Nickelodeon UK has announced in the following Press Release the very exciting news to celebrate Peppa Pig's 10th birthday, Nickelodeon UK's preschool channel, Nick Jr. UK and Ireland, has today, Monday 2nd June 2014, launched a brand-new campaign to mark a decade of "Peppa Pig" on the channel!
"Peppa Pig's Oinkestra" will allow kids and parents to actively participate in the celebrations and will be supported across Nick Jr.'s on-air, online and social channels.
The campaign kicks-off with a launch promo produced in-house by Nickelodeon's creative team. The live-action spot sees a children's choir oink along to the much-loved "Peppa Pig" theme tune, "An Oink Overture In P Minor" written by Daddy Pig, as a call to action for parents to submit short videos of their children oinking online at Nick Jr. UK's official "Peppa Pig's Oinkestra" website, nickjr.co.uk/oink, or through Nick Jr. UK's official Facebook profile page, Facebook.com/NickJrUK. All entries will receive a special free "Peppa Pig"online activity pack.
The second phase of the campaign will see promotional spots and bumpers created from a selection of the submitted 'oink videos'. Set to feature children across the UK, the promotional spots and bumpers will air in the run up to a celebratory "Oink-a-thon" of Peppa's Top 20 episodes, on the Nick Jr. broadcast anniversary on the weekend of Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th July 2014.
As one of the commissioning broadcasters, Nick Jr. has aired the hit animated preschool series "Peppa Pig" since July 2004 and the show has reached millions of children across the Nick Jr. network*. The success of the programme was cemented in October 2013, when Nick Jr. 2 became the dedicated Peppa channel - Nick Jr. Peppa - for two months.
Additionally, Astley Baker Davies is currently in production on a brand-new 15 minute episode, a anniversary broadcast special, which is scheduled to air on Nick Jr. UK from November 2014.
