The television industry news website Broadcast is reporting the unfortunate Nickelodeon UK News that Peter Drake, vice president, creative director at Nickelodeon UK, is leaving the broadcaster after seven years due to family issues.
Drake, who has been responsible for much of Nick UK's promotions and short-form content, including the Promax Global award-winning "I Heart Art" and Nickelodeon UK original productions "The Go!Go!Go! Show", "Jordan and Perri's Ultimate Block Party" and "Anubis Unlocked", the UK-produced behind-the-scenes companion series to Nickelodeon's break-out hit "House of Anubis", is exiting to spend more time with his wife, who is unwell, and two children.
He also plans to invest more time doing work in support of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, including The Every Day Counts Fundraiser, an upcoming charity event which will be held on Thursday 5th September 2013 at the Bloomsbury Ballroom in London. The Every Day Counts Fundraiser event will feature a special gala dinner and auction in which stars from the world of television, TV networks and iconic figures from exploration and sport have all donated unique items for hosted by television personality Anna Williamson (Nickelodeon, ITV), and will feature special surprise guests and unforgettable music.
The evening culminates in an auction (with services kindly provided by the fine arts auction house Christies) which will offer attendees the chance to bid for genuinely extraordinary and unique items and experiences, including a character named after you in Graham Linehan's ("Father Ted", "The IT Crowd", "Big Train", "Black Books") latest comedy, tickets to MTV's EMA's, a unique evening with comedian David Walliams ("Little Britain", "Come Fly with Me"), fashion from Australian singer/songwriter Dannii Minogue, and adventurer and environmentalist David de Rothschild's first edition IWC watch!

In an staff email earlier this week, Nickelodeon UK managing director Tina McCann said Drake had been an integral part of the team. "We will miss him loads – not only for his expertise and vision which has meant that we have created and broadcast some of the very best original content for kids but also because of his unique sense of humour which has kept us entertained over the years."
Drake added: "It's a bittersweet feeling to let go of the role I've loved so much and feel so passionate about, but I've have a wonderful time. Now it's time to face fully the challenge of Marie's illness and work on our charity event. I will also continue to work on other projects that interest me and my passion for television remains undimmed."
While at Nickelodeon UK, Peter Drake was also responsible for devising and launching several channel refresh's for Nickelodeon UK's bouquet of channels, Nickelodeon, Nicktoons and Nick Jr., including the UK launch of Nickelodeon's new typographical logo rebrand in 2010, Nicktoons brand refresh in 2007, and Nick Jr.'s 2013 rebrand.
