Nickelodeon UK Slimes Tennis Superstar Andy Murray As He Receives Honorary Kids' Choice Award

To help make the 2014 Kids' Choice Awards the biggest and slimiest ever, Nickelodeon UK has slimed British tennis champion Andy Murray as the sportsman accepted a prestigious Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Award for UK History Maker! Congratulations, Andy!!

UK Awards host Jordan Banjo surprised Murray at a press conference at the Sony Open at Key Biscayne in Florida to present him with the accolade in acknowledgement of an outstanding year and for being an inspiration to kids across the UK. Viewers can watch Murray get slimed and accepting his Orange Blimp, the highest honours Nickelodeon can bestow, on Sunday 30th March 2014 at 5:00pm on Nickelodeon UK & Ireland and Nickelodeon HD UK!

Nickelodeon created the UK History Maker Award especially for Andy Murray after 2013 saw him become the first British male in 77 years to win Wimbledon. Murray also triumphed at the 2013 Miami Masters and completed a year of sporting glory by winning the 2013 BBC Sports Personality of the Year. Murray's previous sporting highlights include success at the 2012 London Olympics when he won gold in the men's tennis singles and silver in the mixed doubles.

"I feel incredibly privileged to receive Nickelodeon's UK History Maker Kids' Choice Award at this year's KCAs. Getting slimed is definitely the most outrageous award acceptance I've ever done, it was pretty good fun," said Andy Murray. "The support I received from a young age has been integral to my career and I hope this award will encourage kids across the UK and beyond to pursue their own aspirations."

Kids from all over the globe have been voting at kca2014.com and on Twitter for their favourite films, songs, sport and television stars and it will be down to host Mark Wahlberg and a roster of special guests including Chris Evans, Lea Michele and Kaley Cuoco to announce the winners at the 27th Annual Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards. UK viewers can watch the show on Sunday 30th March 2014 from 5:00pm on Nickelodeon, where UK hosts, Diversity's Jordan Banjo and Perri Kiely will be getting all of the behind-the-scenes action and Orange Carpet gossip.

The 2014 Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards will be seen in more than 375 million households around the world and will be aired in more than 25 languages. Within hours of airing live in the United States and Canada, the show will roll out internationally, providing kids around the world the opportunity to tune into their local Nickelodeon channel to enjoy the show faster than ever.
