Could Big Time Rush Be on the Verge of a Big Time Comeback?

Could Big Time Rush be making a comeback? The band's official Twitter account has updated to using a red layout, whilst each member of Big Time Rush - Kendall Schmidt, Carlos PenaVega, James Maslow and Logan Henderson - also updating their Instagram avatars to a solid red circle. The news follows reports that the band recently recorded new songs, including "Echoes", "How You Like Me Now", "Stars Align" and "Something Bout Your Love".

None of the members have yet commented on the meaning of the red profile photos, but they have in the past expressed interest in a formal reunion.

On social media, Rushers theorized that a new single was coming, while others hoped for a reunion tour or concert special.

The Los Angeles–based boy band was formed in 2009 and starred in a Nickelodeon series, also called Big Time Rush, until 2013. The group released three albums and staged their final tour in 2014.

In Big Time Rush, four best friends from Minnesota trade in their hockey sticks and high-school life for the opportunity of a lifetime: pursue pop music stardom in Los Angeles as a boy band. Discovered as a solo singer, Kendall has no interest in leaving his Midwest life behind, so he agrees to take part in "pop group" training in exchange for the record company allowing his three buddies -- James, Logan and Carlos -- a chance to make it with him as a group. They live in a swanky housing development, but the boys soon find life in Hollywood is not all about the parties and girls, and if they are to make it in the big time, it will only come from hard work, dedication -- and the support of one another.

Over the course of its four-season run, the actors’ lives mimicked that of their onscreen characters. Both on- and off-screen, multiple Big Time Rush albums were released, sold-out tours were embarked on, and millions of fans, also known as Rushers, were made.

The news follows Kendall, James, Logan and Carlos hosting a series of virtual reunions during the COVID-19 pandemic, which included releasing new renditions of two of their hit songs, "Worldwide" and "Beautiful Christmas" - and it's speculated that the boys will be treating fans to new music later this year.

Earlier this year, Maslow, 30, admitted that the guys talked more in 2020 than they had in a while. “This last year, we’ve definitely been in touch more than previous years and wanted to do several things just to bring some levity and some ‘stay positive’ nostalgia to our fans in such trying times,” he told Smashing Interviews in January. “The reaction’s been pretty fantastic. So what that means, I’m not certain. I think we need to get past [COVID-19] before any of us are touring individually or collectively. But something may be on the table. We’ll see how things turn out this year.”

Big Time Rush is available to stream on Paramount+ and Netflix.

'The Patrick Star Show' Is Influenced by Variety Shows of the 60s & 70s

The Patrick Star Show features a young adult Patrick hosting his own variety show and it draws inspiration from variety shows of the '60s and '70s.


SpongeBob SquarePants spinoff series The Patrick Star Show draws inspiration from variety shows from the '60s and '70s.

SpongeBob SquarePants is the longest-running and most widely-distributed Nickelodeon cartoon to date. The series follows SpongeBob SquarePants, an overly optimistic and enthusiastic sponge who famously lives in a pineapple under the sea. He works at the Krusty Krab alongside grumpy cashier Squidward and his money-hungry boss Mr. Krabs. SpongeBob's closest friends are the dim-witted Patrick and ferocious Texan squirrel, Sandy.

SpongeBob has recently branched out into numerous spinoff series and movies. Kamp Koral, a prequel about SpongeBob's summer camp days, premiered earlier this year on Paramount+. A movie starring Sandy Cheeks is also potentially in the works. Now, Patrick has gotten his own spinoff series titled The Patrick Star Show. Viewers will get to see SpongeBob's lovable bestie in the days before he lived along under a rock. Patrick's family are introduced, helping to understand how Patrick ended up the way he is. In addition to Patrick's family, SpongeBob fans will get to meet some of Squidward's family.

Emmanuel Gonzalez of LRM Online spoke with Cree Summer (Rugrats), Tom Wilson (SpongeBob SquarePants), and Dana Snyder (The Penguins of Madagascar, The Thundermans, Welcome to the Wayne), who play Patrick Star's mom, dad and grandpa, respectively. When asked to explain what viewers can expect from this extended view of Patrick's life, Summer hinted that viewers are in for a wild ride. Not only will viewers get to see Patrick as a teenager, but will see him running his own variety show. For Patrick's variety show, the creative team drew inspiration from variety shows at their peak in the '60s and '70s. Summer claimed Patrick's variety shows, like those from the past, will be "far out" in the sense that they'll stretch the boundaries of reality with the help of Patrick's zany family.

“The show tracks and follows all of Patrick’s wildest dreams and imagination, heavily influenced by variety shows and sitcoms from the ‘60s and ‘70s. And [it's] really far out because…it’s not your traditional narrative. With a kind of fractured foundation, we can go anywhere. We could be in space. We can travel to different points of history.”

Opposed to sketches from present-day SNL that are more grounded in reality, The Patrick Star Show will embrace the over-the-top antics of past variety shows like The Carol Burnett Show, The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour, The Captain and Tenille and many more. The Patrick Star Show itself has a similar concept to The Brady Bunch Hour in the sense that the characters from a pre-existing TV show get their own variety show. Viewers have already seen some of these wacky moments play out in the Patrick Star Show trailer. In one particular instance, the show seemingly takes inspiration from Monty Python in one snippet where Patrick is dressed in Viking garb and another as Patrick is shot into space.

The premise of Patrick hosting a variety show allows the creative team to take a more linear approach than with SpongeBob SquarePants. While it may not specialize in the same sense of humor as the original series, The Patrick Star Show needed to heighten itself in order to stand out. The series seemingly builds off the original characters and takes it to a new level of zaniness. For viewers who want to catch the hilarity, The Patrick Star Show just premiered on July 9 and will continue to air weekly on Fridays.

GameMill Entertainment Announces 'Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl'

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, a brand new fighting game featuring characters from SpongeBob SquarePants, The Loud House, Rugrats, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Ren & Stimpy Show, and more is set to be released later this year, IGN has revealed!


The brawler – which looks to be similar to Super Smash Bros. in style – will come to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in Fall 2021. It's being developed by Ludosity and Fair Play Labs, and published by GameMill Entertainment. GameMill has previously partnered with Nickelodeon to release Nickelodeon Kart Racers and Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix.

All-Star Brawl will also feature 20 levels based on Nickelodeon shows (including Jellyfish Fields from SpongeBob SquarePants, and the Technodrome from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and will include single player and multiplayer modes, with local and online support for up to four players. You'll also be able to unlock new moves for every fighter, as well as earn bonus content for an in-game gallery.

Nickelodeon to Host 'Mega Music Fest' Weekend, July 16-18

Get set for the Nickelodeon Mega Music Fest - a whole weekend of the most musical premieres ever, headlining on your TV over Friday, July 16 - Sunday, July 18 as part of Nick x Summer!


Not much is currently known about Nickelodeon's Mega Music Fest, however, from the promo, below, fans can expect to see brand new episodes of The Casagrandes, The Patrick Star Show, Danger Force and Tyler Perry's Young Dylan, Nickelodeon's Unfiltered, Santiago Of The Seas and Baby Shark's Big Show!, plus Full VIP Access to Nickelodeon's newest star, That Girl Lay Lay!

Nickelodeon will release the Mega Music Fest Album on July 16. The 10-track album will be available on all major streaming platforms, and will include tunes from other shows, including the Middlemost Post theme song will be included on The Loud House, Tyler Perry's Young Dylan, The Casagrandes, Side Hustle and more.

Nickelodeon GSA to Air 'Kamp Koral' Sneak Peek in July; To Fully Premiere 'SpongeBob' Spin-Off in Autumn 2021

Nickelodeon Germany (Deutschland), Switzerland (Schweiz) and Austria (Österreich) will be premiering Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years in Germany (Deutschland), Switzerland (Schweiz) and Austria (Österreich) later this year as part of their autumn programming highlights, however, Nick GSA will be treating viewers to a super sneak peek of the brand new spin-off from the network's iconic animated series SpongeBob SquarePants this summer by airing the first six episodes weekdays at 17:20 Uhr between Monday 19th - Friday 23rd July 2021!


Additionally, fans can enjoy more brand new episodes of SpongeBob Schwammkopf season 12 on Nick GSA (the German airings will mark their FTA debuts)!

Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years is the first-ever SpongeBob SquarePants spinoff. The CG-animated prequel series follows 10-year-old SpongeBob SquarePants and his pals during summer sleepaway camp where they spend their time building underwater campfires, catching wild jellyfish and swimming in Lake Yuckymuck at the craziest camp in the kelp forest, Kamp Koral. Season one will have 26 episodes.

The U.S.-English dub of Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years features Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy) and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton) reprising their iconic roles. Carlos Alazraqui (Rocko's Modern Life, The Casagrandes) and Kate Higgins (Blaze and the Monster Machines) join as new characters Nobby and Narlene, narwhal siblings who live in the woods surrounding the camp.

Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years made its world premiere on Paramount+ in the U.S., Latin America and Brazil in March 2021.

Marc Ceccarelli (SpongeBob SquarePants), Vincent Waller (SpongeBob SquarePants) and Jennie Monica (SpongeBob SquarePants) are co-executive producers of the series. Production of KAMP KORAL: SPONGEBOB’S UNDER YEARS is overseen by Kelley Gardner, Vice President, Current Series Animation, Nickelodeon. The series is produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, Calif.

In addition to Kamp Koral, Nickelodeon is working on a second SpongeBob spin-off, The Patrick Star Show (Die Patrick Star Show), set to premiere on Nickelodeon USA this July.

Playmates will launch its new Star Trek toy line in 2022


Playmates Toys and ViacomCBS Consumer Products today announced that ViacomCBS has awarded the global toy company with the licensing rights for action figures, vehicles and ships, role play and other toy categories for all Star Trek properties. Playmates will launch its new Star Trek toy line in 2022, following Star Trek’s entry into kids’ content with the premiere of Star Trek: Prodigy, the first Star Trek series aimed at younger audiences.

Among the qualities Playmates will bring to the Star Trek Universe are its attention to brand detail, authentic portrait sculpting, and new product innovations it plans to introduce to its forthcoming Star Trek collections. Fans can look forward to a new lineup of action figures and accessories from Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Star Trek: Picard, other Star Trek series throughout the universe coming soon, and future selections from the expansive Star Trek Universe of series and motion pictures, including the Paramount+ CG-animated series Star Trek: Prodigy produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio and CBS Studios. Details on forthcoming product lines from Playmates will be announced at a future date.

Tony Award-winner Billy Porter (Kinky Boots) joins the cast of Nickelodeon’s original animated series Middlemost Post as the Recycle King in an all-new episode premiering Friday, July 16, at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT). Porter guest stars as the eccentric king of a recycling center who uses the gift of song to teach others that everything has its place in a world of waste.


In ”BURT! The Musical,” Angus accidentally throws away Parker’s friend, Burt, who is made from old boxes and recyclable goods. The two venture away from their everyday tasks to visit Greenwood’s Recycle King (Porter) in hopes of finding their lost friend. However, the musically inclined King does not want to give up Burt, so the duo must come up with an elaborate plan to steal him back.


Middlemost Post follows a former rain cloud, a brawny mailman and their magical pet walrus as they deliver packages to the unusual inhabitants of Mount Middlemost. Produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio, new episodes will continue to debut Friday nights on Nickelodeon and premiere internationally in the fall.


The Middlemost Post voice cast includes Becky Robinson (Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts) as Parker J. Cloud, an exuberant, relentlessly kind, overly eager, and most of all, pliable cloud who’s desire is to spread cheer; John DiMaggio (Futurama) as Angus Roy Shackelton, Parker’s boss and proprietor of the Middlemost Post; Kiren (Raising Hope) as Lily, Parker’s best friend and master inventor; Colton Dunn (Superstore) as Mayor Peeve, the petty Mayor of the city of Somewhere locked in a petty, one-sided feud with Angus; and Johnny Pemberton (In the Loop) as Ryan, Mayor Peeve’s loyal assistant.


Middlemost Post is created and co-executive produced by John Trabbic III. Dave Johnson serves as co-executive producer and story editor for Middlemost Post, with production overseen by Kelley Gardner, Vice President, Current Series, Animation, Nickelodeon.

Nickelodeon Latin America to Host 'PAW Patrol Live! At Home' Streaming Event

Nickelodeon Latin America (Latinoamérica) is bringing the stage show experience home with Paw Patrol en Vacaciones, an interactive streaming event that will have families singing, dancing and cheering along with the beloved PAW Patrol as they once again save the day.


Similar to Nickelodeon USA's PAW Patrol Live! At Home streaming event earlier this year (now available to stream on Paramount+ in the U.S.), Paw Patrol en Vacaciones will feature the PAW Patrol Live! show "Race to the Rescue".

Paw Patrol en Vacaciones will stream daily four times a day between July 24-August 1, for a total of 36 performances. Performance times will be 10am, 12pm, 3pm and 5pm (Arg).

Based on PAW Patrol, the top-rated animated preschool series produced by Spin Master Entertainment, the action-packed, music-filled productions PAW Patrol Live! "Race to the Rescue" and PAW Patrol Live!"The Great Pirate Adventure," bring the beloved characters from the series to life off-screen.

Spin Master‘s PAW Patrol: The Movie toy collection hits shelves on August 1, with presale beginning July 15.

The line features over 30 products spanning the categories of vehicles, playsets, figures, and plush.

Spin Master Entertainment created the PAW Patrol series and, along with Nickelodeon Movies, produced the movie, which comes out August 20. Paramount Pictures is the distributor. Click here to watch the trailer.

The PAW Patrol movie toy collection features heightened attention to detail, including stylized character uniforms as well as upgraded grills, rims, and enhanced silhouettes on the vehicles — which include Chase’s Transforming City Cruiser, Marshall’s Transforming City Fire Truck, and more transforming vehicles.

Transformations and mechanisms that kids see in the movie will be reflected in toys like the True Metal Total City Rescue Set and the Ultimate City Tower, the PAW Patrol’s tallest tower yet, standing at three feet tall, made to match the pups’ big adventure.

The PAW Patrol is on a roll!  When their biggest rival, Humdinger, becomes Mayor of nearby Adventure City and starts wreaking havoc, Ryder and everyone's favourite heroic pups kick into high gear to face the challenge head on.  While one pup must face his past in Adventure City, the team finds help from a new ally, the savvy dachshund Liberty.  Together, armed with exciting new gadgets and gear, the PAW Patrol fights to save the citizens of Adventure City! Joining the PAW Patrol in their thrilling first big screen adventure are members from the original series' cast along with Iain Armitage, Marsai Martin, Yara Shahidi, Kim Kardashian West, Randall Park, Dax Shepard, with Tyler Perry and Jimmy Kimmel and introducing Will Brisbin.

Adam Levine, front man of multi-Grammy® Award-winning band, Maroon 5, will perform an original song. Titled "Good Mood", the new original song was written by Shellback, Savan Kotecha, Oscar Görres and Adam Levine; produced by Shellback from MXM Productions and Oscar Görres for Wolf Cousins Productions; executive produced by Savan Kotecha and performed by Adam Levine. Levine, who appears courtesy of Interscope Records, lends his characteristic falsetto to the upbeat and light-hearted track.
