Nickelodeon Benelux has once again teamed up with popular YouTube stars for a second season of the networks hit weekly competition series De Viral Fabriek (The Viral Factory), set to premiere at 6:00pm uur on Sunday 7th October 2018 on Nickelodeon Netherlands (Nederland) and Belgium (België; Flanders)! The second season will be presented by Nienke van Dijk and Jasper Publie.


Who doesn't dream of becoming the next big YouTuber, coached along the way by some of today's most popular YouTubers? In Nickelodeon's De Viral Fabriek, eight new teams of young YouTubers will compete with some of the biggest Dutch and Belgian YouTubers!

Following the broadcast of each weeks episode, the battle will continue online, when the contestants place their vlogs on Nickelodeon Nederland's official YouTube channel. Each weeks winner will be determined by the number of likes viewers give each video. The winning kids will then go on to compete against each other in the big live final on Sunday 2nd December 2018, where one lucky winner will win the grand prize: A professional camera package and training from a YouTube professional on how they can build their own successful YouTube channel!

One of the eight teams competing on De Viral Fabriek season two is comprised of Ambachtse Aniek and Ju-lieke, who were selected to compete on the show out from lots of contestant applications.

For the last two weeks, the two young girls from Drechtsteden, in the company of a well-known YouTuber and a Nickelodeon camera crew, we spotted in Drechtsteden. Aniek Groenewout and Ju-lieke Snijders are two enthusiastic vloggers. They continuously film and vlog, but there is still little home-made content produced by them on the internet. Editing the raw film material is something that the girls still find difficult. When Nickelodeon was looking for new contestants for the The Viral Factory season two, the decision to sign up was quickly made. Because how can you learn how to YouTube better than from real YouTubers? The ladies recorded a movie and sent it in. After an selection period, the pair were eventually chosen as one of the 8 participating teams.

Dit najaar krijgt nieuw, jong Youtube-talent weer de kans om gecoacht te worden door de populairste YouTubers van dit moment in het Viacom/Nickelodeon programma 'De Viral Fabriek'.

Tijdens de afleveringen volgen we de deelnemers die, onder leiding van hun coach, een video maken met maar één doel: viral gaan! Onder leiding van 8 van de grootste YouTubers van Nederland en België gaan kids de strijd met elkaar aan.

'De Viral Fabriek' wordt gepresenteerd door Nienke van Dijk en Vlaamse co-host Jasper Publie. Vorig seizoen haalde 'De Viral Fabriek' meer dan 2 miljoen views op YouTube. HENDRIK-IDO-AMBACHT - Twee meiden uit de Drechtsteden in De Viral Fabriek van Nickelodeon. In het nieuwe seizoen van de Viral Fabriek vormen de Ambachtse Aniek en Ju-lieke, samen met een bekende YouTuber, 1 van de 8 teams. In het tweede seizoen van Nickelodeon’s wekelijkse show De Viral Fabriek gaat nieuw, jong YouTube-talent opnieuw de strijd met elkaar aan onder leiding van acht van de grootste Nederlandse en Belgische YouTubers.

When Mayor Goodway goes missing during the day of the Great Adventure Bay Race, the pups come to the rescue. Join Ryder, Chase, Marshall, Rocky, Rubble, Zuma, Sky and Everest for the show’s first tour in across Netherlands and Belgium! Featuring a cast of everybody’s favourite PAW Patrol characters, PAW Patrol Live!“Race to the Rescue,” shows that “no job is too big, no pup is too small,” and shares lessons for all ages about citizenship, social skills and problem-solving as the characters each use their unique skills and teamwork.


Each performance will run for one hour and 20 minutes, including two acts and an intermission. All the actors and puppies in the show will speak Swedish.

PAW Patrol Live! – Räddningsloppet engages audiences with Bunraku puppetry, an innovative costuming approach that brings the PAW Patrol characters to life on stage with their vehicles and packs.

“Using Bunraku, puppetry elements are built into costumes worn by real actors to create a wonderful combination of life-size pups and to make a stronger connection with the audience. The PAW Patrol cast sings and dances, which brings a fun, realistic parallel between the animated series and the live show,” says Jim Waters, producer, VStar Entertainment Group.


The performance features up-tempo music and a brand new cleverly written script that is a good introduction to live theatre for kids. Classic theatrical scenery along with a high-tech video wall visually transports families to an authentic PAW Patrol environment, including locations from the TV series, like Adventure Bay, The Lookout, Seal Island, Farmer Yumi's farm and Jake's Mountain.

Nickelodeon Germany (Deutschland), Austria (Österreich) and Switzerland (Schweiz) today announced the exciting news that filming has commenced on the third season of its hugely popular locally produced cross-media daily TV series Spotlight, which follows the lives of a group of young talented students at theatrical school and their dreams to take the stage, for a third season!

Following the success of the first two seasons, Nick GSA is treating fans to three times the fun, with a whopping 93 episodes - triple the amount than previous seasons - confirmed to feature in season three, which is being produced by UFA Serial Drama. To produce the super-sized third season, two production teams are working on the new episodes simultaneously to get the filming completed over a six week period.

The setting of Spotlight season three is once again the familiar location of the "Berlin School of Arts", a fictional school that combines artistic education, such as singing, dancing and acting, with regular education.

In addition to the increased episode order, the cast will also be expanding. Familiar faces Lea Mirzanli (Azra), Dennis Oertel (Jannik), Lisa Küppers (Rubi), Luana Knöll (Toni), Ben Rummler, Jesina Amweg (Lotte), and singer Mike Singer (Luke) will be joined by newcomers Chiara Tews, Malcom Meckert, Simon Zeller and Nevena Schöneberg, who will usher in a new generation at Spotlight. Newcomer Moritz Schirdewahn is no stranger to kids. As "HeyMoritz", he is already very successful in front of the camera, hosting his own popular YouTube channel which lets fans participate in his life, among other things, with Daily Vlogs.

In addition to new students, fans can also look forward to a prominent visit to the "Berlin School of Arts". As in previous years, various guest stars will take on small and large rolls in the new series. Among others: Florian Prokop and Kristina Schmidt, who rose to fame on Das Haus Anubis, Nickelodeon's German remake of House of Anubis; dancer Nikeata Thompson, will also inspire the students with her moves; and none other than Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten-star Raphael Schneider will take on the role of the math teacher in the new season. Fans can also look forward to guest star appearances from: Iggi Kelly; rock band TIL; Mario Novembre; and the pop duo Bars & Melody.

Nickelodeon Deutschland will debut Spotlight season three on Monday 3rd September 2018, with new episodes premiering regularly Mondays through Sundays.

Neue Schüler und gleich zwei Drehteams für die dritte Staffel: Die Dreharbeiten zu Nickelodeons 'Spotlight' sind gestartet

Berlin, 19. Juli 2018 – Die erste Klappe ist gefallen. Ab sofort stehen die Kids der 'Spotlight'-Crew wieder vor der Kamera. Satte 93 Episoden produziert der Kindersender Nickelodeon in Zusammenarbeit mit der UFA Serial Drama in diesem Jahr. Das sind dreimal so viele Folgen wie in den Staffeln zuvor.

Gedreht werden die Episoden parallel. Zwei Teams arbeiten zeitgleich, um die neuen Folgen im Zeitraum von sechs Wochen abzudrehen. Location der Show ist wieder die fiktive „Berlin School of Arts“, die Schule, in der für die Spotlight-Schüler neben Mathe, Deutsch und Englisch auch Gesang, Tanz und Schauspiel auf dem Stundenplan stehen.

Auch der Cast wird 2018 massiv aufgestockt. Zu den bekannten Gesichtern Lea Mirzanli, Dennis Oertel, Lisa Küppers, Luana Knöll, Ben Rummler, Jesina Amweg und Sänger Mike Singer gesellen sich ab sofort die Neuschauspieler Chiara Tews, Malcom Meckert, Simon Zeller und Nevena Schöneberg, die eine neue Generation bei Spotlight einläuten. Seit Anfang September könnt ihr täglich die neue „Spotlight“-Staffel auf Nickelodeon sehen. Neben Mike Singer (18) und vielen weiteren bekannten Gesichtern erwarten euch aber natürlich auch diesmal wieder ein paar neue Charaktere! Damit ihr wisst, mit wem ihr es zu tun habt, stellen wir euch hier Chiara Tews und Simon Zeller vor.

„Greta“ braucht Dating- und Kusstipps

Chiara Tews ist 16 und kommt aus Erfurt. In „Spotlight“ schlüpft sie in die Rolle der talentierten Tänzerin Greta und wird am 8. Oktober zum ersten Mal in der Serie zu sehen sein. Die Arbeit am Set hat der 1,63 großen Schauspielerin extrem Spaß gemacht – auch, wenn die sieben Wochen Drehen echt anstrengend waren. So ein Tag am „Spotlight“-Set konnte schon mal von morgens bis abends dauern! Doch das ganze Drumherum war so cool, dass das niemanden gestört hat – und natürlich gab es auch mal chillige Arbeitstage. Am witzigsten fand sie eine Szene, in der ihre Serienfigur Greta von ihren beiden Freundinnen Emily und Lotte Dating- und Kusstipps verpasst bekommt.

Männliche Unterstützung bekommt der „Spotlight“-Cast von Simon Zeller (18)! Der gebürtige Augsburger mischt die Serien-Clique als Milan auf und hat seinen ersten Auftritt am 14. Oktober. Simon erinnert sich super gerne an die Zeit am Set zurück: „Wir sind eine freshe Crew und verstehen uns alle sehr gut", sagte der Musik-Fan.

Sein absolutes persönliches Highlight der Staffel ist eine Szene im Finale, zu der er aber wegen Spoiler-Alarm noch nicht mehr verraten wollte. Im „echten Leben“ macht Simon übrigens gerade eine Ausbildung zum Tanzpädagogen, Bühnentänzer und Choreographen. Ganz schön vielseitig!

The 22-year Nickelodeon vet has been upped to SVP of creative development, global experience design to lead efforts around theme parks, resorts and live entertainment.

Nickelodeon has promoted Ron Hines to Senior Vice President (SVP) of Creative Development and Global Experience Design. With Hines’s promotion, he will report to Anne Mullen, Executive Vice President, Preschool Brand Creative and Marketing, Global Experience Design.


A 22-year veteran at the kids network, Hines started out his career at Nickelodeon as a designer/art director, migrated into a senior studio director position at Nickelodeon Recreation, and then was named Vice President (VP) of Creative Development for Nickelodeon Experience Design in 2016.

In his new role, Hines will lead a team of designers and art directors working with partners to develop, produce and implement Nickelodeon-licensed theme parks, water parks, resorts, cruises, live entertainment productions, exhibits and corporate events. In his decades of design experience, Hines has helped bring to life Nickelodeon Universe in the Mall of America, as well as theme parks and waterparks in Europe, Asia and Australia.


Based in Orlando, Florida, Hines will continue leading on two new Nickelodeon Universe projects currently under development at the American Dream Mall in New Jersey scheduled to open in 2019 and Mall of China in Chongqing scheduled to open in 2020. Prior to joining Nickelodeon’s Experience Design team in 2004, Hines worked with several other global brands including Universal, Hard Rock and AT&T.

Recently promoted to SVP of creative development and global experience design, Hines talks to Kidscreen about how he is expanding Nickelodeon’s location-based offerings with a focus on theme parks.

Strap in, because Nickelodeon is ready to take consumers on a wild ride.

The kidcaster is investing in live and location-based brand extensions, and has upped Ron Hines to lead the charge as SVP of creative development and global experience design. In his new role, Hines will head up a team of designers and art directors working with partners to develop, produce and implement Nickelodeon-licensed theme parks, water parks, resorts, cruises, live entertainment productions, exhibits and corporate events.

A 22-year veteran at Nickelodeon, Hines started out as a designer and art director, migrated into a senior studio director position at Nickelodeon Recreation, and was then named VP of creative development for Nickelodeon experience design in 2016. “It was a real shift of focus from project design, development and execution, over to the initiation of projects and setting them up for success,” he says. “Now it’s my job to influence the direction of these projects and to get the projects in alignment with creative intent, scope and budget.”

The variety of projects now under his purview is immense, and requires a broad range of expertise. One partnership might see Nickelodeon building an entire theme park from the ground up, while another could require a single ride that fits into a larger project. Different territories also have a variety of needs, and that means a live show touring the US can require an entirely different focus from the same show being performed in Singapore.

“From a cultural standpoint, it’s very important to understand how guests around the world like to experience themed entertainment, what resonates with them and what doesn’t,” Hines says. “There’s also the question of what those guests are aware of. When we’re in mature markets where Nickelodeon is a household name, like in the US and Europe, we are focused on leveraging opportunities to enhance affinity for the brand. As we find ourselves in newer markets, it’s an interesting challenge and an opportunity to make ourselves a household name.”

One of these newer markets where he’s focusing on growing Nick’s brand recognition is China. Hines will continue to lead two Nickelodeon Universe projects currently in development—the American Dream Mall in New Jersey (slated to open in 2019) and the Mall of China in Chongqing (scheduled to open in 2020).

At nearly seven acres, the project in Chongqing will be the company’s largest indoor theme park, featuring 14 properties (including PAW Patrol, SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Dora the Explorer) across 29 themed attractions. Its TMNT-themed coaster is expected to set four new world records for an indoor roller coaster ride, including longest track, highest drop, most inversions and fastest maximum speed.

The project in New Jersey is unique, Hines says, because it marks the first ground-up theme park project that Nickelodeon has executed. In the past, the company has worked to renovate, revitalize or redevelop existing sites.

Those theme park and walk-around character programs are really the gold standard for Hines when he is trying to explain live and location-based brand extensions to potential partners. “Experience is really becoming king. People want to share, and with theme parks, they get to immerse themselves in these fun, fantastical IPs that they otherwise only see on air,” he says. “At the parks, they actually get to experience these worlds. Parents get to watch their kids hug SpongeBob SquarePants, and that engagement goes way beyond the attendance of any individual park or attraction.”

Explaining that importance to potential partners is key, because as the company’s live and location-based efforts continue to expand, much of Hines’s work will focus on finding the right partners.

“In the past, we would staff up and do the development ourselves. But the growth of the opportunities has outpaced that as a viable option,” says Hines. “Now we’re partnering with companies all over the globe to help spearhead development, and it puts us in a smarter place of working toward our expertise, rather than just working toward our ability. That’s the mindset that’s going to take us into the next 10 years as far as how we’re going to operate.”

These significant changes in strategy reflect the immense growth undergone by the industry in his more than two decades with Nickelodeon. “I think what we’re seeing now is a move toward people’s expectations rising. It’s really fantastic for the industry,” he says. “Our group has been identified within the company as a huge sector of potential growth. We’re poised to do the greatest things we’ve ever been able to do for the company in the next several years.”

Peter Jackson undecided on next Tintin film source


The long-lingering Tintin sequel is still alive, but a long ways out.

Peter Jackson is still hoping to follow up 2011’s hit Nickelodeon theatrical movie The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn with a sequel, with him directing and Steven Spielberg producing. The project has been in development since 2008, when Sony agreed to finance two Tintin films.

Speaking with Polygon at a press event promoting Mortal Engines (another long-in-development project he is producing), Peter Jackson offered an update to the status of the second Tintin film, and whether it’s still in the works.


“I’m intending to” make it, said Jackson. “I’ve got gotta get the script written, but I’m certainly hoping to get another Tintin film, one which I’ve directed. This one, Steven [Spielberg] would produce. It’s within the next year or two, I would hope. I mean, there’s nothing happening this very second, but it does literally need me to sit down and develop a script for it. So probably in the new year, I’ll try to do that.”

For the last several years, the understanding was that the second film would focus on Prisoners of the Sun, a Tintin story set in Peru involving ancient Incan temples and princes. But it seems Jackson is not locked into pulling from that story when he does begin working on the script.

“I’ve had certain times where I thought it was going to be this, it’s going to be that ... For a while, we’ve gone to Prisoners of the Sun,” said Jackson. “But I’m not necessarily thinking that that would be where we’d go next time. There’s so many good stories, and I just want to see what I feel like making.”

He continued, saying that it’s really his call what the second film ends up focusing on.

“There’s no one that dictates what it has to be, you know — I get to choose. So I wanna just make that choice carefully because [...] I love the variety, you know? You can go the Indiana Jones-sort of Prisoners of the Sun, or you can go into The Calculus Affair and be more of a Eastern Bloc thriller. [...] There’s the moon ones where you can explore the moon and space. There’s so many choices, and I couldn’t tell you today [...] which way I’m going.”

Sounds like Tintin fans shouldn’t be holding their breath awaiting the next installment, but Jackson’s passion for the franchise still seems clear. It’s really just a matter of when he can make time for it.
