Family entertainment specialist Rainbow has announced that the magic of Winx Club will appear on South African screens this month, thanks to a deal with ETV – one of the country's leading free to air channels!
The channel started broadcasting Winx Club seasons five and six, which Rainbow co-produced with Nickelodeon, on Thursday 16th July 2015. To celebrate, the launch is being accompanied by a massive ETV marketing campaign across TV, press and digital media.
The debut of Winx Club on ETV adds to an existing global audience of millions, who enjoy Winx Club's signature mixture of family-friendly storylines, fashionable themes and beautiful animation. The show follows the adventures of a group of young fairies and combines action and adventure with comedy, appealing to girls from 4 to 10 right up to tween/teen.
ETV will also be running a competition, in partnership with Rainbow, that will see a few lucky fans win exclusive Winx Club dolls, which will hit South African shelves from November 2015.
"We are delighted ETV is beaming the magic of Winx Club into South African homes," says Andrea Graciotti, Head of Sales and Co-Production at Rainbow. "The many Winx fans across the country will be thrilled to see their favourite fairies on TV!"
"OpenView HD is excited to welcome Bloom and her five best friends from The Winx Club onto eToons+ (Channel 200). The global success and following of The Winx Club is testament to the value that the brand offers. We hope that South African kids will grow to love the Winx fairies as much as the rest of the world. OpenView HD is a platform that gives South African Audiences free access to quality entertainment" say Shalamar Zandamela (OpenView HD Marketing).
The deal follows on from a similar deal in May with Brazil's TV Cultura for new seasons of the show, which is currently broadcast in around 115 channels around the world.
The premiere of Winx Club on the South African television channel ETV follows the debut of Winx Club season seven, the latest season of the hit animated series, on Nickelodeon Africa earlier this month.
