Nickelodeon has commissioned a brand-new sports-themed reality show from the producers behind the megapopular dance series "So You Think You Can Dance" called "Soccer Superstar", which will feature young female soccer players showing off their skills!
As part of "Soccer Superstar", the first reality TV show about girls soccer, Nickelodeon is searching the USA for the next female Soccer Superstar. Hundreds of young girls aged 15-18 will be given trials across the country, with only 15 being invited to attend a two week long soccer intensive training camp in Southern California. At this camp, all NCAA head coaches will be alerted and invited to assess every competitor in the competition. The winner of Nickelodeon's ultimate soccer competition will win the one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase their skills on national television, be seen by colleges across America, a college scholarship, and visit a premiership soccer club in Europe!
"Soccer Superstar" will be hosted by Gold-medal soccer star and Philadelphia resident Heather Mitts, and will feature soccer professionals Angela Hucles, Marcelo Balboa and Dan Metcalfe as judges.
Nickelodeon will be hosting open trails for "Soccer Superstar" at Vista Park in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Wednesday 25th February 2015 and at the Stub Hub Center (Home to LA GALAXY) in Los Angeles, California on Sunday 1st March 2015.
The majority of the filming of "Soccer Superstar" will take place in Spring Break.
Following filming, Nickelodeon USA will premiere and show "Soccer Superstar"in June 2015 during the Women's World Cup, as part of Nicktoons USA's NickSports summer programming highlights.
