees, Encantos has worked to deliver new products quickly by leveraging existing smaller partnerships and in-house talent, when possible.

“When we think about going from a small, family-owned startup to scaling and playing with the big guys,” Santamaría Wolfe says, “it’s about finding that balance of capitalizing on short-term opportunities while not sacrificing the long-term vision that we have.”

Here’s how Encantos has stayed lean despite the demands of new distributors.

The fix

Target and Encantos began talks due to the retailer’s hunger for more bilingual children’s books. When Encantos first met with Target, it had four book titles out in market at the time. The problem was, they were not mass-market friendly and featured details such as a slip-cover and accordion-like expansion that made them more suited for boutique book stores. Encantos anticipated Target would want a smaller, pared-down version -- the existing one wouldn’t fit on its shelves -- and brought a mock of a simpler version to the meeting. The companies worked together to retain the authenticity of the stories and the interactivity of the products that Encantos has prioritized from the day it was founded.

The challenge, however, was that Target wanted the new version of the books in a matter of three months, while Encantos had slated production for them a year out. Despite the magnitude of this deal, Encantos used its existing resources to handle it. The company called up its printer, a fellow startup, and explained the situation. The printer fast-tracked the process, and Encantos made Target’s deadline.

This fall, Encantos has entered into another large partnership, with Nickelodeon. It had already been creating animated content for its own YouTube channel, which has more than 117,000 subscribers -- its singalong videos contain animated versions of the artwork in Canticos nursery rhyme books. Again, the company faced an aggressive timeline: The new content is slated to debut in spring 2018.

“We had to work on short-form, digital content that needed to live on Nickelodeon’s platform,” Santamaría Wolfe says. “We had to up the ante of the quality and quantity. And we were not set up to do that.”

In this case, Encantos made the decision to call upon new help for aspects such as storyboarding and post-production, hiring an animation studio.
“It’s about understanding where your limitations are going to be,” Santamaría Wolfe says of the decision, “and when it’s time to bring in an additional partner.”

That said, Encantos relies heavily on its diversely talented in-house team. For example, the company’s art director for Canticos books also designs the website and will soon work on additional consumer products Encantos and Nickelodeon has in the works, such as children’s bedding. Encantos’ CTO has a music background and consults on lyrics and translations, but the company’s production work happens externally.
“You have to be self-aware, as an organization,” Santamaría Wolfe says. “It’s great to wear all hats and be a jack-of-all-trades, but you have to know when it’s not going to be enough and fill those gaps in talent.”

She also notes that, when possible, companies seeking rapid growth should also look for jacks of all trades when hiring external talent as well, rather than seeking several one-off freelancers to build relationships with.

The results

Canticos books appeared on shelves of 400 Target stores in October 2017 after the three-month turnaround earlier this year.
“We remained working with a partner that we respected and appreciated,” Santamaría Wolfe says of Encantos’ relationship with its printer, which has helped release six titles, four of which come in two book formats. “Small companies work well with small companies.”
Encantos sells its books across the U.S. as well as in Europe, Asia and Latin America. It recently added Costco Puerto Rico as a distributor.

The company will grow its digital reach from to 2.6 million when it hits Nickelodeon’s platforms this spring. The studio that will have made this possible is based in Canada, and Santamaría Wolfe explains that this was a strategic move: Canada offers tax credits for animation work, which is saving Encantos money -- money that it can allocate to public-benefit efforts.

“I think we’ve been really smart about the way in which we’ve used our resources, financial and people wise,” Santamaría Wolfe says. “We try to move fast, but very thoughtfully, in the way that we do things, and it’s given us opportunities to start to give back very early on.”

Another take

When trying to decide whether to complete a project internally or with external help, companies should ask themselves what the costs of each option are, says Amy Blitz, a lecturer at Babson College who has led organizational research at IBM, McKinsey and other institutions throughout her career.

“A company might decide it wants to do something in-house if it decides that type of project is core enough to its strategy going forward that it needs to develop those kinds of capabilities,” Blitz says.

She cites Apple’s move into retail in the early 2000s as an example. The tech giant determined it would be beneficial to operate its own stores, rather than leave the sales of its products to third parties such as Best Buy. Similarly, Netflix and Amazon have been producing their own TV content, as well as streaming licensed works.

Companies should have insights into whether their direct competitors are building vs. buying certain aspects of their business, but know the same strategy may be right applicable for any number of reasons. A company that takes on a new project in-house may have to dial down efforts in another area. Because of this, Blitz says, it’s important that a company knows where it wants to focus -- and plan ahead.

Other costs may involve managing the group that is completing the project, whether it's longstanding employees or a freelancer or agency. Although outsourcing allows more flexibility for companies that don’t need certain capabilities on a constant or regular basis, the tradeoff is building rapport and trust. Terms of a partnership such as each party’s ownership and responsibilities inevitably come into play.

Blitz shares an anecdote of a pair of partners that built a technology solution to keep sensitive information such as intellectual property private. Other organizations may agree upon regular check-ins or surveys to make sure each is holding up its end of the deal, happy with the arrangement and seeking ways to improve it. Another idea is to have internal and external teams report to the same person to “force the two groups to see each other as collaborators, rather than competitors,” Blitz explains

Partnerships of any size have a bearing on a company’s branding and its employees’, customers’ and suppliers’ perceptions of its values, and opening the wrong door can cause others to close.

“Companies should ask, ‘Who are we? What do we do? How do we do it -- at a profit?’” Blitz says. “And, ‘what don’t we do?’”

But getting from idea to viable business and really gaining traction in this environment takes a concept that resonates and is relevant, tapping into an insight and unmet cultural need.

Encantos seemingly has done just that in creating a multicultural learning and entertainment platform for kids. Launched in 2015 by cofounders Susie Jaramillo and Carlos Hoyos and Nuria Santamaria Wolfe and Steven Wolfe Pereira, who is also CMO of Quantcast, both wife-and-husband teams, Encantos is a company that creates bilingual educational content and products for children, targeted to Millennial moms—those who are “overwhelmingly diverse and digitally connected,” Jaramillo said. Its first brand, introduced in 2016, is Canticos, a collection of books, apps and singalong videos for infants and toddlers featuring cute and spunky animal characters. In 2017, a partnership with Nickelodeon brought Canticos to Nick Jr.’s digital platforms and initiated development of a Canticos collection of products.

Today, as the next step in its journey, the company announced that it has closed its pre-seed round of funding from investors including Cross Culture Ventures, a firm that invests in entrepreneurs creating technology and products for a diverse global marketplace.

The Encantos origin story is a personal one: Santamaria Wolfe and Wolfe Pereira had their first child Sebastián in 2015 and moved from New York to San Francisco; they soon recognized a culture gap as a Latino family—there really was nothing that existed for kids and families to share their culture in an authentic way. Similarly, Jaramillo and Hoyos recognized the same gap as they were raising two bilingual kids in Brooklyn. Together they sought to create family brands for a multicultural world.

Given their collective 40 years of agency experience, the founders have not yet sought involvement from outside agencies, creative and otherwise. Jaramillo was the cofounder and chief creative officer of The Vox Collective, a multicultural agency, in the early 2000s. Santamaria Wolfe served as head of multicultural strategy at Twitter and Wolfe Pereira had previously worked as a marketing VP at Univision and later an executive VP and managing director at Starcom Mediavest Group where he ran the Walmart media business, as well the industry’s largest multicultural media agency.

Their backgrounds, they believe, provide unique direct benefit to the company, experience and expertise they are bringing to bear on its growth strategy.

I caught up with Jaramillo via email to learn more about the Encantos journey, where we can expect to see the brands and products moving forward, and the lessons for other startup and multicultural brands in an era of consumer empowerment, diversity and inclusion priorities, and digital and social platforms. Our interview, edited for length and clarity, follows.

Jenny Rooney: Is the company’s growth tracking to expectations?

Susie Jaramillo: The company's growth so far has been surpassing expectations. We launched our first brand Canticos in 2016 and by 2017 had a fledgling publishing business. In November 2017, we entered into a partnership with Nickelodeon to license Canticos as well as develop the first collection of consumer products and promotional partners for the brand, spanning categories including layette, toy, accessories, home, publishing and more. In May 2018, Canticos Season 1 went live on Nick Jr.’s platforms and we will launch our first consumer products in 2019. We are now well ahead of our audience and revenue projections for Canticos and we have a focused development pipeline for new direct-to-consumer family brands.

Rooney: Why do you think a company such as this resonates, and why now?

Jaramillo: There is a huge gap in the world of entertainment, education and lifestyle consumer product brands when it comes to authentically connecting with multicultural consumers. People of color are craving for stories that represent them and their culture in positive ways so that they can celebrate who they are with their children. They are hungry for stories, products and brands were Black, Hispanic, Asian, Indian—you name the community—are not the afterthought or bit player but the lead and focal point. Furthermore, we are a public benefit corporation. We are purpose-driven, like other PBCs ranging from Kickstarter to Plum Organics to Patagonia. We believe that consumers, especially families, want brands in their lives that have meaning. Purpose is at the heart of Encantos, and each brand that we create will give back to a social cause supporting our customers and communities.

Rooney: What hole were you seeking to fill?

Jaramillo: It’s 2018. Our country and the world is diverse. However, our content, brands and products are not. We see all of the trending hashtags from #OscarsSoWhite to #BlackLivesMatter to #SomosMas. Today the U.S. is 18% Hispanic, 13% African-American and over 5% Asian—that’s a third of the country! And by 2040, over half of the U.S. will be multicultural, with Hispanics being over 30%. However, the future is now with today’s largest population cohort, Millennials, being over 50% multicultural. On average, one out of every three babies being born in diverse (and in states like California and Texas, one out of every two!). So the multicultural market is the new general market.

And yet, we see a huge gap in family brands for multicultural audiences. So we intend to fill this hole. We will use the best of technology, the best of brand building in a digital age and the best authentic and culturally relevant storytelling to build direct-to-consumer brands.

Rooney: How did you choose your board of directors and why?

Jaramillo: As a purpose-led company we wanted to ensure that we had people that understood and believed in our mission. Furthermore, we looked at the different skill sets we would need as we grow from brand building to consumer products, from publishing to technology.

The focus of the advisory board is to give us strategic council and to help us scale the business for the long term. We feel truly lucky to have an incredible group of executives supporting Encantos.

Rooney: Why does being a DTC matter so much right now? What’s different or changed?

Jaramillo: Now more than ever, brands need to know their customer and for the first time, we really can know every part of the customer experience. We have the ability to go directly, engage, and optimize every step of the customer journey like never before. Most brands have indirect relationships with their customers. Similar to brands like Away, Dollar Shave Club, and Warby Parker, we believe that we are disrupting the way family entertainment and education brands are built. By leveraging our experience, insights and all of today's technologies, we are truly able to be mobile first, data driven and obsessed with super-serving niche audiences at scale.

Rooney: What has been your media and marketing strategy for promoting the brand and business such that it got traction early?

Jaramillo: All of us, having worked in media and marketing, are familiar with what works; we know the power of paid with compelling owned and earned media, the most important thing being to get earned and owned media rights. Given our backgrounds, we know the potency of insights and first-party data. We went straight to the customer with what we knew they wanted.

Rooney: How are/will you build out your C-suite?

Jaramillo: We're being very measured in how we bring people aboard as we're building for the long term. It's day one, and we are building a purpose-driven company led by dream team of A talent where culture matters. We're being very thoughtful about how we grow, taking in culture fit and business needs. We'll bring on the right folks at the right time.

Rooney: What lessons have you learned regarding what it takes to build a new brand, particularly a kids/family brand, in today’s environment?

Jaramillo: Now more than ever before, brands need to directly build, engage and superserve their customers. They need to know who their customers are, not merely rent audiences from someone else.

We want to meticulously map out every stage of a customer’s journey (and all key stakeholders) from the beginning and ensure we continue to add value and utility to their lives.

Rooney: Lessons learned in building a multicultural brand?

Jaramillo: Multicultural done right is mainstream. Indeed, diversity is a business imperative—for it is the growth driver for every single industry from automotive to CPG to retail to telecom. Retailers In particular know that growth is being driven by diverse consumers. They are hungry to get behind the right brands that will bring in this audience. The multicultural space is still a mostly misunderstood and relatively uncluttered space. We've found that because of this, we've been able to move quickly and establish a strong presence.

Rooney: What, if any, pushback have you encountered?

Jaramillo: Honestly, we don't really bother with folks that don't get it. The opportunity is too great. We deal with leaders in the space (like Nickelodeon) who skate where the puck is going.

Rooney: What has been the biggest challenge of this journey thus far?

Jaramillo: Keeping up with demand and not growing too fast for “growth’s sake.” In addition, as a B-Corp, we want to ensure that we have the right people around us, from advisors to partners to investors.

Rooney: Biggest surprise?

Jaramillo: We knew that our first brand Canticos would serve as a unifying force with first-, second- and third-generation Latinos from all different countries of origin—and this has exceeded our expectations. However, we’ve also been surprised by how Canticos has been embraced by non-Latinos. Moms know that learning a second language like Spanish at a young age makes kids smarter. Non-Latino families, educators and librarians have all praised Canticos and they want more bilingual tools to give their kids. In particular, we've been pleasantly surprised by the way mainstream preschool educators have received Canticos and our products. In fact, the Teachers College of the University of Vermont is currently doing a study on our books, music and resources and the positive effects they have on babies and toddlers.

Rooney: Where do you hope to see the brand go and grow from here? What kinds of products can we expect to see?

Jaramillo: Look for Canticos consumer products spanning categories including layette, toy, accessories, home, publishing and more in 2019.

Rooney: Advice to companies large and small and entrepreneurs seeking to build brands and businesses in today’s climate?

Jaramillo: There is a world of opportunity, but there is power in focus. Start with the end in mind and obsess on how you are solving a real customer need. Make sure that there truly is a value exchange between you and that customer.

Q: Nickelodeon saw mainstream appeal in your Hispanic-inspired brand. What advice do you have for other multicultural brand developers?

Jaramillo: People will find your culture appealing. When it comes to products, sometimes people get narrowed-minded, thinking, if I leverage culture I won't appeal to my general market. My mantra is, "Yes you will, if you do it well." If you leverage culture elegantly, you will create a product with global appeal.

Q: What were the biggest hurdles in launching your company and how did you overcome them?

Jaramillo: The hardest thing to do is finding partners you can trust, taking a risk and not being afraid of failure. Seek out partners that see your audience as a business imperative. And when I say partners, I mean distribution partners, clients, and who you go into business with. Seek out like-minded professionals who are really passionate about the same ideas you are and don't be afraid to trust them.

Q: Canticos was first released on its own YouTube channel and individual apps. How do you harness digital technology and social media to reach your target audience?

Santamaria Wolfe: I understood the power of tech and digital to really enable a small brand to gain customer attention just as a bring brand would. One is having a presence. Moms are on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Two, is making sure you are connecting with the customer on an emotional level. Create little moments so that they know that you are a brand for them. We are brand by moms for moms.

All Eyes on the New Wonder Park Poster

When the park of her dreams needs saving, only June’s imagination can bring it back to life.

A tribute to creativity, Wonder Park tells the story of 10-year-old June, a wildly imaginative young girl who builds models of amusements parks with her mother. When June gets older, she starts to lose her sense of wonder and begins to shun her childhood ideas, including the idea of the park, packing away her models away. Nevertheless, her childhood catches up with her!


One day whilst exploring deep in the woods, in a magical moment, she discovers a roller coaster car buried under ivy. It transports her to a fantastical wonder park, like the ones she used to build, populated by animals who were its past employees. But the park is broken down, abandoned and in a state of decay.

June soon rediscovers the wonder of her world, and teams up with a whole host of talking animals to restore the park to its full glory, complete with spinning contraptions and inverting roller coasters, all whilst contending with a invasion of a army of cheeky chimpanzombies looking to stir up all kinds of destructive mischief.

The US version of the movie includes Matthew Broderick (Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Rules Don’t Apply, The Producers) as Dad, Jennifer Garner (Nine Lives, The Tribes of Palos Verdes) as Mom, Kenan Thompson (All That, Kenan & Kel, Good Burger, SNL) as Gus, Ken Jeong (Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, Bob’s Burgers) as Cooper, Mila Kunis (Family Guy, A Bad Moms Christmas) as Greta, John Oliver (The Daily Show, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, live-action Lion King) as Steve, Ken Hudson Campbell, who voiced Boomer the Bear, Sofia Mali as Young June, Brianna Denski (Momsters: When Moms Go Bad) as June, Oev Michael Urbas as Banky, Norbert Leo Butz (Bloodline) as Peanut, Kate McGregor-Stewart as Aunt Albertine, Kevin Chamberlin as Uncle Tony, Kath Soucie (Rugrats, Hey Arnold!) as Bus Counselor Shannon, and Noen Perez as Chatty Kid.

The UK audio track of the movie features mostly the same voice talent, with a few changes: Iconic British voice talent Tom Baker (Doctor Who, Little Britain, Monarch on the Glen) will voice Boomer the Bear and YouTube sensations Joe Sugg and Caspar Lee will voice beavers Gus and Cooper!

The PG-rated film is written by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows) from a story by Applebaum (Origin), Nemec (Knightfall), and Robert Gordon (Galaxy Quest). Appelbaum, Nemec, and Kendra Haaland serve as producers, with Karen Rosenfelt and Don Hahn executive producing. The movie is being produced by Paramount Animation, Nickelodeon Movies and Ilion Animation Studios. A director has yet to be announced for the movie.

Wonder Park is set for release in theatres and RealD 3D in the US on March 15th and in 2D and 3D cinemas in the UK on April 8th.

WISCONSIN DELLS, WI — Imagine being a kid and getting $3,000 to shop for toys. That is exactly what a girl in Wisconsin Dells got to do, thanks to Nickelodeon's Toy Run: Family Style sweepstakes!


Lauren Kaiser, 11, and her dad went on the shopping spree of a lifetime at Wisconsin Dells Walmart after she was named one of three grand prize winners of the Nickelodeon Toy Run.

They had 3 minutes to pick out as many to pick out as many toys as they could up to $3,000 during the Nickelodeon Toy Run, a revival of the network's beloved 90s Toy Run!

In the three minutes, Kaiser packed five carts full of toys - but they’re not all for her. Kaiser will be sharing the toys with her six-year-old brother, Cameron.

“I don’t really have that much time, it’s only 3 minutes so I’m just going to grab what I can,” Kaiser told WKOW. “If I see things that I want, I’m just gonna grab it and just grab everything and put it in the cart and make sure it doesn’t fall out.”

She was among the 150,000 entries for Nickelodeon Toy Run: Family Style

Keegan’s Toy Run: Family Style shopping spree will available to watch by mid-December on Nickelodeon and Walmart's social media pages.

As part of their celebrations, Nickelodeon will launch the 26-episode 12th season of the networks number-one animated series, furthering the nautical adventures of SpongeBob and his Bikini Bottom friends, in 2019!

Cousins For Life

Cousins For Life is a brand-new live-action comedy series that centers on 12-year-old cousins Stuart (Dallas Young) and Ivy (Scarlet Spencer), best friends who come from very different backgrounds, who have to learn to navigate life under one roof with their families.

After Stuart’s mom is deployed overseas, his fun-loving dad Clark (Ishmel Sahid) decides to move the family to Portland to live with his uptight brother Lewis (Ron G.) and his family, which includes Stuart’s confident, socially active cousin Ivy and her younger, overly-curious brother Leaf (Micah Abbey). Now living in a brand new city, Stuart embarks on a variety of endeavors with Ivy that lead to hilarious adventures.

Although the cousins do not always see eye-to-eye, Ivy and Stuart learn they are better together, and when they team up, they are unstoppable. The series will also feature Emma Shannon (Black-ish) as Millie.

In the series premiere, "Movin’ In" (#101), when cousins Ivy and Stuart find themselves living under the same roof they learn that they are better together, and when they team up, they are unstoppable!

Cousins For Life is filmed at The Burbank Studios in Burbank, California - the same studio facility where Henry Danger is filmed, as where many iconic TV shows have been filmed, including Saved by the Bell and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air - earlier this summer.

Greenlit for an initial 20 episodes, Cousins For Life comes from veteran creators and executive producers Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert (Austin & Ally, All That).

Los Casagrandes (working title)

Los Casagrandes (working title), a spinoff of animated hit The Loud House, will follow Lincoln Loud's friend Ronnie Anne and her extended family, the Casagrandes, living together in the big city and exploring the endless possibilities urban life has to offer.

Greenlit for an initial 20 episodes, Los Casagrandes features Ronnie Anne and her brother Bobby Santiago as they adjust to their new life in Great Lakes City, where they now live with their big, loving and chaotic multi-generational family, the Casagrandes. In the series, Ronnie Anne makes new friends, build stronger bonds with her relatives and explores the endless possibilities of city life. Bobby helps Grandpa Hector run the family's corner store, and becomes familiar with the neighborhood's quirky characters.

The Casagrande family was first introduced in the The Loud House special, "The Loudest Mission: Relative Chaos," which was recently nominated for an Imagen Award. The family will continue to appear throughout The Loud House season three, currently airing on Nickelodeon, and will be featured in a five-episode arc in season four.

The Loud House is co-executive produced by Mike Rubiner (KaBlam!), who will also serve as co-executive producer on Los Casagrandes alongside producer Karen Malach. Award-winning cartoonist Lalo Alcaraz (Coco) will serve as a cultural consultant and consulting producer for the five-episode arc of The Loud House featuring the Casagrandes.

Pony

Pony is a brand new original 2D-animated buddy comedy that follows the life of an average girl, Annie, her (almost) average family and what happens when an excitable, unpredictable, loveable and talking pony comes to live with them in their city apartment. Pony is the first animated comedy series to be greenlit for the U.S. from Nickelodeon International. Created by Ant Blades, Pony is based off a short of the same name from Nickelodeon’s 2015 International Animated Shorts Program.

Greenlit for an initial 20 episodes, Pony follows Annie’s everyday life as a 9-year-old, from working at her parent’s city farm, located on their apartment balcony, homework, school friends and, most importantly, her friendship with Pony. Pony is Annie’s biggest cheerleader and best friend, although sometimes his optimism and enthusiasm lands the pair in unusual situations.

Glitch Techs

Expected: 2019


Glitch Techs is a animated adventure-comedy series that follows two newly recruited kids as they battle video game monsters that come to life in the real world. The brand-new series comes from Eric Robles (Fanboy & Chum Chum) and Dan Milano (Greg the Bunny, Warren the Ape), both hailing from Nickelodeon's Artist Collective, an internal artist-led development program. The series has been picked-up for 20-episodes and is being produced at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, Calif.

Glitch Techs will boast a multi-ethnic cast, including a Muslim-American female character who will wear a hijab.

Emmy-award winning actor Bryton James (Winx Club, The Young and the Restless) will be voicing a character on Glitch Techs.

Skoogle

Expected: TBA


Skoogle is a brand-new kids sketch comedy show created by and starring Nickelodeon alum Kenan Thompson (All That, Kenan & Kel, Good Burger), and being produced by Pocket.watch and Viacom.

Skoogle will feature Thompson as the voice of the titular Skoogle, an Siri/Alexa-like digital assistant for kids who has been created to help with their daily problems. Along with his cast of kid entrepreneur inventors, Skoogle will satirize everything from service apps to streaming entertainment to social media. The series marks the first major series production for pocket.watch.

Power Rangers Beast Morphers

Expected: February 2019


Set in the future, a secret agency combines a newly discovered substance called “Morph-X” with animal DNA to create the Power Rangers Beast Morphers team. The Rangers must fight off an evil sentient computer virus named Evox which is bent on taking over the source of all Ranger power, the Morphin Grid itself. Only one fighting force can come together and stop Evox once and for all: the three new Beast Morpher Power Rangers and their Beast Bot sidekicks! Featuring never-before-seen leather suits and an all-new beast-themed arsenal (including dynamic new Zords), fans should get ready for a season full of secret ops and morphinominal fun!

Power Rangers Beast Morphers will star Rorrie Travis as Devon / Red Ranger, Jacqueline Scislowski as Zoey / Yellow Ranger, Jasmeet Baduwalia as Ravi / Blue Ranger, Abraham Rodriguez as Nate, Colby Strong as Blaze, Cosme Flores as Ben, Kristina Ho as Betty, Liana Ramirez as Roxy.

For the first time ever, each of the Power Rangers will have their own sidekick in Power Rangers Beast Morphers! The Beast Bots are the lovable sidekicks that will aid the Rangers in the quest to defeat Earth’s evildoers.

- The Red Ranger’s Beast Bot will be a Cheetah named Cruise.
- The Blue Ranger’s Beast Bot will be a Gorilla named Smash.
- The Yellow Ranger’s Beast Bot will be a Jackrabbit named Jax.

Power Rangers Beast Morphers will use footage from the 2012 Super Sentai series Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters (the 36th season overall).

Drop That Seat (Short-Form YouTube Series)

Hosted by Knight Squad star Daniella Perkins and Kida the Great, winner of So You Think You Can Dance season 13, Drop That Seat (formally titled Musical Dares) is an exciting, new game show for Nickelodeon from Executive Producer Nick Cannon and the creators of Lip Sync Battle Shorties! Drop That Seat is a crazy spin on the game musical chairs, played by teams of real kids, involving high-energy music and dance-related challenges! It's the hyper real version of the coolest house party EVER!

Drop That Seat (10 episodes) was filmed in Los Angeles, California during Summer 2018, and is the first project by Viacom Digital Studios (VDS) produced for Nickelodeon’s YouTube channel.

Blue's Clues & You

Nickelodeon's iconic preschool series Blue’s Clues is back for whole new generation of preschoolers, and she's bringing along her new friend!

In Blue’s Clues & You (20 episodes), beloved puppy Blue invites viewers to join her and live action host, Broadway star Joshua Dela Cruz on a clue led adventure and solve a daily puzzle. With each signature paw print, Blue identifies clues in her animated world that propel the story and inspires viewers to interact with the action. Dela Cruz will have a new generation of preschoolers searching for clues with the beloved energetic girl puppy Blue.

Original Blue’s Clues host Steve Burns helped guide the audition process during the search for the new host. Said Burns, “I had the great honor of being a part of the search for the new host, and I give Josh two thumbs up! He can definitely fill my shoes, and the rugby shirt.”

Joshua Dela Cruz is making his television series regular debut as the new host of Blue’s Clues & You. Dela Cruz recently appeared in Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway as the understudy for Aladdin and a member of the ensemble. Other notable theatre credits include David Byrne’s Here Lies Love and Encores!: Merrily We Roll Along. He has also appeared in CBS’ Bull and ABC’s Time After Time.

The original Blue’s Clues series launched in September 1996 to critical praise from educators, parents, and preschoolers and ran for six groundbreaking seasons. Created by Traci Paige Johnson, Todd Kessler, and Angela C. Santomero, Blue’s Clues drew acclaim and high ratings for its unique interactivity that helped change the way kids watch television and has remained one of the most popular preschool shows of all time. The landmark series also raised the bar in preschool television by exploring advanced subject matter such as sign language, geography, physics, emotions, and anatomy.

The classic Blue’s Clues library is currently available on NOGGIN, Nickelodeon’s video subscription service for preschoolers, and short-form content can be found on the Nick Jr. App and NickJr.com.

Abby Hatcher, Fuzzly Catcher

Abby Hatcher was an ordinary girl until she discovered some extraordinary cartoon creatures who get into a fuzzload of trouble! The series is also slated to debut on TVO in Canada in early 2019, and global distribution will follow during 2019.

Spin Master will launch the toys and other merchandise inspired by the show, including incredible plush from GUND, the oldest soft toy brand in the United States, in 2020 to allow the property to become established with its audience and to build anticipation for the toy.

The Swashbuckling Adventures of Capitán Calavera

The Swashbuckling Adventures of Capitán Calavera (working title, 20 episodes) is a brand-new animated action-adventure series that follows 8-year-old Robi Montes, a brave and kind-hearted pirate, as he embarks on daring rescues, searches for treasures and keeps the high seas safe from villains like the nefarious pirate Bonnie Bones in a fantastical Caribbean world. The interactive series is created by Niki Lopez (Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, Fairly OddParents, Harvey Beaks), Leslie Valdes and Valerie Walsh Valdes (Dora the Explorer), and infused with a Spanish-language and culture curriculum.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Netflix will produce a reimagined live-action series based on the award-winning and beloved Nickelodeon animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender, from the original creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, who will serve as showrunners and executive producers. The new series, in partnership with Nickelodeon, will be exclusively available on Netflix and will start production in 2019.

Avatar: The Last Airbender aired for three seasons originally on Nickelodeon, where it began in February 2005 and concluded in July 2008. The series was nominated for—and won—Annie Awards, Genesis Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and a Peabody Award. Avatar: The Last Airbender follows the adventures of the main protagonist Aang and his friends, who must save the world by defeating Fire Lord Ozai and ending the destructive war with the Fire Nation.

Avatar: The Last Airbender the live action series will star a culturally appropriate, non-whitewashed cast.

Pinky Malinky

Pinky Malinky is a brand-new fly-on-the-wall reality show that follows the everyday life of Pinky, an infectiously positive hot dog living in a human world. With his best friends Babs and JJ by his side, Pinky reaches for the stars in the small town of Sackenhack. Through his good spirits and sausage sensibilities, Pinky proves that a "wiener" is only one small letter away from being a "WINNER!"

Using the tropes of a mockumentary and reality show format, Pinky and his friends will talk directly to the camera and the audience to share their absurd and silly take on real life. At times, all children feel like they don't fit in and Pinky's undeniably unique point of view as a literal wiener amongst humans will allow kids to laugh at his familiar struggles and enjoy his unusual perspective on the challenges of being a school-aged kid. By always reaching for the stars, Pinky pushes himself further than anyone could imagine. Pinky and his friends' humorous experiences will also be shared across social media and Nickelodeon's digital platforms.

Co-created and co-executive produced by Chris Garbutt and Rikke Asbjoern (The Amazing World of Gumball) and executive produced by Scott Kreamer (Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness), the trio are a part of the Artist Collective, an internal diverse group of experienced creators who mentor and support up-and-coming talent while also collaborating to cultivate, challenge and inspire Nickelodeon's development pipeline.

Pinky Malinky stars Lucas Grabeel (Glenn Martin DDS) as Pinky Malinky, Diamond White (The Haunted Hathaways) as Babs Buttman, and Nathan Kress (iCarly) as JJ Jameson, along with Danny Jacobs, Retta, Colleen Smith, Vargus Mason, Lauren Tom, Robbie Daymond, and Grey Griffin.

The show will debut on Netflix as a Netflix Original, however, will still carry Nickelodeon branding.

Bixler High Private Eye is a brand-new comedy TV movie starring Jace Norman and Ariel Martin that tells the story of a young sleuth whose father suddenly goes missing. Norman plays Xander DeWitt, who has a knack for solving mysteries and finds himself tackling his biggest case when his father leaves for work one day and suddenly disappears without a trace. After hijinks and skipping school to find his dad, Xander’s mom sends him to live with his former private investigator grandfather in his dad’s hometown. He finds a surprising lead there and teams up with Kenzie Messina, played by Baby Ariel, an investigative reporter for the school newspaper. The TV movie also marks Henry Danger star Norman’s first time as executive producer.

Middle School Moguls

Middle School Moguls (four 30-minute specials) is inspired by the concept created by Gina and Jenae Heitkamp, who also serve as co-executive producers. The specials chronicle the ambitions of four new friends striving to create their own companies while attending Mogul Academy, an entrepreneurial school where kid-business dreams come true. They follow students Valeria (voiced by Olympic gold medalist Laurie Hernandez), Winnie (Daniella Perkins, Knight Squad, Blurt!), Celeste (Jade Pettyjohn, School of Rock) and Yuna (Haley Tju, Bella & the Bulldogs), who are empowered by Mogul Academy to test their business creativity, innovation and grit, but being a kid boss comes with grown-up challenges so they’ll have to think outside of the box and “mogulize” if they want to make their big dreams a reality.

Additional voice cast includes Tim Gunn (Project Runway) as Wren, a non-binary teacher in the Mogul Academy Fashion Branch, and Jane Lynch (Glee, iCarly) as Victoria Steele, the Headmaster of Mogul Academy.

Just like the original ‘90s series, this hand-drawn special stars Rocko, a wallaby who emigrated from Australia to the United States and enjoys the simple things in life; Heffer, Rocko’s best friend; Filburt, Rocko’s other best friend; and Ed Bighead and Bev Bighead, Rocko’s neighbors; as well as the other colorful characters.

Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling brings the characters back to Earth after being lost in outer space since 1996. Rocko has trouble accepting this 21st century modern life, while Heffer and Filburt embrace every aspect of new technology, social media and the endless diversity of food trucks. Rocko wholeheartedly believes that his nostalgia for the past can save him from the tortures of the modern world.

Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling will reunite the original voice cast members who will bring their iconic characters back to life. The special is written and executive produced by the series’ original creator Joe Murray.

Invader Zim: Enter The Florpus



Everyone's favorite megalomaniacal alien returns in Nickelodeon's brand-new Invader Zim TV movie! The 90-minute 2D-animated TV movie, from original creator Jhonen Vasquez, will show the latest and greatest ridiculous attempt at world domination by the universe’s worst alien invader ever. The movie will also feature original voices from the fan-favorite television series.

The Invader Zim movie, produced by Nickelodeon in Burbank, California, will follow perpetually desperate, delusional Zim as he concocts a new, potentially Earth-destroying plan to finally prove his worth and win him the respect he deserves from his Irken leaders, the Almighty Tallest.

In INVADER ZIM: Enter The Florpus, ZIM discovers his almighty leaders have no intention of coming to Earth and he loses confidence in his own amazingness for the first time in his amazing life, which is the big break his human nemesis Dib has been waiting for. At some point, GIR rides a tiny donkey, and that's all anyone should really care about.

Nickelodeon star and YouTube sensation JoJo Siwa is embarking on her first multi-city, live concert tour: Nickelodeon’s JoJo Siwa D.R.E.A.M. The Tour. Making stops in 25 cities across North America including Los Angeles, Seattle, Denver, New York and Atlanta. Siwa will kick off her show at the Comerica Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona on May 17, with the final performance at Bass Concert Hall in Austin, Texas, on June 26. Wonder Park

A tribute to creativity, Wonder Park tells the story of 10-year-old June, a wildly imaginative young girl who builds models of amusements parks with her mother. When June gets older, she starts to lose her sense of wonder and begins to shun her childhood ideas, including the idea of the park, packing away her models away. Nevertheless, her childhood catches up with her!


One day whilst exploring deep in the woods, in a magical moment, she discovers a roller coaster car buried under ivy. It transports her to a fantastical wonder park, like the ones she used to build, populated by animals who were its past employees. But the park is broken down, abandoned and in a state of decay.

June soon rediscovers the wonder of her world, and teams up with a whole host of talking animals to restore the park to its full glory, complete with spinning contraptions and inverting roller coasters, all whilst contending with a invasion of a army of cheeky chimpanzombies looking to stir up all kinds of destructive mischief.

Dora the Explorer stars Isabela Moner (100 Things to Do Before High School, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Transformers: The Last Knight, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Instant Family), who portrays the teen adventurer; Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives, Overboard) and Michael Peña, who play the parents of the titular character; Eugenio Derbez (Overboard, Instructions Not Included; How to Be A Latin Lover), who plays Alejandro, a mysterious jungle inhabitant who tries to protect the teenagers from the marauders; Jeffrey Wahlberg (Future World, Ballers, Counterpart, Reefa) in the role of cousin Diego; Nicholas Coombe (Spy Kids: Mission Control, Midnight Sun) as Randy, a fellow high schooler who develops an immediate crush on Dora; Madeleine Madden (Picnic at Hanging Rock, Tidelands) as the school’s snooty class president, Sammy; and Academy Award nominee Adriana Barraza (Babel, Amores Perros, Thor, The 33) as Dora’s grandma, Abuelita Valerie; Temuera Morrison (Green Lantern, Moana), who will play the role of Powell; Q’orianka Kilcher (The Alienist), will play Inca Princess Kawillaka; Pia Miller as Dora's aunt Mami; and Madelyn Miranda, who portrays Young Dora.

Dora the Explorer is produced by Christopher Robin producer Kristin Burr, who is joined by longtime Bobin associate, executive producer John G. Scotti (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted, Alice Through the Looking Glass) as well as executive producers Julia Pistor (The Spiderwick Chronicles, A Series of Unfortunate Events) and Eugenio Derbez.

Bobin has assembled a talented team behind the camera that also includes reunions with Oscar®-winning production designer Dan Hennah (Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, Alice Through the Looking Glass) and costume designer Rahel Afiley (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted, Flight of the Conchords). The pair will be joined by six-time Goya Award winning (and BAFTA nominated) cinematographer Javier Aguirresarobe, A.S.C. (Secretos del corazón, The Others, Blue Jasmine, Thor: Ragnarok), film editor Mark Everson (Paddington, Paddington 2) and BAFTA-nominated VFX supervisor Andy Brown (Black Panther, House of Flying Daggers, Moulin Rouge!)

Dora the Explorer recently wrapped filming in Australia’s Gold Coast, in the state of Queensland on the continent’s east coast south of Brisbane. Village Roadshow Studios, where the production is headquartered, has been host to several major Hollywood movies in the last few years, including The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Shallows, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok and, most recently, DC’s Aquaman. In addition to designer Hennah’s stage builds, the production is utilizing Queensland’s diverse landscape, notably tropical forests near Tamborine Mountain and Tallebudgera, to portray Dora’s jungle habitat.

Dora the Explorer is a Paramount Players and Nickelodeon production in association with Walden Media. The film is being supported by the Queensland Government via Screenland Queensland. Paramount will release the film on August 2, 2019.

Are You Afraid Of The Dark? Theatrical Movie

Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society, Paramount Players and Nickelodeon Movies are adapting Nickelodeon's iconic '90s horror anthology series Are You Afraid Of The Dark? into a feature film!

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it has been revealed that Gary Dauberman, the writer behind the New Line horror movies It and Annabelle: Creation, is penning the script and producing the project - so expect lots of things that go bump in the night! The movie will feature the return of Midnight Society and the iconic campfire, as well as a all-new original story. Matt Kaplan is producing along with Dauberman.

Peppa Pig to Introduce Preschoolers to a Live Orchestra in 'Peppa Pig: My First Concert'

London, UK - Big Oink-Tastic news just announced!


Peppa Pig, along with Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig and George, will visit the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London for Peppa Pig: My First Concert, a fun, interactive introduction to a live orchestra for ages 18 months and older!

During the brand-new live show, Peppa and George learn all about the different sounds that instruments make together, and enjoy some of their favourite music from the show played by an orchestra as well as discovering some other exciting orchestral pieces, perfect for children.

Little piggies can also join in with Peppa and her family, and make music of their own!

Peppa Pig: My First Concert will take place at the Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank Centre in London between Friday 15 and Sunday 17 February 2019.
