The Bullard High School Key Club in Texas will partner with Key Club International and Nickelodeon to host a Nickelodeon Worldwide Day of Play event on Saturday 19th September 2015 at O.L. Ferrell Park, located in downtown Bullard!
"We had a great turnout for the Day of Play last year," said Jennifer Dorsey, sponsor of the BHS Key Club. "It was a good feeling to see many families attend the event, play the various games, and have fun as a family. We had gorgeous weather, a lot of fun, and hope for the same this year."
Approximately 50 children from Bullard and their families attended the fun-filled event last year. The BHS Key Club and Builder's Club facilitated the day's activities, which included activities such as baseball, sack races, kickball, hippity-hop races, limbo, a giant parachute, Frisbee, Red-Rover, and face painting.
This summer, Nickelodeon celebrated kids' love of play by holding "Road to Worldwide Day of Play" events in cities across the USA. The initiative will culminate with Nickelodeon's annual "Worldwide Day of Play" event on Saturday 26th September 2015, when the network will suspend programming from 10:30am - 2:00pm CDT in order to encourage kids to get up, get out and get active. Nickelodeon's WWDoP partners will also host grassroots activities to celebrate play and promote healthy living and exercise for all ages on Saturday 26th September 2015. Whilst off-air, Nickelodeon will showcase the organizations holding Days of Play, and their locations, encouraging parents and children to play outside.
"So many people," said Dorsey, "including adults, have couch potato lifestyles. No one wants their child to become unhealthy. The Worldwide Day of Play is a great opportunity to get kids away from the television and video games, and to just go outside and play like a kid."
Attendees are asked to provide a picnic lunch for their respective families, as well as bring water and sunscreen for throughout the day.
