To celebrate Nicktoons UK and Ireland premiering and showing brand new episodes from "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" season 3 every Saturday and Sunday at 9:30am, Nickelodeon UK and Tin Man Communications commissioned comedian, actor, television presenter and "King of the Jungle" Joe Pasquale to reimagine original Renaissance masterpieces with a "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" theme, which Joe and Nickelodeon unveiled today, Tuesday 10th February 2015, outside the National Gallery in London's Trafalgar Square!
Nick UK and Joe Pasquale's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" artwork comes after a recent study by Nickelodeon UK revealed while we might think of ourselves as cultured, Londoners don't know all that much about art. Despite the wealth of free art galleries in London, one in 10 men think Delacroix is a fashion brand and nearly a fifth of women think Botticelli is an Italian opera singer. The study also found more people know Donatello as a Ninja turtle than as a sculptor and 5 per cent of Londoners think the 16th century Italian painter Caravaggio is a type of frothy coffee.
In a interview with London Live's Luke Blackall at the National Gallery, Joe Pasquale talks about how "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" fans are being taught about art just by watching Nickelodeon's hit animated series, about about how his mentor Bob Monkhouse introduced him to Henri Matisse. London Live also does some Vox Pops with the public to see how much they know about art!:
