Update (12/3) -The SpongeBob Musical is now available for licensing through Concord Theatricals! The production is available for schools, colleges, universities, and other non-professional theatres.

Adapted from the iconic Nickelodeon series SpongeBob SquarePants, the stakes are higher than ever in the staged production, as SpongeBob and all of Bikini Bottom face the total annihilation of their undersea world. Chaos erupts. Lives hang in the balance. And just when all hope seems lost, a most unexpected hero rises up and takes center stage.

The Broadway production of The SpongeBob Musical was hailed by The New York Times as “brilliant” and “effervescent candy-for-the-spirit” by New York Magazine. The show earned its place on 2017’s “Best of Broadway” lists including Broadway.com, BuzzFeed, Chicago Tribune, The Daily Beast, Deadline, ET Online, Forbes, Time Out New York and Variety. The SpongeBob Musical was named Best Musical by the Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle and earned 12 Tony Award nominations – the most nominated musical of the 2017-2018 theatre season – winning for Best Scenic Design of a Musical (David Zinn).

The SpongeBob Musical is based on the beloved animated series created by Stephen Hillenburg and features a book by Kyle Jarrow, with original songs by Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alexander Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, Lady Antebellum, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants and T.I., and songs by David Bowie, Tom Kenny and Andy Paley. Additional lyrics are by Jonathan Coulton, with additional music by Tom Kitt. The musical production was conceived by Tina Landau.

The SpongeBob Musical: Live On Stage! was broadcast in December 2019 across Nickelodeon platforms and featured much of the original Broadway company reprising their performances, including Tony nominee Ethan Slater as the high-energy title sponge, Tony nominee Gavin Lee as Squidward Q. Tentacles, Danny Skinner as Patrick Star, Brian Ray Norris as Eugene Krabs, and Wesley Taylor as Sheldon Plankton. The TV event is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

The Nickelodeon Multiplatform Campaign is designed to empower and shed a light on local kids with astonishing talent, inspiring young viewers to build something beautiful with their passions

Lamia, the youngest athlete in the history of the UAE and DJ Michelle, the youngest professional female DJ and turntablist in the world, tell their unique stories!


United Arab Emirates: Nickelodeon presents its “Extraordinary Me” campaign in the UAE, a live-action interstitial series highlighting kids who are inspired by what they love doing and what they do extraordinarily successfully. 9-year-old Lamia, an Emirati Rhythmic Gymnast and DJ Michelle, a professional female DJ are included as the two talents coming from the UAE with an inspiring life story. The pieces will go live from Friday, November 27th, 2020 on Nickelodeon, exclusively available on OSN across the Middle East. The series will also be available on the Nickelodeon website ( http://en.nickelodeonarabia.com/), and on Nickelodeon Arabia's YouTube channel. With the objective to support and promote young talents, the Nickelodeon international campaign sheds a light on kids’ extraordinary passions as well as their determination in pursuing their goals. The series will kick start with a two-minute video from the local talents, introducing themselves while addressing the audience and inviting them for a “behind the scene” tour of the shoot and set.


The campaign will feature eight children from all over the world, each with their unique story which be told by the voice of the protagonists, the kids, in their own language. Including two UAE-based talents with inspiring life stories, the video´s voice over will inspire non-English speaking children to feel authentic to a local audience.

9-year-old, she is the only Emirati Rhythmic Gymnast and the youngest athlete in the history of the UAE. She started rhythmic gymnastics training at the age of 5 and won her first medal 6 months later at the 1st international junior championship in Dubai. Lamia has participated in 6 international camps & master classes with Olympic champions in rhythmic gymnastics. She won the “Achievement of the year” award at the Dubai Youth Olympics School in 2018.

She is the youngest professional female DJ and turntablist in the world. Michelle grew up watching her father’s spinning skills and listening to good music and as a result, developed an innate devotion to music which stemmed during her toddler years and developed to become a true profession. She is the youngest Brand Ambassador for Numark and Mackie – professional DJ and sound equipment brands. Recently she also started to produce beats and now she is working on her first single as well as her first book, and both of which are going to be motivational and inspiring.

Through the campaign, Nickelodeon is providing a platform to extremely gifted children who wish to inspire their young viewers and lead them to build something beautiful with their passions. Whether it’s playing an instrument, excelling at a sport, helping the environment, or inventing the next big thing, this series will focus on everyday kids doing extraordinary things.

Dubai: Lamia Tariq Farsi, the UAE’s pride as the youngest rhythmic gymnastic champion, is keen to inspire the next generation of youngsters after being chosen for Nickelodeon’s ‘Extraordinary Me’ campaign in the UAE.

At just nine years, Lamia has shone in the world of rhythmic gymnastics with international medals in France, Uzbekistan and Germany, to mention a few.

Nickelodeon’s latest ‘Extraordinary Me’ campaign fronted by the popular television channel for kids sees Lamia and DJ Michelle — the youngest professional female DJ — tell their unique stories while inspiring young viewers to build something beautiful with their passions.

“It’s a matter of pride and immense pleasure for me to be chosen for such a campaign. Not only do I want to show my sport of rhythmic gymnastics to the world, but I want to motivate everyone, especially young children to take up to some sort of sporting activity,” Lamia told Gulf News.

“I am equally proud to be an Emirati practicing this sport while breaking a lot of barriers. I want to inspire children to be healthy especially during these COVID times by eating better and staying healthy by taking up some sort of sporting activity. From my own experience, it is very important for kids to be sporty from a young age.”

Nickelodeon’s international campaign sheds light on kids’ extraordinary passions as well as their determination in pursuing their goals. The campaign will feature eight children from across the world, as each relates his or her own unique story in their own language.

A product at the Dubai Youth Olympic School of Rhythmic Gymnastics, Lamia started gymnastics when she was just five years old under the tutelage of former Olympic champion Ksenia Dzhalaganiya.

Her first gold medal came as a six-year-old at the inaugural Dubai International Junior Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships held at the Al Habtoor Indoor Complex in 2017. After that, Lamia inspired the country with gold medals at the Open GR Azur International in Nice, France and the Emirates Rhythmic Gymnastics Cup and the 2018 Armonia Cup in Thessaloniki.

She also took silver at the 2017 Winter Cup in Leverkusen and a bronze at the prestigious Novogorsk Winter Cup in Moscow at the end of 2018.

Last year, the Emirati athlete became the youngest winner so far of the prestigious Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Award for Creative Sports hosted and organised by the Dubai Sports Council. She celebrated this achievement with another gold medal, this time at the International Rhythmic Gymnastics Youth Cup in Tashkent.

Despite all these accolades, Lamia has stayed true to herself with her sights firmly on representing the UAE at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games. “The medals and awards are just a means to my ultimate goal. These are meant to motivate me to be better and to finally bring glory and honour to my country at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games,” she said. “I hope that one day the UAE will have an association for a new sport like rhythmic gymnastics so that I have the opportunity to represent my country and fly my flag high.”

Lamia Tariq Malallah harbours hopes of taking part in the Youth Olympic Games 2026.

Getting noticed for her extraordinary talent, the UAE’s little wonder and well- known rhythmic gymnast, Lamia Tariq Malallah, was launched in a global campaign called "Extraordinary Me," produced by Nickelodeon Kids channel.

Nickelodeon started the ‘Extraordinary Me’ campaign to recognise youth talents globally while giving them a platform to showcase their skills and show how they lead their daily lives. The objective behind the channel’s campaign is to inspire and motivate more children to pursue their dreams and talents.

The short film focuses on Lamia’s everyday life along with her daily training sessions at her training centre, Dubai Youth Olympic School, her hobbies and family life. The short film released on Friday can be viewed on Nickelodeon HD channel that is exclusively available on OSN across the Middle East region. The series will also be available on the Nickelodeon website and on Nickelodeon Arabia's YouTube channel.


“I am thrilled to be a part of the ‘Extraordinary Me’ campaign for Nickelodeon as it gives me the ability to reach out to a worldwide audience of children who may be inspired by my story and follow their dreams.

“This short film is about my daily life, my dedication, my hard work, and my wanting to reach the goal of being the first UAE National to compete in gymnastics in the Youth Olympics in 2026, and even if one child is motivated by watching my story then I know that I have made a difference to the world,” Lamia added. The Emirati gymnast harbours hopes of taking part in Youth Olympic Games 2026, which was due to be held in Senegal in 2022 and has been postponed for four years.

Lamia, whose first gold medal came at the age of six when she won the inaugural Dubai International Junior Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in 2017, says she is focused fully on her goal to win gold at the Youth Olympic Games.

This campaign will further embellish Lamia’s standing worldwide as an athlete from the UAE to reckon with, as people are not much familiar with female athletes from the Arab world.

Even the spread of the coronavirus pandemic failed to dampen her spirits and even when the UAE was under complete lockdown for more than three months, she continued training at her home majlis. “This year has not been easy for most people all over the world, and even more so for kids as their lives have changed drastically, but if you have a strong goal in your life like mine is to compete in the Youth Olympics, it will give you a purpose to be stronger and work harder at what you want to be,” she said.

Despite the difficult times, Lamia continued training through online guidance from accomplished 2002 World Champion Ksenia Dzhalaganiya of Dubai Youth Olympic School of Rhythmic Gymnastics.
At an age of five where children are mostly attracted towards electronic games and gadgets, Lamia decided to take up rhythmic gymnastics. Her father, Tariq Ali Abdullah Malallah, and mother, Malak Tariq Alfarsi, stood like a solid rock in support of their kid’s decision. They helped her throughout to pursue the sport. Lamia has not disappointed them and has already won six international gold medals, besides dominating local championships.


She has worked tirelessly all these years without the normalcy of a childhood as her training hall is all that she sees every day after the school.

The youngest recipient of the coveted Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award which  she won in 2019, Lamia also bagged top honours at the International Rhythmic Gymnastics Youth Cup held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, last year.

The nine-year-old is considered as a sports ambassador for the youth in UAE as she pursues gymnastics professionally by competing on international platforms and attending training camps worldwide during her school breaks.

Lamia, who is a student of the International School of Choueifat in Dubai, also promotes healthy lifestyle and nutritional eating habits on her social media accounts. She also dreams of a future where more Emirati girls join the sport and has already chosen a coaching profession to pursue to train and teach more children to be fit.

Lamia has also won gold medals at the 2017 Open GR Azur International in Nice, France, and at the 2018 Armonia Cup.

ViacomCBS Releases First Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report


NEW YORK, NY--Dec. 02, 2020--ViacomCBS (NASDAQ: VIAC, VIACA) today released its first Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, Action: ESG at ViacomCBS, highlighting how the company is addressing the ESG impacts that are most important to its business and stakeholders.

The report, released nearly one year after the merger of Viacom and CBS in December 2019, focuses on data through 2019 and the company’s global ESG priorities to date in three core areas: On-screen Content and Social Impact, Workforce and Culture and Sustainable Production and Operations. The report also provides select data and details on ViacomCBS’ efforts thus far in 2020, including the company’s strong response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and events of racial injustice in the United States.

“ViacomCBS is focused on how we use the power of our platforms as content creators to meaningfully impact the issues that matter to our employees, audiences, partners, communities and investors," said Bob Bakish, President and CEO of ViacomCBS. “As we all continue to cope with the ongoing impact of COVID-19, as well as a racial reckoning in the US, we recognize and embrace our unique role as a global content powerhouse that shapes culture, social attitudes and societal outcomes. We’re committed to the opportunity and responsibility that comes with this reach and are proud to share how our company is taking action in our ESG report.”

The ESG report expands on ViacomCBS’ first materiality assessment, published earlier this year, and is guided by external ESG frameworks, including the Global Reporting Initiative, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board and Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures. It also outlines the company’s alignment with relevant United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including Gender Equality, Decent Work and Economic Growth and Climate Action.

Among the priority areas addressed in this report, actions by ViacomCBS include:

Responding to COVID-19:
  • Committed $100 million to those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, including support for non-staff employees on ViacomCBS productions and other entertainment industry workers through third-party organizations and relief funds.
  • Worked to keep employees and the public safe and at home during the pandemic by leveraging ViacomCBS brands and on-air talent to amplify official health guidance through the #AloneTogether campaign, which consisted of 174,000 television spots, social media posts and other content across company platforms.

On-screen Content and Social Impact:
  • Responded to nationwide protests over victims of racial violence and police killings by donating an additional $5 million to social justice and criminal justice reform organizations, participating in the industry-wide “Blackout Tuesday” day of reflection on June 2 and honoring the death of George Floyd by going dark for eight minutes and 46 seconds on ten networks. The monetary donations build on the company’s standing contributions each year to a range of community organizations.
  • Set several new goals to increase diversity behind the camera, including at least 40% representation of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) in the writers’ rooms of CBS and Showtime Network shows during the 2021-22 programming season.

Workforce and Culture:
  • Expanded company-wide efforts to strengthen ViacomCBS’ diversity and inclusion, including through its commitment to publicly disclose the diversity data of its workforce.
  • Continued to hold its annual Global Inclusion Week, an expansive multi-day experience featuring speakers, immersive sessions and interactive workshops designed to raise awareness and foster conversation about diversity and inclusion, and inspire a sense of engagement and belonging across the company.

Sustainable Production and Operations:
  • Committed to reducing its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in line with the requirements of the Paris Agreement, continuing a declining trend that saw GHG emissions at legacy Viacom drop by 20% from 2014-2018.
  • Increased the number of productions following the Green Production Guide to minimize the environmental impact of filming and derived 10% of the company’s global energy use from renewable sources.

Nickelodeon's hit CG-animated preschool series Blaze and the Monster Machines is racing into its sixth season, premiering Friday, December 18, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon! The season 6 premiere episode is titled "Big Rig to the Rescue!" (#601).


Blaze and the Monster Machines is an interactive show for preschoolers that introduces the worlds of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Viewers join an eight-year-old boy named AJ and his incredible monster truck Blaze on super-sized adventures. AJ and the viewer help Blaze as they explore the physics of how things move, master mathematics and discover how everyday technologies work. Created by Jeff Borkin (Team Umizoomi, Blue's Clues) and Ellen Martin (Bubble Guppies, The Backyardigans), Blaze and the Monster Machines launched in October 2014 as the first preschool show that features a curriculum dedicated to all areas of STEM.

Blaze and the Monster Machines season 6 (20 episodes) will feature the most epic races and rescues yet, including next-level transformations into fire rescue vehicles, big rigs, construction trucks and even a fire-breathing dragon.

ViacomCBS to Launch TeenNick Channel in Hungary and Romania

ViacomCBS Networks Central and Eastern Europe is set to launch a TeenNick channel in Hungary (Magyarország) and România!


A launch date for TeenNick Magyarország has still to be announced, but the channel will replace RTL Spike on the EPG, which will be closing due to low ratings. Launched in December 2016, RTL Spike is completely owned and operated by ViacomCBS, with RTL Group's lending its name to the channel.

Update (4/12) - ViacomCBS will launch TeenNick in Hungary and România on Tuesday 12th January 2021! TeenNick Hungary use a sub-feed from Nickelodeon Teen, the French version of the channel, whilst TeenNick România will use TeenNick Latin America for its feed, so both will feature different schedules. Each channel will be available in each countries local language. Carriage negotiations are still on-going. It's thought that the channels will use different feeds for advertising reasons. Nickelodeon Teen has ad opt-outs, whereas TeenNick Latin American doesn't.

The news comes as ViacomCBS has been expanding Nickelodeon's TeenNick brand globally, including launches in Latin America and Greece. There are also TeenNick channels in Israel, France and the Middle East.

TeenNick is Nickelodeon's brand exclusively for and about teens and tweens that features a distinct perspective that connects its audience to the electricity and possibilities of teendom, anytime and anywhere, with original series and ever-popular favourites. TeenNick is available in more than 71 million households via cable, digital cable and satellite as well as on mobile, VOD and broadband.

TeenNick will join Nickelodeon, Nick Jr. and Nicktoons in the country.

It's currently unknown whether ViacomCBS CEE will roll out TeenNick to other countries within Central and Eastern Europe, such as Romania, Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia.

Az RTL Spike 2016-os debütálása óta rengeteg szériát mutatott be a magyar nézőknek, ám az utóbbi időben leginkább csak árnyéka volt önmagának. Sohasem tudta igazán megtalálni a saját közönségét. A műsorszerkezete napközben többnyire ismétlésekre épült. A premiertartalmaik folyamatosan szorultak egyre jobban vissza az esti órákra. Hiába próbálkoztak különböző sorozatokkal és filmekkel, kiugrást csupán a The Walking Dead világpremierrel érkező epizódjai tudtak okozni. Utolsó újdonságai között az október végén érkező A halottkém új évadja fogja jelenteni. Az elmúlt évek során realityk és nagyobbaknak szánt animációk színesítették a kínálatot. Itt volt látható a Pumpedék vagy a Playback párbaj. Először volt látható A galaxis őrzői animációs széria, a Batman: A rajzfilmsorozatot pedig szintén az RTL Spike-nak köszönhetően láthattuk végig, a hiányzó részek szinkronizálásával. Népszerű sorozatok is bemutatkoztak az elmúlt években: A visszatérők (The 100), Sötét árvák (Black Orphan) vagy az iZombie szintén itt debütáltak magyar nyelven.

A Nickelodeon és alcsatornái – a már sok éve bejáratott kicsiket megcélzó Nick Jr. és a viszonylag meglehetősen újnak számít rajzfilmekre kihegyeződő NickToons – már sok éve dominálják a magyar nézettségi toplistákat. Így feltehetően nem szorul sok magyarázásra, hogy a ViacomCBS miért döntött arról, hogy újrapozicionálják a még 2016-ban, az RTL brandinggel indított csatornájukat. A névvel, és a közhiedelemmel ellentétben a csatorna kezelését teljes egészében a ViacomCBS intézte. Így a váltás nem fog fennakadásokat okozni az üzemeltetőnek. 

Harsányi Gábor, a Viacom közép-kelet-európai vezérigazgatója annyival magyarázta a Spike átalakulását, hogy a csatorna nézettsége nem hozta az elvárt szintet. Pontos információkat nem közöltek a változás időpontjáról. Amint további információk derülnek ki a dátumról és az induló TeenNick műsorainak listájáról, arról beszámolunk majd. A TeenNick a tengeren túlon egész nap a tini és a fiatal felnőtt közönséget célozza meg, az estéket pedig a a NickRewind (korábban: NickSplat) műsorblokkja tölti ki, ahol a csatornához tartozó retro sorozatokból csemegézhetnek a nézők. Ennek a magyar érkezéséről azonban jelenleg nincs semmi információ. A csatornák tematikája változik, azonban a ViacomCBS piacvezető pozíciója továbbra is állandó marad.

Ennyivel azonban nem merülnek ki a változások: A ViacomCBS azonban nem mond le az általános szórakoztató tartalmaikról. A bejáratott Paramount filmcsatornájuk (jelenleg Paramount Channel néven) is átalakuláson megy át. Kiszakad a filmek bezártságából és átveszi a csatornacsalád általános szórakoztató szerepét, melyre az is utalt korábban, hogy a Yellowstone című sorozatot már ott is vetítették. Feltehetően a Spike által korábban elkezdett sorozatok is ide vándorolnak át. A Paramount Network címre átkeresztelődés érdekessége, hogy két évvel ezelőtt Amerikában a ViacomCBS hasonló döntést hozott, azonban ott a zászlóshajónak számító Spike megnevezést vezették ki teljesen, hogy helyet adjanak a Paramount Networknek.

Az RTL Spike-ot működtető ViacomCBS TeenNick néven indít tévécsatornát a kis nézettségű RTL Spike megszűnését követően. További fontos bejelentéseket is tett a médiavállalat regionális vezetője a Big Picture konferencián.

Az RTL Spike csatorna megszűnését Harsányi Gábor, a ViacomCBS Networks International közép-kelet-európai alelnök-vezérigazgatója jelentette be a keddi Big Picture tévés konferencián.

Az RTL Spike mellett az MTV-t, a Nickelodeont, a Paramount Channelt is működtető médiavállalat az RTL Spike helyett TeenNick néven indít új tévécsatornát. Ez, ahogy nevében is utal rá, kifejezetten tiniknek szól és elsősorban vígjátékokat fog sugározni.

A Spike-ot az RTL Magyarországgal együttműködve indították el 2016 decemberében, de a csatorna nem az RTL Magyarországé volt, bár az RTL segítette a reklámidejének értékesítését, illetve hozzájárult az RTL név felhasználásához.

A csatorna megszűnéséhez az vezetett, hogy annak nézettsége kedvezőtlenül alakult az elmúlt időszakban – ismerte el Harsányi Gábor az interneten zajló tévés konferencián.

Az eddig az RTL Spike-on sugárzott népszerűbb műsorokat, mint amilyen például a Cobra is, áthelyezik a Paramount Channelre, amely egyébként felveszi a Paramount Network nevet.

A konferencián az nem hangzott, hogy a változásokra mikor kerül sor pontosan. Elhangzott viszont, hogy a Paramount+ néven indított videótáruk népszerűsége szépen emelkedik, duplájára nőtt rajta a tartalomfogyasztás, és az hamarosan a MindigTV (Antenna Hungária) rendszerén is elérhető lesz.

A Big Picture konferencián tovább bejelentések is elhangzanak, ezekről folyamatosan teszünk közzé híreket.

Krízisállónak bizonyult a televízió

Jelentősen átalakul a ViacomCBS magyarországi portfóliója 2020 végére: kivezetik az RTL Spike-ot, a csatorna legerősebb műsorai a Paramountra költöznek, bevezetik a tinédzsereket célzó Teennick-et is, valamint egyre több háztartásban lesz fogható a Paramount+ streamingszolgáltatás is. Harsányi Gáborral, a ViacomCBS Networks közép-kelet-európai alelnök-vezérigazgatójával ezeken túl nézettségről, a tavaszi reklámszegény helyzetről és a hazai és nemzetközi színtéren egyaránt több díjat is bezsebelő promógyártó csapatról is beszélgettünk.

Az interjú a Kreatív 2020. októberi számában jelent meg először.

Hogyan számoltatok tavasszal, mekkora lesz a reklámbevétel-kiesés egész évre, és ehhez képest hogyan látjátok az őszi-téli szezon foglalásainak fényében?

A világjárvány miatt a televíziózás korábban nem tapasztalt ellentmondásos helyzetbe került. A tévés tartalmak iránti igény felértékelődött, a műsorfogyasztás rég nem látott szintekre emelkedett, de a reklámpiac általános visszaesése miatt mégis bevételkieséssel kell az iparágnak szembenéznie. A kezdeti megtorpanás és a nemzetközi előrejelzések alapján komoly kiesés volt várható. A nyár végére azonban már látszott, hogy egyes hirdetők újra aktívabbakká válnak és a visszaesés némileg enyhébb lesz a vártnál. Ezt persze mindannyian megérezzük, de elmondható, hogy a televízió viszonylag krízisállónak bizonyult.

A megnövekedett tévézés a kisebb csatornák nézettségét is feljebb tornázta, most mégis úgy döntöttetek, hogy megszüntetitek az RTL Spike csatornát. Mi ennek az oka, mi lesz az itt nézhető tartalmakkal?

A megnövekedett figyelem eltérő módon érintette az egyes csatornák nézettségének alakulását. A Paramount Channel idén áprilisban érte el eddig a legtöbb nézőjét, és a részesedését is tovább tudta növelni a harmadik negyedévben. A Comedy Central és a Comedy Central Family egy igen erős nyarat tudhat maga mögött, és a legjobb formájában kezdte az őszi szezont. A gyerekcsatornáink is kimagaslóan teljesítenek, az év során elképesztő mértékben, 32 százalékkal nőtt a részesedésük. 

Az RTL Spike teljesítménye ugyanakkor sajnos jelentős kívánnivalót hagy maga után. Bár egyes sorozatai népszerűek és nézettek, a csatorna összességében nem hozza azt a szintet, amit elvárnánk tőle. Ez az egyik legfőbb oka annak, hogy a korábbi évek ütemes emelkedése után a portfóliónk összesített növekedése megállt. Ugyan a nézettségi részesedésünk magas szinten stabilizálódott és a ViacomCBS az első számú nemzetközi tematikus portfolió Magyarországon, de nem ülhetünk ölbe tett kézzel.

A továbblépést abban látjuk, hogy a Spike-ot kivezetjük a magyar piacról, a jelentős nézői igényre számot tartó sorozatait, mint a Cobra 11, a Yellowstone, a Halottkém vagy a Fargo, a Paramount csatornára helyezzük át. A Paramount tematikája így kibővül és általános szórakoztató csatornaként, Paramount Network márka alatt, még több szórakozást nyújtva és újabb nézőcsoportokat magához vonzva folytatja tovább.

A Viacom és a CBS összeolvadása mennyiben érinti a hazai/régiós tevékenységeteket?

A két önállóan is meghatározó médiacég egyesülésével a világ egyik legnagyobb tartalomgyára és tartalomszolgáltatója jött létre. Jó helyzetben vagyunk ahhoz, hogy a növekvő nézői igényeket a legváltozatosabb módon ki tudjuk szolgálni.Óriási tartalomkönyvtárral és gyártókapacitással rendelkezünk a Paramount Pictures, a ViacomCBS International Studios, a Nickelodeon Studios, a CBS és a Showtime révén. Az elmúlt évben 13 milliárd dollárt fordított a cégcsoport tartalmakra, és jelenleg 140 ezer tévés sorozatepizód valamint 3600 film áll a rendelkezésünkre.

A hagyományos lineáris tévécsatornáink mellett ide tartozik az Egyesült Államokban a legnagyobb és világszerte több régióban is már elérhető, reklámokkal támogatott, ingyenesen nézhető AVOD videóplatform, a Pluto TV, a jövő év elején pedig elindul a CBS All Accest felváltó, az összeolvadt cég legkülönfélébb tartalmaiból hatalmas válogatást nyújtó fizetős streaming szolgáltatás is Paramount+ néven. Ez a helyi adottságoktól függően, fokozatosan jut majd el a világ különböző régióiba. Azon leszünk, hogy ezekből a lehetőségekből Magyarországon is a legjobbat hozzuk ki.

Itthon 2018 végén cikkeztek róla először, hogy a Telekom Moziklub előfizetők számára lesz elérhető a Paramount. Kik számára elérhető ez a szolgáltatás most, és milyen célszámaitok vannak? 

Egyre inkább kiemelt szerepet kap a stratégiánkban, hogy a népszerű tartalmaink minden platformon, többféle eszközön és akár önállóan is elérhetőek legyenek. Ettől kezdve már nem csak a lineáris nézettségeket, hanem az úgynevezett non-lineáris felhasználás alakulását is kiemelt figyelemmel követjük. Ez a portfóliónkhoz hasonló válogatásunk on-demand, lekérhető formában szépen növekszik már 2018 óta. Idén pedig különösen megugrott, hiszen a megtekintett streamek száma már az első 7 hónapban meghaladta a tavalyi egész éves összmennyiséget, tehát több mint 100 százalékos növekedést ért el az előző év azonos időszakához képest. A Magyar Telekom mellett rövid időn belül más nagy szolgáltató kínálatában is megjelenik a Paramount+. Azon dolgozunk, hogy a jövőben még szélesebb körben elérhető legyen.

A Viacom kreatív csapata évek óta nagyon szépen teljesít a promóanyagokkal mind a nemzetközi tévés versenyeken, mind a hazai reklámversenyeken. Mennyire kimondott stratégiai irány, hogy ezekre figyelmet, erőforrást kell fordítani?

Nagy öröm a számunkra, hogy Budapesten olyan kreatív műhely jött létre, amely hihetetlenül egyedi látásmóddal tud világszínvonalon szórakoztató vizuális tartalmakat létrehozni. Minden márka akkor tud igazán élő maradni, és a közönségéhez közel kerülni, ha nemcsak figyelemfelkeltő, hanem szerethető is. Ha egy műsorpromó nem csupán információt közvetít, hanem a közönségnek kifejezetten élményt ad, szívesen megnézik többször, ahelyett, hogy elkapcsolnának, ráadásul a márkát is még tovább erősíti, annak óriási hozadéka van. Erre mindig is nagy hangsúlyt fordítottunk és ez továbbra is a középpontban lesz nálunk. A kreatívjaink továbbra is dübörögnek, és nemcsak idehaza: nemrég ismét négy Promax Europe Awardsot hoztak haza.

A Comedy Centralnál tavaly jelentősen visszavettetek a saját gyártásra fordítható büdzséből, most viszont stand-up vonalon megint erősítetek. Ezen kívül lesz más olyan saját tartalom, más csatornáitokat is beleértve, amire erőforrást allokáltok?

A stand-up régóta az egyik fő erőssége a Comedynek, ezt a vonalat természetesen továbbra is szeretnénk megőrizni. A Comedy Central emellett évről évre kísérletezik egy sor más műfajjal is, szkeccsekkel, rövid komikus epizódokkal, vagy éppen nagyívű kosztümös sorozattal, mint amilyen a Tömény Történelem volt. A kísérlet jellegénél fogva ezek közül nem mindegyik tudott üzletileg is kimagaslóan sikeres lenni. A járvány ideje alatt „karantén” típusú és kifejezett online fogyasztásra szánt sorozatokat is készítettünk, és jövőben is fogunk kísérletezni, illetve koprodukciós lehetőségeket keresni.

A magyarországi saját gyártást azután csavarta le a központ, hogy Villám Géza nagy hírveréssel elindított műsora rövid úton lekerült a képernyőről. Volt direkt összefüggés a kettő között? Mi okozta végül ennek a műsornak a megszüntetését?

A Heti Dörgés Villám Gézával szintén egy merész, újító kísérlet volt, ami nagy zajjal járt, tovább erősítette a márka imázsát, de sajnos nem hozta azt a magas nézettségi szintet, amit elvártunk tőle. Ez volt az egyszerű oka annak, hogy lekerült a képernyőről. Fontos, hogy a saját gyártások izgalmassá és relevánssá tegyék a márkát, de üzletileg is meg kell állniuk a helyüket.

A gyerekeknek szóló csatornák terén a ViacomCBS-nek van talán a legerősebb portfóliója. Hogyan álltok közönségarány terén?

A Nickelodon csatornák piacvezető szerepe megkérdőjelezhetetlen. Az elmúlt 5 évben, miközben a többi gyerekcsatorna fokozatosan veszített a részesedéséből, a Nick-portfólió folyamatosan tovább bővült. A család legutóbbi tagja, a NickToons az eltelt másfél év alatt minden versenytársát megelőzve majdnem olyan erőssé vált már, mint a NickJr. Így ma már a gyerekcsatornák nézettségi részesedésének a 60 százalékát ez a három (a hazai piacon legnagyobb) csatorna adja, és az arány folyamatosan nő. Ráadásul minden alkalommal úgy tudtunk újabb gyerekcsatornát indítani, hogy legfeljebb csak kismértékű saját kannibalizációval találkoztunk, a nézettség túlnyomó többségét mindig a versenytársaktól vettük el. Ezek a kedvező tapasztalatok azt súgják nekünk, hogy még mindig van igény újabb Nickelodeon-csatorna iránt. Ezért hamarosan a magyar piacra is bevezetjük a Teennick márkát, amely kifejezetten a tinédzsereket fogja szórakoztatni élőszereplős comedy és dramedy tartalmakkal. Ezt a megszűnő Spike helyén fogjuk elindítani, és ezzel válik teljessé a portfóliónk mostani átrendezése.

Minden, amit a TeenNickről tudni érdemes

A ViacomCBS Networks International a következő hetekben átalakítja hazai portfólióját, mely egy új csatorna érkezését és egy távozását jelenti.

Alig néhány héttel ezelőtt derült ki a sajtó, és ezáltal a nagyközönség számára, hogy az idei tél nagy változásokat hoz a viacomCBS számára. Kezdésként december 17-én a Paramount Channel nevet, és ettől a naptól kezdve Paramount Network néven kell keresni. Innentől sorozatok is a kínálatot képzik. Majd januárban megszűnik az RTL Spike sorozatcsatorna, amit egy új adó vált. Érkezik ugyanis kicsiny hazánkba a TeenNick tiniket megcélzó ifjúsági csatorna. Erről kérdeztük a vállalatot, mit érdemes tudni róla.

A TeenNick célközönsége a 12-16 éves korosztály. A TeenNick a ViacomCBS által működtetett népszerű Nickelodeon csatornacsalád legújabb tagja. Az elsősorban 12-16 éves tiniknek szóló új csatorna a Nickelodeon, a Nick Jr. és a NickToons programkínálatát tökéletesen kiegészítve a márka legjobb, felhőtlenül szórakoztató élőszereplős vígjáték- és tini drámasorozataival köti le a tinédzsereket. A TeenNick programja kifejezetten támogatja a testvérekkel illetve szülőkkel közös tévénézést.

Mindezt igen hamar, már 2021. január 12-étől lehet élvezni. Utánajártunk, hogy ettől a naptól automatikusan bekerül-e a szolgáltatók kínálatába a megszűnő RTL Spike helyére: Az RTL Spike helyén kínáljuk a TeenNicket a terjesztőknek. Az új csatorna piacra lépését az RTL Spike kivezetése is segíti, helyet szabadítva fel az új márka számára. Bízunk benne, hogy ezt a változást mind a szolgáltatók, mind az előfizetők kedvezően fogadják.

Vagyis nem feltétlenül kerül be a szolgáltatók kínálatába, viszont a tárgyalásokat elősegíti, hogy az ország legnézettebb gyerekcsatornaportfóliója gazdagszik egy újabb darabbal.

Felmerül egy újabb kérdés, miszerint az RTL Spike lokalizált csatorna lévén a TeenNick vajon megkapja-e ugyanezt a bánásmódot? Nos, nem, mivel egyszerűbb egy csatornát nemzetközi vizeken irányítani, több ország számára, mint egymagában kezelni. Így a terjeszkedés lehetősége is mindig előtérben maradhat. Nem mellesleg olcsóbb is a fenntartása. A ViacomCBS képviselete elárulta a Mentrum számára, hogy nem indul külön adásváltozat a régióban, helyette Franciaországgal közös adást fogunk kapni.

A magyarországi indulással egyidőben szomszédainknál, Romániában is elindul a tini csatorna, szintén január 12-én. Viszont náluk a latin-amerikai feed kerül elosztásra, mely értelemszerűen más műsorösszeállítással rendelkezik. Természetesen mindkét csatorna elérhető lesz az ország saját nyelvén.

A TeenNick népszerű élőszereplős (live-action) vígjáték és dramedy sorozatokat mutat be. Olyan élőszereplős sorozatokat tűz műsorra, mint az iCarly, A Thunderman család, a Noob csapat, a Frankie vagyok, a Rocksuli, a V, mint Viktória, a Big Time Rush és még sok más ismert széria.

Alig egy hónap múlva tehát, január 12-étől indul az új ifjúsági csatorna, a TeenNick.

Borussia Dortmund and Nickelodeon Announce Long-Term Partnership, Launch Co-Branded SpongeBob Apparel Collection

Update (4/12) - All has been revealed! Nickelodeon and BVB have collaborated on a new brand new fan collection, as part of a new long-term partnership that will feature joint activities between the channel and football club!


Titled SpongeBob x BVB, the collection initially features two different hoodies and two T-shirts with different motifs for adults in sizes S-XXL, all featuring SpongeBob and his entourage decked out in the famous yellow and black of Dortmund (with options for grey and "Borussia Dortmund" phrases). The apparel went on sale on Friday 4th December 2020 at 11:00am, and is available to buy on the online BVB fan shop and in all brick-and-mortar BVB fan shops. Prices range from 24,99 € for t-shirts and 44,99 € for hoodies.

The clothing features SpongeBob, Patrick and Squidward wearing mock BVB shirts and Gary the Snail’s shell painted in black and yellow.


Center-back Dan-Axel Zagadou and midfielder Giovanni Reyna have already seen the collection and were immediately impressed.

Speaking of the partnership, a representative from Dortmund said: "The yellow hero from Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob SquarePants, officially becomes the new face of the latest fan collection. With it, television broadcaster Nickelodeon and the football club herald a longer-term cooperation with more joint activities."

Borussia Dortmund has teased that the German football team may be collaboration with Nickelodeon on a SpongeBob SquarePants themed project!


On Monday 23rd November, the club's official English-language Twitter page tweeted a video, which used the iconic SpongeBob font. The video also featured a modified version of the BVD logo, which had a 'spongy' SpongeBob-like texture to it, as well as bubble transition used in the hit animated series.

Unfortunately, the post was deleted soon after, so its currently unknown what it meant.

Fans are speculating that BVD may be adopting a SpongeBob-themed kit, with some wishing that the goalie's jersey be themed after Patrick Star.

Fans are also theorizing that it could mean the return of Michy Batshuayi, who happens to be a massive SpongeBob fan. The Belgian international striker revealed that SpongeBob and Batman influenced him into transferring from Chelsea to Borussia Dortmund, citing that he liked the team's colors of yellow and black.


Another theory is that BVD could be planning to use the iconic SpongeBob song "Sweet Victory" as the team's new goal celebration song.

When Stephen Hillenburg passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018, BVD paid tribute to the late creator of SpongeBob SquarePants on Twitter, tweeting: "Thank you for all the memories, Stephen Hillenburg 💛"

No one knows for sure at the moment, although most believe that the team are getting a special SpongeBob-themed kit, similar to the all-black kit that fans loved and it unveiled last year.

That kit was created to honor the rich coal-mining history of Dortmund and the Ruhr region as a whole, and the kit was so popular that it was completely sold out in three hours.

This certainly wouldn’t be the first SpongeBob-themed jersey to be released, as a number of baseball teams have donned uniforms celebrating the beloved animated series, mainly for special promotions, but this may be the first football (soccer) club to do anything related to the show.

It’s also possible that there won’t be a special kit. Instead, it could be a new sponsorship with ViacomCBS, who parent company of the Nickelodeon brand. It could even be a loose partnership similar to when Snoopy/Peanuts and Dortmund partnered up for some special merchandise back in 2017.
