Nickelodeon USA To Hold 10th Annual Worldwide Day of Play On Saturday 21st September 2013 at Prospect Park in Brooklyn, New York

Nickelodeon, one of the world's leading entertainment brands for kids and families, has announced in a Tweet (post) on their official Twitter profile page (@NickelodeonTV) that Nick USA's annual Worldwide Day of Play (WWDoP) is back for a tenth year, and to celebrate the 10th Annual Worldwide Day of Play, Nickelodeon will be holding a big free event in Brooklyn, New York City, and Nick wants YOU to join them!


For the tenth consecutive year, Nickelodeon is empowering kids to get up and get active with Worldwide Day of Play, a whole day dedicated to getting out, getting active and having fun!

This years Worldwide Day of Play event will be held on Saturday 21st September 2013 (9.21.13), at The Nethermead at Prospect Park in Brooklyn, New York, and will feature a special Nick Jr. Zone, a stage for performances, a morning activities/audience area, a Re-Charge Zone where attendees can get water, power and information, a gazebo, and special areas where festival goers can participate in partner activities.

Nick's WWDoP 2013 event is free, however, you will need a valid free ticket to attend this year's WWDOP event. Nickelodeon will announce more information on how you can obtain free tickets to Worldwide Day of Play 2013 very soon!

To accompany Worldwide Day of Play 2013, Nickelodeon has launched the networks brand new WWDoP 2013 website on their official The Big Help website, thebighelp.com, including a 'Road to WWDoP' area which is packed full of information about this years WWDoP event in NYC, including a printable map of where Nick's WWDoP will be held in Brooklyn's Prospect Park.

Can't make it to NYC to attend this years Worldwide Day of Play? Don't worry! Nickelodeon has provided a downloadable PDF Playbook which is full of ideas on how you can plan your very own Worldwide Day of Play event where you live!

Nick's official Worldwide Day of Play 2013 website also has top tips on how you can get out and play, a "I Play Because" video section where visitors can watch online streaming videos in which kids talk about why they play, a message board/forum where visitors can talk about Worldwide Day of Play, talk about what activities they do to have fun, and post their own tips, a photo flip book full of pictures from Worldwide Day of Play 2012, a flip book packed with photographs of how Nickelodeon Stars have played in the past, and a partners page featuring a list of organizations Nickelodeon is proud to work with to help make Worldwide Day of Play a success!

Organizations participating this year include AbilityPath/Best Buddies, Afterschool Alliance, Art of Stepping, ASPCA, Association of Children's Museums, Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City, Bike New York, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Girl Scouts, Girls on the Run, Key Club / Kiwanis, Kid Tribe, National Double Dutch League, National Football League (NFL) / Play 60, National Park Foundation, New York Road Runners Club, Office of School Wellness, Playward, Police Athletic League, President's Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition, Safe Routes to School Foundation, United States Tennis Association (USTA), USA Ultimate, YMCA / The Y, and Zumba Fitness.

WWDoP began in 2004 as a part of Nickelodeon's The Big Help initiative, a kid-led movement for positive change that focuses on issues that are important to kids, including health and wellness, the environment, education, and community service. Through the Big Help health and wellness component, kids are encouraged to be more active for healthier lifestyles.
