Kally’s MashUp is inspired by the real-life musical journey of Glee’s executive musical producer, Adam Anders. It follows the adventures of Kally, a young musical prodigy who tries to balance her life as a piano virtuoso and a regular girl when she moves from a small town to the most prestigious music university in the country. Although everyone thinks she was born to be a classical piano player, her true dream and passion is to be a pop star. Kally’s MashUp features original songs composed by Anders, his wife Nikki Anders, and longtime collaborator Peer Astrom. Anders serves as executive producer for the show and oversees all the music featured in the series.

Kally's MashUp season one (75×60-minute episodes) debuted on Nickelodeon Latinoamérica in October 2017 and has since been seen by more than 5 million viewers across the Latin American region, achieving the No. 1 position in Mexico among girls aged 7 to 14 years. Following its success, Nickelodeon Latinoamérica recently ordered more new episodes.

A new line of consumer products inspired by the popular series was released earlier this year. "Kally's MashUp: La música: banda sonora original de la serie de TV", a album featuring 18 songs from the hit TV show, was released on Friday 9th March 2018 by Deep Well Records, under exclusive license to Sony Music Entertainment US Latin LLC. The album can be downloaded now at kallysmashupofficial.com. A live stage show is expected to launch during winter 2018. Nickelodeon Latinoamérica recently hosted a contest in which one lucky Kally's MashUp fan won the chance to feature in the season finale of Kally's MashUp 2.

Nick Jr. Too UK Acquires Rights to 'Floogals'

Independent UK production company Nevision has struck an agreement with Nick Jr. Too in the UK for its hit animated series Floogals! From December 2018, the Viacom-owned preschool channel will air the first 52 x 11’ episodes of the series which is co-produced by Nevision, Zodiak Kids Studios and Universal Kids with UK animation studio Jellyfish Pictures.


Currently in production on a third season for co-production partner Universal Kids, NBCUniversal and commissioned by Channel 5’s Milkshake!, Floogals is a ground-breaking mix of photo-real CGI, and live action. Fleeker, Flo and Boomer are pocket-sized alien adventurers on a mission to observe, experience and detail the new and exciting world around them – Planet Earth! Arriving in their spaceship with a bump from the distant planet Floog, the Floogals are on a mission to document everything around them in the peculiar world of “hoomans”. Whilst trying to keep their presence a secret, the innately inquisitive Floogals discover the wonders of our big, exciting and sometimes baffling world as we see it from their tiny perspective – four inches off the ground!

In the UK Floogals is in the Top 5 shows for the Milkshake! block and has also reached a total of 8.1 million viewers since launching in July 2017.

Nickelodeon Names Participants of 19th Annual Writing Program

BURBANK, CA -- Nickelodeon has selected five new participants to join its 19th annual Writing Program, including the program’s first-ever preschool-specific finalist! The Nickelodeon Writing Program offers aspiring television writers with diverse backgrounds from all over the globe the opportunity to hone their skills while writing for both live-action and animated shows. Based in Burbank, participants will develop their skills with hands-on work during the year-long program.


“Nickelodeon is thrilled to welcome this next group of creative minds and storytellers into the program,” said Sherley Ibarra, director of the Nickelodeon Writing Program. “The expansion to include a preschool-focused writing track displays our commitment to finding and growing new talent in a space where Nickelodeon remains the top destination for kids.”

All participants will have the opportunity to network with executives and show creators, gain hands-on experience writing spec scripts, pitching story ideas, and have access to workshops, seminars, classes and real-world writers’ rooms. The new preschool-focused writing path is a modified six-month program, similar to the international track introduced in 2014.

K-Ci Williams

Established in 2000, the worldwide program was developed to broaden Nickelodeon’s outreach efforts, in order to mine new generations of creative talent and nurture their development for positions on Nickelodeon network productions in Burbank, Calif.

The five 2018 Writing Program participants include:

Halima Lucas: From Stockton, Calif., Lucas honed her craft at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, where she wrote and directed the award-winning coming-of-age thesis film, Amelia’s Closet. She recently participated in “Break The Room,” a writer’s initiative sponsored by Pop Culture Collab, MuslimArc, and Nickelodeon Writing Program alum Sameer Gardezi.

Sarah Allan: Born and raised in New England, Allan came to screenwriting by way of drama. She attended the New York University Tisch Drama Program, previously performed Shakespeare in Hell’s Kitchen and has experience terrifying visitors of Madison Square Garden’s haunted house. Following a chance opportunity, she wrote the tagline for Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and fell in love with professional writing.

Crescent Novell: A lifelong writer, Novell was named “Class Writer and Friend” in seventh grade and never looked back. As a writer of poems and songs, she published a chapbook and also performed on college tours as a spoken word artist. Working towards translating these skills to television, she is currently a writer and producer of theatre for schools and local communities.

Michael Olmo (Preschool Participant): Olmo is the program’s first-ever preschool-specific program participant. Born into a Puerto Rican family in New York, the importance of reading and writing was impressed on Olmo at an early age. He is a natural storyteller, pursuing a professional screenwriting career, inspired by creating personalized narratives every night for his daughter at bedtime.

K-Ci Williams (International Participant): Williams hails from New Zealand and has always dreamed of “writing his way out” to the United States. As a writer, and a singer, he wants to give a voice to his heritage and tell the stories of his people.

Alumni of the program who have gone on to hold positions on Nickelodeon shows include Jonathan Butler and Gabriel Garza (creators, Bella and the Bulldogs), Karla Sakas (story editor, The Loud House), Jeff Sayers (staff writer, Wonder Park), Tillery Johnson (staff writer, Glitch Techs) and Josh Brown (freelance writer, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). Outside of Nickelodeon, many program alumni have gone on freelance and staff positions at various networks, including HBO, DreamWorks, Comedy Central, Disney Channel, Kids’ WB!, ABC, FOX, PBS, Cartoon Network, and the CW.

Nickelodeon International Acquires 'ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks' Season 5

Nickelodeon International (excluding Brazil), Family Channel (Canada) and Telequebec (French-speaking Canada) have all ordered a fifth season of the hit animated series ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks!


California’s Bagdasarian Productions and French studio Technicolor Animation produce the series, with Paris-based distributor PGS representing the distribution rights worldwide, excluding France.

Production on a new batch of 52 x 11-minute episodes starts next month, with writing, producing and directing shared between the two co-producers.

Existing seasons of the series currently air on Nickelodeon channels worldwide, on SVOD service Hulu, and on international broadcasters such as M6 (France), Gloob (Brazil), Super RTL (Germany), RTBF/OufTIVI (Belgium), RTS (Switzerland) and K2 (Italy). Originally created in 1958, the property is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.

In addition to the media rights, PGS Entertainment also holds the international licensing and merchandising rights for ALVINNN!!! and The Chipmunks, excluding the U.S. and France.

Presented in CGI-animation, the classic comedy toon reflects the trials and tribulations of a single parent, David Seville, trying to raise six hyper-active Chipmunks - Alvin, Simon and Theodore and the Chippettes, Brittany, Eleanor and Jeanette. Like most parents, Dave’s patience will be pushed to the limit, forcing him to end most sentences in “ALVINNN!!!” The series takes viewers on a roller coaster ride of music, laughter and stories geared to entertain the Chipmunks’ four generations of fans and features a new, original Chipmunk song in every episode. The show is an energetic mix of music, comedy and stories aimed at entertaining Chipmunks fans of all ages.

Originally created in 1958, the property is celebrating its landmark 60th anniversary this year.


ALVINNN!!! and The Chipmunks season four is slated to be delivered to the show's broadcasters partners in May 2020.

Janice Karman and her husband, Ross Bagdasarian, are the owners of the Chipmunks franchise and producers of the previous 80s hit TV series and the four blockbuster Chipmunk movies.

Nickelodeon's New Chief Reveals He Wants to Bring Back 'All That'

Brian Robbins opens up about his gig heading up the kids' cable stalwart ("It's in my blood") and why he "would have never canceled"'All That.'


“When you get over $30 million, you get to that rarefied air [where] you’ve got to make a $100 million. That’s not easy,” says Robbins, photographed in his Paramount Players office on Oct. 12.

"Jim Gianopulos lied to me," says Paramount Players founder Brian Robbins from his office on the lot's Redstone building.

In early 2017, Robbins had left the successful digital company he founded, Awesomeness, after its majority stakeholder DreamWorks Animation was sold to Comcast. He was figuring out next steps when he was asked by Viacom CEO Bob Bakish to sit down with newly instated Paramount Pictures chief Gianopulos to discuss starting a studio label that would develop features with Viacom brands including Nickelodeon, MTV, and BET. Robbins had an important question for Gianopulos, who lived around the corner from him on L.A.'s Westside. "I said, 'Dude, how long does it take you to get to Paramount from Brentwood?' And he said it took 20 to 25. Total lie. It's 45 on a good day."

Robbins, 54, took the job (and purchased a house in the studio-adjacent neighborhood of Hancock Park, where he has spent the past year remodeling). In that same year, he has put more than 20 movies into development — everything from a new CG-animated/live-action Rugrats movie to a remake of the racy Indecent Proposal. He has two features currently in production, including a live-action Dora the Explorer, two in post, and one — the Tiffany Haddish-starring Nobody's Fool— set to hit theaters Nov. 2. He finally made the move to Hancock Park at the beginning of October, a week after the announcement that he would be heading to Burbank to head Viacom's struggling kids network, Nickelodeon, where he made his start as a producer and director on shows like All That.

Robbins, who began his Hollywood career as an actor on ABC's '80s sitcom Head of the Class, spoke to THR in mid-October about turning his fledgling studio label into a production powerhouse and what was behind his choice to leave.

What makes a Paramount Players movie?

I was trying to be diverse for the brands, so I was targeting the audiences of the brands. I was making a Dora the Explorer movie for Nickelodeon. Nobody's Fool and [director] Tyler [Perry] was for BET. The diversity of the slate comes from something Jim said to me, which I'm stealing now for the rest of my life. He said, "We either have to make movies for everybody or you have to make a movie for somebody." So if that somebody is teen girls, make sure we make the best movie for teen girls; we could go really deep in that quadrant and you get The Fault in Our Stars. If you're going to make an African-American female movie, then you make Girls Trip. You could make more niche audience movies as long as they are broad in the niche.

You were in the digital space for so long with Awesomeness. Did you have any worries about coming back into a studio system?

Not at all. When I started Awesomeness, it was really a side project to my production company. I saw an opportunity to experiment. It wasn't like I woke up one day and said, "Oh, I'm going to build a digital company and it's going to go from no valuation to a billion dollars." No. It wasn't a master plan. It was never going to be my life's work. [Paramount Players] was the first job I've ever had. I've only ever worked for myself. So I looked at this as I did everything else in my career: I wanted to be entrepreneurial, and they set it up so I could be entrepreneurial.

Why were you putting films into development at such a frantic pace?

We didn't have any movies to begin with. We started a division from scratch but also the studio — Jim started probably two or three months before I did. So the truth of the matter is the cupboards were bare. We really had to just be entrepreneurial. And we also weren't the first stop in town. The reputation wasn't great, so Jim had to rebuild the executive team, and it was up to us to get some movies going. I told my guys, "Let's not develop to develop. Everything we develop, we should be thinking, 'That's a movie we are going to make.'" A lot of people in the movie business just buy stuff defensively, and I think we have only bought stuff that we're passionate about, which is why we got stuff going so fast.

Did you ever consider acquiring films?

Yeah. I don't want to say which movie because I don't want to make anybody feel bad, but there was a movie at Sundance that I [had] read the script for, and I got these guys to approve a big check for me to go buy. It would've been a massive sale. And then when I saw the movie I was like, "Ehhh." I mean, I went [to Sundance] and literally I had the cash in my back pocket to buy the movie. My team actually wanted to buy it. As it turns out, I was very right. It's not like it used to be, there's not a lot of surprises anymore at festivals.

Over the past year, have you seen the studio's reputation in the industry change?

Oh yeah. Between Wyck [Godfrey, Motion Picture Group president] coming on, and our guys, we are making movies. Jim's appetite is large, and he wants to get to 16, 18 releases a year. We have a ways to go to get there. My hope is that this division keeps kicking. The development slate we have should carry through for a few years.

After building the Paramount Players brand for a year, why did you decide to leave?

I hate to say "leave." It's all in the same company and I'm going to hold on to the Nickelodeon part of the movie business. Nickelodeon is a very, very important asset to the company, to Viacom. One of the most important assets. I was struggling with the decision, but ultimately Bob [Bakish] convinced me to do this because of the importance of it. My first TV show that I produced was All That, then Kenan & Kel and The Amanda Show, so I sort of have Nickelodeon in my blood. I really, really want the brand to win and succeed, and so I feel like it's almost weirdly my duty to go do this and try to bring it back and win.

What is the biggest obstacle facing kids programming right now?

(Slides his phone across the table.) We live in an on-demand world, meaning it's not driven by Tuesday night at 8 o'clock anymore. If I'm a kid and I want to watch SpongeBob, I can get SpongeBob in a lot of different ways. You have a generation of kids who are the first generation to grow up with iPhones and connected devices and streaming services. You used to come home and it was either Nickelodeon or the Disney Channel and maybe Cartoon Network and that was it. But now there's all these other choices and games and mobile games and console games and Instagram.

You started your career at Nickelodeon. Are there any projects that you would like to see rebooted?

I was actually at Saturday Night Live this weekend in New York with Kenan Thompson, who grew up on All That and Kenan & Kel. It was my first time seeing him on the show and I really wanted to cry. I was so proud. I've known the kid since he's 14 years old. All That ran for 10 years. I would've never, ever, ever canceled the show. It should've been [Nickelodeon's] Saturday Night Live. All That was a very sophisticated show. Young humor, but the level of comedy on that show was sophisticated.

You could bring it back now.

Nickelodeon's all-new Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles float will debut at the 92nd Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade®.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nickelodeon’s Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a reimagined take on the iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, will roll into the 92nd Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade® on a brand-new float inspired by the bold and dramatic aesthetic of the 2D-animated series. The multi-tiered float will give fans a look at the world famous fighting foursome’s underground lair and will bring the series’ New York City streets to life for more than 3.5 million spectators lining the route and more than 50 million viewers nationwide.

From their underground lair to the streets of New York City, Nickelodeon’s Heroes in a Half-Shell will take fans on a wild ride down 34th street on a one-of-a-kind float, featuring an insider’s look at the Turtles in their natural habitat, punctuated by an array of lighting and fog special effects.

The 92nd Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade airs nationwide on NBC-TV, on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018 from 9:00 AM – Noon; in all time zones.

В НОВОМ СЕЗОНЕ ДЕТИ НАЧАЛИ СМОТРЕТЬ NICK JR. ЕЩЕ БОЛЬШЕ!


В сентябре на Nick Jr. состоялась премьера 5 сезона одного из самых любимых среди российских детей мультсериала «Щенячий патруль»[1]. В новых сериях зрители увидели приключения озорного мальчика Райдера и храбрых щенят – Гончика, Маршала, Скай, Крепыша, Рокки, Эверест и Зумы. Герои мультсериала помогают тем, кто попал в непростую ситуацию, а также противостоят котятам-хулиганам из команды «КОТастрофа» под руководством мэра города Фогги-Боттом Хамдингера. В новом сезоне отряд из смелых и решительных щенков, возглавляемый Райдером, находит потерявшегося страусенка, возвращает реликвию, пропавшую с места раскопок, а также выручает капитана Палтуса и его двоюродного брата, застрявших в батисфере на дне океана.

Согласно результатам рейтингов, по сравнению с предыдущим годом, в сентябре 2018 года дошкольники смотрели любимые мультсериалы на Nick Jr. на 4% дольше, что составило 73 минуты в день[2].

«АйКарли» и «Биг Тайм Раш» вернутся на Nickelodeon после долго перерыва. Эпизоды сериала «АйКарли» расскажут о девочке Карли, которая вместе с друзьями выпускает свое развлекательное онлайн-шоу. Передача пользуется невероятным успехом – Карли становится популярной и узнает больше о шоу-бизнесе. «Биг Тайм Раш» поведает историю четырех лучших друзей, 16-летних подростков, которым неожиданно выпадает шанс стать популярными музыкантами. Nickelodeon Benelux Teams Up with Dutch Supermarket Hoogvliet for New Kids Healthy Eating Initiative

Nickelodeon Benelux has teamed up with Dutch supermarket Hoogvliet to launch a brand-new initiative to inspire children to eat more healthily!


In recent years, there has been a strong trend in Europe in which consumers have become more increasingly aware of the food they buy and eat. However, a group that still lags behind this trend is often the children's. Hoogvliet wants to change this, and have partnered with Nickelodeon to launch a new Nickelodeon children's fruit concept.


In the initiative, to encourage children to eat more fruit, children who take a Nickelodeon-branded fruit bowl filled with 120g of grapes, tomatoes, cucumbers or pepper punnets to school are rewarded with a reward card that will be inside each bowl. The idea of the initiative is that, by the time kids have collected 32 cards, they will have got acclimatised to healthy snacks, and thus will continue to eat more healthily. When they have collected all the 32 cards, they will double as a Happy Families card game.


The trend towards eating healthily continues strongly, and even schools try to get children to eat fruit by obliging parents to give children a healthy snack.

Each pack will feature popular Nickelodeon characters, such as SpongeBob SquarePants, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Shimmer and Shine (Shimmer en Shine) and PAW Patrol.


To promote the healthy Nickelodeon snacks, Hoogvliet have designed colourful eye-catching display cabinets, designed to encourage children to ask their parents to buy fruit for them.


The Nickelodeon Fruit Bowls will launch at retail in November (week #44), and will be priced at €1 per bowl. The range will also be adding more Nickelodeon Fruit Bowls in the coming months, as well as a box filled with tangerines. When empty, the box can be used as a toy to play with. The news follows Nickelodeon teaming up with HillFresh International for a multi-year programme in Europe to offer a range of Nickelodeon-branded healthy snacking produce for children in October 2017.

Viacom Nickelodeon Consumer Products (VNCP) is preparing to launch its first range of merchandise inspired by Nickelodeon Germany (Deutschland), Austria (Österreich) and Switzerland's (Schweiz) hit daily drama series Spotlight!


Spotlight will be the first locally-produced German series that VNCP will create a consumer products' line for. Currently in development, the line of Spotlight merchandise include items in product categories such as Apparel & Fashion, Accessories, Home Entertainment (DVDS & CDS), as well as Stationery & Back to School, after which there will be a gradual further expansion of the product line.

Nickelodeon is working with Münster-based agency Dreispur to being the Spotlight merchandise line to life.

Spotlight follows a group of teenagers who study at the "Berlin School of Arts", a fictional school that combines artistic education with regular education. The series, currently in its third season - which premiered in September 2018, stars: Lea Mirzanli (Azra), Dennis Oertel (Jannik), Lisa Küppers (Rubi), Luana Knöll (Toni), Ben Rummler, Jesina Amweg (Lotte), and singer Mike Singer (Luke) will be joined by newcomers Chiara Tews, Malcom Meckert, Simon Zeller (Milan), Nevena Schöneberg, Moritz Bäckerling (Mo), Chiara Tews (Greta) and Moritz Schirdewahn (Tim), and Malcom Meckert (Rocco), among others.
