The show must go on! Macy's has announced that the SpongeBob SquarePants& Gary and Chase from PAW Patrol balloons as well as the Blue's Clues & You! and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles floats will be part of the 94th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!

Due to the on-going COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, the annual Macy’s Parade, for the first time in its more than 90-year history, will be modified to safely bring the magic to more than 50 million viewers nationwide on Thanksgiving Day, while maintaining all of the spectacle and wonder of this cherished holiday tradition.

This year the celebration will shift to a television only special presentation, showcasing the Macy’s Parade’s signature mix of giant character helium balloons, fantastic floats, street performers, clowns and heralding the arrival of the holiday season with the one-and-only Santa Claus.

For nearly 100 years, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has been synonymous with the official start of the holiday season in the United States. Growing from a two block-long collection of Macy’s colleagues dressed in whimsical clown outfits, playing instruments and adorning floats in 1924, to the world-famous spectacle we know today, at the core of the Macy’s Parade has been the warm memories that fill the hearts and minds of generations of American families.

To safely produce this icon of American culture during this unprecedented time, Macy’s partnered with the City of New York to create a safe plan that would keep the tradition alive. Following the success of this summer’s reimagined Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks® show, the Macy’s team meticulously reviewed every area of the Thanksgiving Day playbook to put in place enhanced health and safety practices that align with CDC guidelines, as well as local and state government protocols.

The safety of participants and spectators is Macy’s number one priority and this year’s 94th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade celebration will be produced solely as a television event allowing millions of New Yorkers and the nation to safely experience it from the comforts of home.

As part of Macy’s comprehensive health and wellness plan a number of changes will be implemented in order to execute this event safely. These changes include, but are not limited to the following:

- Reducing the overall number of participants by approximately 75%, and splitting the remaining participants over two days

- All participants will be appropriately socially distanced during performances and be required to wear face coverings and additional personal protective equipment depending on their role

- Shifting to a television-broadcast-only production with staging for Parade elements focused solely in/ around the Herald Square area of Midtown Manhattan

- The traditional 2.5-mile Parade route will not be utilized this year

- No participant in the Parade will be under 18 years of age

- Previously selected regional High School and College Marching Bands performances will be deferred to the 2021 Macy’s Parade, with locally based professional marching and musical ensembles taking musical duties in the lineup

- Macy’s traditional Giant Balloon Inflation public event on Wednesday will not take place

- Macy’s signature giant character balloons will be flown without the traditional 80-100 handlers and instead employ an innovative, specially rigged anchor vehicle framework of five specialty vehicles tested and approved by the NYCDOT and NYPD

The 94th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will air nationwide on NBC-TV, Thursday, November 26, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon, in all time zones. For more information visit macys.com/parade. SpongeBob SquarePants & Gary Balloon

SpongeBob SquarePants will make his 16th appearance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. In 2004, SpongeBob made history as the Parade’s first-ever square balloon and this year, In 2019, SpongeBob returned from his parade hiatus to take to the sky with his pet snail Gary in tow. The brand-new SpongeBob balloon, which stands at 44-feet high, 36-feet wide and 46-feet long takes on his unique shape with the help of more than 800 internal tie-lines that pull the single chamber sphere balloon into a square.

Hailing all the way from Adventure Bay, this fearless rescue pup from the number-one preschool series, PAW Patrol, is ready to come to the ruff-ruff-rescue and show the citizens of New York that “no job is too big, no pup is too small.” The German Shepherd will journey from Adventure Bay to Manhattan’s skyline as a giant character helium balloon. Making its maiden flight in 2017, the balloon features Chase donning his signature navy blue police uniform and measuring 43.3 feet high, 36.2 feet wide and 59.8 feet long,

Nickelodeon’s playful pup Blue, will be making a return to the annual holiday spectacle on her brand-new float that will showcase a 22-foot tall Blue, inspired by the look and feel of the new series Blue’s Clues & You!, a remake of the groundbreaking interactive series, Blue’s Clues. Covered in 13 pounds of glitter, Blue will shine down the Parade route as she greets fans of all ages. Blue's new float was introduced in 2019. Did you know: Blue has been marking clues in the Parade since 1999; she’s been both a balloon and a float!

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Float

Rising from the city sewers to save the day, the wildly popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles—Raph, Leo, Donnie and Mikey—are equipped with an irreverent sense of humor and action-packed moves to fend off the bad guys. COWABUNGA! Introduced in 2018, the Rise of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles float gives the crowd a glimpse into the Turtles’ secret lair hidden beneath the New York City streets.

2C 2.0 Enlisted by Nickelodeon for Campaign Launching ‘Blue’s Clues & You!’ Consumer Products Line

The campaign involved VFX and a live-action shoot that was a feat in the age of COVID-19.

MIAMI – October 27, 2020 – Launching the first line of toys for Blue’s Clues & You!, the hit remake of the groundbreaking, curriculum-driven interactive series Blue’s Clues, Nickelodeon called on long-time partners 2C 2.0 for a linear and social advertising campaign. The goal was to create an enchanted VFX experience to bring to life Nickelodeon’s original, live-action “Kid Fantasy” concept in which Blue leaps from the TV screen to help a little girl find clues that transform normal objects into awesome Blue’s Clues & You! toys, games and even a super-soft plushy! The spot can be viewed in the video player below.

From green light to delivery, 2C worked closely with Nickelodeon to overcome the inherent challenges posed by the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, pulling off a feat in the coordination of the live-action shoot and VFX process. The teams planned extensively over Zoom to ensure that each shot would work for VFX, as only the DP/camera operator and mother of the talent could be present on set.

“There were so many challenges to think about with COVID and remote-style shooting, which was the safest option at the time. We had to make sure that the two-person production team on the ground with our talent could do everything the client wanted sans a traditional crew,” said Director Tony Cohen. “What made things easier was 2C’s expertise and availability to talk creative out, especially with the animation aspects being added to live action.”

2C is no stranger to working remotely. With its curated teams spread across the globe, they were well-prepared for the challenges COVID would present to post-production alongside trusted partner, Nickelodeon.

“Many of us have been working remotely for quite a long time, and we’ve had plenty of practice living in a hurricane zone, so quarantine work-life is fairly similar to our normal way of working,” said 2C Creative Director Cheryl King. “The teams on this production spanned over 5 time zones – from L.A. to Miami to Dublin – so we both planned extensively to ensure a seamless successful project and worked to cultivate and maintain open and honest communication – an absolute necessity during this time of change and evolution in our industry.”

Once the shoot was completed successfully, 2C went to work, both editing the live-action spots and handling VFX to ultimately create a colorful, fun and engaging product launch campaign consisting of 30- and 15-second linear spots that could run on such OTT platforms as FireTV, SamsungTV and Pluto TV, to name a few. The campaign also includes a mini-series of short social spots at various ratios of 1×1 and 9×16 to span the social platforms.

“This was a VFX-intensive production so VFX supervision had to be especially well-monitored to ensure that the plates that were shot would work with the compositors and 3D artists,” said 2C VFX Supervisor Bob Cobb. “In addition, Nickelodeon gave us access to the rig used by the studio for the Blue’s Clues & You! series, and our animators had to get up to speed not only on the rig, but also making sure that any animations done would match the show’s existing style.”

In collaboration with Nickelodeon, iam8bit and Skybound today (Oct. 28) announced “Block Print Ninjas” — the second release in their Lean/Mean/Green: A TMNT Limited Edition Art Print Series— an epic, traditional-meets-modern tribute to the heroes in a half shell by the truly iconic Peter Santa-Maria, commonly known as Attack Peter.

Gabrielle Nevaeh Green recently teased on Instagram that the Nickelodeon star was "cooking up something special" with her All That and Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered co-star Lex Lumpkin and fellow Nickelodeon stars Miya Cech (The Astronauts) and Terrence Little Gardenhigh (Danger Force)! In the photo, taken in Los Angeles, California and posted on Saturday, October 24, features the Nick Squad, with Miya and Lex wearing Nickelodeon jerseys. When asked what the project is, Green replied saying that it's "secret for now".

Lex also posted the photo on his Instagram, along with the caption "This is shaping up to be a great day." Nickelodeon replied saying "Looks like fun [wink emoji]"

NICKELODEON TO PREMIERE SIDE HUSTLE ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7

Nickelodeon will premiere Side Hustle, a brand-new live-action buddy comedy starring social media sensations and real-life best friends, Annie LeBlanc and Jayden Bartels on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 8:30 p.m. (ET/PT)!

Side Hustle follows best friends, smart and sarcastic Lex (LeBlanc) and confident and tough Presley (Bartels), as they devise a plan to make money when fireworks accidentally destroy a boat belonging to the dad of their quirky friend and neighbor, Munchy (Isaiah Crews). Created and executive produced by Dave Malkoff (Henry Danger, Sam & Cat, Victorious) and shot in front of a live studio audience, Side Hustle season one (13 half-hour episodes) was shot in Los Angeles.

Forced to come up with creative ways to earn money to pay for the damages, Lex, Presley and Munchy enlist the help of Presley’s tech-savvy younger brother, Fisher (Mitchell Berg), who creates an app to connect with people looking for help with small jobs, and Munchy’s bossy older brother Jaget (Jacques Chevelle), who makes sure they keep up with the payments.

“Annie and Jayden are two massively talented stars who kids adore, and we think our audience is going to love seeing them in their own show on Nick,” said Shauna Phelan, Senior Vice President, Live-Action Scripted Content. “Side Hustle is a new take on the classic buddy comedy, full of wild and hilarious adventures for our unique cast of characters.”

In the premiere episode, “Start Hustling” (#101), the kids get into a jam after accidentally setting a boat on fire. Needing money, they get a job as living mannequins at a fancy store. The kids are excited until they discover they’ll be modeling itchy wool outfits. After spending hours itching and posing, they hatch a plan to close the store early.

LeBlanc is an actress and singer who first came to social prominence in her family’s YouTube channel, “Bratayley.” She has since amassed over 27 million followers across her own social media platforms, and can be seen starring in Brat’s hit YouTube series Chicken Girls and A Girl Named Jo, and the YouTube Red Originals series We Are Savvy. As a singer LeBlanc’s had six songs in the Top Ten iTunes Pop charts, and two Top 50 Billboard Chart hits. She recently won “Choice Music Web Star” at the 2019 Teen Choice Awards, “Muser of the Year” at the 2018 Shorty Awards, and is currently nominated for “Favorite Female Social Star” at the 2020 Kids’ Choice Awards. In 2019, LeBlanc joined the Nickelodeon family starring in Annie vs. Hayley, a digital competition show with her younger sister Hayley, and co-hosted Camp Nick alongside Bartels.

Bartels is a singer, actress and dancer who has made a name for herself both on camera and on the stage. Having written and arranged every song she’s released, she debuted her first EP titled “What Really Matters?” last year and released her most recent single “Gameboy” earlier this month. She’s currently on tour opening for pop rock band Echosmith across the U.S., and she went out on a European tour with English singing duo Max & Harvey in 2019. She has a following of almost 12 million across her social media platforms, as well as over 1.6 billion likes on TikTok. On screen, Bartels has played a recurring role Disney Channel’s Coop & Cami Ask the World and lead in the films To The Beat! and its’ upcoming sequel, To The Beat! Back 2 School. She can also be seen in episodes of Nickelodeon’s Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn, Showtime’s Kidding and CBS’s Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.

LeBlanc and Bartels co-hosted Nickelodeon's virtually-produced Group Chat this summer, which ranked as the number-one unscripted live-action show on cable with kids 6-11 in the second quarter of 2020. Bartels teamed up with social media star Brent Rivera for season two, which is currently airing on Nickelodeon.

John Beck & Ron Hart (Knight Squad, Fuller House, Liv and Maddie) serve as executive producers and showrunners. Production of Side Hustle for Nickelodeon is overseen by Shauna Phelan, Senior Vice President, Live-Action Scripted Content. Omar Camacho serves as Nickelodeon’s Executive in Charge of Production for the series.

SpongeBob SquarePants writer Kaz Prapuolenis has revealed that he's just completed writing his first SpongeBob SquarePants Christmas holiday special, which is set to premiere on Nickelodeon in 2021!

"SPONGEBOB FANS! I just finished writing my first ever Christmas Special (for next year). So I hung it on the tree! Sorry, but I had to redact the title to keep it a surprise," Kaz posted on his Facebook page.

The upcoming SpongeBob SquarePants holiday special mark's the show's fourth, following"Christmas Who?" in 2000, the stop-motion animated "It's a SpongeBob Christmas!" in 2012, and "Goons on the Moon" in 2018.

TeenNick Israel (יִשְׂרָאֵל) will be premiering The Policeman’s Daughter (בת השוטר / Bathashoter), a brand new suspense series about a detective investigating a murder witnessed by the young daughter of a cop, very soon! The series was filmed during June 2020 in Bnei Brak, an ultra-Orthodox city outside Tel Aviv that was an epicenter of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic in the spring, that was put under lockdown by the IDF’s Home Front Command.

With masks, social distancing, ‘Shtisel’ and other Israeli shows resume filming

Third season of ‘Shtisel,’ ‘The Policeman’s Daughter’ and more Israeli TV programs find ways to stay on set despite coronavirus-bred complications

It was early July when the cast of “Shtisel,” the award-winning YES Studio TV show about an ultra-Orthodox family in Jerusalem, finally began filming the series’ long-awaited third season.

Michael Aloni (Akiva), Dovale Glickman (Shulem), Shira Haas (Ruchami) and Zohar Strauss (Lippe), were all on location, black hats and sheitels in place, but for the actors, at least, nary a mask in sight when in front of the camera.

The crew had gone back to work in May, working on locations and getting ready for filming. “We were in the state of mind that the coronavirus was behind us,” said director Alon Zingman. “What we all felt was that it was gone; little did we know.”

By June, a resurgence of COVID-19 had begun in Israel, but filming began, because the show does go on.

For “Shtisel,” that meant having fewer people on set and carefully following the government’s regulations for masks and social distancing. It’s been complicated, said Zingman.

Much of “Shtisel” is filmed on location in old Jerusalem apartments, some of which are still occupied by elderly residents who, despite careful preparation, were often afraid to let the cast and crew in because of the coronavirus, said Zingman.

“They’re scared to let strangers into their homes right now,” he said.

It’s also been difficult for the cast, said Zingman. Everything takes longer, with daily signed health declarations and making sure that the older actors from the cast feel healthy and secure.

For now, Zingman is “praying that nothing will happen to us,” he said. “If God forbid, a production assistant gets sick, we’ll all be in quarantine, we’re all in danger.”

That’s exactly what happened on the Yes Kids set of “The Policeman’s Daughter,” said director Roi Florentin, who is directing the show based on the bestselling thriller, “Endgame,” by Liad Shoham.

Within weeks of filming, one of the show’s main actors went into quarantine for two weeks after being briefly exposed to her sister who got infected. Another actor had been working on a different set and came into contact with someone who got sick, forcing Florentin to change the filming schedule yet again.

Actor Lior Ashkenazi, who plays a detective investigating a murder witnessed by the young daughter of a cop, also directed some of the episodes, his first for a TV show. He showed up for his episodes, said Florentin, and hasn’t gotten caught in any quarantines.

“If someone is sick or doesn’t feel good, I tell them not to come,” said Florentin. “The most important thing is that people should stay healthy so we can finish filming this in September.”

“Shtisel” director Zingman hadn’t wanted to film during the hot days of the Israeli summer, when the cast would swelter in their heavy suits and dresses. Now he’s hoping to be done by September.

The “Shtisel” crew had been working on finding locations for the shoot when the coronavirus emerged, but had to halt everything for two months when the economy shut down.

The set locations often present the biggest challenge for TV crews during the coronavirus, said Florentin.

When Florentin began filming “The Policeman’s Daughter” in June, one of his locations was in Bnei Brak, an ultra-Orthodox city outside Tel Aviv that was an epicenter of the coronavirus in the spring, and that was put under lockdown by the IDF’s Home Front Command.

Weeks later, while filming a scene that included an actor dressed as an ultra-Orthodox man, a bystander began shouting at the crew from his balcony.

“He was yelling at the actor, ‘You’re a bad example, you want everyone to think we’re like this?'” said Florentin. “He really yelled at them.”

The crew all wear masks all the time, said Florentin, and they try hard to keep the two-meter distance rule. But in some jobs it’s difficult to keep one’s distance, such as the production assistant who sits next to Florentin and informs him about details on the set.

Florentin said he tries to have as few people on the set as possible and the makeup and costume crew sit in a different area throughout most of the day.

“Keeping your distance feels strange,” said Florentin. “It’s instinctual to get close and I have to remember not to put my hand on someone’s arm or shoulder when I’m making a point. Honestly, it’s just a strange time.”

In June, Ananey Studios, a ViacomCBS company, filmed two of its newest stars, pastry chefs Keren and Itzik Kadosh, owners of the iconic Jerusalem bakery Kadosh, wandering through the streets of Jerusalem, introducing viewers to the best bakeries in the city in “Baking Jerusalem.”

“When the cameras went on, the masks came off,” said Keren Kadosh, in an Instagram post she wrote about the show, whose six episodes will introduce viewers to unique Jerusalem bakeries.

Luckily, restaurants and cafes are open again, for now.

Ananey is currently producing eight shows, including kid and teens shows, said CEO Orly Atlas Katz, including suspense drama “Sky,” DIY series “Craft Party” (which was purchased by BBC), preschool show “Rescue Team,” teen sitcom “Alone at Home” and several others.

Work has continued, said Atlas Katz, but it’s a trying period.

The studio has a coronavirus inspector on set, who makes sure everyone uses masks. There are hand-washing stations and separate production-only restrooms at every location, and the cast is separated from the crew at all times in order to keep smaller numbers of people together.

Meals are served individually rather than buffet style, and only up to four people can sit at a table together, with seating based on permanent capsules, she said.

Filming intimate scenes hasn’t been a problem, said Atlas Katz, as the shows being filmed are all for kids and teens, and tend not to include bedroom scenes.

Ditto for “The Policeman’s Daughter” and “Shtisel,” both of which revolve around ultra-Orthodox characters, who don’t engage in public displays of affection.

For now, it’s at least one detail those directors don’t have to worry about juggling during the coronavirus.

Nickelodeon in Israel has commissioned a new young-adult drama titled Ziggy from Tel Aviv-based global content production and distribution company ADD Content (The Missing, My Guardian Angel)!

Created by Shahar Segall and Oren Yaakobi, Ziggy tells the story of 16-year-old Dori, a teenager with Vitiligo (a long-term skin condition characterised by patches of the skin losing their pigment) which has impacted his confidence so much that he hides from the world. In order to fulfil his secret dream of singing and performing on stage, he invents a charismatic and talented alter ego – Ziggy – a personality who can conquer bullies and shine through the mask he adopts as his signature costume. Dori/Ziggy will be played by newcomer, Amitai Erman, who also has Vitiligo. The show follows Dori’s journey of success and his battle to keep his true identity a secret, while he falls in love, makes friends, and discovers himself.

Nickelodeon, which is distributed by pay TV platform Hot, has commissioned 40 episodes of Ziggy, which will be produced and distributed internationally by ADD Content as a format and finished series. Emil Ben Shimon directs.

“HallowScream” Lineup Includes All-New Episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants, The Loud House, The Casagrandes, Blue’s Clues & You!, It’s Pony and more!

NEW YORK–Oct. 1, 2020– Nickelodeon is celebrating Halloween with spooktacular premieres of its live-action, animation and preschool series beginning Friday, Oct. 2.  Viewers will be treated to hauntingly fun, all-new episodes of hit series, including The Loud House, The Casagrandes, Blue’s Clues & You!, and It’s Pony.

Fans can head to NickJr.com and the Nick and Nick Jr. app to view Halloween-themed episodes and short-form content. Noggin, Nickelodeon’s interactive learning service for preschoolers, will also feature festive long and short-form content, games and more during the month of October.

Below is the rundown of Nickelodeon’s “HallowScream” premieres.  All times are ET/PT with premieres airing on Nickelodeon unless otherwise noted:

• SpongeBob SquarePants“Spookiest Scenes Countdown Special” – Friday, Oct. 2, at 7pm

It's Halloween season, and a power outage can't stop Patchy the Pirate from counting down the spookiest SpongeBob scenes ever.

• Adventures of Paddington“Paddington and Halloween” – Friday, Oct. 2, at 8:30pm (Nick Jr. Channel)

It’s Halloween and Paddington goes treat-or-treating with Jonathan and Judy around Windsor Gardens, but Mr. Curry does not want to join in.

• The Loud House“Ghosted!” (30-minute special) – Friday, Oct. 9, at 7pm

With the help of Lincoln and Clyde, Lori banishes a ghost she believes is haunting her. But when Fairway’s golf team starts to struggle, she realizes she needs to bring it back to turn the team’s luck around.

• The Casagrandes“Fails from the Crypt/Bad Cluck” – Friday, Oct. 9, at 7:30pm

The kids try to break a local record for staying in the cemetery overnight. Then, a haunted chicken is pestering the Casagrandes, but they think it is only there for Sergio.

• Rainbow Rangers“Spooky Costume Party” – Sunday, Oct. 11, at 11am (Nick Jr. Channel)

The Rangers and Floof help Patty prep for an eco-friendly spooky costume party.

• Blue’s Clues & You!“Spooky Costume Party” – Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 9am

It's a spooky Halloween at the Blue's Clues house. Blue is dressed up as a fish, but Magenta can't decide what costume to wear so Josh plays a game of Blue's Clues to figure it out.

• Ollie’s Pack“Nightmare Frightscare” – Saturday, Oct. 17, at 12pm

It’s Halloween and Ollie and his pals go to a spooky house in pursuit of full-sized chocolate bars.

• It’s Pony“Scarecrow/Poneapples” – Friday, Oct. 23, at 7:30pm

It’s Halloween and Annie and Pony must save the family’s pumpkin crop from hungry crows. Then, when apples that Pony has licked become a best seller, Annie is torn about coming clean.

• Unfiltered“Happy Slime-o-ween!” – Saturday, Oct. 31, at 8pm

This one is all tricks and no treats! Host Jay Pharoah introduces two mystery celebs hiding behind 3D animated filters. Darci Lynne Farmer, Gabrielle Nevaeh Green and Lex Lumpkin ask questions and gather clues to unveil their special guests.

• Group Chat with Jayden and Brent“Halloween – Sliming for Apples” – Saturday, Oct. 31, at 8:30pm

Jayden Bartels and Brent Rivera throw candy corn across their rooms, turn themselves into mummies, and bob for slimy apples with special guests, Hubie Halloween stars Lilimar (Bella and the Bulldogs, Knight Squad) and Paris Berelc.
