The animation news website Animation World Network (AWN) is reporting the very exciting Nickelodeon News in the following article that Nickelodeon Studios has teamed up with the Fullerton Art Department at California State University to mount an special exhibition of artwork and video celebrating Nickelodeon's hit original animated series (Nicktoon) "Sanjay and Craig"!
Running from Saturday 12th April to Friday 20th June 2014, the opening reception for the exhibit will be held at CSU Fullerton's Pollak Library in the Atrium Gallery on Saturday 12th April 2014, from 5-7 p.m. Students and faculty of the CSU Fullerton Entertainment Art/Animation & Illustration programs will gather to celebrate the creative and voice talent for the hit Nickelodeon Animation Studio series "Sanjay and Craig".
Curated by renowned art historians Sanjay and Craig, the exhibition is the first to focus exclusively on art created for, and inspired by, the Nickelodeon television series "Sanjay and Craig". The exhibition traces the series from its punk-infused creation in San Francisco -- where the dude-snake duo was first drawn and Craig uttered the immortal words, "Dude, what's up?" -- to its present state as an artist-inspired, storyboard-driven show that chronicles the absurd wonders of being a kid. The collection explores profound themes of best friendship, bodily functions, B-grade celebrity worship, and the basic human need for chicken wings.
For this retrospective, Sanjay and Craig have brought together a comprehensive collection of production art that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the world of television animation. The series art includes original character sketches, layouts, backgrounds, title cards, storyboards and animatic video. In addition, the curators have commissioned original art for the exhibition, from paintings, sculpture, and a one-of-a-kind collection of Fart Jars.
